Saiss signed new 3 year contract so I've heard but haven't actually seen it for myself, have you guys?

15 Jan 2022 09:50:36
Read this morning that Wolves are set to discuss a new contract with him

15 Jan 2022 14:37:48
Just read that we are signing the Estoril winger Chiquinho. Aged 21, 8 goals in 35 matches.

15 Jan 2022 18:11:58
Sounds like a'done deal' Deep Throat. Just checked out the dreaded YouTube highlights and he looks tricky and quick. Read two different versions of this story, one calling him a winger and one a striker.
Fabrizio Romano was the journalist who broke the story but at 20 years old will he be 1st team or under 23's.

15 Jan 2022 18:50:40
Estoril is where we signed Toti Gomes from and apparently Grasshoppers were considering buying him last Summer maybe we will sign him and loan him to them for a time. By the looks of things it hasn't done Toti Gomes any harm has it! Very good debut from him today I thought.

15 Jan 2022 19:59:23
Chiquinho looks to be a potential replacement for Adama - plays left or right wing and is very quick. Hope he is an investment for the future and Adama stays and signs new contract (at a reasonable wage rather than a crazy one).

15 Jan 2022 21:07:22
@LongmyndWolf Chiquinho Is 21, a year younger than Francisco Trincão, but two years older than Fabio Silva. So there’s no reason to say he can’t go straight into the first team squad. Yerson Mosquera Is also 20.

12 Jan 2022 19:19:32
Rumour is we are looking at Carlos Salcedo, a Mexican defender 29, he's contract is running down and we can snap him up for around £7 million

12 Jan 2022 15:07:04
According to the mail Boly is about to be sold.
I think something has gone on behind the scenes, I know he is injured at present but to go from first choice to way down the pecking order something has got to have happened behind the scenes.
He's been top notch in the past but maybe it is time to get new blood in.

12 Jan 2022 15:37:58
Just think Lage is sick of him being injured or ill all the time and pretty much said so a couple of months ago and he still hasn't been available since then. But for a handful of games, boly hasn't been great since he broke his leg. But he will be remembered fondly. He was massive for us in our rise from mid table championship to Premier league and Europe. Good luck to him if he goes

12 Jan 2022 18:14:10
Not sure I'd believe it, it is silly season after all! He's been nothing but injured and still is as far as I'm aware, not sure how he would even complete a medical right now?

15 Jan 2022 17:31:05
Regarding Boly it can't be sensible to suggest he's up for sale because he's injury prone.

11 Jan 2022 12:22:42
Just read that Chelsea have also been in contact about Traore.
Talks are not as advanced as Spurs apparently, but the more clubs that are interested the better, price wise.

{Ed002's Note - There has been no contact from Chelsea.}

11 Jan 2022 13:06:15
May be click bait Ed002, came from a journalist Dean Jones, but who knows?

11 Jan 2022 13:15:54
Chelsea are watching Podence.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

11 Jan 2022 15:18:47
A mate's son plays for Spurs Under13s. They get to hear rumours, but my mate has heard nothing about Traore being of interest to Spurs.

11 Jan 2022 18:31:17
For what it's worth, my mate with the son who plays for Spurs Under 13s, says that Dele Alli and Ndombele will be sold. He thought I was pulling his leg about Spurs going for Traore! Doesn't believe it. For me that's good news. If Traore goes I'd rather he goes to Barcelona. Sod's law, we sell him to an English clubs and he finds top form.

11 Jan 2022 19:34:50
I tell you what, they don't half gossip to all and sundry at Spurs. A few years ago, I knew Danny Batth (when he was captain), the 1st team physio and one of the youth coaches and none of them were ever privy to transfer news. Guess Spurs don't mind who knows their business.

11 Jan 2022 23:09:35
Don't you know,Jas, Daniel Levy holds daily meetings with the U13 squad and their parents so that they are fully briefed on all potential transfer dealings.

12 Jan 2022 10:09:08
@ Old Wulf - I laughed way too hard at this.

12 Jan 2022 10:15:55
Very funny guys. Well, it's all I can come up with but it's probably more realistic than our friend up a tree with binoculars outside Molineux! If Traore goes to Spurs, you are right and that's the credibility of the Under 13s rumour-mill down the pan! I'd hate him to go to Spurs though.

12 Jan 2022 10:18:18
Claims surfacing that West Ham have made an offer for Traore. This could get interesting if true. Personally, I'd still prefer him to go back to Spain.

12 Jan 2022 11:25:48
Only thing I can think of as to why we haven't heard anything from the man up the tree outside Compton training ground is that it's rather chilly this time of year lol.

Keep the rumours coming as that is all they are 'rumours',as this page is called.

12 Jan 2022 13:03:15
We apparently have West Ham, Spurs and Chelsea after Traore, not to mention Barcelona. Can't we enter him in Sotheby's auction? Going, going, gone!

12 Jan 2022 13:07:19
Where is our source who was formerly camped outside Compton up a tree? WE NEED HIM.

12 Jan 2022 14:48:03
In the meantime Jeff Shi the quiet man says nothing. So until white smoke comes out of the Mol chimney its all froth!

12 Jan 2022 14:48:40
Bloody cheek!
Spurs now rumoured to want Traore on loan.
Tell `em to take a hike Jeff.

12 Jan 2022 14:54:03
A good post by ed002 on the spurs rumours page about some if the players Spurs may be interested in. I couldn't see Traore mentioned.

{Ed002's Note - Not since 2015/16 as far as I know.}

12 Jan 2022 15:23:55
Why would AT want to go to Spurs on a loan deal? doesn't make any sense to me.

{Ed014's Note - maybe he wants to go to a smaller club 🤷‍♂️

13 Jan 2022 15:32:05
It is painfully obvious Wolves are not in any position to strengthen this window, so why even consider selling Traore? They have 4 real assets at the club namely Neves, Neto,Jiminez and Traore. No chance of replacing them if sold so why weaken the team. When Premier defenders are asked who they hate to defend against most Traore is always mentioned. If sold definitely double the 20m talked about, otherwise play him, Nuno got the best out of him.

13 Jan 2022 21:49:57
….because Traore’s a poor footballer - great athlete but no instinct for the game. If he was one of our main assets he’d been in the starting XI every week - he’s an impact sub at best.

14 Jan 2022 16:05:34
For a poor footballer he has quite a few admirers. True his end product needs work but that's what the coaches are there for. Surely the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Barcelona and others can't all be wrong. If he could produce the goals and assists every game he would not be warming the bench at Molineux.

14 Jan 2022 17:28:26
Coaches have worked with him for years - his finishing and crossing aren’t going to get that much better. Fingers crossed we can mug someone for £20m and get a proper footballer in.

14 Jan 2022 21:32:02
20 mill, good luck with that. Anyway here's to 3 points tomorrow.

15 Jan 2022 09:03:09
Maybe there's truth in the "rumour" that both Neves and Moutinho don't like passing short to him because of his first touch Jabba, blows too hot and cold for me tbh

10 Jan 2022 10:25:56
Spurs are rumoured to be about to offer £18m for Traore. Although with Neto coming back Traore could become surplus to requirement IMO not at £18m. Tell Levy to take a hike.

10 Jan 2022 13:16:33
Levy NO WAY! Double that if he goes to Spurs. I would far rather he went to Barcelona than see him improve his lot in the prem. Quite clearly he wants to move on and he will.
Bruno has to make sure of getting a centre back; so would prefer to get transfer sorted soon if money is going to be all important in this window.

10 Jan 2022 13:42:47
£18million plus Deli then yes.
Cash only then at least £25million.

10 Jan 2022 18:10:02
I'd take £25 million cash or £20 million with add ons. £5 million for 15 appearances £50 million for 10 goals scored over 2 seasons

10 Jan 2022 19:40:05
Twitter talk is saying straight swap for Dembele from Barca. Oh well, only 3 more weeks of these rumours to go.

10 Jan 2022 20:59:40
Was that Talking Wolves by anychance Jas?
That guy is a clown posts a load of rubbish on twitter.

11 Jan 2022 08:12:02
Now “Dangerous” Dave Edwards is urging Wolves to sell contract misfit Adama Traore in his weekly column in today’s E&S.

11 Jan 2022 21:16:38
I'd take a straight up swap for Dele Alli, third fastest player to reach 50 goals in the premier League I think. Just needs a confidence boost.

12 Jan 2022 11:00:05
To seanmorton95 - in what position in our system would the lazy Deli Alli actually play? And who would he play instead of?
As we currently play a 3-4-3 surely he can only play on the left side of the front 3 where Podence currently plays and Neto or Hwang will soon be available.
Sounds like a bizarre idea to me.

12 Jan 2022 11:31:04
He can also play in midfield and is best as a shadow striker, so if Bruno does switch to 4-4-2 he'd fit in behind Raul. Yes he's lazy but he's shown more promise than traore ever has.

12 Jan 2022 14:57:32
Haha, if Ali has shown more promise than Adama ever has then why is Conte the third manager in a row desperately trying to shift him?! Whereas we are the second club in a row desperately trying to tie Adama down?! Doesn't add up does it, he WAS full of promise and then he had his first drink and ever since then EVERY manager he's had has openly questioned his commitment to the cause?! As I've said before I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole and I suspect Lages to sensible to do it as well!

12 Jan 2022 16:24:03
I don’t think he could play in our midfield as we only play two in the centre and he’s a bit of a luxury. Even if we go to Lage’s preferred 442 he just doesn’t fit for me, but that’s only my opinion Seanmorton.
Personally I don’t think Spurs have a player available that I would want - but Chelsea do!

12 Jan 2022 16:28:42
Also, if Chris Wood goes for £25m Adama has to be worth £35m of anyones money!

12 Jan 2022 16:51:13
Also FYI he was the third fastest SPURS player to reach 50 goals NOT the Prem. In actual fact he doesn't even feature in the top 10 quickest Prem players to get to 50! He has ability but this ain't FIFA and a player with a bad attitude can ruin teams (please see Roger Johnson)!

10 Jan 2022 10:04:30
Great win on Sunday Podence looking good. Sadly maybe time to let Traore go, preferably abroad. Silva looking better, Raul not back to his best yet but if there is one man who deserves to wear the Shirt it's him.
Anyway better late than never.a Happy New Year to all on here from the very snowy Austrian Alps

08 Jan 2022 11:48:42
Barcelona allegedly interested in Traore to replace Ousmane Dembele if he doesn't renew his contract.
That would be far better than selling him in the Premier League for peanuts (relatively) then facing him on the pitch later.
Wolves and Barcelona have a good working relationship already, so hopefully, it may develop into something.

08 Jan 2022 12:19:22
Agree. rather him go back Spain, I’d love to keep him but if he doesn’t want to sign new deal what can you do, cash in while still can

08 Jan 2022 13:30:58
Hopefully included a player in the deal also

08 Jan 2022 14:04:55

08 Jan 2022 14:42:53
Agree, with not selling to a PL rival Jota second best goalscoring stats behind Salah has made us look real plonkers, a 40m bargain! Not sure I've seen enough of Trincao yet to make a decision.

08 Jan 2022 14:44:11
Maxy84 that's not a bad thought. Trincao can only get better, imo, as he adapts more to the Prem. Problem being they might want the Traore money to fund a new CH, who seems to be a Lage priority.

08 Jan 2022 16:21:58
That makes sense Longmynd. Strengthen a defence that hardly ever concedes and weaken an already goal shy attack. If Bruno really does want yet another centre half then he's knowwhere near as astute as I think he is.

08 Jan 2022 16:22:44
It's true Trincao can only get better, he has produced very little of note up to now, and too lightweight for the Premier. If Traore should be swapped for him a big fee should be included in Wolves favour.

08 Jan 2022 16:56:34
Barca buying Traore rests on Ousmane Dembélé being sold. According to the gossip rags.

08 Jan 2022 18:33:39
It does make sense OldWulf given that Boly's injuries are looking more long term and Sais will probably be away for several weeks at the Africa Cup. Lage is reduced to recalling a couple of on loan youngsters to fill the gap or re-purpose Dendonker.
I'm sure they're not blind to the lack of goals.

08 Jan 2022 23:00:50
Barca can't afford him

09 Jan 2022 07:51:06
Don't forget Marcal played many games for Lyon at centre half,Longmynd. Hoever can also play there and our yet to be see Columbian is on his way back.

09 Jan 2022 10:07:47
I've always seen Marcal as the solution to replace Saiss if no new CB is signed. That's why I think Giles was recalled with RANs recent injury problems.

Sanderson and Giles will likely play today in the Cup but when the league resumes I expect Marcal, Coady and Kilman to be the back 3. I am happy to see the youngsters get a go though - we've bought a lot 'for the future' players in over the last 5 years.

09 Jan 2022 10:14:33
Wolves will only bid for players who have no interest in coming here. Monaco defender 30 million so called bid, no interest in leaving the ligue 1 side. It's to appease the fans. No ambition

09 Jan 2022 11:58:09
Barcelona still have to move on players before they can register Ferran Torres before anything else not so sure they have any money and they will not pay much up front anyway. But if we are unlikely to be buying it doesn't make much difference does it.

09 Jan 2022 13:18:33
That's Adama cup tied now.

09 Jan 2022 15:44:51
Would Adama and Semedo be cup tied abroad?

09 Jan 2022 17:28:16
Time to get rid of traore now. No desire to sort his contract by the looks.
No desire to chase down or even run for the ball unless at his feet. Prodence has been disregarded since he got here but last two games now has ran his sock off that's commitment.
who would you rather play especially when Neto is back.

09 Jan 2022 18:18:26
Morocco (saiss) play Ghana tomorrow 4pm k.o.
I believe

09 Jan 2022 21:27:21
All good points gents. Not to be fussy but I would ask who Podence has been 'disregarded' by?! I think us fans have always been impressed but also waiting for him to find his consistency. Which in fairness niggling injuries has mostly prevented, not sure anyones disregarded him mind?
I'm also not convinced that Barcelona have any interest in Adama to be honest. They have SO many similar players (positional wise) that they are desperately trying to currently shift from the wage bill!

09 Jan 2022 23:39:36
Disregarded by the managers. I know he has had lots of unfortunate injury's but you don't get consistent if your not played week in and week out.

10 Jan 2022 00:03:32
You can't get played week in week out if your always trying to get back to match fitness. I get what your saying but I think you have to remember that (as the tale goes:) that Sellars and the club wanted Dani Olmo and Nuno over ruled them and went for Podence. So Nuno must have rated him pretty highly, I think it was just Nunos way to bring peeps in slowly (made even slower with the niggling injuries). With Lage I think Podence has usually been involved one way or another when ever he's been fit. The injuries have been the issue, obvs not his fault but in time gone by whenever he's looked like he's really starting to find his feet he's had a set back. Probs just the usual stuff of a player adapting to the Prem, let's hope he goes from strength to strength from here on eh 👍

10 Jan 2022 07:30:13
Podence has proved his worth over the past two seasons IMHO, him and Neto. Both give it 100% when playing. I’m still on the fence when it comes to Traore, him leaving is a potential blow - but he hasn’t covered himself in glory when he did get his opportunities to play this season. 18 appreances no goals and no assists.
I can’t help but think he wants out at this point.

10 Jan 2022 16:52:16
Debbie for me we sell Traore when it's best for us not when it suits him!
Pods I think when fit has always looked a very good player intelligent always looking to make a positive pass. In my opinion when he's playing as he is atm a better player than Olmo. Very much a team player and works hard for the team.

07 Jan 2022 10:40:08
Looks like we've been offered Doc on loan if Tottenham ITKs are anything to go by.

07 Jan 2022 11:20:41
Reading that we have had a €30 million bid turned for Benoît Badiashile

08 Jan 2022 09:17:32
When you want to make the next step and you sell your best players, the next step never happens,” Lage admitted.

06 Jan 2022 19:17:21
Would love Renato Sanchez to join this window but I think that depends on whether or not AC Milan have to replace Frank Kessie. If he doesn't leave then I think we might have a chance of signing Sanchez.
Another really good option would be Sergei Milinkovic Slavic from Lazio. Dendonker with wing mirrors and a real upgrade, especially in the goal scoring stakes. Could be costly but Lazio have previously been interested in Dendonker and a swap deal might be a possibility with us paying an additional £10 million plus. Still relatively young at 26 and with the sort of game that would suit the Premier League. Very similar to Soucek at West Ham.
Milinkovic Savic scored twice today against Empoli, for whom Cutrone did not feature in either starting eleven or the subs! Hope that doesn't signal another return Compton.

07 Jan 2022 08:32:50
He was omitted for 'personal reasons ', Wolfwhistle.

07 Jan 2022 09:18:01
Scot Sellars said “It’s hard to predict what happens in any transfer window, but it’s certain that we won’t bring in a large number of new signings" so to me this says it doesn't rule out signings, just not a large number. Maybe a marquee signing a la a Renato Sanchez.

In all reality, what is the point in having a youth team system if the shining stars cannot get a crack of the whip? I'm glad the younger guys are getting the opportunity.

I did attempt to post the whole SS statement previously, but it wasn't approved by one of the Eds, which is fair enough as it was quite large.

08 Jan 2022 04:03:24
Sorry but I have to say, we ain't getting Savic! No offence Wolf but you talk about him like he's some unknown gem in the Champ when in reality he's been one of the most talked about CM's in Europe for the last 3-5 years! Pretty sure he made the last Euro Dream team (maybe as a sub) but the idea that we'd get him for Dendoncker + £10m is laughable! This is a £65m+ who is on about £120-150k already where he is!
I'm not having a go cause don't get me wrong I'd LOVE to see us sign him! But as I've said before one or two on here need to be a little more self aware of the realities of our position. Both as a club and in the transfer/wages market 👍

06 Jan 2022 18:22:28
This Doherty/Traore thing seems to be gathering momentum. Can`t see the sense in it. Do we really need the Doc back? Is Semedo on his way just as he is establishing himself as a very good signing?

06 Jan 2022 19:47:10
No way should Docherty come back, he wanted to go and failed miserably his time has gone.

06 Jan 2022 21:02:25
Hope the powers that be agree with you Mike!

07 Jan 2022 00:24:36
Athletico supposedly want Semedo to replace Trippier so that may be why we're looking at Doherty (or journos think we are looking at Doherty)

07 Jan 2022 10:53:29
Putting Doherty to one side for a moment, would Semedo leaving be a good move and at what price? Is Hoever ready to step up? If the answer to these questions is yes and we can get the majority of the transfer fee back I might be inclined to go with it. As other posters have said why sign young players and not give them a chance. The downside however is do we have sufficient injury cover?

07 Jan 2022 12:22:09
Arddunby - the majority of the fee?
Given he has improved significantly defensively and is no worse offensively than when he first played for us either you believe we hugely over paid for him or you are happy for the club to be selling him cheap?
Neither says that you think management have/are going to cover (ed) themselves in glory.
Surely as a player who is clealry better than he was when he arrived 2 seasons ago his fee, if we were selling, should have gone up not down?

07 Jan 2022 13:06:38
Future, I suspect fees will be down across the market for the next few windows, did we overpay? that's a matter of opinion, maybe the market will decide that.

07 Jan 2022 13:40:32
Arddunby -V sorry. I was merely stirring. I actually am on record as saying we over paid for him and although he has improved (markedly) I agree we still wouldn't get our money back - that is how much we over paid!
All that being said I still wouldn't sell him as our recent record in the transfer market, (Sa and maybe Marcal excluded), indicates we would almost certainly merely double down on the error and end up buying a far worse player for not much less than we sold Seemdo for.
Not a Jeff fan!
Not as certain as you however that fees at the top level (where Wolves play!) will be down, although of course covid must have had some impact. Not as much as people think though as the vast majority of the money in the top end of the game comes via TV and commercial activities, (not impacted greatly by Covid) not gate money (which of course was decimated for a period by the virus). I accept this isn't true outside the top end of the game particulalrly if you are a lower league team but they don't exactly drive the transfer market.
If prices are down though then we def should be buyers not sellers - see Warren Buffet's first rule of investment!

07 Jan 2022 14:13:27
So the latest rumour is that Atletico are readying a £50m bid for Semedo. Would you sell him for that price and buy Doherty back?

07 Jan 2022 15:07:31
Future. I think we overpaid, and we were buying from a club with serious financial issues also, but I wouldn't like to try to put a valuation on the player, its always easier said online than a real negotiation. Yes we should be buying if prices are down, and you sure have a point about spending money wisely. Not much point if you waste it, better to find an alternative investment. Regards the fees last window I think City overpaid for Grealish and that is probably the current going rate. I also have doubts Spurs will get much more than that for Kane if he leaves.
Judging by the transfer news it seems clubs are interested in loans and swap deals more than usual at the moment.

07 Jan 2022 15:40:13
Jas v good q!
Not sure though that i'd link the two
As I have stated elsewhere on here I'd only take Doherty back on a free/loan and then only for modest wages - i.e. he would have to take a big pay cut or Spurs pay a chunk of them for the rest of his contract.
Although I loved him - unlike many - he is two years on from his glory days and it is a big ask to expect him to come back.
However if the risk was low enough i.e. low wages and no fee then maybe you take a gamble that he, (with Lage's help/coaching), can return to his former self?
Actually I think both issues - gambling on a Doherty return and/or selling Semedo may be linked to Otto's situation.
If he is fit and we are comfortable he will come back to his best, (best defender of all the FBs/WBs discussed here and ok going forward - not as good as Doherty was or Semedo and RAN hint, (but sadly, for various reasons dicussed regularly on here previously, rarely deliver) they might be), then he could be first choice at RWB. Given we have Hoever as cover and have RAN/Marcal on the left we would be better than adequately covered for FBs, WBs.
If money is tight, in reality only Jeff knows the answer to that, then £50m is an awful lot to turn down when we have pressing needs elsewhere that £50m would really help fill. Originally I thought our biggest needs were an ACM and a back up CB sadly now however I believe a new CF to cover/replace/help Jimenez (who it seems needs longer to get back than we had intially hoped) is a further and possibly even more pressing priority. {Of course the longer than expected return time may as discussed on here only recently with respect to Netto may apply to Otto as well!}
Further point worth noting that a Semedo sale would reduce our wage bill markedly - he is a top earner - and give us a huge uplift in our FFP situation as a £50m sale would represent a large profit on his ammortised value!
Net net if we could get £50m then yes I think I would sell and if we could get Doherty on my terms then again i'd love to take the gamble - sadly though I don't see either happening.
What would you do Jas?
Anyone else?

07 Jan 2022 16:47:38
At £50mil I would sell Semedo but want Doc on a free. Bruno might get Doc back to his best for a couple of years. There's no doubt that Bruno has improved Coady, for example, so there would be hope for Doc.

07 Jan 2022 16:58:45
I am if on totally honest not overly worried about Jimenez. His work rate is as good and he's not exactly been overwhelmed by a massive number of chances either taken or missed tbh.

Personally I would give him more time. I know it was a massive injury but was a top quality striker and I still think he can get back to top form. My opinion and hope!

10 Jan 2022 16:40:51
Good debate gents (as always). For me I would go with option c, I mean why does selling Semedo have to equal Docs return?! Personally I'd sell Semedo for £50m on the simple basis we'd never get such an offer for him again (nb in fact I suspect the whole things academic as if honest I can't see anyone offering that for him:)! Whatever us fans might think the whole reason we did what we did with Nelson and Docs was to improve our quality at RB so I'd stick to that programme. Take Athelticos hand off at £50m then take £20-30m and offer it for another quality young RB (Lamptey or Jayden Bogle spring to mind) 👍
