So if Mendes comes back and starts bringing his young, budding stable of Portuguese clients, they will be more comfortable with a Portuguese speaker who plays and practices in a way they are familiar with.
This is similar to what they did with Jota and Neves.
Look for a lot of up and coming Portugues players signing.
Your welcome.

Looks like certain people at Wolves and associated with Wolves have been planning on sacking Edwards since the end of last season.

Why let him sit through the fans' forum and suffer the humiliation of at least one fan telling him he's nowhere near good enough to lead Wolves forward?

Why did Nathan Shi let Rob sit through the forum when he knew he was going to sack him? He clearly knew he was going to dump Rob. Why let Rob sit there trying to convince fans he was the right man to take Wolves forward when he knew the whole time he was going to sack him?

Matt Jackson tells Rob his job is safe and then tells him the next day he's sacked.

Did Rob have even the slightest input in convincing Trippier to come to the club? More lies? Why let Rob convince Trippier to come to Wolves when you knew he was getting sacked?

Rob has been treated appallingly; Nathan Shi and whoever else have behaved in a lowdown snake way and humiliated a man who left a club doing well to help a club he loved that was on its arse.

Rob shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, but he should have been given a chance in the Championship. If he was going to be sacked, he should have been sacked after the Burnley game.

**** Fosun. I hope Rob has walked away with plenty of dough, and I hope he gets a decent head coach role somewhere else. Do Fosun or Nathan care that they've potentially seriously damaged Rob Edwards's reputation? Again, **** Fosun. Clueless *****.

Agreed. I wasn't a particular admirer of Edwards, but he has been treated dreadfully.
I would add that Fosun are in the last chance saloon as far as the fanbase are concerned; the apathy must give way to vehement protestations if things don't work out.

The two signings showed intent, but that has been poleaxed with the appointment of a third-rate manager with no experience. They seem to think that they can re-create the 'Nuno' promotion season, but I seriously doubt that, in reality, it will happen.

Well RE's departure is now on the Club's website and the tone of Nathan's accompanying statement seemed to confirm a lack of confidence at the top that he was the right person to take the club in the direction they want it to go.
Harsh as that may be after just 7 months in charge it's encouraging that expectations appear to have been set high and no one is immune from that.
Will the alleged new guy be any better, no idea? But at least the Club have acted to resolve what for many was unacceptable. Has RE simply been scapegoated when the real villain was an appalling window under Jeff Shi last summer? Possibly, but even so the football was pretty turgid most of the time and Wolves appear to be looking beyond the Championship.

For some time now I've described Wolves as a bit of a social club, a nice place to be where we should just be grateful to be in the Premier League, like 17th is good enough. Well apparently no longer so hopefully this news will come as the Club giving notice that failure is not to be shrugged off any longer.

The ambition seems to have been re-kindled after years of decline so I for one have to support that, it would be hypocritical to do otherwise.

Agree with your summary, Long. I am happy that they seem to be acting in a more positive way.
I thought we were in danger of starting the new season playing the same style of football, whatever that was.

Actually, quite impressed that they have reflected on things and made a change. No idea on the new fella. Just hope he plays a positive style and achieves success. We deserve some.

I'm happy that the club have acted and decided to part ways with Edwards, but I am absolutely disgusted in the manner they've gone about it.

The plug should have been pulled immediately after the Burnley game rather than stringing him along.

I doubt they wanted to leave the ship rudderless, Good, so it's probably taken a few weeks to identify and secure a replacement of the type they were looking for. They probably told Mendes to find us someone, as Re will be going at some point.

Rob Edwards should never have been appointed in the first place. If he'd stayed at Boro he may have got them promoted and his stock would be high.
Another costly mistake by the club in paying Boro compensation, and whoever came in at the time wouldn't have had much chance of saving us.
Who knows if Rob could have done well in the Championship with a good transfer window, but I wasn't looking forward to next season at all.

The club have probably made the right decision to part ways with Rob, but as usual have not gone about it in the right way, and it demonstrates how they treat their employees.

Hold on to your hats, folks, the storm has only just begun.

Should have sacked Edwards after the Burnley game. No counter argument can be made. Guy has been treated appallingly. Fosun - and Mendes - are utter snakes.

The World Cup starts. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of national football competition, where the best teams in the World gather to find the very best. Tomorrow we have Canada v Bosnia, how are they amongst the very best? Just more TV rights in those countries.

It is a joke. As was having last World Cup in the Middle East....Where is their great football history? I wonder if it is about money? 🤔

11 Jun 2026 14:23:09
Well, obviously, it wouldn't be much of a tournament with 4 countries.
Canada is rated 30th. How many teams are in the tournament?

1

11 Jun 2026 14:24:04
Why are there so many players in Wimbledon. Shouldn't F1 only have 4 cars?

11 Jun 2026 11:28:47
Well not surprised Re sacked.
Well now new manager's got time to get to know players.
Nathan Shi not messing about.
Complete clear out.
That's what it needed. Let's hope.
Everything works out.
Up the wolves.

All you guys who are sure Andre will be around next season, let this be a wakeup call.

3

11 Jun 2026 14:17:11
There is absolutely no way Andre will be leaving this transfer window, because it would make absolutely no sense for him to have signed a new contract. Edwards was sacked because he was performing below the required standard. It's that simple, to be honest. The two things are entirely unrelated.

11 Jun 2026 14:24:26
Andre signing and photos published, Rob was nowhere to be seen. Trippier medical and signing, Rob was not in the building. Raul medical and signing were done in Mexico without Rob. Pattern emerging, anyone?

11 Jun 2026 14:47:26
If the new coach is a Mendes client, then this may indicate that he is back to dominating the direction and player personnel on the team.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Players sign a new contract so that the selling club can get more money, if a big club comes in and offers them a contract.
This happens all of the time. He got a raise, and if he goes to Spain, Wolves will get double the money.
I hope this makes sense to you.

11 Jun 2026 17:39:56
Haha, OK Handsome, you honestly think after the season we've just had, Matt Jackson would make a large public statement about keeping Andre just to cash in on him when he could have done so without the new contract and no one would have even questioned it? Why would he? So no, that doesn't make sense to me, because it's simply not logical! Don't believe me, then maybe try reading Matt's own words on it:

"Andre has always made it clear he wants to be a part of the club's future and that says everything about his character, and his connection to Wolves and our supporters.

Technical director Matt Jackson added: "We're delighted to have Andre as an integral part of our quest to get back into the Premier League as quickly as possible. It's brilliant that he's bought into the project, it's a brilliant commitment from him, and it shows the intentions around the quality of player that we want to have at the football club.

"He went on record early saying that he had that commitment to stay, and he's a man of his word. It's good timing for him, because he can go into a summer relaxed about his future, and from the club's perspective, to have a player of top quality committing to us in this way is fantastic for everybody.

"From day one of pre-season, we want to have the intention going through the club that we are really serious about this. We want to be the very best that we can be."

Now, I suspect that he has a non-promotion release fee, but that's entirely fair and understandable. I hope this makes sense to you?

What has happened to my club? The way they have handled the manager situation is despicable. Edwards played a big role in Andre Trippier and Jimenez signings. If this is the way we treat people at the club, we deserve everything we get in the future.

11 Jun 2026 12:13:18
I agree, typical Fosun. I do feel for Edwards, he has been treated terribly.

4

11 Jun 2026 14:26:26
I agree that it's poor form, doing it over the phone when it should have been done the day after the season ended.
However, we as fans have absolutely not a clue what has or has not been said to players and why they have chosen to be at the club. It's entirely possible that all those players mentioned above were told this would happen before signing contracts. The players talked up Edwards because that's what you do when you sign for a new club. They are all paid professionals and this is not a first rodeo for any of them, so I can't imagine this being any kind of issue at all.
Yes, it might seem harsh with the way things have played out, but elite sports is harsh and Edwards knows that.

I do think people need to pick a lane here. When Fosun were sleeping at the wheel, we were all regularly on here crying foul and lamenting them for not caring. Whether you agree with the decision or not (only time will decide if it's the right one), not a single one of us can say that Nathan is not wide awake and trying to genuinely change the trajectory of this club now. This decision has cost the club a chunk of change and will not be a decision taken lightly. Like Nathan has said, making hard decisions is his job, and he's absolutely right. So let's give the new manager a chance before judging said hard decision.

I see it's reported that the players aren't very happy learning he's gone.
Dunno if they're missing him, nice guy, his style of football, or the way he's been treated.

Maybe some false promises have emerged.

Who knows. I just hope we can come together as the pack again, and start enjoying games again.

Re has been sacked. It’s a bit of a shock to be hy. I thought he would have been given the opportunity to prove himself in the Championship.
Anyway looks like this lad from Portugal is going to get the job.

I don't agree with how the club went about sacking Edwards, not telling him until he contacted them about the rumours.

It is poorly rated, if true, but the change was needed.

Trippier is worth more than the whole Gil Vicente squad which indicates that our new coach was working with a sub average squad but achieved a reasonable position.
I'm hoping he can continue to up his game with a squad which will be far more capable.

Just praying that he has the presence and personality to manage high profile players and get the best out of them.
Will be interesting times ahead.
