Is Ait Nouri an upgrade to Vinagre? Seeing his loan cut short, and the tag of 20m plus for the young Nouri, would it be an addition or money we could look to spend elsewhere and bring Vinagre back.

Sydneywolf

1.) 04 Jan 2021 21:50:00
Obvious to anybody who has seen both play.

2.) 04 Jan 2021 22:02:23
Who do you think Jabba?

3.) 04 Jan 2021 22:05:32
Ait has potential and Vinagre flatters to deceive which is presumably why Olympiakos have cut short his loan.

4.) 05 Jan 2021 08:31:56
RAN is massively better than Vinagre - needs a bit of work on his defensive side, especially playing in a back four, but will be a hell of a player.

5.) 05 Jan 2021 09:28:06
Vinagre was always excellent going forward and stronger than RAN. Why bother buying a replacement with the same problems, always out of position when defending. Marcal is better than both and when Jonny is back will probably be an irrelevant discussion.

6.) 05 Jan 2021 10:00:34
Vinagre should play LW. Not unlike Bale in his early years. Rapid but a liability. Not saying he will become as good as Bale. I remember under Redknapp when Bale played at the back Spurs struggled. Pushed him forward and he exploded into life. Wish we could try Vinagre in a front three. Remember when he made Walker look a fool.

7.) 05 Jan 2021 14:09:37
I do find it bizarre how quickly peeps are writing off young talent! Ait Nouri came in with youth caps for France and half the big clubs watching him because he was highly rated! 8 apps later during our most challenging season, (especially defensively) and suddenly peeps want to chuck him on the scrap heap?! Honestly you look at some of the comments on here and you wonder what the actual problem, is it just the clubs approach or is it also fans that lack ANY patience for developing young talent?! As for Vingre well Nuno watched him for three seasons and decided he's not up to the job, incidentally so now have Olyimpiakos so I'm not convinced he's the answer if he's not even effective in the Greek league?! Patience people, the club have realised that we can't afford to buy stars so they are TRYING to make them! I grant you that can be a rough ride but let's not try to write peeps off before they've had much of a chance eh?! At the start of the season the pundits were saying Arsenal needed to get rid of Tierney, those same pundits are now singing his praises 🙄.

8.) 05 Jan 2021 18:22:12
Who is chucking him on the scrap heap? the question is merely asking is an upgrade on what we had already in Vinagre, which is a fair question.
You could say both have pros and cons, as Nuno says it's about find the solution in the squad, which Vinagre still is a Wolves player, and we are to pay another 20m for Ait Nouri and still have Vinagre on books.
Bringing back Curtrone also would not be that bad of an option if the rumours are true.
We don't really need to splash the cash if were smart enough, we have some good players coming back in from Injury, although if we lose one we may gain one in the transfer market maybe.

I'm. not questioning Nuno

In Nuno we trust.

9.) 05 Jan 2021 20:02:53
Fair enough Sydney but if we termenate his loan that's pretty final after just 8 apps, no? I'm not saying he is the answer, I was the first to call out his last performance but that was mostly cause I don't think he's suitable for a back four. The problem is though if the club cancel the contract, he goes else where and shines suddenly £20m looks like a steal and we've missed out, which peeps will also moan about. There's a reason we took a season long loan and there's no way the club will end it early unless there are problems. So is he any better than Vinagre, well let's wait and see. If not we have no obligation so it's win win really. I still think he can come good mind but I also think we need to stop with this back 4 nonsense cause for me it isn't working. Bizarrely (despite being bad at them) most of our goals right now are from set pieces so all a back four seems to do (for me) is result in cheap goals agaisnt us.
On a side note Sydney my comments are never aimed solely at you fella. The last time I wasn't necessarily saying you were scape goating (think that's the first time I'd seen yoh comment on Traore) . Like you said it's just my opinion, I'm the first to admit it might not be the right one. In Nuno we trust indeed 👍.

10.) 05 Jan 2021 20:45:25
Don't worry i'm very thick skinned and never take offence, sure that's what we come on here for, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I for one respect what you were saying, always good to have a debate.
I hear what you are saying regarding Nouri, he has shown glimpses of a very gifted footballer, and I do hope he turns out for the better for us of course.
Vinagre for me still has something to offer our club, as does Curtrone, he has that raw roughness about him which I think will be ideal right now, we need a scrapper.
Traore right now is so frustrating to watch, because he has the world at his feet if he wants, I feel he has gone backwards, maybe partly to a new system or maybe he misses Doc, they had a good understanding of each other, as did Jota and Raul, that takes time to get again.
I still think we will finish much stronger than the current run, I just want it to happen sooner rather than later, as do we all on here.

11.) 05 Jan 2021 23:10:34
Sadly the deal I thought was we sold Vinagre for slightly more than we were going to pay for RAN. If we can't sell Vinagre or at least for anything like the £20m we have to pay for RAN then not only would we have yet another left sided player with Vinagre's return, but we probably can't afford to pay the £20m. However as Bully says we have an option so let's see how he does over the next few months and then decide what to do. If we don't rate him send him back if we do adjust the squad - sell someone else, (note with Marcal as well and Otto returning we will have LWB's coming out of of our ears), or, although a bit cheeky, simply flip him and take the profit-this might be a bit optimistic!
ps Sydney v good last post.

The silence is deafening from the clubs top brass.

Sydneywolf

1.) 25 May 2021 05:25:25
The silence before the storm Sydney wolf.? The whirlwind of players out players in etc. I reckon that because of brexit euros and cv and hols the whole process could be open to speculation for ages, then slapdash and hurried into the end of close season. I'd like to think fosun have planned this and we'll hear something from them next week. They have to let nuno clear his desk as it were.

2.) 25 May 2021 11:51:03
I think more so in the way that Shi and his counterparts haven't really said too much since the news broke last Friday, I will just have to be patient I suppose, still hasn't really sunk in properly.

3.) 25 May 2021 12:29:39
The club has for the past four years decided not to make any announcements until the deals are done so don’t expect it to change now. Patience folks.

15 May 2021 13:00:17
Is it me, or is all the news regarding Mendes moving players on becoming a bit unnerving.
The way things stand if true would be there going to be a massive clear out of players, have Mendes and Fosun had a falling out?
I know there are plenty of other agents and players not under Mendes, but things don't seem too well, and that is my biggest fear, suppose it was always a gamble letting him have so much say in the transfers.
Definitely going to be a very interesting pre season.

Sydneywolf

1.) 15 May 2021 15:41:46
Let’s not forget that the players are contracted to the club and not Mendes.

2.) 15 May 2021 22:52:36
It's the same every year. Last year Neves, Neto and Podence were all on the verge of leaving us as well as Jota and Doherty. Mind you, we did bring in Semedo, Ait Nouri and Vitinha from Gestifute and were linked with: Dias, Leao, Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Guedes, Vinicius and Diego Costa who are all represented by Mendes.

07 Feb 2021 18:06:21
A good game today, both teams could of won it, I was good to see a decent performance by the team as a whole, Neves for me was brilliant, his tackle and forward play were good, Traore for all the stick I have give him on here had a good game, if not for the constant fouls he would ripped Leicester apart.
Pity Fabio didn't get on score sheet.

Good solid defensive display, Happy with point and clean sheet, but most of all. a more positive display, back to. what we are used to watching.
Only Negative was Johnny going off, hope he's ok.

Sydneywolf

1.) 07 Feb 2021 18:42:18
I didn't watch the game, for reasons out of my control.
Good reading your post Sydney and the other confident posts.
When I don't see the game I like to read the posts of the match, the result was good and clearly positive, yes I see the points of SQ and Yellowstone but that's all our weaknesses nothing said good about the wolves today.
I'm happy with clean sheet, jonny planned 45 minutes, and reading all the posts of how we could/ should of beat 3rd in the league Leicester.
That looks like a good thing to talk most about.

2.) 07 Feb 2021 19:38:56
Phil, it was a decent enough game, the best I have watched for a while from us, it definitely was a step in right direction, we kept our shape well and played football, which was good to see.
The positives definitely outweighed any of the negative, I get the points regarding the throw ins, its a very simple thing to do, weseem very hesitant, but Its not something I would hang up on in todays game, Leicester ha e been very good away from home this season and where they are in the table on merit, they are a good side, to match them and more is a positive step forward from the last couple of months, onwards and upwards.

3.) 07 Feb 2021 19:59:17
Be assured phil it was a much improved 'solid performance in which the draw was probably right. We could/ should have won it but fabio made wrong choice shooting to near post and shmichael was able to get his leg out to deflect it wide, but then vardy managed to put a cert wide too. Johnny return upped our confidence and balanced us out, but as said his planned 45mins allowed hoever to come on which weakened us somewhat and ended netos supply, he had been superb in the first half, (well struggle to keep him) . Traore was a candidate for man of match in my opinion and but for fouls could have produced more. Kilman coady samedo all ok bar the occasional slip. Dendonker was solid. Neves missed a golden opportunity volleying over from inside the 18yrd box and again played well picking up a yellow. Moutininho was another who managed to shoot over from just outside 18yrd when after his last effort you'd think he'd hit target, but another industrious game. A couple of short corners still spoilt but not so much side to side and back movement. Patricio had a few simple collections. Happy with the point against 3rd in table quality team bring on the saints. I hope all well with you phil789, sorry you missed this one. Chin up mate.

4.) 07 Feb 2021 20:00:22
👍
Cheers Sydney I have seen brief highlights on another day Silva Traore would of scored even neves.
Sounds like it was a good game,
Like you say mate onwards and upwards👍.

5.) 07 Feb 2021 20:20:28
Thanks abbey,
All is ok
Traore pleasing to hear had a good game not so good with being fouled though. I saw his best chance what a great run from Neto.
Fingers crossed I watch the match in the week.
COYW.

6.) 07 Feb 2021 21:16:26
Good posts Sydney and Abbey, Phil, today would have lifted your spirits, not perfect by any measures, but we tried, we went forward, we created chances, more like what we know we can do. With shooting boots on we could have won 2-0, 3-0. Clean sheet, point against a form team, and hope we are past a poor patch.

7.) 07 Feb 2021 21:51:39
My spirits are lifted reading your post Wimborne wolf 😀👍.

Now that the dust has settled and I have calmed down, I think it's fair to say, it was a disappointing day, especially after waiting 9 years to avenge the last meeting.
We can all see things are not right and the rumour mill is in overdrive regarding Nuno, I don't believe for one second he will throw in the towel, he is a man with dignity and respect, what he has done to bring us fans, Wolves and the city back together again after a few bad years is wonderful.

Now is the time for. us fans to pay him back with our resolve and show him, were here for him, it undoubtedly is tough time for. the manager and his staff, being away from. family in a C.V. with no chance of seeing each other, I know from experience working away from family in another part of the world is very hard and can be tough mentally, and when you need them its Important to be able to see them when your having a tough time.

As I said Nuno is avery humble man, and is definitely hurting right now, let's get behind the team and management and show them how important they are for Wolves and the team.

Sydneywolf

1.) 17 Jan 2021 06:55:31
Agree mate. He is a super manager
And a decent bloke, but health and family come first, it's clearly getting to him, I don't want him to leave, but I wouldn't blame him if he does, and I certainly wouldn't hold any grudges, towards him or his staff, I'm positive all of us are behind him and support him.
But are fosun.?
To many negative factors at club at moment.
So I urge fosun. To give him some me funds, to address situation now, to buy some experience, as we already have the youth and future in place
Coyw.

2.) 17 Jan 2021 09:17:09
All the players have lost their confidence, Nuno does not what he is doing, why he keeps playing Silva I do not know, he should be a sub, bring on last 10 minutes. Yesterday was an absolute disgrace. Nuno has lost the plot! Even Coady is struggling. What is the answer?

3.) 17 Jan 2021 10:31:47
The answer is get behind the team, more now than ever we have to, we have achieve so much in a short space of time, this is the first speed bump we have hit, were all disappointed and angry in yesterday's defeat, but now is not the time to thrown the toys out the pram, as Nuno says, the Strength is In the pack.
The season is still a long way from finished, the transfer window is open, and players are returning from injury, the season will turn, I would happily consolidate mid table and go on a cup run.

4.) 17 Jan 2021 12:25:37
Yes, I am behind the team but how long before we lose patience. The results have not been good; something needs to change, Nuno has made some horrendous team selections and we definitely need someone to score goals. The defence and midfield are not playing well. Is it just a coincidence that losing Jimenez has brought about this decline?

5.) 17 Jan 2021 13:07:17
It will get worse starting on Friday against Chorley. on a hiding to nothing with that one but I think we might get a draw at Chelsea with hopefully a new on loan striker by then. then beat Palace away.

6.) 17 Jan 2021 15:59:39
We won't lose Friday, the team will get a result and go to next round, I think there may be some time to reflect and regroup, Nuno knows he has to get the lads up for the game and get a result.
be good to see a back 3 with Ruddy, Kilman Coady Boly, Nouri, Semedo in the wing back slots, midfield of Neves, Donk, Vinita, Adama, Neto, up top, go for the throat from the off.

Considering Donk spent most of the last 2 season in defence You can't really single him out as a weak link, he is the energy we need in middle of park alongside Neves, playing a system where we use midfield more instead of just going for the counter attack all the time will suit him and Neves, I would be in the thinking we will play more through the middle with new coach, and the like of Neto Podense Adama Raul to be more involved in the game instead of trying to do it all alone.

Dedonker is a good player, he is very versatile also, he has never been really able to settle into any position, but has always done a job wherever he has been put, give the lad a break.

All is not lost, we have played well and I expect it to stay that way, Bruno has a dream!
lets move on from a disappointed transfer window, we have a good squad with International players who supposedly to leave, they are still here, so our worst fears have not come true which is a big bonus.
I have put money on Wolves finishing in the European spots for next season.

It is what it is, disappointed yes, but what else can we do, non of us knows what's been going on behind the scenes, we all rely on social media, there is no point buying for the sake of it, I just hope that Bruno Identified who he wanted and went as far as he was prepared to signing them, if that's the case I ca not argue, but if it's a case of trying to get big players on the cheap they need to wake up, asI don't see bruno being a man who will take not being backed too lightly.

Trying to, bit I get the feeling Shi needs to be relieved of any transfer activity if this window turns out to be dud, I'm usually very positive, but I get the feeling Bruno is not being properly backed, I hope I'm wrong.
I'm happy enough with what we had, but sending MGW out and no replacement makes no sense, so heres to a surprise hopefully.

As good as he can be, if we were to sell and get in another forward who can work the box and maybe someone of the Paulihna mold, I would not complain, as much as Adama can pull teams apart, the end product is not there enough to warrant us building around him, if we went 442, we may just have the balance of a great team.
Saying that I have no issue if he wants to stay, as I believe the press are stirring this up more than the player.
