Rumoured that Wolves are interested in Aaron Ramsey. A strange one to me, he's 30 and costly, he may have experience but isn't he the wrong age range. Moutino is 34 coming 35 so both together in midfield would be aged. Wolves may view him as a stop-gap pending the younger players coming through but that's an expensive stop gap. Ramsey's wages would not be sustainable either, so on balance I hope it's not true. Can do better with the likes of Paulinha, Cavhalio IMO. What a mistake it was letting Goncalves go.

1.) 01 Aug 2021 14:00:31
If FOSUN have ambition then Ramsey could fit well sharing the Moutinho spot and part insurance against Neves leaving us at a late stage as his head is being turned. Nothing against Paulinho or Cavhalio but are they on Wolves radar stil?

2.) 01 Aug 2021 15:57:56
Just need to match his £400k per week salary.

3.) 01 Aug 2021 16:12:37
That is a shame JasM.

4.) 01 Aug 2021 18:56:03
Our club is a investment for fosun nothing else buying 17to 23r olds for 5/ 10/ 15k players and selling them on two three years later with the odd exception for 10/ 30k profit .
Fosun will keep us in the premiership aways finishing between 7th and 15th with the occasional cup run that we might be granted .
We have to remember we are not a family club anymore family clubs do not survive in the premiership.
Regarding our team / squad
To obtain a top half finish we need a good established centre half plus a forward a proven goal scorer .
Neves/ Traore / podence who knows if they’ll be with us this year or next but fosun will have it covered .

5.) 02 Aug 2021 07:12:59
Wolf1960. Thanks for reality check and the fosun 10 year plan. They really almost made a false start in the first 3 years with few injuries. Maybe a larger squad full of youth will continue some progress. Cannot afford expensive prima donna players who are no longer hungry for success.
Bruno will have knowledge of their plan. COYW.

6.) 02 Aug 2021 13:28:56
Rest assured Bruno
Would have been given plans . told in no uncertain terms and spoke to six months ago the plans of fosun well before any appointment Bruno knows more about wolves fc including the squad than any wolves fan he would have been given a blue print six months ago and videos of the last three years regarding the squad and players .
Fosun are a business and a business that failure is not excepted.
Fosun are here to build with youth / young players with the odd exception.
Relegation is not on the agenda if it was their would be no point in buying wolves in the first place .
Wolves fc now are a building in progress over the next five seasons we will see players come and go plus managers . we wolves fc are growing at the moment 7th to 15th in the premiership with the odd exceptions of cup runs anything else will be a bonus .
It’s impossible to rub shoulders with Man City Man Utd Liverpool at the moment but five years time under fosun I believe will be possible.
My advice to any wolves fan sit back enjoy the ride it will come .

07 Jul 2021 17:05:01
Now rumoured that Nuno may want to take Traore to Spurs. My reaction is please do at the right price, he's over rated as seen by Spain at the Euros, difficult as seen by contract talks and the money, providing it's enough could be better used for the team.

1.) 07 Jul 2021 17:21:00
Would hate for Traore to leave the club, but I think the wolves will be fine with the addition of Trincao. I hope that money could be used to bolster the center midfield and bring in another CB or two.

2.) 07 Jul 2021 18:12:28
Funny how Nuno is being linked with all the Wolves players who ended up costing him his job last season. Today its Traore, yesterday it was Jimenez and last week it was Neves and Moutinho.

It's just the papers making stuff up.

3.) 08 Jul 2021 09:34:32
Jas M pretty much summed it up.

4.) 08 Jul 2021 09:41:17
99% true Jas. Trouble is the 1% of rumours that turn out to be accurate. For example, Jota to Liverpool, Doc to Spurs, Nuno to Spurs (earlier this year) .

5.) 08 Jul 2021 11:13:44
Who out of current squad would you sell?
Personally i'd sell.
Traore think he'd struggle in a 442 in prem. Imbalances the team as he doesn't track back. I do get that he can be unplayable but was it 4 goals and 4 assists last season? isn't consistent enough for what wolves want which is european football. Plus likely to get 40m for him.
Boly-not the same player since C.V. struck not sure why.10-15m
Moutinho- if he doesn't want player coach role then I thibk we should move on for both joao and the club.5m
Question marks over
Rui, Neves, Donk, Saiss
Cant see
Neto or Coady being sold.

6.) 08 Jul 2021 11:24:23
@ Madman Mir-17m, Cutrone-10-15m, Vinagre-13m not sure about the costs you've suggested, but I'd agree that they're all but sold.

Really need to look at another CB as Boly will likely be gone for the AF-Con and as suggested the 'Rona may have affected him in terms of health.

I can see Dendonker being kept as Bruno likes to play with DMFs which is his natural position. Neto is injured until October so he isn't going anywhere this season.

I really don't envisage Traore staying, if the price is right sell him, he was found this last season. Plus he doesn't seem keen on signing a new contract.

7.) 08 Jul 2021 11:29:37
Blimey, Madman, you don't half put inflated prices on our cast offs. If only! I think it was pretty obvious that Boly didn't fully recover from C.V. so hopefully he'll be back to his commanding self next season. Apart from Neto who may not return this year, Adama is our only fit player who can make a difference by running with the ball to effect. I wouldn't want to lose that option personally.

8.) 08 Jul 2021 12:58:35
Blimey Old Wulf, you've forgotten Trincao after only 4 days and Podence too.

9.) 08 Jul 2021 14:01:38
Tell you what, if we well all those players mentioned above, and for the money quoted, we will be the richest club in the world in five-a-side football. Hang onto Kilman, he's represented England at Futsal football. He's used to the 1-3-1 format. Bruno may prefer 1-2-2 though!

10.) 08 Jul 2021 14:17:20
Interesting lads.
To be honest i'd say those fees due to age and the markets you would be selling to.
Mir had a good season in la liga ina struggling side.17m for a 23 year old seem a fair.
Cutrone aged 23 at 10m seems fair as I think he would do a job at a Torino or similar side in Serie A.
Traore 40m would be fair. He hasn't signed a new contract and I think its time to move on.
I had actually forgotten about Podence. I'll put it out there i'd sell him. He was a poor mans jota. And he hasn't hit the same dizzying heights.
We really do need to look at the balance of the squad and having a few options on our bench. Which we lacked last season.

11.) 08 Jul 2021 15:52:35
I hadn't Jas. Just that Podence is too injury prone and we've yet to see Trincao in the flesh. Let's hope that he can produce the goods but I reckon he'll need a fair amount of time to bed in.

12.) 09 Jul 2021 10:31:40
Siiisenor - how much are we selling Traore for if we can buy a CM and 2CBs oven ready to play in the Prem?
However I obviously agree we should hang on to Traore - our best player by far and at the moment only major attacking threat- at least until we discover if the new players cut it or, like seasons crop, fail to measure up or the injured ones can come back as they were pre injury.
However I agree with you that we need to buy at least 2 or 3 oven ready players as the squad remains v thin and signing 2 new kids plus RAN may well ( let's hope not but we don't know) not move the dial.
Odd that on here criticising certain players - Traore, Podence, Saiss etc etc is abolutely fair game - but others, who haven't delivered, as they have over the years or haven't even kicked a ball yet are viewed as messianic figures and any hint of criticism or scepticism of them or Jeff Shi is met with opprobrium.
I find it strange that our premier league status is taken so casually by so many of you and balance/ conservatism is so poorly received.

13.) 09 Jul 2021 12:07:58
I agree Future is old gold.
The issue we face though is we took a gamble on Boly, Saiss, Raul to name a few that were senior players and they all came off.
The 'experienced heads' some fans especially older fans by an large want cost far to much and we have struggled during our success to convince them to sign (whether that's Nuno or what we offered contractually the jury is out) . We also struggle with our location as shown in the reports of the Zinchenko and Franck Kessie negotiations as both players were notsold on Wolverhampton.
If you look at Citys success they have brought players aged between 18-26 normally english players younger to avoid the price increase such as Stones and they have kept tabs on the likes of Laporte and Ruben Dias to purchase as cheap as possible. To think laporte cost less than Raul. And Dias cost nearly 30m less than Maguire.

14.) 09 Jul 2021 15:10:08
As usual Madman despite your name you write a v sensible and good post ( as was the one above re Coutinho) .
Wolverhampton is no Vienna and yes our wages are among the lowest in the Prem so its not easy.
But for the money spent last year I showed in an earlier post what we could have got, (others did), and many of them were experienced pros. But agreed it is not easy as everyone wants what we obviously want hence Burnley quoting £40m+ for Tarkowski
ps everyone put that value into mind when valuing Traore.

16 Jan 2021 23:55:03
So what is going on? Five points from 27 since Raul was injured. Rumours that Nuno is being touted for other jobs by Mendez. No new striker coming in, only Cutrone and Gibbs-White recalled. It doesn't make any sense unless there is trouble behind the scenes.
Todays substitutions were bizarre, Neves was Wolves best player and Coady deserves better even though he conceded the second penalty. Why 4,3,3 when 3,5,2 has worked so well?
Has Nuno fallen out with his key players? It seems he might have before. Someone needs to get a grip otherwise I see a relegation battle coming. All does not look good.

1.) 17 Jan 2021 09:06:01
Fans like you make me laugh. Neves our best player i'm glad this is only a opinion, he was terrible gave the ball away got caught in possession numerous times he bottled it. As for captain coady making a challenge like that after seeing boly do it his criminal, nuno has been to loyal to coady ever since playing for England he's been full of mistakes. Our back 4 don't throw there body's on the line, I saw atleast 3 times yday albion defenders do this. We are terrible at the moment.

2.) 17 Jan 2021 10:16:10
In my opinion we have to go to a back 3 we know it works, as for bringing back cutrone and mgw it only added numbers not quality and that needs addressing,
Last summer's transfer policy has failed. forsun have to accept that will happen from time to time and be bold enough to fix it
Let's hope a cup win next week can lift the gloom and restore confidence, . It's not a time for trying new stuff, go back to what we do best.

3.) 17 Jan 2021 10:27:54
Laugh away! You have chosen to only respond to the point you disagree vwith in relation to the WBA game, not the wider issue. Try widening your horizons and you might make a positive contribution sometime.

4.) 17 Jan 2021 10:34:38
Our best player yesterday was Boly.
I still can't believe we lost-68% possession and most of that in their half!
2 penalties and a flooky looping header.
Oh1 and a penalty denied for us!

5.) 17 Jan 2021 13:15:46
Pedrowolf. we will lose Friday in the fa cup as you well know. writing is on the wall as with yesterday.

6.) 17 Jan 2021 14:07:04
I hope your wrong nigelT .
Surely we can defend against half a dozen plumbers etc
And ruddy will no doubt be in goal.

7.) 17 Jan 2021 14:24:37
Still lose. lost in 1986 and will lose again.

8.) 17 Jan 2021 15:42:26
Nigel we won't lose to Chorley, if that was to happen Nuno would be out of a job, let's get behind the team and we can go on a good cup run, we all now what's wrong and we start again Friday and have to improve, with respect to these clubs we cannot repeat defensive mistakes like we did against the rubbish, Brighton and Burnley with the money we have spent.
Positives out the game thought Silva is getting better each game and getting a bit more physical, took is goal well.
Also would like to now how we didn't get penalty against rubbish for the hand ball can somebody tell me.

9.) 17 Jan 2021 15:59:09
Looking at the stats this season were top of penalties conceded and bottom of penalties awarded
It's not helping us.

10.) 18 Jan 2021 12:19:27
No surprise on the penalty stats. You need to have possession in the opponents box to get penalties and we just don’t have that. Adama and Neto should be attacking the box constantly with their footwork yet they attack the corners and make a cross that no one will receive.

11.) 18 Jan 2021 13:06:45
Totally agree Stourbridge. Traore and Neto need to play much closer to centre and attack the box instead of playing on their own in no mans land and keep wasting opportunities. Semedo also doesn’t get into the box enough. Hoever did try to do this when he played and looks a good long term prospect and Johnny Otto will when he gets back.

12.) 18 Jan 2021 13:32:10
Stourbridge being saying that for ages!
Even with Jimenez and sometimes Doherty in there it was a inefficient strategy. Now with no one or just - in the words of Glenn Hoddle, "he doesn't head the ball" - Fabio Silva it is a complete waste of time as demonstrated by the fact we don't score from those crosses.

13.) 18 Jan 2021 14:24:36
Pedro - good posts.

14.) 18 Jan 2021 23:01:23
Cheers, on Fabio hopefully he will live up to his price tag, but right now we need a proven striker come on fosun help us out we're obviously struggling.

Beginning to think Lage is another Dean Saunders based upon his latest intellectual analysis of Wolves problems I quote:-
"We can improve on three things that are important, " said Lage. "The first is the way we play, so trying to play in a different way to try and create more chances.

"That can help the players. The other is how to arrive in the positions in the box to have more solutions when the guys cross it. The movements, where I can be to score goals.

"Also the ability for the players to create their own chances. We have Raul [Jimenez] and Pedro [Neto] with a good average of goals but next best is Ruben [Neves]. Durrrr!

31 Aug 2021 22:47:10
I've been a supporter for 50 plus years and have never felt as badly let down as this. The opportunity is there but the will isn't!

1.) 01 Sep 2021 01:28:04
According to Sky Sports Wolves net spend in this transfer window is actually more than Liverpool and Chelsea.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 06:58:20
I think Bruno and the fans have been let down again.

3.) 01 Sep 2021 09:23:54
I'd rather have seen Traore go than MGW. MGW was blending in well and he adds a possibility to change the style of play. As apposed to Traore who is a one trick pony. He reminds me of Forrest Gump. Signs saying, "RUN" and one in the Penalty area saying "shoot" or "pass". Neither of which he confidently do. At least with £30 we could have bought someone who could hit a barn door.

31 Aug 2021 12:32:10
With Renato Sanches deal now only rated 50/ 50, Jack Hendry now destined for Club Brugge, Lookman set for Leicester, Caleta- Car and Botman looking highly unlikely the only good news seems like Neves and Traore might be staying. If we can't get deadline deals over the line I fear for the season, come on Jeff.

09 Jul 2021 16:56:20
Although Nuno did a great job it did seem to me that he was prepared to reject players with sme potential too quickly, he didn't give them a chance. It will be interesting to see whether Bruno shares his views or supports the younger players coming through. Nuno, to me, was like Mourinho ( can't spell) he really wanted the "nearly" finished product. Bought a lot of young potential only to deny them opportunity. let's hope Bruno can unlock the potential then we won't need to spend megabucks.

1.) 10 Jul 2021 13:50:06
Mike, Nuno was a victim of his own success. He took over when we were in the championship. Immediate promotion, was the job description. The best way was to use the Mendes connection and Fosun's money, and sign, sign, sign! That business model didn't really allow for the kids at the club to be brought on. Short-term thinking I know, but needs must. Then, when injuries and luck went against us, and money was tighter, we didn't have the luxury of oven-ready academy graduates to shore things up, resulting in a downward spiral. Our own home-grown versions of Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane etc would have made all the difference. I hope now that Fosun will learn from this and back Bruno with more of a long-term sustainable outlook with a healthy mix of top class signings and youngsters developed from within.

2.) 10 Jul 2021 14:30:50
Disagree Deep Throat, while the £20m-£30m signings were happening so were a lot signed as youngsters for the future. However they have either been moved on or blocked for the future by past policies. Time that changed is all I am saying. Some who have gone elsewhere are now valuable stars, that Portugese lad for instance - what was his name. Vinagre will follow I predict.

02 Jul 2021 15:01:51
It is suggested that Traore may be available for c£20m because of Wolves "financial woes". What " financial woes"? More journalistic twaddle or am I missing something?

1.) 02 Jul 2021 17:30:20
Twaddle mate already been said no less than £40million for Traore.

2.) 02 Jul 2021 17:36:06
Traore on the bench this time for Spain.

3.) 02 Jul 2021 18:21:07
Yeah lazy ass journalism I could write a better story than that 20 million sounds more like his salary for 4 years lol if he goes it will IMO ( back to Barcelona) with players coming other way but rest assured FOSUN have always said if players go it will be for 3 times what we payed for them so rest easy any go others will be coming in.

4.) 02 Jul 2021 18:27:19
I am sure someone posted for us to sign sakiri he just scored gor the Swiss.
1a piece you never know if stays a draw we may see Traore come on and cross into row Z lol only joking we see Traora play a blinder and score the winner after an amazing dribble past 7 Swiss defenders.

5.) 02 Jul 2021 18:54:59
Nah phill this Spain manager has not got a clue soon as Swiss went to 10 men I said perfect TRAORE will come on and smash the winner but no it just ain't going to happen.

6.) 02 Jul 2021 19:29:49
Spain just put their 5th and last remaining sub on.
I agree Giants the Spanish manager a joke.
Spain striker couldn't hit a barn door Spain don't score many goals lacklustre in attack a perfect perfect setting for Traore to get out there a do what he does best attack and drive forward.

Doesn't look likely Coady will get a look in.

But I read that Belguim are accessing the fitness of de brunya and hazard so our best bet to see a wolves is dendonker. He did come on last match but only for a few minutes.

7.) 02 Jul 2021 19:51:40
I agree GAG, where a bloke like Traore can commit a couple of defenders that really opens up the spaces (especially with a tiring team) for a slick passing team like Spain. It seems like Traore isn’t an option for the Spanish manager where they’re pressing for a goal. That’s a shame but they got through and (hopefully) Adama will get to warm another bench.

8.) 03 Jul 2021 09:52:16
If I had been a Croatian or Swiss defender after just playing 90 minutes, having heavy legs, with 30 mins of extra time to go against a Spain side pressing for a goal, seeing Adama coming off the bench feeling fresh with pace, power and crosses would be the last thing in the world I'd want to be dealing with.

I don't rate Luis Enrique's decision making and Spain have been riding on a knife edge all tournament, but somehow they're only 2 games from winning it now.

Phil - there are a few players who've stood out at this tournament who could potentially be good signings at a good price. Doku for Belgium stood out last night as a good young player who could hold down a first team spot. Went missing for a bit of the first half, but was looks to have something about him.

9.) 03 Jul 2021 10:38:53
Morning Alex,
Yes Doku looked a decent player very quick feet and pacey.
Disappointed about Traore and dendonker not playing.
A bonus outcome is they not injuried through not playing if they are still both with us and not sold.
Traore the one highly likely to leave us Dendonker if Lage plays him in his prime position midfield I think he could be a lot better in his performance.
Some don't rate dendonker but I see dendonker always making lung bursting runs into the box but goes unnoticed as the service into the box last season was very poor.
I have high hopes with Lage more attacking approach.

I'm itching for the new season to start.

10.) 03 Jul 2021 11:03:14
The rest will do them both good. Dendonker is a good option to have in the squad. Last season his lack of goals was the biggest issue when he played in midfield. He missed a lot of good chances, but did get in the positions for the opportunities.

Traore not playing for Spain may work in favour of him staying for one more season, as he isn't being displayed in the shop window so to speak. It would be interesting to know whether Lage has spoken to him at all over the past couple of weeks. I'm sure all will become clear within the first couple of weeks after the final has been played.

I'm cautiously optimistic about next season at the moment. It's an unknown with new ideas and hopefully new players and existing ones in possible new roles. I'll be ignoring the friendly results as they'll be meaningless, then taking it a game at a time until Christmas so we can see what players we have and how they settle in and how Bruno sets the team up.

11.) 03 Jul 2021 11:04:20
Doku was certainly a livewire and has massive potetial however I am not sure that WF is a priority unless you think Troare is going to leave.
If that happened though we'd need more than a few promising youngsters as you would be ripping out he heart of the team and (with Neto injured and Jimenez coming back from injury) the bulk of our attacking threat.

12.) 03 Jul 2021 11:35:38
Hi Thefutureisoldgold,
I think Traore highly likely to leave purely because he hasn't signed the contract wolves have had in place for him.
I here rumours of wolves having to sell to generate funds and Traore is our best asset but I think with Lage different attacking style to nuno Traore maybe a better asset for us I'd he signs contract and remains.
It's all guess work from me.
Doku as all possible signings come down to how much money.
We do have some quality youngsters in the u23's maybe with the new manager in Lage we will see more of them.

{Ed002's Note - Wolves have shown no interest in Doku.}

13.) 03 Jul 2021 11:37:57
Agreed. Our attacking side may need some strengthening though as we don't know how Jimenez will perform next season and the numbers from the other attacking players were poor, although some of that could be down to formation and team set up under the previous regime as well as other circumstances.

Priorities for me are an experienced attacking midfielder with a bit of pace who can run between the lines, and a strong right sided centre back who can play in either a 3 or a 2. Both aged between 25 and 32 and played at a reasonable level. Next priority is replacing anyone who leaves.

14.) 03 Jul 2021 22:37:04
Alex - I agree. For me it is a dominant RCB so that he and Boly - who would switch to LCB - could protect our area from aerial threats. We conceed far far too many from corners, free kicks and crosses last year.
We were also far too nice and were out muscled far too often.

With Tarkowski now in the last year of his contract will his price have come down to a level we can afford - although I suspect there will be many contenders for his signature if it has and sadly after last season we are no longer the next cab off the rank after the big 6 with Europa challenger credentials but a side that Burnley may well view as a peer. The win at Wolves might be pointed out to him if he suggested a move to Wolverhampton?

Sadly if we are playing a flat back 4 this would mean no place for Coady.
However as we have Semedo and now RAN - both players unsuited to a 4 you would hope that Lage will be smart enough to assess the squad and flexible enough to realsie that it can't play his way and therefore he has to change. We can only hope.
Second would be exacgtly as you say a CM who has legs.

I would hope we would find a younger and bigger version of Moutinho - Lingard?
However after the big spend last summer we almost certainly can't afford both now even if they were willing to come so we might need to be less ambitous or more creative than I am and find players others haven't seen yet?

15.) 04 Jul 2021 11:36:58
Actually instead of Lingaard who is probably now beyond us (fee and wages) RLC - who I suggested this time last summer - is being touted according to MSN by Steve Bull. He had a poor ish season at Fulham but may now be an option - assuming he is willing to leave London (qs have been raised about his commitment to his career before! ) as his stock must be at an all time low - with ramifications for fees and wages. However his potential is surely still massive even at 25 and if he gets back to where he was he does fit my younger and bigger version of Moutinho quite well.
Also as a v minor side point he would help with home grown quotas if that ever became an issue as well.

Can't see this happening as Coady under contract unitl 2025 and Wolves desparately need to strengthen the defence in January as Saiss and Boly are likely to be away at the African nations cup. Probably another Journalist short of bread and butter.

Consider this, where does Traore fit in the New Year when the front three will probably be Neto, Jiminez and Hwang.? Don't hesitate, take the money and keep the fee and the wages he will demand for new, quality signings.

After that fiasco I reckon they have no right to expect a finish above top 20. All I can say is that Lage (or whoever) must really rate Cundle and Jordao ( although is he even fit? ) because it will only take one injury to the midfield senior players for these youngsters to become extremely busy. I cannot understand the MGW loan as he had the potential to gain more experience on the job at the Mol than in stainless steel country languishing at the bottom of the Championship. Bizarre.

Pedrowolf, You just beat me to it! Bolla good enough to represent Hungary vs England but not good enough for Wolves in Premier League so goes on loan to Grasshoppers.

This is not based on football but finanace, has the club become a Mendes/ Fosun loan agency in order to make/ defray monetary considerations. None of this makes sense except for pulling money in.

Is this what Wolves being financially self sufficient means, - never mind competing on the field providing the loan fees keep flowing?

To recuit after the closure of the window players must be unattached. Julian Draxler ( I presume this is who you mean) is on the books of PSG isn't he?
