John Stones, out of contract and available, Raul also! Sorry, just woke out of a dream! FWAW.
04 May 2026 09:17:59
Raul would be a great call, but I doubt he would come back. He would probably opt for a top tier team in Italy or Spain. John Stones would not cope with the demands of Championship football, he is too injury prone. No Premier League free agents are jumping off the page. Melier might be an option as a goalkeeper. Darlow is free, but I think he will re-sign for Leeds.
Coventry are in for Barkley, who would be an option otherwise. A small number of free agents will get top tier clubs, so they wouldn't be an option.
Maybe we need to offer those in the final year, with limited game time, a two/three year contract. Will Hughes would be my choice. He has a really positive attitude and is a leader on the pitch.
03 May 2026 23:13:51
That should be an interesting meeting, the inexperienced Shi #2 and the underperforming Edwards.
04 May 2026 08:24:37
Yeah, probably to congratulate him on a good job he's doing.
They won't fire him.
04 May 2026 08:39:30
If they stick with him, like Fraser used to say in Dad's Army, we are doomed.
04 May 2026 08:42:21
Rob Edwards couldn't get a tune out of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
04 May 2026 08:50:27
What's Rob Edwards and Keir Starmer got in common?
They both couldn't organise a piss up in a pub.
03 May 2026 20:43:01
Well, that shock win for Spurs will almost certainly send West Ham down. Personally I wouldn't want Nuno back but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up back up at Wolves.
04 May 2026 08:49:09
What an underperformance from the vile tho noisy? Emery was static and showed little enthusiasm in his body language; his facial expression was one of dissatisfaction and frustration. I began to think maybe he'd been asked to be lenient. But the powers that be wouldn't want Spurs to have any advantage in staying up, would they?
Seriously, Villa we're worse than us, lack lustre, not closing down, misplacing, Spurs on the other hand were up for it, energetic and pressing on every ball.
Re, take note.
Not a great watch as a game.
As for Nuno, it'd be pure romance if he were to return, but I can't see it happening. He'd be hard pressed to achieve what he did before and with Fosun here I don't think he'd relish it.
04 May 2026 10:31:18
Many a true word said in jest,
I've noticed this for ages, it's even in snooker now, watching the tournament from the crucible, seems like everyone wants the chinese players to win
And the shots their opponents have missed, to set them up for a frame,
Well Stevie Wonder could av potted them
Seems everything is pre determined to a certain extent,
03 May 2026 15:32:59
Marc van Bommel for manager? Currently not with a club. Won the Belgian league and cup.
03 May 2026 16:45:55
I'd have anyone who
sets up the team to try and score.
03 May 2026 18:56:56
Let's start by knowing Rob Edwards isn't staying on and a review of the club with regards to going forward made. Plans then laid out so any potential manager will know and can decide to join our project for the coming seasons.
It's been all too hit and miss, promises here, betrayals there, and managers gone, players let go.
Fosun need to treat our club with the respect it needs, and behave as responsible custodians, not owners using our wonderful club as a toy.
It'll be 150 years to look back upon next season, a lot of glories and a lot of darker days, but it should all be celebrated, from the high years of the 50s and the remarkable return from the 80s.
Fosun should be proud owners, sadly they treat us as nothing more than a name tucked in their portfolio cabinet, happy for it to collect dust, be kept in the dark and maybe forgotten.
04 May 2026 08:04:57
I doubt RE is going anywhere, Abbey, as I believe he was brought in specifically for the Championship because if we could see it coming, maybe they could as well.
Many would doubt that, but after our managed decline, broken promises and general BS over the years, it wouldn't surprise me.
04 May 2026 08:52:14
Nor me, Longmind. I was just trying to suggest the order of things before we're banding replacements about.
It's Fosun who need to give us their real intentions for us to think anything else.
03 May 2026 15:31:31
Marc van Bommel for manager? No atm. Won the Belgian & Cup.
03 May 2026 13:01:00
Until we get a footballing person in charge of the football side of the club we are going to continue to make these mistakes. Let Shi run the club but bring in a director of football to run that side. That would include recruitment and development.
Taking a risk is not something that has worked well for us, with the notable exception of Nuno. So we need a chief to oversee the football side. Any number of names come to mind but I look at Southgate.
Get in the plan for how we play going forward and identify the players to play that system. This is a golden opportunity for Fosun to show they care.
They must now realise that they are not doing a great job at the moment.
Secondly, investment is needed and it’s needed now. Development of the stadium is a priority. Increase capacity to 45000 and it will be filled. Latest data shows over 16000 on the season ticket waiting list.
South Bank and Steve Bull need improvement, and get rid of that scaffolding called the GH.
Forward thinking is what we need and Fosun must accept this is no longer a vanity project but a real life football club. This means so much to us all and the frustration is now palpable.
03 May 2026 14:16:42
Nando, you make good points. Is there anyone listening?!
03 May 2026 14:35:25
Fosun will circumnavigate the Director of Football post by suggesting Matt Jackson fulfils that role.
03 May 2026 17:29:52
Couldn't have put it better, Nando, but, as Rugeley says, is the club listening, or is it both fingers in ears, lah, lah, lah, as it's been for some years now.
03 May 2026 17:41:01
Good points, but you are to be reminded that it is Fosun we have as owners.
03 May 2026 09:49:27
Assuming that we have our wishes granted and RE resigns or is payed off, what manager with any sort of pedigree is going to want to come and slug it out in the Championship?
Choices will be few and far between so we could be in a situation where we take a gamble on a foreign coach and we know that has been disastrous in the past.
Any home grown coaches interested and willing, not many I fear, so a difficult season in the Championship beckons where we will struggle unless something changes and we make some smart or lucky decisions.
The close season will be fascinating and will determine our destiny for many seasons to come, so let's hope they get it right.
03 May 2026 11:42:14
I now read that bolts, or 'fittings' as described,
were falling from the SB roof, which explains the large area of empty seats in the bottom corner.
Surely that's the omen to Shi Ii. The Club is in pieces, the grounds are going to pieces. When exactly are Fosun going to take action?
When will their words mean anything to us?
This is a disgraceful situation for such a large company to preside over, and if they are not embarrassed by the situation, then they must sell up, and quick.
Do they really think relegation isn't a problem? Do they have any care, or shame for that matter, in their identity?
More importantly, why do they treat
the fans and people of Wolverhampton with such disregard?
From what they promised to us, overseeing our demise is embarrassing and unforgivable.
03 May 2026 12:46:16
We all know that ultimately Fosun, mainly Jeff Shi, has run this club into the ground. Lage, Lopetegui, GON and VP have all come out and said that the hierarchy (Jeff) is to blame.
With this in mind, I was prepared to give Edwards a chance, but the fact that the team show no attacking intent is not down to the owners.
It is squarely down to Rob. All the other managers at least put out a team that attempted to score goals, even though their longer term plans were being hampered by Fosun. What is Rob's excuse for the style of play?
03 May 2026 13:41:41
Let's be completely honest, it's a shambles from top to bottom. Even just reading the posts above. It's Fosun, it's Edwards, there seems to have been an issue with some metal parts falling from the roof in the SB. The whole structure is completely disjointed. Fosun has got what it wants from us, the 'Wolves brand' for their eSports, which is highly profitable and more predictable than the operation, and constant dipping into their finances involved in running an actual real-life football club. Hate to be negative, but I just don't see any ambition with these owners now, and, with that, how can we attract the right manager, who in turn can attract ambitious players.
There was, or at least seemed to be, a plan under Nuno, but whether they got a 'nose bleed' looking at how much it was going to cost to maintain the momentum and push on from two consecutive 7th placed finishes, who knows. Since then we've slowly but surely slipped down the league and sold off all our best players, and this is the result. A current team of maybe 4-5 PL players, and the rest Championship at best, and yet another manager who seems devoid of ideas.
03 May 2026 17:44:14
One big issue with the club.... Fosun.
03 May 2026 21:26:39
Are they making big profits with e-sports though?
Anybody know the actual figures?
04 May 2026 11:10:49
Just checked this, it is a shade over £10.5 million from 104 tournaments. I think Wolves Esports are ranked 6th in the world. They have received multi million dollar investment, apparently massive in China and growing worldwide. Of course, they have separated this arm of business from the football club, but the esport players happily pose in the Wolves colours trying to look mean.
If that is all Fosun are interested in, would it not be beneficial to Fosun to sell the football, a Wolves FC, to a serious investor who cares and will grow the club. They sort out a licensing deal for the shirt sales in China and then f*** off instead of strangling us to death for the b****** child which is esports.
04 May 2026 18:53:35
Thanks Southbank.
Not exactly earning them
a fortune yet, at least.
03 May 2026 09:09:07
Does anyone know if new Shi was there yesterday?
If so, and he lets this carry on then unfortunately, either he is the same as Shi 1 or Fosun are still in charge of all proceedings.
Made myself watch Rob’s interview. Wish I hadn’t. We should have won, he says. Well yes, against 10 men for most of the game I agree.
The way he talks, though, you would have thought we had created loads of chances, hit the woodwork 100 times.
To be honest I thought Sunderland looked more likely to win the game than us.
If Shi 2 is going to be different then do something now.
03 May 2026 12:21:29
Totally agree, Banksy. Something needs to be done, and done quickly. This guy does not have a clue what to do. If he was in charge of Man City, Haaland would be playing wing back instead of striker.
02 May 2026 21:26:25
I awoke at 5am NZ time to check the football results. 1 all draw with Sunderland, a good result considering our recent performances. Reading further, Sunderland reduced to ten men due to a sending off for hair pulling. I thought Wolves would be all over Sunderland seeking a second goal and possible win. Not to be. A few months ago I was celebrating league wins against Villa, Liverpool and a draw against Arsenal.
I'm not celebrating now. I'm sure some Wolves players have their mind set elsewhere like exiting through the Molineux door. Please take Edwards with you. Despite his passion for the club, I'm not see him being able to take Wolves forward. My only wish in the next three games is to get enough points and finish above Burnley.
03 May 2026 06:34:19
The end to the season can't come quick enough.
A major re-set is needed in the summer, but is it likely?
Minimum goals scored, going forward, we are as exciting as watching paint dry. No creativity, no clinical finishing, no hope.
03 May 2026 10:56:40
Yes Rugeley, a massive reset is needed. It's safe to say that almost all of the players are either monumentally ****, have stinking attitudes, or both.
Tolu was a joke yesterday. £23 million for a player worth half that amount. He'll score a maximum of 15 goals in the Championship, but he'll need every single game, and decent players around him feeding him chance after chance after chance. You can't carry players like that.
Look at the difference between him and Adam Armstrong. Night and day.
One of the biggest changes, though, has to be Rob Edwards. He was a poorly thought out Jeff Shi appointment. His stats don't lie. He now ranks as one of the worst head coaches in Premier League history. The fans have turned against him, and unless he's near flawless in the Championship, he'll never get them back onside.
03 May 2026 12:38:42
Noisy, I think Yu Shi (his proper name. Not even honest about that!) damaged the Club so badly.
From a first great 3 years under Fosun ownership, when they gave full control to Shi, it was the beginning of our decline.
He didn't build funds through inward investment and decent sponsorships as he was supposed to do. His over-seeing of transfers was also a disaster.
How we recover and move forward, God knows!
02 May 2026 21:11:00
I saw Rob at the training ground yesterday and asked him what style he wants to play next season - he said he wants to be high pressing, on the front foot with pace out wide which would be great - the players he has now though can’t do that, can th
ey?
03 May 2026 04:12:16
He's got Jackson Tchatchoua, who is the fastest player in the league. He also has Rodrigo Gomes, who is fast.
The fact is that Edwards doesn't have a clue how to get the best out of the players. Every single one of them has declined since he took over.
03 May 2026 11:44:02
Also, no amount of correct players or system accounts for the goal that Sunderland scored yesterday. That has absolutely nothing to do with the players in the team; that's just piss poor coaching, plain and simple, I'm afraid. How is their CB getting an entirely unchallenged header on the penalty spot? Also, while we are asking, why in the world is the man supposed to be marking him, Pedro Lima, who is almost half the guy's size? None of that is due to the players he's inherited; that's simply due to poor coaching and management, I'm afraid, Simon, no excuses for that.
