Better tread careful before and during our return to the EFL, they’re almost making actually playing games pointless, we know there has to be consequences for breaking / bending their rules but surely recently they’ve been taking it too far. The points and sanctions against Sheffield Wednesday were ridiculous and put them in League One, also the points taken from Leicester City relegated them to the same League, they even docked ‘our friends’ down the road a couple of points but decided they could stay in the Championship then they flow this up by throwing Southampton out of the play off final for a misdemeanour which could and should’ve been laughed off, seriously, when did watching the opposition help you to beat them in an upcoming game? I’m sure RE’s been watching our opponents leading up to games, say no more.

Suppose what I’m trying to say is : The biggest losers are the fans, the people who put their money into supporting their teams, the very people who make the EFL Championship arguably the second best League in World football, if anyone needs to be punished for any reason it has to be the individuals responsible l, punishing the Clubs as a whole destroys players careers and contributes to fans turning their backs on the game we love, or used too. The EFL imo need to have a rethink before they ruin the product they’ve got, if they haven’t already. The play off final, which has become a bigger and better spectacle than the FA Cup Final, due to their actions has become a game lot’s of fans won’t bother to watch, a case of shooting yourself in the foot, seems to be increasingly what they’re good at.

Haha, it's not hard to avoid sanctions, Ron, you just have to not cheat! Leicester were given multiple warnings before they were punished. Did they do anything about it? No! Every team has the same set of rules to work from, and they really aren't that hard to follow or interpret, to be honest. Do you know what is putting people off footy more than anything else? For me, it's cheating, the game's rife with it. Also, if you really think it makes no difference to watch the training, then it obviously begs the question as to why they did it for three different matches? One maybe, but three times for no advantage, why take the risk?
I'm guessing you're also hoping that Citeh never get any sanctions for their 115 infringements either then? And why were Juventus sanctioned for a good old fashioned bit of match fixing?
It is hilarious that you seem to think the FA is at fault for applying the clearly set out rules, but you don't seem to blame the people who are actually at fault, i.e.

those running the clubs. Also worth pointing out here that the Southampton players don't seem to actually agree with you, because some of them are currently considering legal action against the club, someone should tell um that it's all the FA's fault for applying the letter of the law. 🤣

Agree Bully's, and I heard this morning that Southampton are giving the manager the boot over it.
The state of football is no bigger than at City, who go unpunished, even tho they've been found guilty by UEFA on some charges and still play on, buy on and laugh at the rest.

If justice is to be levelled, then some serious action should be coming their way, and not just taking their name off titles, which'll mean nothing, or financial, as they'll afford it, it's gotta be big big points or demotion. Maybe not to the Championship next season tho! Lol.

There is a subtle difference between cheating and attempting to compete to break the closed shop.
I would suggest there would be a plethora of cheats at the very top, ensuring that only certain clubs are allowed to feast at the dinner table.

I get what you are saying, QS, but it's not like they just look at your books one week, then just hit you with a deduction the next. They give you warnings year on year, and very much did so at Leicester, but the warnings were consistently ignored! Also worth noting on this that Leicester have the largest wage budget in the league, with an incredible £815k per week! How would it be fair, then, for them to stay up by breaking the rules while the smaller clubs that did follow the rules get relegated in their place because they aren't chucking wages around like it's some sort of crazy cash give away?!
Also, I get what you are both saying about the top teams getting away with it, and I couldn't agree more on that one. But I think that's the basis of the point I was originally making.

Part of the reason I have fallen out of love with footy, and I really have, when it comes to watching it, is because it just feels like the top end of the Prem has become a comp of who can be the most elaborate cheat and get away with it?! It's just gross. Like you say, Abbey, the way City seem immune from any genuine consequences is entirely wrong and points to a system which is entirely flawed! Which, again, like my original point, is precisely why I have no problem with the Champ actually having the guts to sanction clubs. It's the only way to stop the cheating, and until the Prem catches up, the league will continue to be tainted by the scourge of blatant cheating! 🤮

The rules are for everyone and that includes the big boys and their bullyboy accountants and lawyers.

1

22 May 2026 16:49:09
My point was: why should fans be punished for the actions of personnel employed by clubs? Fans haven't broken any rules, and throwing a club out will cause endless legal actions, especially if Boro win. Also, will the PL welcome a club that was knocked out of the play offs and reinstated? If the EFL can't organise their play offs, perhaps only Cov and Ipswich should be promoted, and only Wolves and Burnley get relegated.

That way they could save Spurs and West Ham. Our owners will be well at home in the calamitous world of the EFL.

But, again, Ron, you miss the point, so what's your answer then? Every club should just cheat as much as they want, because we can never do anything that affects the fans?! How's that logical? It's come out now that the manager instructed them to do it, so the club should sack him. No excuses as far as I can see.

Kyle Hurlin with some coaching.
6ft 9 inch striker.
Good height, hard working.
What we need up front.
I think this is what we need. Some tall players in the box.
Everyone said Mane wasn't good enough for 1st team.
But he's done okay.

Hwang apologising to fans for being rubbish and Jose Sa leaving, things I have seen this morning.
Both should have left sometime ago in my opinion.
We need to see action as soon as season is done, not like past seasons where we are linked to everyone and nothing happens until after the season starts.

To have any chance we need players in for pre season, good signings and in early will show signs of change. 🤞

Don't know anything about his stats for the season, but we've got a lad at Hornchurch on loan, Arthur Nasta. I hope Rob at least has a look at the kid.

Why I Think Liverpool’s Issues Start With Slot

Apparently Jose Sa might be leaving! Didn't we know this when Jose was hurriedly waving goodbye to all the fans against Fulham? Hasn't he been trying to leave for the last two years?

Hopefully Wolves can get a few spondulicks for him. The club needs a younger, better keeper, who can play out from the back.

20 May 2026 19:19:45
Gavin Bazunu would be an ideal replacement.

5

20 May 2026 19:32:07
Would be an improvement on Johnstone and Bentley. £10 million for Johnstone. Palace had Wolves' knickers down on that one.

20 May 2026 22:48:20
We got our own back on them when JSL moved.

21 May 2026 00:34:31
The good thing about Southampton having a 4 point deduction is we can't be bottom of the league for at least 2 weeks,
I'll be quite happy in the Championship, as it will only cost $15 a month in NZ as opposed to $40 for the prem on Sky.

5

21 May 2026 09:22:01
I'll be looking forward to seeing a new team playing in the Championship. The Wolves team went stale years ago.

2

21 May 2026 10:09:44
I'm not convinced Bazunu is massively better than what we have, to be honest. Good? He's gone to Stoke with an £8m option to buy him, and they seem to be opting out of that option due to a combination of both his patchy injury record and form whilst on loan! If he was any good, then £8m should be an absolute steal for a young keeper.

The fact they aren't exercising that option would suggest that they don't think he's worth the outlay. And this comes after Southampton replaced him halfway through the season with Bayern's third-choice keeper.

2

21 May 2026 15:28:24
I've got a work colleague who's a Stoke City season ticket holder. He says he's excellent, but just too injury prone. If he could overcome the little niggles, then he'd be worth a shout.

0

21 May 2026 17:56:27
Makes sense, Good. I've never really watched him much, but I know he was rated at City as a youngster. Looking at his injury record, he's not had much luck, including a ruptured Achilles, which is brutal for such a young player! I'm sure he has ability, but not sure we have £8m to risk on an injury-prone Gk?. 👍

Hi all

Unpopular opinion but I think we will recruit well this year and retain more of the players who currently think will leave (some of them won't have options to leave they think).

New GK (Freddie Woodman Liverpool 3rd choice). Build it around a young keeper like Burnley did with Trafford.

Trippier (C).
Convince Santi to stay.
Toti will be great in champ.
Wolfe will stay.

Tommy Doyle - champ experience and forward passes.
New combatative athletic CDM (maybe loan from prem).

Rodrigo - RM.
Mane - LM (inverted like MGW at Forest role).

Armstrong.

off Raul Jimenez (that's the signing that galvenises fans & owners) and whatever wages cost will get back in shirt sales / season ticket renewals.

Keep a blend of experience and youth so squad has options (DOC as homegrown, JRB, Lima but as a RM option not fullback, Bouba, Enzo Gonzalez, Sasa, Edozie,

Sign

Experienced CB on way down - Adam Webster (leader).
Young Fullback.
Experienced CM as insurance policy.
New exciting raw wide player who beats players someone like Chiqinho who we never give a chance to.
Experienced No 2 GK to step in if young GK dips in form.

20 May 2026 17:45:49
Can't see Boubacar Traore or Tommy Doyle being at Wolves next season. Better to cash in asap while their resale value is relatively high. Wolves need an older, more savvy player in the middle of the park, who can possibly step up to the Premier League.

2

20 May 2026 22:50:03
Who do you suggest?

2

21 May 2026 09:25:01
I wish I knew. I do know that Wolves need players in the middle of the park who are not just defensive midfielders. They need players who can drive the team forward. They also need to be quality players who can step up to the Premier League. Boubacar Traore and Tommy Doyle are nowhere near good enough.

7

21 May 2026 12:42:33
Agree, Robert. A couple of strong players, with one being a good leader. Always an ideal position to captain the team.

4

21 May 2026 16:14:27
I agree, Robert. But this has been lacking since Neves and Mouthino went. It is a big hole and difficult to fill.

4

20 May 2026 12:57:17
Good news coming out of Wolves with Rodgigo Gomes and Mane both saying they will be at Wolves next season.

9

20 May 2026 13:36:31
Happy with this DMac. In my opinion, R. Gomes needs to play more. Only problem is his position, maybe better as an out and out winger.

4

20 May 2026 13:37:05
Rodrigo Gomes has to get a shedload of games in the Championship, so it'll be interesting to see what position Rob Edwards has planned for him. Will he compete with an experienced rb, with Lima going out on loan? Or will Rodrigo be used as a winger?

Same as Moller Wolfe.

There is no value in keeping Wolfe if he's going to play second fiddle to Hugo Bueno. Are Wolves planning on selling H Bueno?

3

20 May 2026 13:54:14
Hugo Bueno wants to leave and has no interest in playing in the Championship, according to reports. Banksy51, I would play him as a winger. He's got the pace and skill to beat anyone. To me, Rob Edwards has to build a team around these players.

1

20 May 2026 14:04:41
I suppose that if Edwards is switching to four at the back, it makes sense to prefer Moller Wolfe. He's a rb, and a much better defender than Hugo Bueno.

2

20 May 2026 14:51:40
Don't want players who don't want to be here, so tata H. Bueno.

7

20 May 2026 17:05:41
Agreed, Rated. With Hugo, Wolves should get £25 million, and it's pure profit. He's great going forward, but Moller Wolfe is a better defender. Will Wolves bring in an experienced lb?

Exciting times (possibly!).

4

20 May 2026 18:12:11
Moller_ Wolfe is a left back.

4

20 May 2026 19:16:32
Is he an experienced lb? Is he going to cover the position by himself?

Possibly, Wolves are looking at Trippier, as he can play lb and rb.

3

20 May 2026 21:10:39
That's what he was bought for. He is also usually left back for Norway.

2

20 May 2026 11:22:47
If we can get the likes of Jimenez, Saiss to join our fight to return to the PL, do people think Rob has the ability to change our style of play and make the new team a success?
I am probably not alone but not convinced. Really hope he can turn it around.

Maybe a large influx of experienced players will help. Still would like to see some exciting younger players recruited.
Guess time will tell. 5 - 10 games into new season we need good performances and a high return on points.

2

20 May 2026 09:37:39
No less than 7 ex Wolves players in Portugal's World Cup squad plus Sa and the honoury place for Jota.
How the mighty fall!

3

20 May 2026 11:22:02
How many will be starting for Portugal? How many will be starting Portugal's key games if they progress through the tournament?

When Wolves fans talk about how the mighty have fallen, they should remember the days when the club were nothing but a Championship nonentity.

I'm looking forward to next season. It will be nice to see a team with players who actually want to play for Wolves - several of whom should be from the UK. I'll go back to Molineux just to watch Raul Jimenez.

0

20 May 2026 11:23:55
We could do a lot worse than looking for a few players from there again.

1

20 May 2026 12:58:26
We'll find out in due course, RM, but I feel perfectly free to comment, given that I was a regular home and away in 4th division days, never mind the Championship.

3

20 May 2026 13:45:39
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Wolves fans need some perspective. I've supported Wolves for 40 years and I've never seen a Wolves team more successful than it has been under Fosun.

The club is going through a tough period, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. The perspective is needed because this tough period is Shangri-La compared to all the others I've seen as a Wolves fan.

1

20 May 2026 15:23:52
I admire your optimism, but I cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel just yet.

Yes, Nathan has come out and admitted that the club has got a lot wrong, but anyone can see that.

We all know that the players weren't good enough, but was the master plan to play with no attacking instinct?

We'll see what the summer brings.
