Being reported by the Daily Mail (I know) Sa off to Saudi Arabia for up to £40m and the club scouting for a replacement!

Arddunby1

1.) 19 Nov 2023 12:32:01
Saw that Ard. An opportunity or a problem? I'm not sure.
Would love them to be thinking of a RB and pay that sort of money for the current incumbent!

2.) 19 Nov 2023 12:58:16
Sell him only if one of, Alisson, Ederson, Oblak or Donnarumma are his replacement. If not, no need to sell.

{Ed002's Note - None of those players are joining Wolves.

Jose Sa (GK) Wolves want to keep him. Mendes wants him to move on. The player will likely be interested in a potential move to rge Middle East will be. On the list for Michael Emanalo.}

3.) 19 Nov 2023 13:34:53
I think it's both Rugeley if the price touted is correct it's good money but getting an international quality replacement in may be easier said than done!

4.) 19 Nov 2023 13:39:42
I know Ed, the point I'm making is that we've got a pretty good keeper and we should be happy.

5.) 19 Nov 2023 14:58:11
Might not be so hard to replace actually, how about Ramsdale?

6.) 19 Nov 2023 15:48:58
DeGea is a free agent but will they join us.

7.) 19 Nov 2023 16:16:11
I think De Gea's wage expectations would be out of Wolves reach given trying to stay within the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. Now there is a benchmark (should Everton's ten points deduction be upheld after appeal).

Apparently he turned down a lucrative deal to play in the Middle East, 330k p/w.

8.) 19 Nov 2023 17:13:03
Ramsdale won't come because:

He's on £120k a week
Arsenal want minimum of £50m for him
He's a Baggies fan (allegedly)

De Gea was on £350k per week at Mab Utd. If he's prepared to earn a fraction of that then OK.

9.) 19 Nov 2023 19:15:56
Don’t rate de Gea, too many mistakes in him
Some decent numbers twos around…
Kelleher at Liverpool could be a good shout
Dubravka at Newcastle
Fabianski at WHU

10.) 19 Nov 2023 20:26:43
Henderson at Palace - currently injured.
However outside of the Prem there will surely be loads of goalkeepers, (who could adequately play in the Prem), that sadly I have never heard of that we could buy for a fraction of £40m.
The Croatian national keeper, Livakovic, who has looked decent on the addmittedly handful of occassions I have seen him - was signed this summer for sub £10m!.
Also didn't both Brighton and Brentford sign new number 1s this summer from the Netherlands with neither costing more than mid teens - ie a lot lot less than the putative £40m!
So whilst I am ok with Sa if we can really get £40m - which would solve all our FFP problems for at least a year! - it is too much to turn down!

11.) 19 Nov 2023 23:25:33
Is he good enough to play for Newcastle?

12.) 22 Nov 2023 08:34:05
Agree with you TFOG. The bottom line for me is that we can’t let Sa go in January before we have an excellent replacement signed up. Our reserve keeper couldn’t hold down his place at Bristol City.

22 Jul 2023 17:51:17
Tony Roberts off to AC Milan according to the E and S.

Arddunby1

1.) 22 Jul 2023 17:56:31
Mike Stowell should replace him .

2.) 22 Jul 2023 19:23:29
He would be a popular choice with supporters lostcity.

3.) 22 Jul 2023 20:31:08
Posted in other posts around 3:10pm.

4.) 22 Jul 2023 20:48:44
Hardly ever look there Rated to be honest.

5.) 22 Jul 2023 21:05:20
A lot of stuff goes in there now, it's worth checking there often.

6.) 23 Jul 2023 09:17:32
Towelling has moved on from being a specialist goalkeeper coach. He has been first team coach at Leicester under numerous managers. I think he would be looking for a similar role.

7.) 23 Jul 2023 12:15:47
Perhaps Stowell could combine two coaching roles. He would be a great asset to our club.

06 Jul 2023 12:01:03
Supposedly we have bid 15m euros for Victor Nelson of Galatasaray. Spurs in pole position , Galatasaray want 25m euros.

Linked with Chuba akpom from Middlesborough, maybe he's one of the championship players that JLo was alluding to recently. Let's just see what happens the situation should be clearer one way or the other by the middle of next week.

Arddunby1

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

1.) 25 May 2023 14:58:52
Ed002 I'm not!

29 Oct 2022 21:29:32

2.) 30 Oct 2022 10:26:55

17 Nov 2023 12:32:35
Everton just received 10 point deduction-BBC report!- applies immediately!

Arddunby1

1.) 17 Nov 2023 13:13:50
WOW!
Surely they will appeal and it will be suspended?
Astonished!
Chelsea and Man City next?

2.) 17 Nov 2023 13:18:35
About time arddunby, now let's see what Leicester Leeds and Burnley do regarding legal action.

3.) 17 Nov 2023 13:29:08
The BBC have already updated their League tables which puts Everton on 4 points and equal bottom.

4.) 17 Nov 2023 13:29:54
They will stay up anyway but at least they have been punished.

5.) 17 Nov 2023 14:32:17
Wow. Just checked the table and yes adjusted already. Vindicates the decisions made in the summer and hopefully stands us in nice position come summer 2024. Now the PL has made this statement how many other clubs will be panicking, Chelsea, Forest, definitely.

6.) 17 Nov 2023 15:18:42
I very much like Neville Southall's take on the punishment. His view is the rules were broken irrespective of what any other club has done so you just suck it up take it on the chin and get on with getting the points to stay in the Premier League. Refreshing instead of doom and gloom! Right attitude, done wrong so go and put it right.

Good article in the Athletic by Steve Madeley on Gary O'Neil's first hundred days in charge. A very good insight in how he's changed things around and the trust he's put in the players. A good read I thought.

7.) 17 Nov 2023 17:20:56
Agreed Ken but if the League had dealt with this last season when this came to light Everton would be in the Championship now.

This rubs salt in the wounds of the club's that were relegated plus Burnley from the season before when most of this actually occured

8.) 17 Nov 2023 17:43:06
I heard it lunchtime Neville Southall too.
I think exactly the same as you Ken.
Will read Steve Madeley article in the athletic at a later time.
But nice one Ken for posting about it as I may of missed it otherwise.
COYW

9.) 17 Nov 2023 17:54:45
Probably correct Deep, it maybe a low points total will be required to stay up this season.

10.) 17 Nov 2023 20:02:02
Bet it's reduced to 3 points on appeal.

11.) 18 Nov 2023 12:37:09
Longmynd.
I would agree that action taken sooner would have been much better but with accounts taking a long time to prepare and all the legal aspects having to be checked. It's hardly surprising that the process is more complicated than we think. It would be wonderful if a committee could sit every season and sort things out but not that easy.
A government ombudsman would not improve things anyway just add another level to the process and become another layer of jobs for the boys, we have enough of that already.

12.) 18 Nov 2023 16:00:59
To be fair to the Premier League Ken they did want it heard last year. It was the independent committee that couldn't meet that timescale

08 Nov 2023 13:07:09
Nuno sacked, BBC reporting that JLo been approached to take over but he prefers to wait for an Enhlish opportunity.

Arddunby1

1.) 08 Nov 2023 13:41:13
Again, the disrespect shown towards us is clear to see. BBC headline the article 'Former Spurs Manager sacked' and then mention us as a footnote.

2.) 08 Nov 2023 16:55:25
Indeed Jas spurs manager for about 5 games, Wolves manager for 5 seasons!

3.) 08 Nov 2023 17:29:07
Yep, sums it up perfectly.

4.) 08 Nov 2023 17:29:12
I noticed that Jas, wasn't he manager for about 2 months?

5.) 09 Nov 2023 11:20:55
Bright lights, big city, these so called journos can't see out or any further.

15 Jul 2023 20:58:03
Being reported Mike Dean has retired from the PGMOL and will not officiate again! Can we count that as a new signing on a free transfer!

Arddunby1

1.) 15 Jul 2023 21:02:58
????

2.) 15 Jul 2023 22:47:39
Thank god for that let's hope we will get fairer decisions now.

3.) 16 Jul 2023 08:54:44
One down!

4.) 16 Jul 2023 14:05:53
Good ridance I hope the door twonked him one on the way out.

It depends on his book value to some degree he signed in January 2020 so he can't have long left on his contract surely.

If you have to close each existing stand for a season to add a few thousand extra seats, it's going to be 3 to 4 years and multi millions in cash spent on top of lost gate receipts before any benefit is realised. In truth Covid was probably the best time to develop at least one stand as nobody was at the matches.

It is a tough start and we really need to keep clear of injuries and suspensions during the opening run of fixtures as we will need a full squad available for selection during the less tougher looking games. The bonus I suppose is that it gives us a chance to get up to speed against the better sides.

I kind of agree cb73 I think we'll need a clean sheet to win, I don't know if we can do that against this Spanish side. If we get to penalties it will be a good result, win or lose after that who knows.

Southgate didn't have a great premier league career as a manager, a couple of seasons at Middlesbrough if I recall correctly. I would say he us a far better manager than coach. Gary Neville hit the nail bang on the head when he said as a player, as well as better players than him and the managers didn't have a clue how to get through tournaments. Southgate has worked through the lower ranks of the FA and was probably appointed because no one else wanted the job. Maybe that's what we've done right without knowing it, he's had close to 10 years or more to look at every aspect of what we are doing to prepare and identified the issues costing us. How many times have I heard prior managers say we don't prepare for penalties!. Yes the team selection will always be criticised but in fairness the available pool is now so much smaller than Ramsey had available and a Holland 74 or Hungary 54 only come along once in a blue moon (and they never won it) so we need to get tge most out of what we've got, which means selecting competent professionals.

I would say we've moved from a last 16/8 expectation to a last 8/4 expectation (what Germany were in the 70s and 80s). This is the most successful spell I can remember, let's not do something daft because we aren't playing like Brazil 70.
