Percy (the Telegraph) reporting that Boro have refused the wolves request to formally speak to Rob Edwards

06 Nov 2025 20:18:04
Yes they did mate few other sources confirmed it.

06 Nov 2025 18:33:39
Middlesbrough rejected our request to talk to Rob Edwards

06 Nov 2025 16:17:28
Wolves have apparently draw up a shortlist ( about time) and the leading contenders are Rob Edward’s and EtH .
Wolves are expected to make and approach for Edward’s today.

06 Nov 2025 18:38:35
Middlesbrough refused wolves request to speak to Dave Edwards and say he is not going anywhere

06 Nov 2025 18:39:43
Sorry ment Rob Edwards

06 Nov 2025 18:53:29
Middlesboro refused permission to speak to him

06 Nov 2025 19:12:13
Approach has been rejected so where does that leave us?

06 Nov 2025 15:46:44
It’s going to be Rob Edwards.

06 Nov 2025 16:03:11
Does look like it Pikey, official approach to be made, apparently Jeff wants him. Personally I am not sure, however in our position we have to have whoever will come to some extent. Will wish hi the best if he does arrive.

06 Nov 2025 16:32:00
It does seem to look that way given recent media posts. Hopefully I'm wrong, but my gut feeling about getting Edwards is that we're preparing for competing in the championship as opposed to surviving in the Premiership!

06 Nov 2025 16:35:09
Nothing against him but we are looking more desperate by the day the club is so badly run we are beyond a joke now

06 Nov 2025 16:59:16
Maybe an acceptance that we will be relegated this time, I like Rob Edwards, however I always thought he may be a good manager and possible candidate in the future, not just yet. I hope I am wrong just can’t see us staying up this season, whoever comes in, if they manage to keep us up they would have done an incredible job.

06 Nov 2025 17:02:18
I don't see Edwards as preparing for the Championship, he's a good young manager, who yes has experience of getting teams promoted, but he also get teams playing on front foot, he coached in the premier league with a team of players who played at the lower level, yes they were relegated, but he spent nothing and got a tune out of bang average players, Luton always took teams on and never gave up, something that we all want to see down the Wolves, so if it Rob Edwards I will welcome him. the tried and tested foreign managers hasn't worked apart from NUNO, we have spent countless millions on players the last few years, yes we have sold a few also, but we have gone backwards, some of the football recently has been dire.

Time for a bit of a reset and grounding on where we are as a club, Edwards is a better option than the like of Ten Hag, he knows the club inside out, he has coached the younger teams, he knows fosun, and he knows English football and the premier league, so anyone saying he's no use needs to have another think. We would be lucky to get him in my opinion.

06 Nov 2025 18:06:48
Couldn't agree more Sydney Wolf. Luton took some scalps in their PL season, and finished 18th, only 6 points adrift from safely. Rob Edwards did a fantastic job in getting the motley bunch of Luton players promoted, for peanuts! Given his Wolves background and PL experience, I would back him.

If he joins us, that will indicate he believes he has a better chance of PL football next season with us, rather than with 'Boro. He might even persuade Hayden Hackney to join us in January.

06 Nov 2025 18:16:29
He's young, on the up, worked his way from youth football, probably wolves current squad will be the best players he has ever worked with. It may be a good move, I really don't know.

06 Nov 2025 19:22:25
However, we have been declined permission to speak to him

05 Nov 2025 21:00:11
Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Mourinho could be a potential candidate for the Wolves job.

His rational being that Mourinho himself said in October '24 after Fenerbahce he would like to take on a lower Premier League club who are nowhere near European competition, or words to that effect.

Now at Benfica where things aren't exactly working out for him, so.

I know so don't shoot the messenger.😂

05 Nov 2025 21:26:05
Could mean massive compensation though Long, on top of salary expectations.

05 Nov 2025 22:21:09
Probably Arddunby but the thought of Mourinho tearing into Shi over transfers would be hilarious.😂

05 Nov 2025 22:50:37
Mourinho wouldn't take crap from the players either, i'd have him at Wolves.
But as already pointed out by Arrdunby it would require high compensation and high salaries.

06 Nov 2025 06:19:26
Rated mate no way mourinho is well past his sell by date he's been sacked in his last 4 jobs I think.

06 Nov 2025 06:21:54
It feels like wishful thinking chaps.
Too rich an option for us. UNLESS, Fosun do look to bring in proper Senior Management at the top and a whole new approach taken.

06 Nov 2025 08:55:04
Rosenior.be a good shout I reckon

06 Nov 2025 12:43:51
Rosenior would be a good shout if he wanted the job, but also if he's given 18 months and not just to the end of the season. If / when we go down changing the head coach again seems a waste unless we go down without a fight.

At the moment we just may have to accept whoever it is due to a lack of pulling power (unless it turns out to be Shi in a tracksuit).

06 Nov 2025 14:29:10
Rob Edwards has emerged as the clear bookies' odds-on favourite overnight. He made a good attempt at keeping Luton in the PL and is doing very well with Middlesbrough, 3rd in the table. He surely wouldn't take the Wolves job if he wasn't confident he could keep us up.

06 Nov 2025 18:21:57
I would like to see Rob as our manager as long as fosun give him a chance to get us back up if we are relegated
Let's be honest .this wolves team are in a mess and whoever takes over will need a decent war chest.

05 Nov 2025 20:39:53
Apparently Rui vitoria is now being considered for head coach. Won a couple of titles with Benfica a few years ago I think. Has a very similar feeling to the appointment of Vitor pereira in that he’s a little know coach and was also recently in Saudi so he’s been around a bit.

05 Nov 2025 21:00:08
Mendes client I think.

06 Nov 2025 10:27:08
Rui Vitoria is a client of Agency Idoloassis Futebol based in Lisbon and Oporto, Portugal.
No connection to Gestifute or Jorge Mendes.

06 Nov 2025 12:06:06
Thanks for clarification oap wulfrunian.

05 Nov 2025 11:27:15
If newspapers are to be believed it now seems we have entered talks with…….Bruno lage 🤦‍♂️

05 Nov 2025 14:06:40
Oh No!

05 Nov 2025 14:30:03
It's just bizarre isn't it, can't help but feel that Teti has taken his list of mob numbers with him leaving Jeff hilariously scrolling through his own mob desperately looking for ANYONE mad enough to attend an interview! If it didn't make me SO angry it would genuinely be hilarious! 🤬

05 Nov 2025 15:31:27
Bruno said no. Thankfully.
Allardyce (who couldn’t save Leeds or Baggies) is waiting by his fax machine.
If Keane is truly up for it what do we have to lose?
Please no ‘help’ needed from Mendes (he’s suckled the golden tit long enough and now it’s all shrivelled up).

I’m not a religious person but I’ve prayed for something good to come. I’m now writing my letter to Santa, asking for the same present as the last few years!

05 Nov 2025 16:30:35
At this rate Jackett or Lambert will be coming back.

05 Nov 2025 17:06:38
Allardyce waiting by his fax machine? He was never that techy. He's probably sent his job application to Wolves by carrier pigeon. Looks like the only interest is from no-hopers. Think I'll send my CV in.

05 Nov 2025 18:29:04
😂😂😂

05 Nov 2025 19:42:42
Jackett turned the club around once, so maybe he is the right man for the job again

05 Nov 2025 20:10:39
Don't forget Dean Saunders.

05 Nov 2025 21:19:24
Mike no one can ever forget dean Saunders 😂

06 Nov 2025 09:30:37
Allardyce waiting by his fax machine is so funny. Apparently he has a VHS of all the Wolves games.

04 Nov 2025 21:55:43
Domenico Teti gone now.

05 Nov 2025 08:12:36
Wonder if the story Emperors new clothes ever been translated to Chinese?

05 Nov 2025 09:08:12
If it has skrekken I’m sure fosun have found a way to squeeze some money out of it somehow 😂

05 Nov 2025 10:27:39
Selling the club could take months (due diligence etc)
Avoiding relegation is the priority and only by appointing the RIGHT Manager/Head Coach immediately can resolve this issue.

04 Nov 2025 20:53:31
Matt Slater via The Athletic pdcast "The market believes Wolves have been trying to sell the club for some time and would love for someone to come along and take the club off their hands for some where around £350-400m"
Credit to The Wolfpack on X for this.

04 Nov 2025 22:24:21
Thanks Rated, I think we all hoped this was the case.

05 Nov 2025 06:33:21
The lack of communication from Guangchang, fuels this theory Rated.
It is clear Fosun now have no interest in Wolves.

05 Nov 2025 08:38:39
I'm not surprised to hear the Matt Slater story. Sometimes the best way to sell a business is to pretend that you have no interest in selling. The old 'reluctant seller' trick can make the buyer think they are getting a bargain. In Wolves' case, it's the buyers who are reluctant, if they exist at all.

05 Nov 2025 09:49:40
I bet they would!
I would love someone to pay me £350m for my house!
Personally my view is that it is currently worth far far less than £350m already. ( See post comparing Wolves value with Brentford that recently sold a stake valuing it at £400m).
Also sadly for Fosun if Wolves get relegated the value will drop dramatically.
Additionally it is also quite possible that over the next year or so Wolves will go into administration and therefore would be available for whatever it can be sold for - not much more than zero!
It would therefore not surprise me to see Fosun continue to extract value as rapidly as they can in full knowledge that there is no buyer coming over the hill to save them.

05 Nov 2025 11:55:30
Seems a bit OTT to me comments on administration and asset stripping.
They were after Pubill, Casado and Juanlu Sanchez.
Probably did miss out on Guessand, Abline and others aswell (Harvey Elliott for example).
Don't get me wrong they should have done better in the summer but by all accounts they did as much as they could to sign those players but they didn't want to come.
Arguably all those players have missed out as none of them are playing every week.
That is buying in European football target territory not relegation zone. Which as fans is what we want. Its easy to forget the circumstances of the summer and blame Fosun and Vitor.

I actually think the team will come good before the end of the season. If we revert to a back 5 and stick with the same defensive players.
I feel Larsen, Hwang, Agbadou etc need to pull there socks up its a WC next summer.
I would bring Sa and Doc back into the side mainly because Sa is a great shot stopper and feel he would have stopped some of the goals conceded the past few weeks.
Doc brings experience and allows Jackson to get further forward.
Yes they did concede a Sunderland first goal but I thought it was a good goal by Sunderland.
A back 5 is the answer and a manager that can bring that in and get results ASAP is a priority.

Madman - undoubtedly a doomsday scenario but what is your version?
Do you honestly think Wolves have got to this position - losing £80m pa, (pre player sales), more than Brentford, whilst plummeting down the table - with Jeff trying his best to run the club for the benefit of the club?
I agree that he is incompetent but surely no one can be this bad.

If so can you answer where the money goes/has gone - Wolves have a cost base of over £250m and debt of well over £300m.
It has not been on player transfers as net transfer figures over the past few years are negligible nor on the stadium?

Neither is it on player wages as the player wage bill is widely reported as very modest compared to the total cost base?
Going forwards though if Wolves are relegated and if Jeff is as incompetent as you believe how on earth does he square off income off well under £100m - including a parachute payment the club may not still have as it has been mortgaged, along with the lease on the stadium - and a cost base of over £250m of which over £180m is cash.

Not sure I followed the first part of your argument are you saying the players bought were top quality - evidence v v thin - or that the players they didn't sign but allegedly tried to were top quality players?
My thesis is that Fosun - due to covid - needed to raise cash and Wolves were the milch cow chosen
Thus Jeff is not trying to do his best for Wolves but his best for Fosun - a very different thing.

Sadly however which ever way you look at it he has done a terrible job for everyone because he is incompetent.
The only positive is that if this is the case Jeff might be able to reduce the cost base once Wolves are relegated if Fosun accepts the well has run dry but even then it is surely going to be v hard in the short term to service all of the capital and operating obligations without the wholesale disposal of the squad?

In the medium term the players left are unlikely to survive in the championship potentially leading to a vicious spiralling down similar to the one previously suffered by the club in the early 80s.

Survival this season is therefore essential to the medium term rebuild of the club but unlike you I think the road to survival from where they are today is very very tight indeed!
Sorry.

06 Nov 2025 11:23:16
The way I see it is a bit different and far more complex to be honest TFIOG.

I think allegations of asset stripping are unfair they spent £166m in the summer. Yes they did sell Cunha and RAN but both players had served decent number of year at Wolves. RAN had been here 5 years and Cunha 3.5 years. Both wanted to go.

In terms of the 'loss' you refer to this will be accountants doing there magic. Any company can write off certain losses and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC can do this as well.

Again I say WWFC as the club is a separate business to Fosun. So the commercial revenue of £270m-£350m is what the club generates. Interestingly the Premier league payments are never discussed as part of the commercial revenue either. Not sure why this is the case I guess it is not seen as part of the commercial revenue the club disclose from tickets, sponsorship of the kit / stadium etc.

To be clear commercial revenue includes sponsorship, merchandising, revenue from other commercial operations and non-football events. So E-Sports do makes money from younger fans that shouldn't be underestimated.

So a share of the commercial revenue (after ensuring all liabilities are paid are for transfers, increased wages etc).

We had a clear PSR bill with the sales of the past two season this summer and even further sales this summer.

Wolves wanted to sign players but were outplayed by the monsters of the league. Due to not having european football and Teti not starting earlier IMO.

I think the signings of Pubill, Sanchez and Casado would have been fantastic to be honest. And Guessand and Harvey Elliott seem like other options the club looked at.

We need a manager to play a back 5 and pick up points then sign a forward with pace in January. Its not over yet.

06 Nov 2025 15:59:07
Madman - you do see it differently to me.
However I'm not sure what you see and where you see it?
For example it is widely acknowledged that Wolves spent nothing like £166m this summer and commercial revenues according to the audited accounts are under £27m not the £270m to £350m you quote.
But again if your numbers were correct - which they aren't - how do you explain where the money goes.

If Wolves generated such vast sums why are they so heavily in debt and why other than "magic" do they lose so much money?
Also arguing that Wolves failed to buy good players is not really a very strong argument is it?
Mine may be a doomsday scenario but it is rational and based upon facts your thesis is not complex but merely that of a fan, like several other on here desperate to be loyal to Jeff but without any basis in truth - why?

04 Nov 2025 17:03:41
So GoN has distanced himself from the job ( in other words he was not offered it)
Couple of mentions for Robbie Keane and to be honest I think he fits the profile, young with some experience and plays attractive football.

We could do a lot worse. Keep in mind we are currently odds on to go down so this type of manager is what we need to build a future with.
Not sure about big Sam and would be surprised if Seth takes it .

04 Nov 2025 20:29:37
Interesting post. I do think there's two ways of looking at this. The managers connected with Wolves aren't good enough GON, Edwards, Keane and even Big Sam (as a fan).

So its the managers with experience Rodgers, Ten Hag, Ange all with interesting track records but some that have been a disaster recently.

I think two combinations that could work:
1) Ole and Carrick
2) Ten Haag but with Van Der Sar as director of football like Ajax.

But I probably would go the Portuguese manager route with some assistance from Mendes.
Sérgio Conceição
Carlos Vicens has experience of the Prem at Man City
Bruno Lage with a back 5 was okay its only when he played a back 4 we looked poor.

Reasons for this are complex but I think we need a manager that can come in revert to a back 5 and pick up points quick.
The managers that have an allegiance to Wolves can't do that.
The managers that are names are prone to going attacking back 4 have to prove they know best.

Two wins and we are back in this. Keep the faith.

I do think there's money to spend in January so it will be interesting the direction the club choose.
ODCL

04 Nov 2025 20:49:22
Haag has rejected us.

04 Nov 2025 23:23:33
Solid thinking madman. WWFC is currently no place for an inexperienced candidate, and anyone with a reputation would surely be wary of taking the job. It's a difficult position to fill but I know that's stating the obvious.

05 Nov 2025 09:39:53
Cheers Arddunby from the options it would be Ole and Carrick if that's a possibility.
Or they go all out for Sergio Sérgio Conceição
