I, like many, had hoped that we would get a result last night if only to generate a bit of excitement for the end of season run in. Unfortunately we put in a very pitiful performance against a very poor side. First half was sterile and with little to get excited about. The second half was our whole season condensed into 45 minutes of mistakes.

In the Prem, if you make mistakes, you will get punished. Unfortunately we have continued to make these basic errors and it will cost us. With the exception of our two Brazilians in midfield, we have a side that is lacking. Question is do we need a new manager or do we need new players?

Both, Nando. Re needs to go now.
Most of the players are either being sold or not even good enough for the Championship.
So make of that what u want.
I'm not a fan of:
Bellegarde
Tatchoua
Armstrong
Johnstone
Angel
Hwang.

Last night was a lost opportunity. Had we won, we would have reduced the gap to Tottenham to ten, West Ham to nine, and been level with Burnley. Despite being the better side in the first half, we never looked like scoring, whereas they missed two gilt-edged chances. The reason is that none of our midfielders is capable of playing a killer ball. I lost count of the number of times our players turned back on themselves and either passed back to a central defender or lost the ball and set up a counter attack.

We have probably set up more goals for our opponents than they have set up themselves this season. Andre and Joao Gomes are both culpable in this regard. I am struggling to remember any assists they have had this season, but I can think of numerous assists they have had for the opposition. A forward thinking central midfield pairing is our top priority for the Summer window.

As everyone knows, Rob Edwards was brought in ready for life in the Championship.

If that is the case, I expect any ongoing negotiations in regards to incoming and outgoing players to be concluded very quickly at the end of this season or early during the transfer window so that Edwards gets a full pre season to instill his ideas.

However I think we'll do the usual, sell all of our better players and panic buy during the last week.

I am afraid the club has got itself into terrible position and there are a number of inescapable facts that are heading our way
1. All our better players will leave at the end of the season
2. We have statistically the worst manager in Premier League history and his position will need to be reviewed
3. The fan base are demoralised and angry and attendances will be significantly lower next year there certainly is no good will left
4. Sponsors will review there position with regard to the club
5. TV revenues will be significantly reduced
6. As a result of the above our revenue as a company will be reduced even with parachute payments. Some of the drop in revenue will be offset by a smaller wage bill but I predict we will be generating massive losses as a company for the foreseeable future.

Based on this I cannot understand why Fosun are still keen on continuing the ownership of the club. Due to lack of investment they sit on an asset which is now worth possibly 50% lower than when we were performing ok in the Premier League.
The whole thing does not make logical sense and I am amazed that the club that seemed to be well run and was successful on the pitch pre-lockdown has got itself into this mess.
Our immediate future depends on the clubs desire to rebuild the playing squad into one that can compete in the championship. Unfortunately I have lost confidence that this will happen and can see us in the same boat as Leicester. Sad and worrying times!

The last 6 games had given us fans some hope for the future, but last night was a truly disgraceful performance.

I know we are down, but to put in a performance with no fight or passion was a slap in the face to all of us.

Major Frank

Good post, although it could be considered to be actually very conservative!
Sadly, there is no way the club is worth anywhere in the same postal district as 50% of what it was worth at Seville, and the drop in revenue will far exceed the parachute payments and the drop in the players' wage bill.

As you say, v worrying times!

11 Apr 2026 10:37:22
Logical sense? There is none. Well Major, it's down to the hopelessly diversified nature of the Fosun group worldwide, and the inability of the main founder Guo Guangchang to recognise this. If you look at Fosun's Wikipedia page, it's crazy. I know of an international company in which Mr Guangchang invested in, in my industry, because he shopped at one of of their outlets in Hong Kong and liked the product.

Unfortunately that company collapsed due to fraudulent accounts and forged bank statements, and were audited by only a small firm of accountants (which was a massive red flag). Where was the oversight by Fosun?

To go forwards, we need to go backwards to some degree. It needs a thorough clean out similar to when we prepared for League 1 and appointed Jackett. We need something to that degree.

Yep, finances, lack of players and a poor manager aside, Fosun's lack of interest and a shabby state of the Mol mean next season can only be full of worry, because in our 150th year we'll be looking at another relegation fight as it stands, and all we'll be able to do is hope, and maybe pray.
Seriously though, I'll retain some optimism, because if we can defy expectations and get to the top early in the season the Mol will be packed, and the ambition will drive whatever players we've ended up with, and we could be rejuvenated as a club.

Sad bit is, I don't think that'll happen with Rob Edwards in the dugout.
So, will Fosun and Mr. Shi II be prepared to gamble on another gaffer, can they afford to pay off another coach?
Do they even care? You're right, Major, why are they still here?

Some very pertinent comments. It's clear a reset is needed, and I'm unsure Fosun are capable of delivering it. The problem with selling the club is that it's almost a lucky dip in terms of who you finish up with. Unless it's Man City or Newcastle-type owners, who can throw almost unlimited cash at recruiting a proven manager with a budget to attract top players, then the best to hope for is a bargain hunter, probably US-based, like Blues/Wrexham, looking to long-term build.

We're heading for the latter when Fosun eventually go, and hope they know what they're doing!

Thanks for the replies, and as you say, interesting page on Fosun on Wikipedia, Deep. All this makes the future difficult to predict, as it's not clear where Fosun are going with the club. It's so frustrating, as I can still remember the game I think it was against Fulham when Nuno got his honorary doctorate, and I thought how great it was that the players, manager, owners, and fans were all as one and heading in the right direction.

Unfortunately, this was a brief moment in time before things fell apart. As QS put it, I sense we will have to go backwards for a bit to go forwards again, however painful it's going to be. UTW.

Sack Re and go and recruit Thomas Frank now!
Or risk Division 1 oblivion!

11 Apr 2026 11:16:37
More likely to have Frank Thomas as next head coach.

I think Frank Spencer would be a massive improvement !!

What was that last night, absolutely awful. How can they all be so bad at the same time. Spotlight on Re again for me. I actually thought we had a chance going into the game.

I was having dinner the other night with a fellow Wolves fan. He was born in Wolverhampton but now resides in New Zealand. I made a prediction that Wolves would not win another game this season.

I would buy him a good bottle of wine if I lost the bet. After this latest debacle, I think my bet is safe. It was obvious West Ham wanted it more than Wolves.

Started the season with no Premiership ready players, we now have no Championship ready players, someone needs to get a grip and it won't be Fosun or anyone they employ.

11 Apr 2026 02:54:35
Let's see how much loyalty the likes of Sa, Joao and Andre have at the end of the season. Will they stay and right the wrongs of this season, or will they move on for a nice big paycheck and never think of Wolves again.

Tbh Goodwhileitlasted, mate, I'll be glad to see the back of them including J. Gomes. Tired of the lot of them.

10 Apr 2026 21:55:22
Garbage. RE is totally out his depth and not the man to move us on. Poor line up, poor subs. We are like a pub team. This is also a aweful West Ham team. Sick of it now.

I was just looking at the stats for Edwards, to see if we are being fair, and they are frankly damning. Currently averaging 0.71 ppm (and that might be generous as I am not sure when it updates). For a bit of context, that means had he been here all season we would be on 22 points and still pretty much down.

More than this, we all agree that Vitor Perriera was rubbish, right? Well, he had an average 1.24 ppm, so double what Edwards had achieved. Like all Wolves fans, I desperately wanted RE to be the right choice, but surely by now we must all agree that he's just not up to the task?

10 Apr 2026 22:29:44
Saw tonight's game, I am sick of Edwards gurning at the camera and motioning with his hands back or forward. We can all talk a good game, but the bloke would have trouble sending a corpse to sleep. Boring, clueless, uninspiring. Need I go on? We are not treading water. We will go down, and stay down under Edwards. Mark my words, Fosun.

5

10 Apr 2026 22:30:38
He's definitely out of his depth. Never thought I'd see us in this position after what we were just a few years ago. I know that's not Edwards' fault, but this team performance is his fault. Not good enough.

10 Apr 2026 22:40:16
This is now a predicament.

The facts are VP was awful, but Rob Edwards' stats are worse.

Edwards has clearly been told to prepare for the Championship, but surely at the time of his appointment, there were enough games and points available to try and stay up.

The squad will be very different to what we have currently, but the style of play is too turgid.

How long do the club give Edwards? Well, the plan was for him to prepare for life in the Championship and to mount a promotion challenge.

If he isn't near the top of the table after 10 games next season, I'd like to think the hierarchy let him go. But who comes in to replace him? My choice (as we're in the 2nd tier) would be John Mousinho. He likes to play attacking football, and he'd have a bigger budget and better players than he currently does at Portsmouth.

I get your point, Good, and you may well be right regarding the ten games, but to be honest, I kind of hope not! Because ten games (even in the Champ) is a lot, add to this we will also then have a team/transfer window completely overseen by Edwards to suit his style of play.

I say style of play, but for the life of me, I have no idea what that actually is for Edwards, to be honest. Look at how tight it is in the Champ this season. I'm just not convinced it's a standard of league where any team gets to just write off 10 matches as an experiment.

10 Apr 2026 23:11:59
Personally, I wasn't impressed when Rob Edwards was appointed, and I said as much. I felt he was another Jeff Shi special, so none of this surprises me in the slightest.
Yes, we have some poor performers, but the manager/coach plays a significant part in shaping the team and its game management.

As some have said, his stats are truly appalling, but commensurate with his managerial status, imo.
What is concerning is how long Fosun/N Shi will allow this to continue, as it sounds like he's under no pressure, and our owners don't seem to care what division we're in.

Terrible, just absolutely terrible. 😕

Another Angel Gomes master class. What is going on? We've surely got better kids in the Under 21s than him. Re got it all wrong again.

3

10 Apr 2026 22:06:19
Back to the awful garbage they were before Christmas. Championship teams must be rubbing their hands at taking points off this lot. Awful defence, midfield create nothing, and not a striker in sight. Need a manager who can instill some fight into them. I fear Rob is not that person. Nice bloke, but tactically naive.

10 Apr 2026 21:56:14
Well at least Jeff Shi gave himself a massive pay rise last year so he could oversee this shower of sh*t.

10 Apr 2026 22:26:30
Angel Gomez was lost out there. Ok, he hit the post and had another free kick go close, but what else?
Our best effort was Hugo's strike toward the end, the left back. Ok, Armstrong hooked an effort and placed a weak effort, but what front line did we have? Where were people looking to run? Hwang looked livelier in the few minutes he was on.
Edioke looked livelier, Rodrigo livelier.

We were just slow and clueless.
Jet lag may have affected some with the internationals, but that shouldn't really be an excuse.
We gave em 3 and allowed a 4th. Flatters Wh and Nuno, and shows how poor we are.
Is Re the man to lead us next year? Well, it'll be a different team, younger blood I'd imagine. Can he buck up players? Can he choose a team to fight and want it? I'm beginning to doubt it.
