After 20 games played we were 12 points adrift of Nottingham Forest in 17th place and PL safety.
After 21 games played we are 14 points adrift of Nottingham Forest in 17th place.
The players improvement in endeavour and attitude is not yet reflected in the league table.
08 Jan 2026 13:42:29
In other words, we drew and they won in our respective last matches. Apologies, FTP.
08 Jan 2026 15:45:51
Yes Old Wulf that is correct.
If you take our points accumulation over the last six games compared to Forest we have 5 points and they have 6 so although we have improved and the players are now playing for the shirt we have worryingly not gained any ground on our competitors but have fallen further behind.
08 Jan 2026 15:44:36
After 17 games we were 16 points adrift of Nottingham forests in 17th. Showing the players improvement in endeavour and attitude is clearly reflected in the league table. We had 2 points 3 games ago, we now have 7.
What a pointless comment designed to shed a negative light on what the team have achieved in recent weeks. It’s clear to see how the team has improved under RE not just by looking at the results. It seems some people just want to make it look like nothings changed. What a joke.
08 Jan 2026 17:33:50
In 2026, Wolves have 4 points and Forest only have 3.
Statistics can be manipulated to fit whatever objective you're trying to find.
08 Jan 2026 17:43:19
We have to keep going and hope someone else can get dragged in later in the season,
08 Jan 2026 17:58:09
Sorry but I feel like I'm reading a different thread to everyone else here?! First has simply pointed out that despite an upturn in perfromances/effort we are however still further a drift. What part of that is incorrect or maniplualtated exactly?! I know he's been previously negative but let's try and judge each post on its merit shall we because what then is negative (or even inrorrect) about 'The players improvement in endeavour and attitude is not yet reflected in the league table'?!
Yes its nice that we've turned a corner and credit to the team/RE for it but surely people are still allowed to point out the realities of our predicament?! I'm afraid the reality (however you spin/manipulate the data) is we look more likely to go down today than we did last week.
The Forest result agaisnt WHU has put all three teams in the zone in very real danger, that's just facts I'm afraid! Don't believe me then ask a WHU fan 😳
08 Jan 2026 19:42:36
Because it’s manipulation of the stats BB, as my post points out over a longer timeframe we are in fact better off. Using one game as an example isn’t a true reflection. As I said we now have 5 more points than we did 3 games ago which shows vast improvement even if we did only have 2 points. To say it’s not reflected in the table is misleading. As goodwhileitlasted points out we have a point more than them over the last three games.
Ultimately it’s pointless making the comparison and all it does is cast a negative light on things. The only thing that’s relevant is that we have got more points in the last 3 games than we had over the previous 18.
I’m all for people pointing out the way they view the predicament but I think we all get it by now, what’s the point in constantly reminding everyone other than to put a downer on what has been a good three games. Yes staying up is unlikely but why try kill the hope that some still have?
08 Jan 2026 20:36:36
A positive stat for you then Goatmark1 is that if we match Brentford’s results for the rest of the season we will finish on 26 points less than them.
08 Jan 2026 21:49:06
Apparently 6 out of 10 fans don’t believe in statistics 😂
08 Jan 2026 22:39:19
99% of statistics are only true 50% of the time 100% true that or is it 90% true? I’m only 40% sure
🤪🤪
08 Jan 2026 23:16:53
Let hope they win the rest of their games then firstthepoints. But yes well done we are 26points behind Brentford yet another pointless stat.
Tbh I think it’s more likely that we need to catch Leeds, whatever the case all we can do it try win as many as possible and hope others around us lose as many as possible. Much like the transfer thread the other day looking at what other teams are doing just adds to the disappointment. We can only try to control our own destiny
08 Jan 2026 09:20:19
Great second half what a great finish by Mane hit it early with power beating a top goalkeeper we have a top talent on our hands. Good tactical change by Rob at half time and great fight by the players to recover from a difficult first half.
Great support from our fans on a freezing cold night and it was brilliant to see the players giving shirts to fans at the end COYW
08 Jan 2026 11:19:18
The 'new manager bounce' has started to happen. And Rob has brought Mane through. OK, we will almost certainly go down but the omens are good for next season with Rob in charge of rebuilding. There will be money to spend in the Championship from player sales and parachute money this summer and we can roll over or re-finance the £100mil loan we took out.
As far as I can see, Fosun do this re-financing trick all the time, and that is not a lot of money in today's Championship.
08 Jan 2026 07:06:36
Seen the game good second half performance but what really is getting to me. Jackson he's supposed to be a wing bang fastest player in the league yet only once did he get to the byline. He gets the ball but passes sideways or backwards even when he has the space to attack the defender.
08 Jan 2026 10:15:33
Time to give Lima a go. I believe he will be what we need at wing back.
08 Jan 2026 12:02:20
BazaLima or Rodrigo gomez gotcto be an up grade on Jackson who just won't take on anybody in a 1 on 1 situation.
08 Jan 2026 12:47:54
Maybe that’s why they called Lina back?
08 Jan 2026 15:19:32
I think recalling Lima was a great idea, because whilst he looks a long way from Prem ready we likely won't be in the Prem next season. Add to this that they clearly didn't want to give Hoever a contract extension and I think (for once) we may actually be approaching that situation looking beyond our nose.
Looks like he ain't going back out on loan now cause after last night he's played for two clubs this season now 🧐
08 Jan 2026 22:26:56
I think we should try to replace Hoever with Henry or Dyson or get both and make it a clean sweep.

07 Jan 2026 22:54:04
Good point tonight a cracker of a save from Pickford prevented us picking up all 3.
Another positive it's 3 matches in a row unbeaten for us now.
07 Jan 2026 22:17:33
A few points to make ; Sa is better than Ramsdale, Andre ran the game 2nd half, Mane is special but Hugo was MoM! Whoever said there was no effort must be a Boggie! FWAW.
07 Jan 2026 23:17:01
It’s funny how the people who say the players aren’t putting effort in don’t then come back and give the players credit when it’s due. It seems some even think they are supporting the players despite the claims of no effort which doesn’t add up to me.
Another good point today, desperately needed the three but proud of the team and the work RE has put in. There’s still hope, for some at least.
08 Jan 2026 09:36:02
In fairness Goat I would suggest that is because as paid professionals of a Prem team then effort is literally the base level expectation that fans have every right to expect?! This isn't an under 9s local YMCA team, it's a group of very well paid individuals! I don't mind people criticising when it's warranted (please see the performance agaisnt Forest, which even RE said was the worst he'd had).
What I do get frustrated with is people writing off players because of who they are when they aren't playing any worse than any of the other players (Hwang and Arias in particular get that a LOT)!
08 Jan 2026 10:00:58
I think it can work inthe other sense that we only mention what we think is poor, for instance I and old wolf noticed hwangs poor aspects in the first half but we never mentioned the two or three flicks passes or turns, it's easy to criticise but we're not so quick to praise.
08 Jan 2026 11:47:30
Yes big picture doesn't look good, but if RE can get the players (and fans!) enjoying the game and hopefully we can rebuild for a promotion push next season.
07 Jan 2026 21:48:43
Ramsdale or Trafford let's get a proper no1
Then a no2
07 Jan 2026 22:41:13
It's a nice idea however Trafford has just returned to City so ain't going to be pushing to join a Champ bound club. And Ramsdale made it clear he didn't want to come and that was before we were bottom of the league and going down. Not to mention that I bet both their wages are beyond our current reach 😔
07 Jan 2026 21:28:47
No urgency. 9 men you have to play quick. No long balls. Run at them. 2 lost points there!
07 Jan 2026 21:48:40
The goal Mane scored was laid on by Larsen, I know not many will agree with me but I think those two can play together. I know this probably won't happen because Larsen will go. Just wishful thinking.
07 Jan 2026 21:56:59
Unbeaten in 2026!
07 Jan 2026 21:59:15
I totally agree with u we need to go and attack with pace and really through the kitchen sink at them
07 Jan 2026 22:38:35
I agree with the two points lost but you also have to sympathise with Edwards. The hand he was dealt really was shocking. That wasn't a bad result tonight, away at Everton but sadly we just don't have that luxury now. If we'd had just 7 points when he'd arrived we'd be back in with a shout.
The problem (like usual:) was that despite Jeff saying we wouldn't make the same mistake again we did precisely that, VP should have been gone about a month before they pulled the trigger and I think that mistake will be the needle that breaks the camels back 😭
07 Jan 2026 22:44:05
Some people are never happy
07 Jan 2026 23:43:31
Wolves have to practice playing against 9 men more often.
Come on, Edwards!
07 Jan 2026 20:26:42
Get hwang off, a lot of running but under hit passes, backward looking and the opportunity he had was way off despite his appeal for a corner. I'd bring Wolfe on push Hugo up, get mane running through off tolu decoy.
We got to push earlier and get round em.
07 Jan 2026 21:43:04
Well what a save to deny Hugo? What a pass and goal from larsen/mane. Sad that we couldn't capitalise at the end and take three points, but my night was made by greasy boy getting his marching orders for being such a fool in his sarcasm.
Great effort and desire again, much to feel positive about but sooo frustrating at times with mis passing and playing back when we should be oicking forward into the box.
2 points lost or a point away, does it really matter now, we're worth watching again.
07 Jan 2026 22:02:12
Don’t ever play Larsen and Andre again. Tchatchoua seems scared and just does what he’s told by nearest players. If he’s got the speed of a winger then use it!
Hwang was good. Stupid hands on by Santi to lose us an opportunity.
Overall good play but we need to finish convincingly. Unbeaten in 2026 😉
07 Jan 2026 23:06:59
To me it seemed bringing Andre on changed the game and Larsen played the great ball to Mane for the goal. Admittedly he was slow and didn’t do much else but give him some credit.
08 Jan 2026 12:16:41
Maybe we should put Larson in midfield as that was a precision pass whereas he's poor upfront and jumps as though he's wearing shackles. Trouble is one swallow never makes a summer.
08 Jan 2026 12:56:54
Sorry, in the excitement of it all I hadn’t realised Larsen was the one who assisted Mane! I was hoping he’d get a goal himself as he’s been a let down. As you say Old Wulf he plays better in midfield.
Although it’s likely he’s on his way out. Well, he was until Mane starting getting all the attention!
A lot of running for Andre but gets too easily wound up. He needs to be careful.
