According to Liam Keen on The Transfer Tavern there is activity going on behind the scenes transfer wise. Believe it when you see it. Hope they not going to let JLo down like they did with Nuno and Bruno. One third of January window now gone and only one new player through the door. That deal was done over Xmas!

Hmm the sticky point is if we want a player we can't say we are aiming for Europe so we actually struggle to sign better players than we have.
Julen will improve the shape and style of play no end.
But I think Hobbs and Julen should work closely on players need like Thelwell and Nuno.
I'd take a cb with experience, a forward who can create and score. And a championship striker at the moment.
The Swedish lad at Coventry looks good as a punt and maybe Diaz at Blackburn for an option as striker.
Just saying the club have said 6 players so maybe a mixture of quality, experience and risks that we can sell on fto championship club after staying up.
Also we don't know if the club have been after players like Badiashiale or Felix I know both are quality but it is clear that both were available this window.
Maybe there was more to both of these deals and why there has been a delay with them both?
Personally think Badiashiale and Felix need to go to clubs where they will be playing is Chelsea that club? I don't think so it's a machine.

Has anyone got any idea who the new injury victim is? As mentioned on Birmingham Live. The club are keeping it to themselves at present. Just gets better and better

redzoton

1.) 04 Jan 2023 09:10:40
Knowing our luck it will be Cunha won't it.

2.) 04 Jan 2023 10:02:46
It may be Podence did not see him in training photos.

3.) 04 Jan 2023 14:56:02
It's B Traore I think, you know what Birmingham live are like.

4.) 04 Jan 2023 16:29:04
It’s Podence. Literally been said by everyone from Nathan Judah to Dave at Talking Wolves.

5.) 04 Jan 2023 20:50:45
Yet Podence is playing and scored I told you already it was B Traore.

Goncalo Ramos is the latest name we are being linked with via sportsmole. Young striker from Benfica. Looks a useful playe

redzoton

1.) 08 Jul 2022 14:15:34
Allegedly they want 40-45M euros for him so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Although Benfica have plenty of attacking options, they seem adamant about their valuation but time will tell, one way or another.

2.) 08 Jul 2022 15:52:43
I hope this isn't true else it would just be yet another bizarre transfer policy! We shift Fabio out to replace him with an over priced, 20 year old, Portuguese striker who almost certainly also won't be ready for the Prem (sound familiar)?! At this stage it's just click bait so who knows?!

3.) 08 Jul 2022 16:28:37
Apparently Bruno Lage knows him well from his time at Benfica so wouldn't be surprised to see this one happen

4.) 08 Jul 2022 18:15:55
Ben Mee worth a punt but why would you get rid and replace with a player of the same age or similar. All about the money I guess!
He's solid not spectacular.

5.) 08 Jul 2022 19:47:31
Ken - v good shout!
1 counts as home grown and we are tight against our limit
2 can play in a 2
3 is an adult
4 proven premier league experience
5 no transfer fee - so yes replaces Saiss at no up front cost and probably not on vastly different wage?

6.) 08 Jul 2022 20:49:17
6- he also happens to be left footed so really would be a great like for like replacement for Saiss all round
Great shout Ken ?

7.) 08 Jul 2022 21:27:56
Great shout but when did we last recruit from these islands? Ruddy?

8.) 08 Jul 2022 21:58:34
We signed the young full back from Rochdale a while ago didn't we. Can't remember his name was on loan last season at Scunthorpe.

9.) 08 Jul 2022 22:37:09
Luke Matheson, he was a big deal after playing awesome and scoring the equaliser in the cup agaisnt United at the grand old age of 16! He's spent most of his time on loan at lower levels but will be 20 in October so maybe that's why we shifted Hooever on. Would be nice to see some of these lads get a chance, especially if it means we actually have a squad! Even if only in pre season friendlies before heading back out again ?

10.) 08 Jul 2022 23:52:58
I also expect a punt on Almeda for about 8m and Icardi on loan. So that's three decent players for less than 10m.
Well Sellars and Shi that's how you do it and you don't need to sell anyone. If MGW doesn't like it sell him, he's not the manager Bruno is! ?

11.) 09 Jul 2022 02:08:58
Dwight MnNeil would do a job for us I think. 22 years old, has proven himself in the Premier league and would count as home grown, from what I saw £25million is Burnleys price.

12.) 09 Jul 2022 03:12:43
Ramos has a £102 million release clause in his contract, has only scored 8 times in 46 appearances, we hardly need another goal shy forward

13.) 09 Jul 2022 10:21:34
Rated, granted he's a decent player but we don't really need more wide players tbh. Not something we are short of mate.

14.) 09 Jul 2022 10:22:39
Rated - Dwight Mcneil would indeed be a useful squad player. I am not sure he would make the first 11 ahead of Neto, Podence or Traore on the wing but maybe as an attacking midfield player he would be an option particularly if we swith to a 3 in the midfield?
The market for him, and lots of teams seem interested according to the press, does appear to be £10m+ rather than the somewhat optimistic £25m so maybe he might even be a bit cheaper than at first glance.
However given the paucity of funds we have and the pressing needs elsewhere I'm not sure I would prioritise McNeil
First need is surely the spine of the team - we need a CD, a CM - Mcneil is only really a winger masquerading as a midfielder - Podence could do the same job?- and a now a CF- either a back up if you have faith in a Jimenez recovery or a first choice if you don't?
Thoughts?

15.) 09 Jul 2022 10:45:47
Anybody got any tboughts on Bruno Jordao for this season?

16.) 09 Jul 2022 10:56:51
Arddunby probably keep him for the bench with this 5 subs lark he could prove useful late in games.

17.) 09 Jul 2022 10:58:49
future, we agree, shock!

There is always a Black Country derby to look forward to again.
Have never been so ashamed to be a Wolves fan. No fight, no plan, poor manager. definitely for relegation. 20 odd goals conceded already. No hope

redzoton

1.) 05 Oct 2024 23:10:13
Our derbies next season will be against Stoke and Blues. I think Baggies will go up.

2.) 06 Oct 2024 05:29:27
Whichever way I look at it, with the players we have I can’t see how we can put out a premier league standard defence. Without that, nothing else matters. Fosun we are constantly told are an investment company. Well they are about to find out that their investment has collapsed in value all because they penny pinched and failed to recruit even one centre back to replace Kilman. (We really needed two). Meanwhile GON full of hubris thought he could play like Man City with four at the back but failed to appreciate he didn’t have Man City class defenders. Hubris has met nemesis I’m afraid.

3.) 06 Oct 2024 06:33:58
It's going to be a January sales I fear innocent, that's unless we have some miraculous change in form, which if i'm honest with myself I can't see happening.
It'll be 'cash in' to limit the costs in the championship and we'll be left struggling there again.
I can't see any more investment from fosun. Shi dosnt address his clubs fans directly, only selected 'contrary' words in the telegraph as far as I'm aware. Fosun havnt really backed us since Saville and covid, yes they chucked some cash in with lopetegui etc to retain premier status but at a cost of players later to recoup it and comply with ffp, or did they? Shi didn't seem to think it was that bad.
Yesterday summed up the true situation of things as we stand, we've not got a balanced team, the defence in particular are desperately lacking regardless of injuries, and GON's persistence as backfired awfully.
Where we go from here I can't guess. Will we stick with GON, who'd be prepared to take over a sinking ship if he did go? Will fosun Jack the project or gamble on more money and who would want ownership demanding the finances we'd need to resurrect ourselves?.
It's a worrying, embarrassing day to wake up to, I'd hope before, I'd write results off to the fixtures we'd had, the injuries etc, but yesterday showed the size of our problem.

4.) 06 Oct 2024 07:40:19
And when we are relegated Cunha, Andre, RAN, Semedo, Gomes will depart and Lemina will be out of contract leaving us with a squad that will struggle to compete in the Championship. What a shambles.

5.) 06 Oct 2024 12:18:31
I'm inclined to agree innocent, a back 4 needs 4 new specialists if we go with a 3 at least 2 new faces.

I don't even respond to him anymore, oneor two seem to get a kick out of posting false rumours, maybe they are part of Talking Wolves?

2.) 06 Jan 2023 16:51:14
If you read his posts, he’d contradict himself with his replies. TheTinkerman was the exact same, I suspect they’re the same person with different usernames. No doubt the account holder will pop-up in the summer with a different username.

3.) 06 Jan 2023 17:47:19
My concern is that there are no oven ready players to come in. The Fosun model is to bring on youngsters or unknowns and make an income from moving those on at a profit. It is possible that JL relishes that to make a name in the Prem keeping us up by improving what we have into a cohesive team. The purchase of Cunha being sanctioned to save our status. Other incoming may be within that model.

4.) 06 Jan 2023 19:08:08
It's experience we need Wimborne and I suspect being a relegation situation isn't that enticing, even with JL. It'll be big money incentives to lure quality in and we're back to fosun etc being prepared to gamble. Plenty of names being bandied about but all seem clickbait postings. Only first week of window but some news soon would be welcomed, I can't stand hanging around hoping again with disappointment on the 31st.

5.) 06 Jan 2023 21:25:48
Take your point Abbey, and deep down I hope you are right, logic about big money to spend as a lure is supporting that view. I just have that niggling doubt that Fosun are hoping J L will work magic with what we have. I will be very happy if you are right.

Does anyone know if Bonatini is fit or even if he is training or indeed in the country? He has to be worth a try in an emergency!

redzoton

1.) 02 Nov 2022 10:57:29
Well well well,looks like lopetagu,is finally joining us,as apparently,fosun,have promised him a substantial,budget,in Jan,
So that's the real reason his snubbed us,coz they wouldn't spend a big amount,I suppose he told them how much he would need to spend to sort things out,now they have agreed, very interesting

2.) 02 Nov 2022 11:57:17
Greyleg, conflicting stories about who approached who this time, but it would appear that Lopetegui is getting a significantly better deal out of them. Better remuneration, more control and money to spend, so as you say, interesting. Let's hope he's worth it.

As for Bonatini redzoton, it's looking more and more like a hushed-up alien abduction.

3.) 02 Nov 2022 12:30:05
Lopetegui turned us down for genuine reasons but since then, 2 significant things have happened.

1: His father's condition has either improved or stabilised or finalised and Lopetegui is no longer required to remain with him.

2: As I said at the time, during the debacle against Leicester, Shi looked a worried man. I think Guo has called him and put a rocket up his rear end and told him that Lopetegui is the man they want and to make it happen so remove to barriers such as Sellars dictating the backroom staff and incoming players.

I think Lopetegui has identified the areas that need improvement and has told Shi to negotiate with his targets between now and January so that they can hit the ground running.

Let's just see what happens.

It's never straight forward being a Wolves fan is it.

4.) 02 Nov 2022 13:39:10
I wonder if any of the Wolves hierarchy read these like they reckon they do
Looks like they do things might start happening now fingers crossed ?

5.) 02 Nov 2022 13:40:48
Hi Jas, I broadly agree with your comments.
Would add this Fosun concern happened back in the summer, when it felt Guangchang bypassed Shi and had Mendes spend the £100 million
(not sure how wisely, seemed like a panic mode operation).
Be interesting to see if other changes happen, if/when Lopetegui is appointed.

6.) 02 Nov 2022 17:32:20
Apparently,he's identified,Mariano Diaz,from real Madrid,striker he knows well,and that's just for starters

7.) 02 Nov 2022 17:53:46
Is Lopetegui a Mendes client?

8.) 02 Nov 2022 18:25:29
Apparently Lopetegui has instigated the talks, like Jas says he wants to improve the squad and Fosun state they will give him funds to do so. let's hope this happens but it won't be till after the World Cup.?

9.) 02 Nov 2022 19:19:18
Lopetegui is a Mendes client Porthminster.

Jas agree never straight forward.

But being middle aged mostly all we known.

But I grew up with the legend Steve Bull as my hero and that was better than anything and anyone player.

10.) 03 Nov 2022 06:03:29
Phil now my little wonder is player of month and signed anew contract, big money will be offered at some point but I'm so pleased to see young beuno make the grade and commit to us. Let's have more of his enthusiasm and dedication.

11.) 03 Nov 2022 06:37:48
I remembered you Abbey posting last year or so about how much you rate Beuno in the u23's.
Really good to see our youth making it into the first team.
Our club deserves credit for that.

Abbey Saturday be very very interesting to see if our players all step up a notch with the talk of the new manager they will be inspired to do better to impress I'm hoping.
A 1 nil win I would take but prefer a minimum of 3 goals.
Lol 2 own goals and a sublime Adama bombing forward with the speed and grace of a race horse holding off challenges to hack him down having the strength of 10 Yak polishing it off with the precision of an assassin sniper in off the corner of the upright and crossbar.

12.) 03 Nov 2022 09:35:20
Paints a picture phil! If it happens I'll watch it over and over. A bit worried if I'm honest, Seagulls having beaten Chelsea will be on a high, we may be playing to impress a new boss, but we're still limited in options and will have to rely on guedes or hwang. I'd prefer the contentious option of adama in the middle or even chucking chem in for a debut, he's another who impressed me in the U23s. I think pods and beuno are getting an understanding on left, adama and semedo on right, nunes/neves attacking from midfield but we still need a centre hence guedes/hwang or Chem. What else can we do. Collins and kilman seem to lose positioning and concentration and that's something I hope they'll be working on. Obviously I want the win but sadly it may have to settle for a draw. But I'll be optimistic on the day and backing me old gold no matter what.

13.) 03 Nov 2022 11:17:11
Shi has promised julen £150 million budget in January

Proven manager.

redzoton

1.) 12 Oct 2022 13:47:11
Absolutely redzoton, I'd be happy with him. As most of the names being put forward have no Premier League experience we need someone in the ascendency or at the peak of their powers, not someone who is exhausted and needs a break.

2.) 12 Oct 2022 18:27:41
Good manager but again guys I think with any suggestion we need to ask the question, why would he want to come?! Porto are reigning Champs with a regular spot in the Champs league. Why would he trade that for second from bottom at a club that has also almost certainly spent most of their budget for the season (and poorly it would seem)?! I'd love to be wrong but I think the Lopi situation should have been a wake up call to be honest. Pretty sure Jeff's had one, this club isn't an easy sell these days and Jeff should be the first person asking himself why that is! ?

3.) 12 Oct 2022 21:44:02
Spot on Bully’s, I’m expecting a sign out the front of Molineux: “Manager wanted, no experience necessary”. The incompetence shown by Shi and Sellars is breathtaking. Surely they should have had a new manager nailed down before they sacked Lage?

You seem to have a lot of knowledge about how much and when Liverpool have made payments. Have you got contacts inside the club? These details are usually a closely guarded secret available only to those within the clubs inner sanctum
