Many people are posting possible signings. The first one should be a strong club captain. We have lacked leadership on and off the pitch since Conor Coady left us. If you ask me, this is when the real rot started to become noticeable. I would actually love to see Coady back, maybe as a coaching role with a succession plan to develop him further.

Kieran Trippier will be available on a free.

If Southampton don't go up, then Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

20 Apr 2026 22:14:19
Jamal Lascalles too. 3 players who will make our defence better and provide natural leadership.

I'd take Wilfred Zaha on a free.

Why Rob Edwards Is Not Working at Wolves

I see you're in the John Mousinho camp, like me. I think he could do a very good job for us.

Very good and valid assessment. Noisy, I agree all the way, apart from the Hugo/Wolfe position. Yes, Wolfe is more defensive looking, but I think Hugo offers more all round.
I confess I've watched him through the youth teams, so maybe biased myself, but he always gives what he can, and I'm not sure Wolfe has the same commitment in games.

The Portsmouth gaffer (can't spell) certainly seems to know what he wants, and has indeed got a relegation threatened team to safety. How that would move towards a promotion seeking season I wouldn't know, but certainly a safer bet than RE I'd imagine.

Lima, Rodrigo not getting game time now is a bit odd, I think too. When they first arrived in our friendlies in the US they looked the biz. Lopez was hot and cold in his appearances, but never had a run to get really acclimatised. I hope they don't turn the same way as Trincao and Vitna have and slip away from us.

Edwards had a good record with the youngsters, and I've questioned his man management. Maybe he can relate better with them than the older, experienced players?

I'm really not holding my breath regards success next season under RE. Them tactics are confusing and baffling to watch, let alone play, and you have to be a tough unit every game in the Championship, and we just don't have it. We need a leader on the pitch, someone who leads by example, and that's something we've not had all season.

Depressing times. Maybe the freedom of actual relegation might lift us for the final games and give us an entertaining finish? Beat Spurs and finishing above Burnley would be something, but what a dour time us fans have had.

Old Gold Wolves no matter what though COYW.

Its awful ain't it?
We had a glimmer of hope after beating Liverpool and Villa and drawing with Arsenal. We got 15 points and avoided the worst ever record.
Rob and Pedro are ok and need to be given a chance.
We should lean on Gestifute. Anyone know why that ended?
Its awful but things can only get better.

To be fair, MikeCee, things can get a lot worse. Even though Shi2 was talking a good game, things on the pitch tell a different story. If Fosun weren't ok with Wolves falling back into the Championship, would they have a) appointed RE and b) done nothing to improve the playing squad at Xmas? In fact, they made it weaker.
Let's not forget, Shi 1 technically got a promotion, so was he simply doing their bidding?
As for Gestifute, they're still around, but if Fosun won't back the club, there's not much they can do.

Personally, I have zero confidence in any significant upturn, as I don't see how and where it will come from unless Fosun change their approach, and I don't believe that will happen.

Apparently Tolu and Mane had a bust up in the dressing room last week so one of them will be leaving I reckon.

0

20 Apr 2026 10:11:30
It's already been speculated that it'll be Tolu leaving, which suggests he was the aggressor? Like so many of these players, though, we have little to no chance of recouping the £21m we wasted on him!
Also, questions need to be asked of Rob Edwards, and if he's respected in the team.

Fighting between players was the beginning of the end for Gon because it basically represented that the club was in complete crisis mode, with a very real lacking in respect or authority. Sorry to say it, but I can't help but feel that's the case again here. What a bloody shambles. 😭

3

20 Apr 2026 10:18:44
Pity he didn't show that level of aggression on the pitch!

3

20 Apr 2026 10:31:23
Reminds me of the time there was a bit of argy bargy in the dressing room after a defeat during Mad Mick's reign. Apparently Carl Ikeme punched a hole in the tactics board. My only surprise was that we even had a tactics board!

Mind you, I think Mick's team could probably beat the current lot.

Mick got sacked only because we slipped into the relegation zone with about 13 games still to play, and therefore plenty of time. That luxury was never earned by us this current season.

I hate to say it, but I suspect the atmosphere at the club is toxic from top to bottom and has been for a very long time. Possibly even during Nuno's later months. The close-knit togetherness of those first two or three Nuno seasons has been slowly lost, with management changes and a seemingly less researched approach to transfers.

2

20 Apr 2026 13:52:58
We definitely have dropped our standards with transfer research. Nuno had a very small but well-researched squad, from the 2017/18 season in the Championship onwards. Injuries were light because of this, and even the personal character of prospective signings was delved into to weed out problem players. When you look at most Wolves squads in past Fosun years, there were always match-winners amongst them compared to now.

Look at the Cunha hat-trick at Stamford Bridge in February 2024. Chelsea couldn't cope with him and Neto. Cunha struck again on Saturday. No doubt about it, we're sold the Crown Jewels every season, and finally stopped replacing them. Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth have managed to sell and prosper, but not us.

2

20 Apr 2026 13:59:03
I think that was under Dean Saunders, deep throat.

Chelsea's Bigger Problem Behind the Scenes

Who do you think we should sign this summer?
I know half the squad is leaving, but who’s coming for Championship?
I hope Sterling on a free.
Keep Mane at all costs.
Give Edozie more minutes.

0

20 Apr 2026 08:46:07
Sterling would only come for the money & we can't afford to pay him what he wants. Not convinced about Mane either. He needs to sharpen up a bit. Gonna be a long summer.

20 Apr 2026 09:45:16
Anyone who wants to play for the club, with the ability to help get results in the Championship. The aim should be to win the league and not make up the numbers, but, realistically, the rot needs to stop first, and the best way to do that is rip out any problem players or players who don't want to be at the club.

Of course, what happens next will depend on a competent recruitment team.

3

20 Apr 2026 12:01:28
The best Fosun will commit to is an 8th place finish, so we partake in the play offs. They'll soon spin it and say that, after a season of unparalleled turnover of playing staff, 8th place is an excellent showing. We are a joke club now.

1

19 Apr 2026 21:50:41
I picked Forest to be relegated this season but I'm not sure now. VP has done a good job getting them away from the relegation zone. He obviously has a better squad at his disposal and a passionate manager. First the points, then the pint. Of our two remaining away league games, can we win against either Brighton or Burnley and secure our first away win?

0

19 Apr 2026 22:04:06
We won't win an away fixture. We will become the first club to complete 2 seasons in the Premier League and fail to win an away game, having previously achieved the feat in 2003/04.

5

20 Apr 2026 03:01:27
Once relegation is officially confirmed, those bunch of Judas's will play like prime Barcelona to get their Summer move.

4

19 Apr 2026 18:52:36
Going through the current squad, I think the following will all leave:

Sa, Johnstone, Doc, Hugo, Santi, Wolfe, Krejci, Jackson, Andre, Joao, Bellegarde and Angel.

Add to this Munetsi and Lopez who won't return after their loans.

This means we will need to replace 14 players.

Ideally, Hwang and Toti should also be moved on as they simply ain't good enough.

So therefore 16 players.

We will be left with: Bentley, Mosquera, Lima, Rodrigo, Mane, Armstrong, Tolu, Enso, Djiga, Hoever, Doyle, Traore, Chirewa and Sasa.

The question is who do we bring in?

I said earlier Bazunu, Trippier and Kilman but even then the squad is threadbare.

1

19 Apr 2026 21:36:31
Just read about Wolves team-mates calling out in the dressing room. Pity they don't show the same aggression on the pitch. On the pitch, haven't got an ounce of fight in them. Pathetic run club.

1

20 Apr 2026 00:25:01
Why would they want to stay and play in front of you lot? Three quarters of you want them to do poorly, so you have something to complain about.

3

20 Apr 2026 06:01:13
We're rooted to the bottom of the table, and things don't look like they're going to change any time soon. What do you want us to do? Dance in the streets rejoicing at how wonderful things are? Or call out those responsible?

2

20 Apr 2026 07:27:34
Dunno what happened or why, Ray, but from Mane's point of view, Tolu wouldn't be the one I'd pick on. It got 'quite physical' from reports. Equally, if it was over the footballing side of things, we'd just lost 4-0 in embarrassing style, and I'd be bl**dy annoyed. Mane didn't have his best game, and maybe he couldn't take criticism, or there was a lack of concern somewhere. If that's the case, then it's no wonder things happen.

Then again, perhaps someone used the others' deodorant without asking?
No matter, in my experience, not everyone gets on with everyone all the time, and bust ups can occur.
I was wondering why Tolu didn't feature v Leeds though, not suggesting anything there, but we started with Littlens up front and I'd have thought it was crying out for a big lad up front.

2

20 Apr 2026 07:35:57
The sooner the better we are confirmed relegated.
Then we can get rid of the clown that's managing our team.

3

19 Apr 2026 15:52:18
MGW so annoying with his silly holding his ear celebration.. Wish someone wud cut them off!!

3

19 Apr 2026 16:09:06
Amazing how he ups his game just in time for a major tournament and a move to a bigger club. Most top players now have toe curling celebrations. Their egos know no bounds.

1

19 Apr 2026 16:49:15
Forest a big club?

1

19 Apr 2026 17:08:15
No. Spuds last season, and Man City (and others) this season. Same thing last season: he played like a man possessed when the bigger clubs were sniffing about.

2

19 Apr 2026 17:40:49
Got you.

3

19 Apr 2026 15:04:44
Krejci seemingly on his way out. Won't be missed. Decent player, but doesn't have a great attitude. Paid way too much for him.

0

19 Apr 2026 15:43:00
Angel Homes should never play for Wolves again, neither should Jackson. That's a start. RE should never be the manager of our team, period. Looks like it's going to be a few years of rebuilding again, after this shower of players and hierarchy.

3

19 Apr 2026 16:20:47
From being touted as the club's captain last week to signing for Leeds this week.

0

19 Apr 2026 16:24:54
I'll be stunned if they're at Wolves next season. I think Edwards has hinted at two windows to get the team in the right place, because there is so much work to do at the club and so much dross to get rid of.

Realistically, if you were the head coach, who would you want to keep? Most of the players are bloody awful.

Personally, I can't wrap my head around supporters slating Adam Armstrong. He's a boss little player and a true professional. That's one signing Wolves got right.

3

19 Apr 2026 16:44:32
So he's had one window then.

As I've said, Fosun will sell whoever they can for as much as they can, and will expect Rob to put up and shut up.

Krejci, Andre, and Joao will bring in a minimum of £70m.

I wonder how much they'll allocate towards the transfer budget. My guess is £0.

We need to get rid of Toti and Hwang, but we won't, as they won't fetch much in the open market.

2

19 Apr 2026 16:51:22
Two windows from the summer, which makes sense. There's so much garbage to dispose of.

1

19 Apr 2026 17:06:11
So, what you're saying is that next season has been written off too, as the club need until the close of the transfer window in Jan 2027 to complete the squad overhaul?

Has Rob not taken any notes since November 2025?

1

19 Apr 2026 17:25:21
As Alex Ferguson once said, the season doesn't start until January. I've probably paraphrased a bit, but that's what he said, and he's right. There is no way Wolves can get a team ready for the start of next season. There are too many crap players, the team is too bloated in too many areas, and there is a World Cup getting in the way of the close season. Wolves should hopefully build the foundations of a decent team for the start of the season.

That's the hope. If, in January, Wolves are in a good position, they can sign decent players who will see the Premier League as a selling point. Of course, looking at how Wolves have been operating over the last few years, they will start the season in an absolute mess, Rob Edwards will be sacked, and we'll do a Leicester and go down to League One.

3

19 Apr 2026 17:33:19
NoisyMangle, do you wear rose tinted glasses? Apart from run around, what else does he bring to the game?

0

19 Apr 2026 17:47:46
Adam Armstrong is not a Premier League player. He's a very decent Championship player. That having been said, he's currently playing in one of the worst PL teams I've ever seen, in a formation that will never suit him, and he always gives 100%. He's neat on the ball, he has an excellent footballing brain, his work rate is second to none, and he can finish.

I'd put my left nut on him getting at least 15 goals and 10 assists next season. It's a shame he's one of those players who can't quite bridge the gap between the Championship and Premier League.

2

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - he is dog muck and as soon as Saints got rid of him they started winning. Awful player, who is just like my old dog, running around mindlessly chasing the ball.}

1

19 Apr 2026 18:08:25
As I said NoisyMangle rose tinted glasses i know a few Baggies fans who said he was absolutely rubbish for them and couldn't score in a brothel

0

19 Apr 2026 18:31:23
Yeah, and I know a few Newcastle fans who say they'd have three Champions League titles if they'd kept him. I also know a few PSG fans who are glad they never signed him. I also know Mick Jagger who reckons their last tour would have been ruined had Armstrong joined the band.

Armstrong is NOT a PL player, and he's playing in a dogs*** system with four midfielders behind him, two of which are DMs. He still gives 100%. When he's crap for Wolves in the Championship, then people can pipe up.

2

19 Apr 2026 18:35:13
Armstrong may run his little heart out week after week, but the truth is he isn't good enough.

Will he be good enough in the Championship? Only time will tell, but I can only judge him on his time so far, and, let's be honest, he's been dross.

Hopefully, Rob is right about him, and he will prove to be a very good Championship player. We can only hope.

0

19 Apr 2026 18:49:07
He's also supported by two wingbacks who have something like three assists in 65 games. Tchatchoua needs to pump in 125 crosses for one assist. Bueno isn't much better. As said, when he's gash in the Championship, then people can start slating him.

Guy runs around because, if he doesn't, he'll be stood around scratching his nuts while the clowns behind him try and remember how to play football.

2

19 Apr 2026 20:37:15
But this is the system that Rob Edwards plays.
