Just seen Connor Ronan’s goal in the Scottish cup, definitely worth a watch. I have a feeling we might see him next season playing a few games for us.

I really hope we do as he certainly has served his apprenticeship over the years with all of his loan moves.

2.) 13 Mar 2022 08:41:04
Stratto - The fact that he's spent so much time out on line may tell a different story.
Wolves have a few players like this who appear to be good enough but will they ever make it to the first team squad?

3.) 13 Mar 2022 09:00:48
Yes, but the fact that we keep extending his contract out rather than letting him go as we have with so many others, suggests that there may be a future there somewhere.

4.) 13 Mar 2022 09:06:31
Apologies for the typo Statto and as you say Goat it was an amazing goal and well worth watching.

So I’m about to drive from London to Wolverhampton, trains look like they will be useless. Anyone got any thoughts as to if the match will go ahead etc and if it’s crazy to drive in today’s weather?

1.) 20 Feb 2022 11:20:44

So with Sevlow’s post from the other day in mind. My first game I now remember (with the help of a recent thread) was the Sherpa van final at the old Wembley. I would have been 5 but remember not being able to see anything when we scored. Living down south east meant we didn’t go to many games just local ones like palace and a few to Portsmouth. I think my first home game was against Grimsby, my dad had a contact who got us in the directors box and we got to meet the players after. I remember we had to ask (again memory foggy) Mark Venus to move his car so we could get ours out. The game ended 0-0.
I’m now living in London and with limited income don’t get to go to many games, not to mention away tickets are impossible to get now. I try to go to 5-10 games a season and sit wherever I can get a spot. Looking forward to the Leicester game as it will be my first since covid. I was due to go to the away game at West Ham when covid kicked off.
I’ve supported wolves all my life, followed on from my dad and brother, dad moved here from Canada as a kid in the 60’s? and picked the mighty wolves. Unfortunately he’s had health issues the last few years so doesn’t get out the house much let alone to games, during the European tour I tried to get him inspired to go to some games, gutted for him he couldn’t but hopefully if we get there again it might motivate him.

Good to see wolves women still top of the league and the under 23’s beating a newcastle team with Jonjo Shelvey in it. That birtwistle getting some goals.

So the summer transfer window was a failure or even amateurish according to most posts I’ve read on here, we signed chan who is in the top 10 goal scorers so far this season (I know it’s early), any other new signings without premier experience in the top 20? Trincao looks good to me and will be ready as an Adama replacement come January, I believe Sa is an improvement on patricio and from what I’ve seen I think Mosquera would have played a big part if not for his injuries. Don’t get me wrong I realise things aren’t prefect but I’m still confident fosun and Jeff are doing a good job, some of the players they have found have been amazing for us. To continually criticise their methods is baffling to me, look at Leicester’s start, yet they spent a lot more than us even signing an established cb which I’m sure we all would have liked. Or Burnley who were bought out last year so you’d expect them to invest but how’s that going for them? Also it’s contentious I know but mgw going on loan was a good choice IMO, he’s doing well and wouldn’t get much game time with us so win win.

Don't disagree Goat, I think from a fans perspective the Management team may look a bit weaker than previously under Fosun, but there's a lot going on with the club that we are not privy to until announced.
When players are 'linked' to a club in a transfer window some seem to think that the club is actively chasing that player and when it doesn't happen have a bit of a strop. In fact many of those 'links' are just media generated 'clickbait'.
There are many reasons beyond the clubs control why even a genuine prospective transfer falls over but at least they are trying.
Having said that I would like to hear more about ground improvements.

2.) 10 Oct 2021 16:16:21
Agreed Longmyndwolf the lack of ground development is disappointing, but I wouldn’t want to pay current prices for building materials. So I can see why fosun might have put it on hold.

3.) 11 Oct 2021 09:40:41
That's a fact Goat, got my extension done last year, luckily. There is one transfer related issue that does need addressing and that's Traore. Personally, I'm finding the will he sign, won't he sign saga is dragging on too much now.
Every club he's played for has sold him saying the same thing, fun to watch, but no end product. It seems that Spain have probably reached the same conclusion.

4.) 11 Oct 2021 10:41:16
Team building comes well before stadium building. Steve Morgan got that wrong, to his cost. Mind you, he still got a great return on his ten quid investment.

5.) 11 Oct 2021 13:42:36
Premier League Clubs need both a team and a stadium, other manage to build new grounds and or new stands or add extra tiers to existing stands, Wolves drew up plans in the 1950’s to build a 50,000 all seater stadium, along with all the other subsequent artists impressions of new designs, images are available online, over sixty years later and a succession of owners who’ve promised to deliver and fallen short, we have a mid- table team, four detached stands built by three different owners and a stadium at least twenty thousand short is necessity, if Fosun have any ambition it’s time to show it.

6.) 11 Oct 2021 15:18:44
I think that's what disappoints me Ron. I get the C.V. effect, interest rates, building material costs, etc, but as you say others are getting on with it. How will we ever grow to be a big successful club with a 30K stadium.
There's no right time to do this as all the ducks will never fully line up. I get the impression they are trying to make it too dependent on an integrated approach between the Club, the University and the Council but will that ever happen? There definitely is a need for a 45-50K stadium, a decent hotel and improved parking, all of which would bring increased revenues/ status to the club. Plus if it was done right the stadium could attract other uses on non match days, concerts, etc.

7.) 11 Oct 2021 19:29:26
Oxley, I get where you are coming from regarding the stadium and yes I agree that it needs developing but 20 years ago our average attendance was 22000 so the redevelopment was fine for its time. I've been going since 1989 and up until we won promotion I could always get a ticket. Since promotion I can't. I can't justify a season ticket as I only get 7 weekends off a year.

Worth more than £30 mil in my opinion, galvanises the squad and keeps relative order at the back.

What about Mosquera? He’s a cb that we’ve signed. I’m sure if fosun could have got someone in sooner they would have. And we have signed 6 players so far this summer along with a few more u23’s.

Glad to see your post Jas and as always shedding some light on stats/ comments that otherwise appear negative. I’m looking forward to seeing our new arrival play.

My personal opinion is that Coady won’t go and the same for Neves, doesn’t feel like players with recent articles/ comments on the Wolves rumours page saying things like how excited they are to be playing with fans at molineux again would then leave the club a few weeks later. I could be wrong of course but it doesn’t make sense from a club point of view telling fans one thing then doing another.

I see we have 2 players in the list of top 100 for the golden boy award. I know some people won’t think it means anything when they see it’s silva and hoover but personally I think it’s good even the publicity is helpful. Looking forward to the new season, even with the lack of signings so far.

Personally I admire the fosun approach, we live in a time of credit and debt. I don’t have a credit card and don’t spend beyond my means, the majority of people I know do spend money they haven’t got and there’s millions of people in debt. I don’t get why the spend spend spend approach is what people want, I wonder are these the same people who have thousand in debt and one day it will catch up with them. I really hope teams like villa get found out and get punished for over spending, but tbh in today’s world I can’t see that happening. Let’s just reward carelessness and a lack of foresight and let people play the system allegedly like Man City.

Don’t get me wrong I want Liverpool to win the league but the media assuming we will roll over was getting annoying.
