Amazing how we feel more positive with better performances and wins, Rob seems better and his post match interviews less annoying.
After Friday night, they are a good side, really, and him still smiling and all happy.
We lost, as we have done most games this season.
Fair enough the better team won, but Liverpool as well as many if not all other teams will be the better team this season when playing us.
Time will tell, but if we perform poorly v Brentford and lose, the mini revival will be very much in the past.
Seems they will stick with Rob regardless of results, however, and I hope we don’t, but if we lose all remaining games I think this would be a mistake. Can we expect Rob to get us challenging for promotion from the Championship?
I am not sure, see how the remaining games go, but still not convinced, sorry.
08 Mar 2026 10:31:18
Totally agree, Banksy. Far too defensive in his style of play on Friday. Could have played Krecji in midfield instead of the ineffective Angel Gomes. I think we would have been more effective. Why not give young Danny Angel, a striker who scores goals, a few outings off the bench.
08 Mar 2026 11:54:07
As I've said previously, Banksy, I'm still on the fence with RE, with my first thought being 'not good enough'. Personally, I think he was brought in to manage our decline and be in charge in the Championship.
In my opinion, Fosun haven't changed one bit, evidenced by our January sales and acquisitions, when again zero Premier League experience was brought in.
Have Fosun actually planned to return us to the Championship, as it's hard to think otherwise if you look at the bigger picture?
As for playing Angel Gomes in midfield, B Hill, I totally agree. It obviously didn't work, so why leave any changes until we were 3-0 down?
08 Mar 2026 12:32:16
I agree, B Hill and Long. I sometimes watch us and think I don't see or understand the plan of attack. For a time, it was give the ball to Mane; he will create, and lately maybe exploit the pace of Jackson, however I am not sure, as once or twice a game doesn't really seem like a plan. I expected and hoped 2nd half v Liverpool we would have attacked more with a plan, maybe they prevented this, but surely 1st half we could have executed some plan a little better.
Angel Gomes, at least from what I have seen, hasn't really offered anything better than we already have, appreciate it is another midfielder that we needed so he fills a gap.
In some games I think we have improved, and then others we still seem poor. I maintain what I have posted before, in my opinion, the team is better than bottom of the league, questions therefore have to be asked on Rob's abilities.
I heard a commentator say that Wolves' plans for life in the Championship are well underway, are they sure, given recent history we are never prepared.
08 Mar 2026 12:40:30
Exactly my way of thinking, B Hill. It became apparent early on that we were too lightweight in midfield, and an ideal opportunity to put Krecji there. To simply accept defeat and say Liverpool were the better team is, quite frankly, disgraceful. We should have competed a lot better on Friday night, and made use of substitutions much earlier. Sorry, but a big question mark against Rob Edwards. On another unrelated subject, I watched Wrexham/Chelsea last night, and was appalled by the tackle on Garnacho that was awarded a red card.
I see today that the Wrexham manager is questioning why it was changed to a red. I was at MK Dons a few years back when our winger, Michal Gyro, was on the end of a similar tackle from a thug called Antony Kay. The difference being that Garnacho was lucky it didn't catch him fully in the knee, unlike the unfortunate Zyro. I'm just hoping this is not what we can expect on our return to the lower leagues.
08 Mar 2026 12:54:14
Armstrong has now played 94 games in the Premier League, and Gomes has played 11. He has also played 12 Champions League games, as well as other European competitions. So I don’t get the no Premier League experience comment, as both the signings have exactly that. Also, they are both English, which again fans were asking for.
As for Rob Edwards, I’m not really sure what he can do to win people over. Many on here said we wouldn’t win another game and would be the worst team in Premier League history. That was wrong. Other fans said he needs to improve performances and get more points, otherwise they didn’t want him in the Championship.
He has done both those things, yet still the jury is out. We had 2 points before he came in, from a manager who had half of last season and a pre-season to get the team playing.
When Rob Edwards came in, the team lacked fitness and confidence. He has restored both those, and now we are talking of overtaking Burnley. Do people really expect us to beat the reigning champions twice in two games? I’m not sure even Man City or Arsenal would achieve that. Also, most on here said the players we had weren’t good enough for the Premier League, yet now they want those same players to beat Liverpool twice in a row.
08 Mar 2026 14:47:06
No one expected us to beat the champions twice, Goatmark, but 4 attempts all game, that isn't good. But that's not the only game it's happened. Angel Gomes is too lightweight. Armstrong never looks like scoring, and I personally think Re is out of his depth. He won't get us back first time; the rest of the Championship aren't going to lie down for us.
08 Mar 2026 18:02:06
We're lightweight up front, as others have said or implied, so all that can be done is set up tightly and try not to concede while snatching one, exactly what Rob Edwards has done in the last two league matches. I can't see that he has much choice. Dreadful to watch, though.
08 Mar 2026 19:09:33
Mixed bags of thoughts above, many of which I agree with. But I can't agree that Fosun actually planned to return us to the Championship. Fosun are more business people than football people, and no businessman in his right mind would deliberately plan that.
Turkeys don't vote for Christmas. The Holy Grail in English football is the Premier League. You hang onto it for dear life. If Rob continues the uptick in form, then he is the man to lead us next season. If he doesn't, then all bets are off.
08 Mar 2026 20:14:22
When they signed Armstrong, people said he was too short and lightweight. Same with Angel Gomes, he is even shorter. How did he play for England? Just because he was with United, probably. Too many players not tall enough to frighten the opponents. Should have realized this with Podence. Traore used to frighten opponents just because of his build.
08 Mar 2026 22:43:23
Even though Armstrong and Gomes were owned by Premier sides Goatmark, both spent most of their careers on loan. Armstrong did ok with Southampton for a while, but still got loaned out again to the Championship, and Gomes played 5 games for United, then was loaned out abroad, not in the Prem.
The simple fact is, they are not as good as the players this club and their owners have sold off in recent years, and yes, I see Rob Edwards as a downgrade also, brought in as a compliant coach happy to manage the club in any league.
This club has been in a downward trajectory for years thanks to Fosun's transfer policies. They've watched the club slide lower and lower year on year to where we are now. That doesn't sound like savvy businessmen desperate to keep us in the Premier League to me. Only when the fans protested did they react by effectively promoting Jeff Shi, since then what else has actually changed?
08 Mar 2026 23:32:48
Tbf, Long, you said Fosun haven’t changed tact by bringing players in with zero Prem experience. Clearly 90 odd games isn’t zero, is it? Admittedly, I was clutching at straws regarding Gomes' stats. I’m not disputing the way the team has been depleted season on season, but saying nothing's changed isn’t necessarily true.
As for your comments about height, Ray, I have a feeling Man City are a short team, and it doesn’t seem to affect them much.
I just don’t really understand what some people want or expect. As far as I see, Rob Edwards has done ok for the hand he was dealt. I won’t judge till the start of next season, but so far he has improved performances and the points tally considerably.
The football might not be great, but again, in the situation we were in, we can’t expect the team to suddenly be playing free flowing, attacking football. Confidence was shot, so surely it’s better to tighten the defence and make us harder to beat. Unfortunately, that sort of football isn’t pretty.
A few weeks ago most were just praying we would get more than 11 points. Now it’s why didn’t we take the game to Liverpool after beating them once already this week. Nothing is good enough, it would seem.
09 Mar 2026 11:07:28
Still on the fence and happy to give Rob Edwards till the end of the season to prove his worth. However, what I don't, for the life of me, get is why on earth he didn't put out his strongest team on Friday? Lex has asked the same question, and I absolutely could not agree more. So Krejci put in his best performance so far against Pool the week before (for me he should have been MoM that game), so Rob Edwards benches him for this one? Sorry, but the team selection was beyond bizarre and, frankly, was also a bit of an insult to the fans. We have literally nothing to play for this season, so why do it? Why not play your best team and see what you can do? Heaven forbid we might have even built some momentum with another positive performance, whereas instead we seem to be back to square one.
Sorry, but I just don't get it. Someone, make it make sense for me, please?! And, whilst you're at it, please explain what Angel Gomes does exactly? Because right now I'm not sure I've ever seen such an entirely pedestrian player. Only player with any class was Hwang, great take and finish. Odd that some haven't mentioned him in their match report this week, isn't it, almost like he only gets a mention when he plays bad?. 🧐
09 Mar 2026 13:35:44
Sunderland and Fulham both out of the cup, fielding weakened sides in one of the greatest competitions in the world. For one, it gives the opposition a boost. Secondly, it shows no respect to the FA Cup or the fans, and third, we're already down.
Sunderland and Fulham are safe, so why not have a go at it. Krejci organises, and he's on the bench, and I strongly believe Sa would not have been beaten by the 1st and 3rd goals.
08 Mar 2026 07:39:02
{Ed's Note - Shappy has posted a new article entitled, United Need A Savvy Summer To Build Depth
07 Mar 2026 08:02:05
I was looking forward to watching the full game but all that did was re-kindle my initial thoughts about Re, tactically, that was a capitulation. They were allowed to control everything beyond our penalty area, constantly inviting shots and crosses in.
I know that our squad has been totally vandalised by Shi 1 and the owners but with just one midfielder out we totally surrendered that area and constantly formed up deep while continuously punting the ball forward back to them.
This simply invited them on wave after wave until the inevitable happened and we collapsed defensively, but then did nothing about it until we were 3-0 down.
Keeping it to 0-0 at half time by doing that is one thing, but unless you come out second half set up to go forward and build on that the outcome is inevitable and so it transpired.
08 Mar 2026 13:36:00
It was poor, to say the least. For us, as Wolves supporters, it was poor, but also as a spectacle for TV viewers. We're not going to win many admirers playing like that in a one-off cup game, unlike Wrexham, who I thought gave it a real go against Chelsea.
Yes, they lost like us, but they at least went on the offensive, where we were just too defensive, hoping for a piece of luck to get a breakaway goal. Very frustrating after recent results, but I guess we're becoming used to it now.
07 Mar 2026 08:53:10
Back down to earth with a bump unfortunately.
Mane as others have said, needs to be taken out of side or at least substituted, not play every minute.
Whether he tired or not, he has not been as good recently.
Think we have a while now before next game at Brentford, be an interesting one as they having a good season.
Will we be back then saying Rob is not good enough and these few results were a flash in pan? Jury still out for me, all depends on performances and results for the rest of season.
Someone said it is the hope that kills you, feels about right at the moment.
07 Mar 2026 09:41:35
Just my opinion, Banksy, but I'd get Thomas Frank in now. He took Brighton up from the Championship, and did pretty well in the prem, but would he work under Fosun, and would Fosun back him.
07 Mar 2026 09:53:25
Just read that RE said that Liverpool did things differently to Tuesday night. If that's so, why didn't he act to counter it?
07 Mar 2026 10:02:20
I will not be having Thomas Frank managing us. I don't want to be playing like crabs for the next season.
07 Mar 2026 11:22:07
Liverpool did do things differently last night: they simply showed what they are capable of. Against that, we had little chance. Quite honestly, if any top 6 team plays to the best of their ability, teams like us will lose. Simples. That said, Rob has definitely improved us and should be given the chance next season.
If I had to choose between beating Liverpool in the league or in the cup, I would choose the former to keep the faintest chance of survival alive, or to get the maximum number of points if we're relegated.
07 Mar 2026 12:56:00

07 Mar 2026 13:21:27
Tulu was poor last night. His finishing in all aspects havnt been good, his control questionable, but no doubters, he's a menace.
Mane has had his youthful exuberance taken, and he's joined the real world, the opposition have become aware of him, and he's now got to learn the trade in dealing with the extra attention hes recieving.
We've no one who was prepared to risk a pass or run into the opposition, until Rodrigo appears and maybe Hwang, but it was too late.
Got to blame Re, he didn't gee em up for a cup game.
Obviously Liverpool's class was the defining factor, but we didn't or couldn't interrupt them.
Sitting backing numbers is awaiting the inevitable to happen, as it did.
07 Mar 2026 21:39:04
Ok FC, each to their own. If you'd rather be where we are now, so be it.
08 Mar 2026 01:03:36
Liverpool played their strongest team. Why didn't we? No chance of avoiding relegation, so go for a cup run. Sa would have got the 1st and 3rd goals. End of.
07 Mar 2026 06:55:17
Has Edozie played since scoring v Arsenal?
07 Mar 2026 10:02:41
Not yet, Nigel.
Confusing.
09 Mar 2026 00:28:56
Has Rodrigo played since he scored? Would've been the first name on any other manager's team sheet.
06 Mar 2026 23:18:02
Mane has been poor the last 3 games. Going from 10-15 minutes here and there to playing every game. Yes, he is a promising talent, but if I’m honest I haven’t seen anything from him to prove he’s that good, and yet RE has left him on when he’s the worst player on the pitch and subbed other players.
Not the lads’ fault, but RE’s fault. Still no identity and we have absolutely nothing in attack, no pace, no wingers. Truly awful.
06 Mar 2026 23:21:31
Because the kid is exhausted, he needs to be rested.
07 Mar 2026 00:11:49
How can a kid be tired? They're kids, they have all kinds of energy.
07 Mar 2026 00:19:41
I think he's being hyped up to be something he's not. 1st time I saw Robbie K, I thought, yeah, he's a proper talent. Not seen this with Mane. He may come good, but at this moment he's ordinary at best.
07 Mar 2026 10:03:22
I think he is a brilliant talent, but needs to be nurtured accordingly for him to turn out as we all hope.
07 Mar 2026 10:41:51
The lad must surely be mentally exhausted, if not physically. He's under all sorts of pressure now, whereas before he could just get on the pitch and express himself.
It may be an idea not to start him for a couple of games, utilise him as an impact sub, to relieve the pressure of everyone saying he's our main man.
He's 18, yet to mature physically and emotionally; we need to nurture and protect him so that we get to appreciate his talent. For his age, he's right up there, but without the right support and backup, that may not develop as well as a lot are saying.
06 Mar 2026 21:46:28
Awful again. Re out of his depth. Mane all game worse than Hwang. Give the lad a rest.
06 Mar 2026 22:05:26
I've been thinking that about Mane for some time, Kenzie, but we're thin, squad-wise.
We were beaten through lack of ideas, we didn't know where to go or look.
Liverpool's second was offside in my book; how he wasn't offside when a goal was disallowed for a nose the other night, I don't know, but then Tulu let two opportunities roll under his feet.
When Hwang scored with a Johnstone assist, you have to ask why RE hadn't got that style going earlier. The subs were too late, and not changed as a block.
Liverpool ran us with class, and we didn't show anything to go at them. RE enjoyed it the other night, sadly he's got some thinking to do after that! Did he know it was a cup game?
06 Mar 2026 22:08:50
Have to agree. Talk of high and low. 🤔🤔
Why change a winning starting line up?
Ok, Andre banned.
Then he made the bulk of changes when it was 3-0.
And it was too late.
Very odd man, tactically bad.
Passionate. But is that enough?
Too many too slow.
Bellegarde, Mane, examples. Maybe, as u say, give Mane a rest.
06 Mar 2026 22:13:24
True. Mane has to play in the number 10 role, as he simply hasn't got the pace to play out wide. He and Tolu were poor tonight.
06 Mar 2026 22:59:48
What a strike force - Hwang and Armstrong! I don't think next season's Championship defences will be quaking in their boots.
06 Mar 2026 23:25:55
Anyone know, or thoughts on why Kretchi, who I thought was MOTM on Tuesday, didn't start or come on tonight, even though he was on the bench?
07 Mar 2026 00:27:21
Why leave a few out that have just beaten Liverpool. A mom & your keeper were brilliant. I strongly believe Sa would have got to the 1st and 3rd goals, & Toti went ball watching for the 2nd.
Play the same team for God's sake. What are we saving them for???? Liverpool played their strongest side. Villa and Pool were good results, but my jury is still out on Re...
07 Mar 2026 00:57:22
Sa was rested due to an ankle injury.
Andre was suspended.
07 Mar 2026 07:04:36
Yes, Rollo, the Krejci omission was the biggest error, unless he was carrying an injury.
06 Mar 2026 01:21:20
BTW. I quit watching Wolves games two weeks ago after the CP game. Everyone can thank me.since they win when I don't watch!
Had I known that was all it took I would have started avoiding their games on TV in September.
06 Mar 2026 08:04:45
Well make sure you don't watch tonight then NJ, or it might put you off watching us again.
Not because it'd be a jinx, but I fear tonight's result might be vastly different from Tuesday's.
Liverpool are wounded and will be seeking revenge. I'm not sure we can play with the intensity we showed, and unless Rob Edwards has something special up his sleeve, they'll know what to expect.
I'm just hoping Van Dyke will lose it and get sent off or something.
However, who knows? A double over the reigning champions in 3 days would be remarkable for us, and funny things can happen.
Coyw.
06 Mar 2026 11:59:59
Not sure how Liverpool will approach the game, but I suspect it will be their strongest possible side, as they need this as much, if not more, than us. We have no choice really either due to squad depth, so it may prove to be pretty much a re-run of the league match, selection-wise, minus Andre.
I think playing teams like Liverpool is perfect for Wolves right now, as we seem to be rising to the occasion again, especially at home. It will be nice to watch the full game on BBC 1 tonight rather than just the highlights, and as for the result, cut out poor defending and sloppy passing and why not?
06 Mar 2026 18:51:06
I'm thinking it could finish a draw and then on to penalties! Will it be Sa or Johnstone in goal? No Andre, so does that mean Hwang will get a chance in a more jelled team? Think he needs it.
06 Mar 2026 19:17:36
Johnstone the answer there, Bos. Tulu, Hugo, Toti, Bellgarde starting too. It will be an interesting game. If we make it to 0-0 at half time, I'll be a little more confident.
06 Mar 2026 20:52:06
Predictable 1st half. We've done well in containment, but if only we had a better vision at times when we could break.
Dunno how RE can/will change things in the second. Rigardo is the obvious option, Hwang possibly another option in the middle up front to get pace in for breaks? But Armstrong would be my choice there if changes are to be made.
06 Mar 2026 21:45:41
Liverpool 3-0, so Re throws in the towel and brings Hwang on. Not got a lot up front, but now playing with nothing up top. Even Mane looks ordinary tonight, but got nothing apart from J. Gomes with him. Best centre half we have is on the bench, certainly missed Andre.
05 Mar 2026 12:05:49
Both West Ham and Forest not behaving last night, realise it incredibly unlikely but would love us to keep winning and close the gap.
Can we at least catch Burnley? 🤞👍
05 Mar 2026 11:33:39
The play offs in The Championship will be extended from four clubs to six clubs from next season.
05 Mar 2026 15:59:23
It's a bit ridiculous and purely about money. If we want to see who deserves promotion, we could have a season-long 24-team play-off competition of 46 games, perhaps in a league format, and the teams who get the most points go up.
05 Mar 2026 16:09:57
Six clubs in play-offs in the Champ gives us (and everyone else) a better chance of promotion. So, we will all be talking about the top eight for a change.
05 Mar 2026 16:47:29
Don't be ridiculous, Acle, who would ever do such a stupid idea? Competition? League? What are they?
05 Mar 2026 19:05:07
Coming 8th, winning 4 and getting promoted over the 3rd best team over a season of 46 performances is a merited promotion, not.
06 Mar 2026 01:10:47
I agree, Abbey.
I don't like it, even if it does help Wolves next year. I was ok with one playoff between 3rd & 4th, but they keep expanding and it's too American style.
The problem with American pro leagues is that too many teams get into playoffs, and it devalues the regular season.
This will be very similar. It is a cash grab by the league. Probably because of too many American owners now.
This will also help the Top 6 in PL to get even weaker opponents if one of the 5th-8th best in the Championship wins promotion due to a short playoff run.
06 Mar 2026 03:04:21
How long before the playoff winner has to face the 3rd from bottom in the Premier League for promotion?
06 Mar 2026 07:56:55
I've a feeling that was tried, or certainly suggested, many years ago now, Rated, so it wouldn't be new, just that it'd be based on money, not sporting values.
Mind you, if Spurs should end up in 3rd bottom it might come quicker than we think. lol.
06 Mar 2026 17:45:04
Maybe it's to possibly make it easier for blue Mancs to get back after their possible demotion & 10 point deduction. Cus it won't be much more of a punishment for them. It's the badge, ya know.
06 Mar 2026 18:52:35
