Being linked with Santiago Arias, plays for Atletico Madrid I think.

Can't see it to be honest De Wolf.

Looks like Reguilon is going Utd.

And Telles has had his transfer fee dropped to 18m. Is that for Wolves?

Also we have still been linked with AMN and Corona ove rthe past week.

I reckon this is an agent or Athletico trying to increase interest so the fee and value goes up.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 21:37:14
Christian Eriksen is available ; 6 years younger than Joao! Moutinho excellent tonight, though. COYW.

3.) 14 Sep 2020 22:01:13
Preston- agree Joao was excellent tonight. And Inter can keep Erikson for me, he flattered to deceive for years at Spurs and has been found out in 6 months when playing in a very average league. Its a no for me fella 👍.

4.) 14 Sep 2020 22:32:43
Maybe, too late to put a bid in for Reece James, oh well! COYW.

5.) 14 Sep 2020 23:01:27
Now there I can agree, what a player! What is it about English Youth Systems and RB's at the moment?! We have more depth in that one position (nationally) than the rest of the defence put together! Weird 🤔.

6.) 15 Sep 2020 08:23:08
I don't think it's an issue with the system bullyboy.

The issue is that there aren't many good wing backs around. The top clubs look for alternative ways of creating wing backs.

Hence why there is TAA and AMN.

7.) 15 Sep 2020 10:12:42
Re Eriksen. He is great going forwards but far from certain he would be willing to subsume his own interests for the greater good and work hard defensively. The way we play and yesterday after a fast start was no different is always going to require your central mids to work their socks off.
Again we only had 45% possession and for 20 mins early in 2nd half we were totally passive on back foot allowing SU to punch themselves out on our rock like defence. That requires all 10 to contribute. Ps I thought Vitor looked promising when he came on and willing to work.

8.) 15 Sep 2020 10:37:12
Re:Thefutureisoldgold.

Wouldn't touch eriksson with a barge pole. In this spurs documentary he is so passive. Like it's okay to say I want to leave. But he didn't cause any problems happy to sit there and wait for something to happen. Whilst Rose gets stick for wanting Ac Milan to come in for him but at least he wants to play. When there defence hadn't kept a clean sheet in 11 games.

It's interesting the view that we were passive. I understand what your saying but maybe that is a negative of the 3 at the back with wing backs formation. Players aren't capable of going 100% for 90 mins. don't mistake that for me letting Traore off the hook defensively. But Liverpool conceded 3 at the weekend so maybe that is a weakness of wingbacks?

9.) 15 Sep 2020 11:32:17
Mad- wasn't really a criticism of the system to be honest (don't think I phrased it very well) more of a point regarding the sheer wealth of talent England has at RB. When you think that Wan Bissaka isn't even getting a sniff at the team whilst playing for United (and England managers always like to give their players a chance:) then it kind of shows just how strong we are there! Crazy really 👍.

10.) 15 Sep 2020 12:53:19
Don't think we need to worry about a left back now, get AMN in for rwb, and that should be business done?

11.) 15 Sep 2020 12:53:48
First glimpse of Nunos Wolves 2.0. overlapping centre backs. Started to see Saiss push forward with Marcal dropping in as cover. Expect there to be a solid RWB signed soon to do the same covering. Underlapping CB and dove tailing with WF and WB. That means more goals from players like Saiss. Another tweak was the WF dropping into the No.10 area. With a smart chip Neto and Podense received the ball in good areas. Drawing out the opposition defenders to give space to fellow forwards. Worked a treat. This evolved tactic and formation makes Wolves solid at the back and dynamic on the counter. Hopefully a good season awaits!

12.) 15 Sep 2020 14:22:17
Erikson's a no from me even I at 68 could play a couple of decent balls every 90 mins and watch everybody else run past me for the rest!

13.) 15 Sep 2020 16:02:41
I'm happy with the system (which this weekend apart didn't hurt either us or Liverpool too much last year, although their system is different with only 2CBs and 3 Def CMS) but as i think we are all saying it does mean that your WBs are v important. They have to both give the defensive solidity we all want but also provide the out ball when the 2 in mid are not surprisingly outnumbered and therefore struggling to take hold of the game.

Doherty (OMG I'm STILL going on about him) did that perfectly (I know many don't agree! ) and Otto was pretty good too. For different reasons both are gone and (on a sample of 1 game only let's not forget) we haven't got it right yet. But we won it was a good performance with many positives - Podence was great and our bench meant that the subs did change the game positively ( even without Jota or Silva getting a kick! ) .

Nuno will sort out the WBs - maybe Marcal will just be a more defensive minded one and like Spurs did last year we will overload one side? or maybe 2 new WBs will arrive?
Still excited and v positive!

14.) 15 Sep 2020 17:15:12
Sorry Bully but your right the system doesn't work.

It's scandalous that clubs are spending 6+ years developing players then they are all playing them in the same position. Is that a system issue or an England manager issue? Probably both.

Maybe the FA of each country should have more say with a player up until the age of 21? Giving greater guidance on opportunities.

Surely we should have 3-6 options in every position. And hopefully we'd hit success with 1-2 players in each position like the golden generation.

{Ed001's Note - you usually find youngsters don't necessarily play in the first team in the same position they began in. Alexander-Arnold was a central midfielder in youth football. Wan-Bissaka was a right winger right up until an injury crisis in the Palace team forced them to ask him to play a training game at right-back. There are many other examples, so you can't really do that and what kind of club would allow the relevant FA to decide where their players are played when it would have meant players like Alexander-Arnold and Wan-Bissaka would never have got into the first team. They both emerged as right-backs because of injuries and lack of other options meaning the teams had to put someone there. Would you want Wolves to find a youngster that slots in perfectly somewhere and then have the FA tell them they can't play them there because England needs them to play in a different position?}

15.) 15 Sep 2020 19:22:55
Hi Ed. I don't think that's the issue. The issue is as you say we have a lot of players that can play a range of different positions but we don't have a England manager that would be willing to take a risk and play players in a range of different positions. For example wan bissaka could have played rb in the recent friendlies and we could have played TAA or AMN further forward.

I'm not against players playing different position if anything I embrace as a fan. Maybe more fans should so we do see the talent we have showcase what they can do like German and Spain in particular do under every manager and at every tournament even if it doesn't always pay off.

Nuno's done it with many players and it has paid off for Wolves. Such as Coady, Traore, Vinagre, Jota, Neto, Podence, Neves and Saiss to name a few. :)

{Ed001's Note - Coady started his career playing centre of a back 3 in the Liverpool youth teams, then began alternating between midfield and defence. So he was well used to it. Most youth players do play multiple positions to improve their game, but it is a different kettle of fish to do that in the pro ranks. You have to change the way you think, which is why so few utility players are very good overall and tend to just end up as fillers, rather than first choice players.

The problem with England is down to the FA's greed. They don't do anything for the benefit of the sport, but just for the benefit of their wallets. If they stopped charging obscene amounts for coaching courses, England would have a lot more top class coaches to choose from, instead of just ex-pros who get paid for by clubs. Nothing will change without more youngsters getting access to good coaching to help them through.}

16.) 15 Sep 2020 19:43:53
I agree 100% Ed.

I'll get some old rumours going again.

Any news on Telles coming anyone?

And would fans prefer AMN or Corona?

17.) 15 Sep 2020 21:16:44
Well we won't be seeing Arias at rwb as he's signed for Sevilla, guess that means his agent has been doing his job.

08 Sep 2020 09:20:10
Vitor Ferreira Supposedly signing on a season long loan, with option to make it permanent for 20 million, just been on sky sports.

De wolf was god

1.) 08 Sep 2020 10:47:08
Fosun certainly have the bit between their teeth. It's not finished yet. Over at Villa Park I see they're short of cash but just about saved up enough to buy Matty Cash from the championship. When the dust has settled I would not be surprised to find that Wolves were one of the busier clubs in this transfer window. That will settle our nerves and give credence to the view that Doherty's move was for footballing reasons rather than financial.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 15:13:28
I never thought it was financial but more because it was his last chance to play at that level and he was a useful but not essential team member so could be replaced.

3.) 08 Sep 2020 15:31:40
Look at the players we've bought and are linked with, compare and contrast with Villa. i.e Catty Mash and Olly Wally ha ha ha. Also, why the negativity about Saiss, World Class.

4.) 08 Sep 2020 15:37:28
Villa may be short of cash but they just oitlayed 33m for Ollie Watkins from Brentford . wish I was that short of cash!

5.) 08 Sep 2020 15:45:02
Wozza- They soon will be short of cash offering that level of finance for a player that's 24 and still only ever scored goals in the Champ! Don't get me wrong he could do the job but people were saying this all last window about Villas signings and turns out all they had was a top half Champ team! They were VERY lucky Watford imploded else they would be back down at there squads (and managers) natural level right now! 🤣.

6.) 08 Sep 2020 15:45:45
I like Sais but we have VERY different ideas of what World class looks like Preston!

7.) 08 Sep 2020 15:56:30
Ollie Watkins looks a good buy for Villa, especially as Dean Smith managed him at Brentford. But, at £28 mil plus add-ons I'm glad it's not Wolves buying him! Coady will eat him for breakfast.

8.) 08 Sep 2020 16:07:56
Sort of 'tongue in cheek, about Saiss. But, he has been steady in the back 3, and was very good alongside Neves in Championship season. 33m for Olly Wolly! Really, Villa are doomed. Bring 'em on, and the Boggies . 12 points already COYW.

9.) 08 Sep 2020 16:23:05
Haha, fair enough Preston. Like I said I do like him and no one can question his commitment when playing but (for me) despite trying his best and being excellent in the air he just doesn't have the temperament or patience in the tackle to ever be a top CB. Good squad player mind, great to bring on with 10 to go when defending a lead but if we want to kick on then we need another natural CB. Marcal looks like a great acquisition and like he could play that role, mind you he also looks like he gets booked a fair bit as well! Can't wait for the first match now! 👍.

10.) 08 Sep 2020 17:26:03
To be fair, I thought that Watkins might be a good back up for Raul. But that was before we acquired High Ho Fabio Silva.

11.) 08 Sep 2020 18:22:48
I think Watkins is a decent enough player but remember the context. He's a year older than Maupay when he moved and both scored 25 goals the season before moving and yet (probs due to English player premium) Watkins is costing about £15m more than Maupay (when considering add ons)! Now consider that in his first season Maupay scored 10 goals in the Prem! If like Brighton those 10 goals help you stay up then its good business, if not then you suddenly have a club record player who mostly scores goals in the Champ! Also looking at Villas defence record last year compared to Brighton then Watkins is going to need to score a lot closer to 25 goals big ask that! 🤔
One thing that is for sure is that Brentfords recruitment system really is top notch! 👍.

12.) 08 Sep 2020 18:24:13
If Watkins is worth that much we are right to fish in Portugal for our players.

13.) 08 Sep 2020 19:19:53
BullysBoy. He'll come in useful next year in the championship.

14.) 08 Sep 2020 20:05:31
@old-wulf, that's the first time I've heard that one. Hi ho Fabio Silva has got one hell of a ring to it. He's going to have to be some player to earn the walk out song being sung about him, but I've got goosebumps thinking about it.

. hopefully he doesn't end up as a Tomasz Frankowski!

15.) 08 Sep 2020 21:14:55
About the same amount we paid for Raul who wasn't experienced. Could work or blow up in their face. Hopefully the latter.

16.) 08 Sep 2020 21:53:09
Sean- Raul wasn't experienced, you kidding buddy?! He'd already played for Athletico Madrid and Benfica, playing regular in the League and Champs League for both! Oh also being a main stay for Mexico for the majority of his career, so yeah apart from all that he was basically a novice 😂 I think what you mean is that he wasn't prolific and there you would be correct, bizarrely we are the first club he's hit double figures for in a season since leaving South America! 👍.

17.) 09 Sep 2020 08:46:58
Raul from Benfica or Ollie from Brentford I mean I hope Villa fans won't be disappointed but I know who I would choose and he had loads of experience.

18.) 09 Sep 2020 09:32:36
For athletic he scored 1 goal in 18 appearances and for benfica he scored 18 in 80 appearances. So not amazing stats really for a forward. Believe me I'm not taking anything away from him, it's just taken Nuno and the squad around him for his talent to show.

19.) 09 Sep 2020 11:26:47
Rumour has it Wolverhampton is changing its name to Portohampton.

20.) 09 Sep 2020 10:51:45
@ Seanmorton95 the important thing in the goal:game ratio is time played, substitutions can skewiff the figures.

21.) 09 Sep 2020 10:56:23
Window Wolf
Last chance to plat at "THAT LEVEL" -what do you mean? I accept they have a bigger stadium and more recent success than us but at the moment surely we are at the same level - only goal difference divided us last year and there are good arguments to say we obtained something like half a dozen or so less points than we should have and thus would have ended the year well clear of them.
Do you really think Spurs will soar above this year?
I'm confident we will be in the shout for the Europa places again as they will.
This of course is caveated by your other point and with less than week to go I hope you are correct (and I presume Nuno agrees with you or he wouldn't haves sold him so you must be correct) but it doesn't look like it at the moment.
ps I am a grumpy, sensitive and v nervous fan so sorry for snapping.
pps I am not Matt's grandad but I thought he was our 3rd best attacking player last year - which for a right back made him pretty special but again it seems that others more knowledgeable and important agree with you and not me. I hope Mourinho and I are wrong!

22.) 09 Sep 2020 21:02:20
Thefutureisoldgold.

Your right Doc had become instrumental to the way wolves played under Nuno.

However after the defeat to Sevilla, I think it became clear that wolves needed to improve the sum of all parts of the squad.

I still expect a few transactions this summer. We don't have a Rwb, we don't have a CM and arguably we need a LWB (if marcal plays in LCB as he did for Lyon) . The Porto contingent are for the future and will further supplement the first team as the season progresses.

23.) 09 Sep 2020 23:54:43
Mad- As usual buddy I agree with most of what your saying. The one thing I would say is that I think we may have our CM, Vitor has come in on loan with a bit of hype and I think he's come to play. Not saying he'll be starting every week but if its a loan he's got to get the chance to prove his worth and if the clips are anything to go by (which granted can be deceiving) then the lads ready to bring something to the table! Think your right about still needing a RWB but certainly exciting times! COYW 👍.

News coming out of Greece is Podence fee agreed 20 million euros apparently due in wolves tomorrow for medical
Hope this is true.

Nash has confirmed it mate.

2.) 28 Jan 2020 21:56:43
My understanding (from what I’ve been told) is that the club had set a loose figure of spending but it has a limit.
The £16.9 mill cost for Podence gives us flexibility on the forward, no name given, so I don’t know.
ATW.

3.) 28 Jan 2020 22:53:04
You can't fault the bargains they get. Actually the value they get out of all the transfer deals.

Cutrone didn't pan out fair enough but the fee for that was a very good deal.

Certainly don't get mugged off by anyone.

4.) 28 Jan 2020 23:23:10
Given that the Baggies want to spend £4m on him have been told by his club he’s not for sale, given Wolves we’re only prepared so buy Oliveria for £3.65m, I’m saying no, it makes no sense.

15 Jul 2019 15:45:21
Apparently Wallace from lazio will be confirmed by tonight 5.4 million.

De wolf was god

1.) 15 Jul 2019 16:06:39
Yeah centre half looks strong on ball, fast plays in a back three for Lazio, so used to our system.

2.) 15 Jul 2019 16:57:38
We’ll hold you to that.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 17:28:30

He has so much amnaesia it’s laughable
Hopes we buy him.

My friend in Rome, a Lazio supporter says physically and technically strong mentally a disaster. Says he has amnaesia hopes we buy him.

To be honest he’d get on well with Traore 🤣.

8.) 15 Jul 2019 22:57:57
100% I was😂😢.

9.) 16 Jul 2019 13:39:18
When some of you guys go to the larder and see that the food stock is getting low, do you panic and shout and ball at the wife, or do you trust that you will always have some food available to you for when you need it?
When the beer stocks look to be getting low in the man-fridge you simply go and buy some and your concerns are alleviated.

A football transfer window is much the same. If YOU were doing the buying you would have spent up already and be satisfied that your fridge was stocked.
Just PLEASE have some faith in the team that run our wonderful club, just like you have faith in the wife filling your larder when needed!

Also, get used to the prospect of some of the youngsters coming through. We haven't had that for a while but it is going to start happening and we will not need to go and blow out brains out on every transfer.

It’s funny all these villa supporters coming out of the woodwork, where were they last season when they were crap every week? They seem to be forgetting they are only still in the division due to a failure in the hawk eye technology, or in other words they cheated Watford into relegation, hmmm something to be proud of!

They have beaten Sheffield United (who look poor this season) and Fulham who look nailed on for relegation, let’s look at the table again at Christmas and see if they have all disappeared again. I bet they are all crying again, they were rubbish last season and they will be again this season as smith is clueless and out of his depth.

Yep. this is why we love the game. and the rivalry.

03 Sep 2020 07:58:00
This will be a very unpopular post given what took place after Wembley, but I would be tempted to take a punt on Deeney from Watford, sort of player who can come on with 20 minutes left and nab a goal.

De wolf was god

1.) 03 Sep 2020 09:54:57
De Wolf ;Chelsea spend £250million and you want us to compete by signing Troy Deeney?

2.) 03 Sep 2020 10:21:39
Ha ha deeney!
Sooner have Troy tempest😁😁😁.

3.) 03 Sep 2020 10:59:31
Deeny will never be welcome at Molinuex.

4.) 03 Sep 2020 11:17:13
At the moment we are a million miles away from competing with Chelsea I’m afraid, Chelsea will have money to burn due to their transfer embargo finishing.
There is no way on the face of the earth we will be spending 40-50 million on one player we will be looking At players in the 10-20 million bracket. Deeney would cost around 5 million from what I understand and the reason I said Deeney who do we have as an option to Jiménez at the minute? Another shout is Wilson at Bournemouth but he’s going to be the 20 million mark. I’m not being rude but if you think we are competing with Chelsea for transfers your in cloud cuckoo land. Look how much Everton have already spent! 2 of the people they have signed we were supposedly interested in.

5.) 03 Sep 2020 14:04:47
Deeney would be a massive backward step and a true sign that Fosun are not prepared to push on. However, it's all conjecture so let's hope we get some real quality through the door.

6.) 03 Sep 2020 16:53:30
Not interested in competing. Throwing everything down the pan.

This is the same super jack who said he was off if you didn’t get promoted, also the same super jack that said he was off if you got relegated! The same super jack that broke lockdown rules, drunk drove and left the scene of an accident! That super jack? All the villa fans giving it the billy big bolllocks when we lost to stoke, err how you lot got on tonight?
Short memories a lot of villa fans I think.
