Listened to the game against PNE and watched the highlights and several things are apparent.
CP's attacking philosophy seems to be developing nicely as that could have been 5.
The team seem genuinely engaged and enthusiastic, especially Fer Lopez often leading both the charge and the celebrations. Our new talisman player, no doubt.
CP is delivering on his promises upon arrival to instill his methods and disciplines into the players. I't didn't see many sideways or backwards passing in that game.

Now I know some will say that PNE weren't great and that was reflected in the ebb and flow of the game and the score, but that is also encouraging. Remember when we used to beat the top sides then lose to the also rans?
We need these games early on to build confidence, team spirit and cohesion ahead of the tougher challenges ahead. So well done for that performance. Let's hope that they build on it.

What's important though, mate, is we finally broke our not winning away hoodoo. We hadn't won away for over a year until yesterday. This result, I think, is going to be a huge boost in confidence.

Wolves will need to act fast on Amario Cozier Duberry. According to Football Insider, take with a pinch of salt, of course, Rangers are advancing and submitting a new offer.

I hope, if he does sign, he doesn't turn out to be a dud. You've been talking about him so much that anyone would think you're his agent.

It is looking like Rangers or West Ham.

Project Joao Gomes is going to plan. Good lad.

Any advance on 4 for Brighton?

Do I hear 5, possibly 6, or even 7.

3

23 Aug 2026 15:27:31
It's a miracle that it's only 4-0. It should be about 8-0.

23 Aug 2026 16:13:45
Brighton declared at half time - pity!

How did John McGinn stay on the pitch? Not even a foul, had it been 80 minutes and 0-0 he would have walked, immediately subbed off afterwards. What's happening at Villa Park? Disarray. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ»

Just watched the highlights, oh dear, a bad day at the office or a sign of things to come? Either way, Brighton did a job on them.

It kills me to say it, but Emery is probs one of the best managers in the league, but Villa are defo going to be interesting to watch this season. They've basically peaked in the last two seasons, and in the last window have been absolutely decimated by losing all their top talent. So essentially they peaked and have followed that by having to sell off all their best players and replace them for cheaper/less established players, sound familiar?! Now I'm sure their owners aren't as incompetent as Fosun (I think that debate was put to bed a season or so back), but this still could be the beginning of a downward trend for them in the long term.

The FFP system just seems to make it very hard for clubs to break into the top four for much more than a couple of seasons at a time (please also see Newcastle). 🧐

Isaac Price from W**, anyone??

Nah, Wolves don't need another cm, and Wolves certainly don't need cm who plays for the Sandwell Bin Dippers.

Few things to whinge about after watching yesterday's game and reading today's news. One thing to speak about with great joy.

Mane frustrates me more and more as the weeks pass by. A selfish player who makes so many poor decisions. He's undoubtedly talented, but he needs taking out of the team. Against Preston, Rodrigo Gomes was far more effective than Mane. Mane demands the ball and far too often does nothing with it.

Fer Lopez is a cut above everyone else in the Wolves squad - probably everyone else in the Championship. If Wolves keep him and he remains injury free, Wolves will pick up a lot of wins.

Finally, Wrexham with ambitious owners are currently in the process of building a new Β£70 million stand at the Racecourse Ground. Β£18 million of public funding will help with the cost.

I won't be too hasty in blaming Fosun for their lack of ambition, and for being outthought by two Hollywood actors.

Jeff Shi was simply given too much power, and Fosun were too naive in their trusting of his ability and intentions. Jeff Shi will probably rank as the worst CEO in Premier League history. A man who knew nothing about football, had no interest in football, and no interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers. A truly arrogant man who stole a fabulous wage for many years.

Do Fosun have any plans for the Molineux stadium? Surely Fosun must see that unless Wolves significantly increase their income, they will not be able to compete in the Premier League. Jeff Shi attempted to build a record label to rival the Sony Music Group, but that failed. Silly Jeff.

Mane is wasted out wide on the left imo, he's more a No10, but we have Ferlo for that. To be fair, had Lopez not scored after that run for the first, we would be saying the same, as he could have put Mane in.

I think we will enjoy Ferlo for one season, then he'll be snapped up by the big boys, unfortunately. Enjoyed the 1.2 between Raul and Armstrong. Can't make my mind up in respect of Rodrigo.

23 Aug 2026 17:21:27
I think you're right, Nonsensical. Fosun did put too much faith in Jeff Shi and left him in place for far too long. They did plan to replace him a few years ago with the guy that chaired Grasshoppers for them, but he chose to leave Fosun to go home to China.

More recently, before they brought in Nathan Shi, there was some talk of an experienced outsider, but that didn't materialise either. Anyway, we'll probably need to wait until we get promoted to see if they've learned anything.

Writing this watching a Baggies game for the first time in forever.

Thatchoua is a better defender than Tripps, and probably the best defender in the championship.

Cesar is keeping it simple and he's genuinly my favourite manager since Nuno.

He just makes the right selections.

I think he will keep the same team except start Armstrong over Raul next game.

Just to reward Armstrong for the goal, and avoid any injury for Raul.

id happily see this back 4 play for the rest of the season and lets see how good they really are in the bigger games.

This young team has been built beautifully by CP. We could be in a position this time next season in the Prem with a fresh, young, exiting team.

Imagine if he could integrate TOLU back in as well.

The guy is a monster.

Remember when we won 6 games in a row under VP?
Toti and Munetsi started every single game.

I truly believe the squad is absolutely Stacked.

And I really really love what CP is doing with it.

I watched the game yesterday in full and it wasn't an easy win at all.

Armstrong popped up and deserves massive credit for that goal.

All we need to do is out score the other team this season and I think we can do that.

Mane at 18/19 is a high level baller. Perfect for him to spend a year making mistakes in the championship. Let him cook imo, I just think he should have chosen to play for England.

Lopez at 22 is another level fair play to the lad.

You were obviously enjoying a liquid lunch, ordinary.

5

23 Aug 2026 18:04:23
Old Wulf, he's been on more than a liquid lunch.

2

23 Aug 2026 18:10:00
Entirely liquid going off the Jackson claims! 🀣 Decent post overall, however, Jackson is not in the same league as Trippier. He's very quick, and might develop into a decent Champ RB, but to date he has been very average defensively and is often caught out of position and not nearly tight enough with his marking.

He's learning, and might still develop, but it's a lot easier to look good against Preston than it is against a Prem club or any of the many top Champs League sides Trippier excelled against. πŸ‘

2

23 Aug 2026 18:12:16
Also Tolu, is that a wind up? The guy's an absolute weapon who had to be escorted by security from training! He's also entirely average. Again, it's easy to look good when playing in lesser leagues!
Save a pint for the rest of us, Ordinary mate. 🀣🍻

23 Aug 2026 18:36:39
BullysBoy 11, I'd like to know where he built the young team. He's bought 2 players, 1 injured and 1 got ten minutes. The back 4 are great, that's why Wolves conceded 68 goals. Jackson dropped, Totti dropped. I need a headache tablet after reading that.

22 Aug 2026 23:04:09
On a serious note, just read of the ex W*** B*** player Quevin Castro passing away after collapsing on the pitch in Portugal.
No matter who he played for, or how much we hate Sandwell, it’s terrible to hear of such a young man losing his life. 25 is no age for anyone to pass away, it really is tragic, terrible news.

13

22 Aug 2026 23:23:33
Hadn't seen that story. How awful! We can hate the Baggies as much as we want, but football is just football, so any 25 year old passing is a horrific tragedy. Thoughts for his fam and the Baggies. So sad. 😭

23 Aug 2026 00:03:42
Saw him playing for York a couple of seasons ago. Incredibly sad news.

8

23 Aug 2026 10:08:58
Hadn't heard of him, but no matter what club or country it's awful to hear of someone so young passing. It is indeed sad news to hear, and my thoughts go out to his family, friends, and associates.

6

23 Aug 2026 13:06:47
Very sad news indeed. Is it my imagination, or are these deaths and serious on-pitch incidents becoming more common compared to the 1970s, when I first started following the game?

5

22 Aug 2026 21:52:06
Well done, 5700 away fans. Bostin!!!

4

23 Aug 2026 09:33:29
All you could hear was us! Steve Bull's a tatter and Si Senor, over and over. :) Our fans are magnificent wherever we go!

Question, tho, don't we need a minimum of 8 homegrown players? Even after double checking online, I only count 6?

Hopefully we add Cozier Duberry, but that still leaves us short?!

0

23 Aug 2026 10:11:49
We had 7, Admant. Hugo is classed as homegrown as he came through our youth.

1

22 Aug 2026 18:23:33
Good result. Only 46 more points needed to hit target No 1.

2

22 Aug 2026 17:44:30
I'm confused even thou a good win today CP has said he wants to keep Santi and Krejkci. But 2 matches now Krejkci nowhere and Santi sits arse on the bench. Are Wolves selling them so don't play and not get injured or does he prefer Toti? And if so the guy needs glasses.

Nothing against Djiga but surely Santi is better. Nobody on here can tell me Toti and Djiga are better than Santi and Krejkci.

6

22 Aug 2026 18:36:57
Perhaps they are not fully match fit yet, Dmac.

1

22 Aug 2026 18:48:28
Kreiji supposedly carrying injury, and Santi made it clear he'd prefer to move Dmac.

2

22 Aug 2026 18:48:58
Both had a very solid game today, albeit against a poor opposition. Even Jackson Tchatchoua looked good, to be fair, so not sure today can be compared to a game against a decent side, and therefore whether Djiga, Toti and Jackson are indeed good enough.

3

22 Aug 2026 19:03:36
I suspect Abbey is correct. Whilst they are likely superior players (certainly Krejci), I suppose it's tricky to select them if they are telling peeps at the club that they want out, whilst the others are working their socks off to play. Once the windows shut, they basically have to get their heads down and crack on. I wouldn't be surprised if the club have agreed to consider offers/let them go provided they behave, should no decent offers come in (that's clearly what's happened with Sa).
I don't rate Toti at all. However, it can't be ignored that three managers now have trusted him with the armband.

I suppose the point is that we don't get to be on the training ground or in the dressing room. Whatever we all think of him, the lad must be showing some genuine effort and leadership for three different managers to give him the armband.
Good performance today. Ironically, I thought Sa let himself down with the goal, but great to get the first win. As for Lopez, this kid's gonna light this league up. So pleased he's (finally) proving me right (about his potential). COYW. 🐺

22 Aug 2026 19:09:03
The question should be whether Djiga and Jackson are good enough. We've all seen, over the last season and a bit, that unless Toti has a Craig Dawson-like experienced player alongside him, he isn't good enough.

I didn't see any of the game today, so I cannot really judge anyone's performance. I know Lopez and Trippier combined really well last week, but how did the Lopez/Jackson combo work today? Who played well, and who didn't?

1

22 Aug 2026 19:49:03
Lopez was excellent today, Raul and Andre also had solid performances. I thought the defence actually looked surprisingly assured. There were very few mistakes, and they worked well together. I can barely remember one shot.

Mane was poor in the first half, but had an improved second half. Rodrigo was solid, as was Armstrong when he came on. Munetsi looked fairly anonymous throughout. Overall, a very good performance imo.

1

22 Aug 2026 21:35:41
Traore came on and showed he still has something to offer. His first touch was forward thinking as soon as he won a ball, and his defensive side, winning a tackle to turn over possession, was the start of our 3rd goal.

It may be hasty to let him go just yet. Not sure on how it plays with squad numbers, but definitely worth keeping if possible.

2

22 Aug 2026 17:13:29
Blackburn just beat Middlesbrough so although the point was bad at least he gave us a kick of the rear end and also it just shows that anybody can beat anybody at this level in the league.

4

22 Aug 2026 17:31:18.
I posted the same thing, VB, but my post went into the abyss somewhere. Maybe Blackburn isn't as bad as everyone expected. Good win today. I think Fer Lopez is our #10!
