According to the Sun "Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on bringing Club Brugge center-back Odilon Kossounou to the Premier League when the summer transfer window opens. "

Defense does need to be addressed, as well as the Lh B/ LWB situation - Marçal seems to be injury-plagued (known before he signed) and I cannot see Rayan Aït-Nouri being bought for 20m.

Another area that needs to be resolved is João Moutinho's long terms successor, at 34 he doesn't have long left in the game (sadly but that's footbaal)

Semi rant over.

Debbie - not a rant just a couple of valid points.
AM i. e. Moutinho replacement, is the most obvious need but RCB is also pretty important. After that Back up ( or replacement if Jimenez doesn't make it back) CF and LWB (as sadly Marcal doesn't seem to be robust enough to be counted) would be nice.

Sadly for roughly £20m a pop unless they show far more during the run in none of the 3 loaned in players have done anywhere near enough to justify such high fees. Maybe renegotiate to a more realistic level - with add ons - or perhaps extend loan to give them further chances?
With RAN it does depend on your view on Marcal and if we can shift Vinagre.
The price we sell Vinagre at should also be a good guide as to the value of these kids - surely we wouldn't pay much of a premium if any to swap Vinagre for RAN as they look similar.

3.) 22 Feb 2021 12:14:11
Before thinking about buying any on-loan players at £20mil a pop, I would rather look at the home market and in particular the relegated PL teams for bargains.

4.) 22 Feb 2021 17:10:56
agreed - see thread on Banter page for discussion on very topic.

5.) 26 Feb 2021 17:57:06
Aït Nouri, who is only 19, seems to me to have held his own very well in EPL, and appears to be creative when he helps with the attack. I would think he will be certainly be kept at that price.

6.) 28 Feb 2021 22:08:29
Dendoncker is the player normally in for Moutinho when he's not needed at CB

We also have Vitinha and MGW but I don't think they will be Wolves players next season.

7.) 02 Mar 2021 22:04:37
Wolves were hideous tonight, it could have been and should of been much worse than 4-1. Talk about rolling over to have your tummy tickled, Nuno looked like a manager out of his depth with nothing but an empty head, no idea what so ever. I feel the end is close for Nuno, he has done as much as he can for Wolves and no longer looks a capable manager now results are becoming hard to achieve. Any manager looks good when the team is winning, where they earn their salt is when things are going wrong, for his first time as Wolves manager it is getting tough and when solutions are now needed he has come up well short.

8.) 03 Mar 2021 23:29:22
Excellent result tonight, AVF. Looking forward to the weekend?

Cutrone has been recalled from Fiorentina. Looks like no loan strikers coming in (at a guess)

Debbie McGee

1.) 07 Jan 2021 11:37:00
On deadline day we will sign a 17 year old wonderkid from Doncaster for 40 million quid! Other than that we ain't getting anyone in I'm afraid!

05 Jan 2021 08:46:39
Sky (Italia) are linking Wolves and Ajax with Christian Eriksen. Would be nice to get a player of his ilk.

Debbie McGee

1.) 05 Jan 2021 09:25:40
You've got to snap a player of his quality up if you can I agree Deb.

Imagine the delivery for crosses and free kicks. Play him in the 10 when we do 4 at the back. Podence back on the wing.

Long shot I'd say though.

3.) 05 Jan 2021 12:54:51
Costa doesn’t fit Wolves profile - Sky Sports

How doesn’t he?

Proven goal scorer in Prem
Can play loan striker role
Speaks Portuguese
Point to prove
Mendes client
Wolves have signed two players from Atl Madrid since Nuno - I know Costa’s now a free agent - we do clearly scout their players and he’s available no fee.

4.) 05 Jan 2021 16:25:59
Tim Spiers has just said it's a non starter both Eriksen and costa. Costa on about 270 a week. Would require a serious drop and only considered a last resort.

5.) 05 Jan 2021 17:09:59
Costa is on nothing (£0) a week as his contract has been terminated.

6.) 05 Jan 2021 17:14:04
It probably is a non-starter, but Spiers doesn't know any more than we do! He was always full of s**t and constantly got transfer predictions wrong at E&S.

7.) 05 Jan 2021 17:52:17
Eriksen not coming nor Costa according to the latest.
I think Nuno's post match interview 'the answer is in the squad' will see Cutrone return.
He was left out the Fiorentina squad altogether on Sunday and oddly for his 23rd birthday photos was surrounded by gold and black balloons (maybe just coincidence?! )
I can't see whoever spent last summer's money being trusted to spend much more.

8.) 05 Jan 2021 22:27:20
Put it this way Jas he's unlikely to want to lower his wage expectations by more than half is he? Not with places like the chinese league on offer.

9.) 06 Jan 2021 09:05:01
I think football in general is about to plateau. Just read that David Alaba wants to leave Bayern Munich but the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG can't afford his £250k a week wages. I know Liverpool missed out on signing Jude Bellingham because they didn't have that type of money outright. Arsenal have to sell before they can buy. If anyone is silly enough to offer us £50m for Traore, we should take the money and run.

10.) 06 Jan 2021 09:31:22
Maybe we missed that Memo given that just this summer we have agreed or are actually paying £70m for RAN, Vitor and Silva?
But seriously I think you are correct re football starting to rebalance however it will be a slow process as players on silly money will just sit it out - Ozil? and clubs will always get desperate and until Sky stop pumping the money in the rewards for success are still massive.

11.) 06 Jan 2021 09:46:35
Last New Years eve the balloons at the club I went to were the exact same colour scheme. Maybe they are leftover balloons from New Years Eve.

12.) 06 Jan 2021 13:47:02
Thefutureisoldgold. All I know is that Liverpool and Man Utd didn't have the £30m to pay Birmingham for Jude Bellingham. Both wanted to stagger the payments but Blues wanted it all upfront £20m and the add ons (£10m) as and when. This has come directly from the players agent who I know very well.

13.) 06 Jan 2021 22:09:02
Not disagreeing at all - Liverpool did the same to us over Jota. Its long overdue in reality as fees and wages were obscene in most people's eyes. Suspect the virus and the consequent loss of revenues will have accelerated this process.

14.) 07 Jan 2021 00:31:03
I think we all may need to reign in our aspirations a little, its not exactly been a normal cash generating season for any club.

Apart from the lack of fans revenue, wolves are also one of the teams that I believe have suffered from not having the fans present where as other clubs may have benefited from baying mobs.

I think this season was earmarked by Nuno as a season to develop and change and the ensuing mayhem has not helped.

Im not concerned about relegation it won't happen, but likewise hopes of big buys I also do not believe will happen and if we make 10th that will be suffice for me, I see next season as a season to push higher, and I also believe that is what the plans always were, prior to this debacle of a season for all clubs.

A couple of bits from the very unreliable gossip columns:

Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon, 31, who is currently with Chinese side Dalian Pro, is being linked with a potential move to Wolves as cover for the injured Raul Jimenez.

Wolverhampton Wanderers once again want to sign Manchester City defender Oleksandar Zinchenko. (Do we really need another LB / LWB? )

Debbie McGee

1.) 14 Dec 2020 11:31:06
A couple have reported the Oleksandar Zinchenko Debbie and also nice to see you on here again.

2.) 14 Dec 2020 13:46:39
Cheers Rated - I've been lurking more than posting of late.

3.) 14 Dec 2020 13:57:04
No to another left sided defensive player but we do need both a cf obviously and Rondon isn't the worst shout and actually a RCB if available might be an idea plus of course a new CM (possibly 2!) .

This however is going to be pricey and even if Fosun are willing to spend the money will they be allowed to FFP?

Strangely I though I read that Everton had lost £260m over the last two years £115 this year ( C.V. impacted) and £145 the year before but haven't heard a peep about them being impacted by FFP?

4.) 15 Dec 2020 12:26:06
Debbie McGee.

Once we ;leave the EU completely buying players from outside the UK is going to a lot more difficult. Getting ones from South America are highly unlikely to be able to be completed a a few weeks.

11 Sep 2020 07:59:53
According to the Mail "Porto have rejected a £22m bid from Wolves for winger Jesus Corona. The 27-year-old Mexico international has a £27m release clause in his contract".

Debbie McGee

1.) 11 Sep 2020 09:26:32
Jesus wept Debbie! If we want him that badly pay the extra £5 mil to activate the release clause. The Arsenal saga would have taught us that. That's if the story is remotely true by the way. The Mail is as bad as the Birmingham one.

I haven't heard anything of Paul Tamworth recently. I guess he's not thrilled that Nuno will probably sign a new contract. I wonder when PT last actually liked a Wolves manager. let's tick them off:

Nuno: definitely not!
Lambert:?
Zenga?
Jackett:?
Saunders:?
Solbakken:?
Clipboard Connor:?
McCarthy:?
Hoddle:? Maybe?

{Ed001's Note - Paul had his accounts deleted, he kept straying outside the T&C and acceptable behaviour with his name calling of anyone who had a different view from him.}

2.) 11 Sep 2020 11:02:07
I might be mistaken but i'm sure birmingham mail and daily mail are owned by the same company.

{Ed002's Note - You are mistaken.}

3.) 11 Sep 2020 11:48:35
Birmingham Mail is owned by the Mirror group.

4.) 11 Sep 2020 12:41:25
Not surprised to hear that about PT, Ed001. True fans know there will be ups and downs. Nuno has done a terrific job in his three years. Virtually everyone on this site wants him to sign a new contract. It's a shame Paul couldn't see this.

5.) 11 Sep 2020 13:13:53
Ed 002 according to Wikipedia the Birmingham Mail and Daily Mirror are both owned by Reach.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are. That was not the question.}

6.) 11 Sep 2020 15:24:57
Wonder what name Tamworth Paul will come back as?

7.) 11 Sep 2020 16:33:18
Paul Tamworth got into some silly business (on the banter page) he accused the PL powers that be of being "snowflakes" back in March at the start of public gathering restrictions.

He literally backed every manager until things didn't work out, then he'd turn on them with vitriol. When Dean Saunders became manager his sign off was "In Deano we trust" that didn't last long.

And as per the Titter line went, if anyone celebrated anything Wolves he classed them as "happy clappers"

As a polite contrast SQ has had his rightful moans and groans (and please SQ I say this with all the respect in the world) but had the deceny to say why he felt that way, and after doing so recently a lot in here gave kudos/ respect. At least SQ provided a rationale for his perspective.

PT is just a moaner, he'd moan no matter who he supported, he's more fickle than a Real Madrid supporter. Rant over.

8.) 11 Sep 2020 19:03:59
PT. done wrong by name calling posters on here who thought different to him as the Ed said.
Social media can be a dangerous place for people who are of ill mind.
Sometimes people forget this and the ed's have done what they are obliged to do, ban people like PT.
For months and months on here has been flooded with the same tit4tat posts name calling not just from PT
Glad I not reading it no more as its all changed on here.
Mostly down to SQ.
So SQ thankyou but you did at times puzzle and blow my mind with your negativity. lol just being honest I probably done the same to you being super positive.

9.) 11 Sep 2020 23:06:24
I didn't think PT was out of order I didn't agree with him much but he's been here a long time and was probably the most prolific contributor when I joined a few years ago.

{Ed001's Note - that's because I would delete half of his comments. Every time someone disagreed with him, he would get aggressive and nasty. He just went too far this time.}

10.) 12 Sep 2020 00:30:11
Although new to the site this last couple of weeks one of the things that makes this site so much better than some of the others - I have stopped reading "the football network" because of this - is the fact that people on this site are able to express contrary view - bulls and bears - without receiving personal abuse.
We are surely all Wolves fans and just want the team to do well.
One thing though that does surprise me is the criticism of our own players on this site.
Some us bizarrely, despite the amazing success of the last couple of years, seem to rate our players far less than fans of other teams rate either their own team's players or it would appear even ours!
Have we already become blase and forgotten the last 50+ years of hurt?
Maybe I am over loyal - certainly comment was made over my unwillingness to see change - but for me all the while your are wearing the shirt you should be supported.
Once you are gone though - its the king is dead long live the king for the new player.
I have bored you all with my love of Doherty but I hope he is awful for Spurs.
However I am shocked by the occasional disrespecting of Jimenez (? ) and truly amazed by the attitude of many to Traore () .
As I said though we are all entitled to our opinions!

11.) 12 Sep 2020 10:47:56
Let's all forget about PT and move on. :)

12.) 12 Sep 2020 13:53:33
I agree Rated, also just to say I know the thread PT was pulling at around the time he was banned and suspect that he'd already been right up to the borderline of acceptable offense! I know cause Jas and myself called him out on it, I was surprised I had not got a response but now realise that I probs did and hats off to the Ed that I never had to read that vile stuff! Like others I am all for free speech when it's about the team however as we all know that does not and absolutely should not be an excuse for personal abuse or offensive language! After all its just football, no need to get personal. If that's what's he was doing then we are better off without, onwards and upwards 👍.

13.) 13 Sep 2020 14:08:57
Negativity keeps me sane-it's the optimism that can kill yer!

Can't see AVillaFan coming on here trolling for awhile - Premier League champions elect Aston Villa were beaten by the bottom side of the league Sheffield United, who had ten men playing for them. Hahahaha. Super Jack, what are your thoughts? I told you earlier, Villa are rubbish without JG.

Arsenal and England full-back/ midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 23, is ready to go out on loan this month to bolster his chances of making England's squad for this summer's European Championships. - Worth a shout.

Debbie McGee

1.) 29 Jan 2021 12:06:59
Apparently Albion interested and he would start in that side as a regular, no guarantee in ours as we soent 35m on Semedo.

Best one to date: Leeds want Adama Traore

Happy Christmas everyone and all the best for 2021.

Wolves Ay We / _/.

Debbie McGee

1.) 23 Dec 2020 17:13:50
They can have him. hope they have deep pockets though.

2.) 24 Dec 2020 08:25:41
Traore: there is a real player in there, one that should be reeking havoc in opposition defences. Power, pace, two-footed and strong shot, albeit a bit wayward, he should have goals and assists in double figures. Someone is going to get the best out of him, hope it is Nuno or I think we might be regretting a huge opportunity missed.

3.) 24 Dec 2020 13:45:37
Traore needs to run into the box rather than down the flanks so we can at least win more penalties or free kicks.

Looking forward to a great season, onwards and upwards.

Really surprised Nuno's renewed I thought a Paul Tamworth/ Coven Wolf duo was nailed on. Tough luck lads overlooked again.

Wolves are set to sign Porto midfielder Vitor Ferreira on loan with an option to buy - from the E&S.

It's official, not one of us know anything 😂😂😂.

Yet again Debbie, Nuno, big Jeff and Fosun, pull off another blinder, without a single hint of what’s going on. And to think, less than a week ago they were being doubted on here. We keep saying it, but. what a time to be a wolves fan.

2.) 07 Sep 2020 22:55:59
Porto lol I must go there one day.

@ Yellowstone, I watched the dross Villa have played the past few games, against Leeds esp. simply awful side. They are performing better than Wolves (esp. the first half of the season) but it won't last for them.
They have nothing on the bench, so if they'd have suffered injuries the way Wolves have had they'd be lower down the table.
With that said, I never thought I'd say this, but, I'm finding it hard to watch Wolves this season. When they get to 40 points I'll realx.

Everything he has raised so far about Wolves you can apply directly to Villa, that is what so funny about his attempts of trolling.

He goes on about "selling star players" not one player in the current Villa squad is good enough for Liverpool or Spurs.

Classic projection, he is the one who is insecure about Villa, imagine concerning yourself with Wolves if you were a Villa fan? he must've been so bitter when Wolves finished much farther up the table than Villa did last season.

Funny as bad as Wolves have been, Villa are only 5 points ahead. I will cry with laughter when Grealish is sold. Without him they're rubbish a one-man team.

Any chance of Villa finishing in the top six this time round after ty our disaster out fall from grace (and subsequent near bankruptcy)?

You’re banging on as if Avila have set the league on fire this season, you fail to realise that without Grealish Villa are terrible.

“SeLlInG yOuR tOp pLAYeRs” - as it was confirmed Matt Doherty wasn’t wanted by Wolves, he’s hardly been in the Spurs starting eleven.

“Wolves looked burnt out” rich coming from a Villa fan! the state of Villa’s performance against Leeds, a game that will be forgotten by everyone that suffered through that dross.

Yet again this is a classic example of projection from you, Villa are over performing this season. You’ll become unstuck soon enough, and I cannot wait for it.
