Solskjær had said no to lead the Danish National Team because he is in discussion for a manager job somewhere. Where is still unknown.

Skrekken

1.) 12 Oct 2024 16:10:32
Not really worth speculating but 3 years out of the game, however being available would soften the blow of any payoff to GON.

Fosun have always appointed an out of work coach with varying success.

Walter Zenga (remember him!)
Paul Lambert
NES
Bruno lage
Julen Lopetegui
GON

Reality is 6 coaches since 2016, maybe I've had a distorted view due to the 4 year term of NES.

2.) 12 Oct 2024 23:31:22
No thanks but really what is the point of this speculation. Exactly what qualities could Solskjaer bring to our club? Oh I see must be somebody who’s out of work. Personally I’d get behind Gary until Fosun decide otherwise.

3.) 13 Oct 2024 09:30:41

2.) 02 Oct 2022 16:02:06
Also reported by Express and Star.

3.) 02 Oct 2022 16:03:50
They are gone.

4.) 02 Oct 2022 16:21:05
Lage has actually looked out of his depth recently. Been a dead man walking. Awful decisions, on and off the pirch. £120m spent on allegedly top class players who look average at best. Credit Fosun for getting rid so quickly. Good riddance.

5.) 02 Oct 2022 16:23:47
Just hope they don't employ another mendez dummy

02 Oct 2022 12:35:57
Pedro Martins name has turn up as a new coach. Don't seem far fetched.

Skrekken

1.) 02 Oct 2022 13:19:36
Saw this from the Mail Skrekken but I have no idea about him, but he has alleged links to Mendes, of course.
They also claimed Wolves are now actively seeking a replacement for Lage, so we can expect more of this.

2.) 02 Oct 2022 13:24:25
He’s Portuguese, so naturally he’ll be connected.

3.) 02 Oct 2022 14:11:35
I've supported Lage and always sa8d that he should be given time to mould the team as he wants it, however the simple fact is that over the last 15 games, including the solitary win, we have looked toothless going forward. We look alright in the defensive and midfield thirds but in the opposition area, we don't look as if we know where the goal is. Lage has identified the issue but he can't seem to address it and therefore, he needs to move on. The big question is when, not if he is sacked, who will take over. Ideally someone like Tuchel, Zidane, Low, however in reality it will be someone like Rob Edwards, Sam Allardyce or Mark Hughes.

4.) 02 Oct 2022 14:23:06
On a positive note our skipper had an excellent game for Everton, certainly helped them turn the corner. Whoever made the decision to give him to them should hang their heads in shame. They couldn't run a tap!

5.) 02 Oct 2022 14:30:16
It's not my call but Pedro Martins is a rising star. Have done very well the last years. Gone under the radar coaching in Greece. Fits the bill.

6.) 02 Oct 2022 14:49:57
I have one more. Looks like ten Haag could be available soon ?

7.) 02 Oct 2022 15:11:27
Love it Skrekken. Seriously though Lage has burnt all his bridges. We have cried out for a striker in our situation, we get one with a record, and we bench him. We are short in defence so play our best midfielder there, and keep defenders on the bench. Play them, and if they don't work out then by all means make a change. If we have no means of attacking the opposition all we end up doing is defending. I am bewildered by Lage's thinking.

8.) 02 Oct 2022 15:37:57
Martins plays 4-2-3-1 as his preffered formation.

We did buy a cb in the summer. He is called André and normally plays midfield but can also be used in defence. I wonder what kind of superman defender GON ment to bring in to make this team complete

Skrekken

1.) 25 Sep 2024 19:37:49
Time for Alfie pond to step up.
Plus the young striker Fletcher holman, give youth a go,

2.) 25 Sep 2024 19:44:34
Was Kilman a superman was he?! Cause that's all they needed to do, replace him. Hell why not play Sa at cb in that case, I'm sure he can play there as well?! It's amazing that even Ipswich managed it in there first season back and still we couldn't with £40m cash on the hip! Still though it's nice that you think this team is complete, think you might be the only person that does (and I include GON in that)! I guess we'll find out come the end of the season won't we.

3.) 25 Sep 2024 20:21:51
I don't think the team is complete. GON said he needed one more player. I hear all the time that things go badly because Kilman wasn't replaced. And that's not true. The way the defence is organized even a Maldini or more would not help. It's not a new CB we should be looking for if this continues. We have all the players we need to do better

4.) 25 Sep 2024 20:58:55
Kilman wasn't exactly Superman and WHU aren't setting the world alight either with all the money they've spent including Kilman. Hypothetical question. If we had bought an experienced CB and we continue to play a back 4 who would have been dropped Yerson or Dawson?
I know we need backup in this position now with this very unfortunate injury to Yerson, but Bueno needs to step up and/or we revert to a back 5. We haven't been exactly free scoring playing the current system and I'd take a scrappy 1-0 victory until this mess is sorted out.

5.) 25 Sep 2024 21:24:54
That's just it though Black, with Dawson only managing 24 games last season and Yerson never completing a season in the Prem it wasn't about dropping someone it was about cover which we now seriously lack!

For the record I've never said that is why things are going badly, what I have said is that it's very hard to judge GON when he's been (yet again) left short! I agree we are defending terribly but as we've just lost the only CB that looked like they had any promise (Yerson) then I have a feelings things are about to get a lot worse!

Here's a question for you, what does it say about Bueno that he had a seasons head start in the first team on Yerson but still wasn't getting into the starting team?!

6.) 25 Sep 2024 21:29:52
A scrappy 1-0 requires a clean sheet, Blackfords and that's the conundrum that hasn't been solved for 7 months and counting.

7.) 25 Sep 2024 22:47:45
The money offered for Kilman was too good to turn down given our financial needs - i.e. we needed the profits to offset the underlying losses the club makes so that we could meet the rules.
We should in my view however have replaced him with an experienced CB.
Maybe Andre could have been an option, (I am far from certain myself but that is just my view), to do that, but it would appear as some of you say, that club didn't believe we needed a replacement anyway.
The view appears to be that as we were moving to 4 at the back and had Yerson to comes in and replace Kilman that left us with Toti/ (with Bueno behind him) as the the back up. Toti a Portuguese international CB being viewed as more than adequate.
All clearly misguided at best or downright insane!
In answer to the q asked I wouldn't have dropped either Yerson or Dawson but played them alongside the said experienced cb as the rest of the squad is not set up to play 4 at the back but 5.
You would have thought the club would have known this esepcially as we have been down this road under each of the last 3 managers and it didn't work then eiher.
Neither Semedo or RAN are FBs but are WBs and so are struggling defensively and we are losing their offensive threat. Additionally it is clear that at the moment the CMs don't understand/can't play the new sytem either. We are, particularly in the last 15- 20 mins of the game as they tire from the excessive running the system is forcing them to do, leaving vast oceans of open space in front of the back line for the opposition to take pot shots from.
Note we have won the first half of our games 5-4 but lost the 2nd 10-0 with 7 of those being conceded in the last quarter.
Now having lost Yerson and with Toti both injured and looking lost without his experienced partners we need to reset.
Andre almost certainly has to drop back to cover two v slow CBs (Dawson and Bueno) i.e. we revert to 5 at the back and we have to hope that he Larsen /Cunha partnership can carry the offenive load with support from 1 of Hwang/Sarabia/Guedes/Gomes R/Bellegarde - 5 players for 1 place when we don't have 3 fit cbs for 3 places!
If Everton and the 3 promoted sides were not equally awful we would be in dire trouble but hopefully we can still be in touch in January when the mess of last summer can be adressed.

8.) 26 Sep 2024 10:00:05
Good analysis TFIOG but I think we all know what will happen. We'll struggle through until Xmas maybe picking up a few points here and there, assuming we play 3/5 at the back of course.

Then at Xmas they'll beg, steal or borrow and additional CH or two do a bit better in the second half of the season finishing mid lower half of the table then congratulate themselves on a great season.

Sorry for the negativity, of late, but that seems to be the reality over the last few seasons. This will be the first full season actually with a pre-season of GON/Hobbs so it will be interesting to see if they can replicate the promise shown last year.

9.) 26 Sep 2024 10:48:36
The Doc has played at CB if I recall also, however not a great option. I suspect GON will have worked something out, but as suggested above, it needs to be a back 5. It wouldn't surprise me if the back 5 are Semado, RAN, Bueno, Dawson and Lemina.

I only say Lemina because he's 6ft, good in the air, can tackle, but more importantly won't get burnt out over the 90 mins+ as he does in Midfield. We have 3 other great midfielders who can do the legwork.

10.) 26 Sep 2024 16:19:13
Mid lower half of the table looks like the promised land from where I am currently viewing, Longmynd. It may well take January window acquisitions and spending akin to two seasons ago to pull that off but do Fosun have the wherewithal and does O'Neil have the pulling power of Lopetegui?

11.) 26 Sep 2024 17:46:13
It's a funny old world ain't it, just read an article all about Lopetegui basically saying that the reason he's struggling is because he's aware of why Moyes got sacked so is trying to play more attacking footy than his usual system and he's struggling to adapt. Meanwhile we can't keep a clean sheet for love nor money because GON is (foolishly) determined to stand by a 4 at the back system that we simply don't have the players for! Sometimes change for the sake of it is not the answer! In both cases if both managers just played to their and the teams strengths I suspect both would be doing MUCH better! ?

12.) 26 Sep 2024 18:09:24
That's exactly my point Old we've sunken to such levels in recent years that we'll be grateful just to survive the drop and they Shi/Fosun) know it.

Doubt Lopetegui has a great deal of pulling power at the moment either given West Ham's expenditure versus performances.

13.) 26 Sep 2024 18:17:30
Sounds a very lame excuse to me, Bullys. Seen many of West Ham's games so far and if they're now more attacking I'd eat my hat if I had one! As for us, surely O'Neil won't be going gung ho at the weekend but who knows?

14.) 27 Sep 2024 16:45:25
In fairness Old it wasn't his excuse, it was the Sky journos take as they pointed out that he's using a different system to his usual approach. They also reflected on a interview with Moyes where he was saying that all he heard about was the West Ham way, despite the fact no one actually seems to know what that is (something virtually every previous WHU manager has echoed) ?

Looks like we are going to have more than 22 good first team players in the team. Can anyone remember last time that happen.

Skrekken

1.) 30 Aug 2024 22:58:59
Overall, with the late additions, particularly Andre, we’ve had a pretty good window. The failure to get a strong CB remains a real worry. Good sides are built on strong foundations. Our new keeper will need to play well. A point or more at Forest would be an important boost.

29 Jun 2024 14:26:15
Hopefully next year if everything goes to plan Larsen will be the third most expensive player sold from Norway. Only beaten by Håland and Ødegaard. So he has something to live up to. Good luck to you and make us proud.

As a so-called international fan since the 70s I am interested in knowing how Shi going to collect other international fans to a club that's not interested in winning anything. 14 year old don't go looking for a relegation club.

Skrekken

1.) 30 May 2024 16:57:02
Hi Shrekken.
The tickets don’t have to go to international Wolves fans.
If STH don’t renew then the tickets can go to members and fans of other clubs could potentially become a member.
More tickets could appear on ticketing websites at inflated prices.

2.) 30 May 2024 18:29:59
I totaly agree with you home fans in the protest against rais in season tickets. But what I meant was the comment from Shi that if you want to win trophies or go to Europe maybe wolves isn't the club for you. How do you think you can combine this with a wish for more international fans at the games. Because that's what he's aiming for isn't? And willing to sacrifice the home fans to get there.

3.) 30 May 2024 20:21:00
All can do is hope we do the right business in the transfer market.

As agree EfW if GON had a had a few signings in January we could of got into Europe and more likely Wembley.
Gutted all wolves fans losing t Coventry that hasn't got to he said.

But not set on stone GON will repeat his excellent results of last season.

A big statement signing is required imo to sort the mess tge club has done with our loyal supporters.

4.) 30 May 2024 21:51:01
I thought we tried to get a player in January but the selling club put the price up so we couldn’t afford it due to not wanting to break ffp rules.

Also once again Jeff said CONSISTENT European football not just European football which is a bit different. Your missing out an important word that changes the meaning of the sentence. And again he also said if you only care about watching your local team and don’t care about sporting achievements wolves isn’t right for you either.

Which to me clearly means we have aims to achieve trophies and Europe etc. yes he had a weird way of putting it but I don’t believe he thought people would think we don’t have ambition. Can we stop misquoting him.

5.) 30 May 2024 22:19:03
Spot on Goatmark . Jeff Shi’s comments have been misquoted. Think someone was stirring things up for whatever reason. I’ve read the letter and agree with you.

6.) 31 May 2024 01:08:36
Good to see that there are still Jeff Shi backers who are not afraid to air their views despite being in the minority (12000 have now signed the petition).
Here are his EXACT words regarding ffp from his open letter to fans on 08/08/2023;
‘The positive thing is that ffp is based on a rolling number, season by season, so if we do manage it well this summer, next summer we will be more free financially.’

7.) 31 May 2024 06:04:23
One things for sure E. He's given no words since to explain or be misunderstood since.
The petition is against prices rises not Shi.

8.) 31 May 2024 08:02:15
I sincerely hope you're right. But what we got so fare from this financial freedom is increased tickets prices and a message to lower our expectations. And it's correct. He said consistent but I don't think it makes any difference. Nobody has called out for consistent top 6. But why rule it out? What he's saying is as usual without any ambition for the club and hopefully Guangchang will come over and bail him out once more.

9.) 31 May 2024 08:23:32
12000 isn’t a majority of the fan base btw Efw Also I didn’t say I backed him I can just read what he said how he said it.
And on the ffp comment, yes you are right. I guess that’s why he said we are after 2 strikers, there must be money available again as the ffp has rolled on.

Skrekken I don’t think he’s ruling it out he is just saying be realistic, we can not compete with top teams financially until we increase revenue which he is trying to do by raising prices etc.
