Only another 49 point required for safety from relegation.

Any serious owners and management with ambition of promotion would have acted by now with sales and new recruits.
If players are not good enough, they need to go, sold, loans or whatever, clear them out.
Without a new GK, at least 1 CB, probably 2 (if Santi and Krejci are leaving), an attacking CM and probably 2 wingers, I think mid table is about our level this season.

I was giving Shi 2 the transfer window before deciding if he was an improvement on Shi 1. At the moment it is looking poor, unfortunately. Come on Nathan, get it sorted so we at least look capable of challenging for promotion.

Banksy, I agree with your assessment, but I would add a striker to that list as well. 46 games, plus FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Are Jimenez and Armstrong going to manage? Plus, what if one or both get injured? What happens then? Just look at Rafiki Said, 10mill out for at least 2 months.

Plus, I would give Jordan James a time limit: sign by Friday or deal's off. That gives Wolves a chance to get someone else.

Hi DMac,
I was reading an article stating WHU are looking to hijack that deal. Not sure if it's a reliable source, but if he doesn't want to come, then why bother.

16 Aug 2026 15:15:55
If, and it is a big if, any new players come in, it will be at the very end of the window, and they will most likely be panic buys. This will then give Fosun a ready-made excuse of 'We tried but just couldn't get the deals over the line', as well as 'Because they came in so late in the window, they'll need at least 8 weeks to adapt to their new environment and tactics'.

Let's stop making excuses. Fosun are taking us fans for mugs. If we do have a decent season, it will be 100% credit to Peixoto for changing the tactics, but Fosun have 100% tied one arm behind his back.

11

16 Aug 2026 16:36:11
Both valid posts. 1 game too early to judge?
Every Wolves fan can see Toti is useless. Not only does Peixoto play him, but he makes him captain. Compound this with our best defender (Trippier), who should be captain, getting substituted by arguably the worst player ever signed by the club.

Forget signings. Our two best players, Trips and Raul, have played the least minutes in the last two competitive games.
Excuses on a postcard, but it's clear this manager is a dud and will be gone by Christmas.
I'll take bets on it.

I think I'm the odd one out. I think Wolves could make 3 to 4 new signings. Right winger, CM, striker, plus CH or 2 depending on Krejkci leaving. BlackfordsWolf1, I read the same story. Why would West Ham want him, they are signing Arne Engels for 22milll.

Is he going to play at Wolves? Yes, but it's taking longer. Is he using Wolves to see if anybody else comes in, like a PL club? My answer is no. I would give him till Wed. If he's not going to sign, tell him to look for someone else.

Just saw the match replay right now. Poor game, poor defence. One thing that everybody here can agree with is that Toti Gomes has to go (from the starting XI). We need a new LCB fast if Krejci is also leaving. We won't survive one minute against the likes of West Ham, Middlesbrough with this defence. Trippier was good. Moller Wolfe was decent, but Hugo Bueno got to start. Munesti was ok. Fer Lopez was class; he will be carrying the team. Rodrigo Gomes might not be ready, he should be used as a sub.

A new winger is necessary. Also Mane is not a winger, he plays better down the centre, like an inside forward, maybe he will play better when Hugo Bueno plays.

We also need to change the formation, maybe the old boring 3-4-2-1 will work in the championship. Also Bentley was decent; he is not quality, but you know what you expect from him. But still we need a new gk (Zetterstrom).

Conclusion : Krejci can't be sold, a young new winger on loan, a cb if Krejci is sold, change of formation.

Open to suggestions.

Spot on, Adam.

Fer Lopez looks good with the nomadic role between midfield and wide attacker, with an eye for goal.

As much as I like Mane and Rodrigo Gomes, they can't play in the same 11. Mane tries to be like Fer Lopez, but he doesn't seem to pick the killer ball and attempts shots from distance instead of playing others in on goal. Rodrigo is great from the bench, but has he got 90 minutes in him?

Without Jordan James, Wolves need to develop that box to box midfielder. Before I get shot-down, Marshall Munetsi could become an important element, but the Molineux faithful seem to dismiss him.

Given a decent run and hopefully successful string of games, MM will grow in confidence, as I'm sure many others will after the debacle of last season. 2 or 3 1-0 wins on the trot should be the aim, then reassess. Those wins will require a change of goalkeeper (Sa) and centre defender, hopefully Krejci to replace Toti.

Early days, but the Blackburn game had too many incidents reminiscent of last season, especially during the second half.

16 Aug 2026 15:36:28
I agree with you on Munetsi, as I don't know why so many people don't like a player who seems to give 100% every game. Especially when you compare this to the likes of Mane, who it seemed like couldn't be bothered to track back on Friday, often leaving Wolfe (who didn't cover himself in glory either) 2 v 1. Also, whilst not the most technically gifted, Marshall could be perfect to play with Fer Lopez and Andre, who are both technically very good.

Whilst signing James would be nice, I currently think the flanks, in defence and goalkeeping are bigger issues that need solving first. Munetsi is a box to box player who will work hard every game, so I feel a lot of his criticism is undeserved.

Until Mane starts playing for the team instead of himself, he is more a liability than an asset. He needs to learn when to shoot and when to play a teammate in.

I agree with Wolvo.

Wolves Left With Big Questions After Blackburn

Good, well balanced post!

I honestly can't see us signing anyone between now and deadline day. If that's the case, that will be very disappointing, as we could be competitive with a new goalkeeper, centre-back and box-to-box midfielder. I also think, if that doesn't happen, we will lose a potentially very good manager, in which case a Leicester could be on the cards.

16 Aug 2026 14:48:08
At times during the Blackburn game, Fer Lopez was majestic. He makes the game look so easy. For me, Mane is his cover. Mane is a 10, nothing else. It's painful watching him on the wings because of his lack of pace. Wolfe was going too far forward to allow Mane to play, which then exposes Wolves because Wolfe doesn't have the pace to recover opposition counterattacks. Hugo Bueno has the pace to attack down the flanks, and he can use Mane instead of Mane using Wolfe.

I watched the Boro game, and I've seen enough to know this Wolves team won't finish above them.

It was a frustrating performance last night but I’ve seen some people completely write off Peixoto and this squad already. One game in. You’d hope there’s lots of work still to be done, on and off the pitch. We’ve got 45 games to go, one result won’t define everything.

7

15 Aug 2026 21:30:22
You're right, Simon. Lots of work to be done on and off the pitch.
Unfortunately, it should have been addressed earlier.
Hope this manager won't be gone by Xmas.
Or be hailed as saving us from the drop.

15 Aug 2026 22:52:54
Not sure about writing anyone off but I do think that yesterdays performance needs to be a reality check for the club and fans! Blackburn finished a point above the drop last season, in a league where 3 out of 4 of the teams below them were given point deductions of some kind. In short Blackburn are only in this league through a technicality and let's be honest we struggled to get a draw agaisnt them at home, with our blushes saved by a last minute penalty which probs shouldn't have been given (as in it was outside the box).
The manager needs time so I'm not blaming him but the back line which started last night simply isn't good enough! I am starting to wonder what dirt Toti has on Fosun because how that guy even starts is beyond me?! How he gets to wear the armband in a defence where Kieran Trippier is the only genuinely quality player is nothing but absolute insanity! Did anyone see Trippier with his head in his hands after being subbed, I bet he's already starting to question his decision. Seriously what is it that three managers have seen in Toti to justify him having the armband cause to be blunt all I see is a mid table League One CB! The first goal was entirely his fault, he should have bulldozed his way through to win that header but instead he's nowhere near it. The second gaol whilst not his fault, Wolfe also needs a reality check as defensively he spends far too much of the game ball watching. However, the second goal still only happened because Totis incredibly poor headed clearance! Honestly of the five in the back line last night only Trippier looks like a top 7 Champ player.

The rest look like squad players at best and until we address that all we are doing is setting up yet another manager to fail I'm afraid. Yes there are lots of games left to go, but if we defend that badly agaisnt one of the worst teams in the league then we are currently seasons away from a genuine promotion push.
C'mon Nathan, you were so quick to tell the fans forum that we were going to bring the players we needed in. These next few weeks are going to show the true direction of this new Chairman. Either he gets the players we need across the line or he (sadly) proves exactly what so many of us have long been saying. Which is that Jeff wasn't truly the problem, he was simply the face of the problem. The true problem is an ownership group that has lost all interest and don't really care provided the club is self sustaining and not dragging the Fosun name through the mud. Only a few weeks left and I very much hope I'm wrong but so far this window has been very under whelming. Yes Raul and Trippier are quality players, but two good signings simply isn't even close to being enough for rebuilding a team which came stupidly close to breaking the record for worst team ever in the Prem last season! Words are cheap Nathan, it's time for you and Fosun to put up or shut up! COYW 🐺

Sadly, Simonandlaura's criticism of the Club is spot on.
We have had literally months to prepare for this season, and his point of "there's lots of work still to be done, on and off the pitch" is an understatement!!
With the season started, scrambling around for signings at this stage is gross mismanagement.

Things will hopefully improve, but changes have to happen fast. I don't like to single players out as the problem, but I have to say Totti and Mossie are both a liability at the back. Totti is too slow in possession and doesn't have the footballing brain to be anywhere near a captain's armband; it's a very strange decision. Mossie, for all his endeavour, is a loose cannon and not the type of player we need. I was hoping he would move on in summer; he lacks discipline and at least once a game he is acting like he has been shot by a sniper.

That being said, what choice do we have if Santi and Kreji want to leave? Personally, get rid of them and get some fresh blood in. If Villa want Kreji, 35m and Mings would do me. It's a long way to go and we know it's going to be up and down, so let's hope we get the players we need. Sa should be put back in goal too; Bentley is not commanding enough to add to an already fragile centre of defence.

Good thread.
Agree with the direction of travel - as most on here and the other sites I visit do.

If Jordan James was coming
He would be hear now.
I think it was all crap to be honest.

I have to agree. I was staggered to see there was almost 31,000 for a live game in the second tier. Blind faith and blind optimism spring to mind, but fans' loyalty and devotion are being brutally trashed by Shi and his companions.

Premier League....ur havin a laff...sorry, wer havin a laff.....we wont be any wer near the Premier League for a very long time...not with this side and current owners....simple as that..it really is....at least 17 spot now is 21spot for safety........doomed, I tell you..wer all doomed. 😭

Buxwolf, we are way better than that. I think you're a bit pessimistic. We ain't that bad. I think we'll make top 8 and playoffs.

Borough behind Championship will be a strange league this season. Small sides beating big boys.

15 Aug 2026 18:28:30.
I didn't see the game, so I can't comment about it. But there is some good news that I want to point out.

We are undefeated in our last 4 friendlies & matches. We scored 2 goals again, so averaging 2.5 over those last 4 games.

We got a point 1st game, vs waiting until 6th game last season. We won't be in last place after the end of the first weekend of league matches.

15 Aug 2026 18:52:35
And now the bad news, NJWolf. Sandwell Town have a new song that mentions Wolverhampton and mind the gap.

Time for the 'Old Instrumental' The Liquidator!

1

15 Aug 2026 14:58:28.
I think we should all get behind Pixoto hes a good manager, given a few more signings and wel be up there challenging. We do definitely need a defender if Kreti dont play as Toti is poor.

3

15 Aug 2026 17:08:59
That's the problem, looks like no more signings.

3

15 Aug 2026 13:58:44
First game and already the moaners are out. Couple in the sunbeam talking about 3rd rate goalkeeper, back line of losers and so on. Honestly, why do they even go? It's the first game. 45 more matches to go. Let them settle into their rhythm and go. Give them a chance. Thought a draw was about fair. One point. Now move on. COYW

5

15 Aug 2026 16:29:44
Wolfcall, the moaners are out because the centre-back pairing were poor all last year, and Bentley is not a no.1. Has this manager not watched last year's games?
We moan because we care, and it's frustrating. Let's hope a few new faces arrive soon.

7

15 Aug 2026 17:10:04
Truth hurts.

15 Aug 2026 19:04:25
Starting the new ssn Bentley is without doubt the worst keeper weve ever had. The defence, Yerson and Toti, are 2 of the worst weve ever had as well. We strutted around like we were saying 'look at me. Im a prem player', then got a good kicking and a lucky point. Wide open at the back.

Never look like scoring, just like last ssn. "Bottled the winning feeling," Yerson said. Mustve left the cork out. Blackburn just survived last ssn. Thats how poor we are. Double relegation looms. Simple as that. We are patheticly bad. Without any more new signings with that side, we will go down.
