Anyone else heard the rumour about Arouna Kone coming to wolves?

LancashireWolf

1.) 17 Jan 2017 12:50:48
Only what's in the paper, us and QPR linked?

2.) 17 Jan 2017 13:02:55
I saw it to I think he would be a good signing for anyone in the championship let alone us or QPR

3.) 17 Jan 2017 13:28:25
Lancs,

I saw that too. Wouldn't surprise me as we are unloading players and reducing the wage bill. QPR are strapped for cash, we're not We could be at the front of the queue for Kone, bit like a trade deal for the UK with Trump!

4.) 17 Jan 2017 14:21:16
"QPR have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Everton’s Arouna Kone on loan, according to GetWestLondon.

The newspaper understands that Everton want QPR to pay a “sizeable amount” of the striker’s £40,000-a-week wages, which the London club are not prepared to do.

Kone has made just six appearances this season under Ronald Koeman.

Kone suffered a serious knee injury in his first months on Merseyside and has been a bit-part player since for the Toffees.

His best moment for Everton came when he scored a hat trick against Sunderland last season. "

5.) 17 Jan 2017 15:00:11
Great player but very dodgy knee! might be fit to play Championship level, but big risk at 34 now.

6.) 18 Jan 2017 07:57:34
At £40k a week he is dodgy full stop. If he has a dodgy knew guess where the first tackles will go?

10 Nov 2016 10:53:49
Linked with signing Kaputska on loan from Leicester in January, he impressed in the Euros for Poland and Leicester then signed him for 7.5million.

LancashireWolf

1.) 10 Nov 2016 12:37:51
Another winger! Why not?

2.) 10 Nov 2016 15:09:28
I think this would be on the basis we will probably be letting John, Tex and Wallace go in January. However, we still don't need a winger with Costa, Cav, Graham and Zyro here.

3.) 10 Nov 2016 21:45:46
Im not sure about this squad reduction issue - surely we shall get injuries - just look at what that did to us last season (Dicko, Zyro, Graham etc) . Surely we want players competing to make the team. IMO we need 1 v experienced CB, 1 play maker and 1 proven striker. John, Wallace, Seville, Bradon, Evans, Price, Tex prob not needed.

4.) 11 Nov 2016 12:09:17
To my mind, there are at least 12 that wouldn't be missed; EEL, Deslandes, Stearman, Hause or Iorfa, Silvio, Evans, Henry, Price, Saville, Wallace, John and Gladon. And 3 others with severe question marks over their heads; Batth, Teixeira and Cavaliero.

If Lambert can shift the majority of these on and recruit a solid CH pairing, box to box midfielder and proven striker, he will get my seal of approval. Unfortunately it may take ages sculpting his own squad and most people would agree that thinking of promotion this season is rediculous.

5.) 11 Nov 2016 13:22:35
I do agree with u wavidsmith we have got a lot of dead wood and u have pin pointed the positions that need addressing. But he will have to gain success quickly as I don't think Big Jeff and Fosun will be patient.

6.) 11 Nov 2016 14:46:31
I forget to include Mason, too. That's 16, and not one would be missed. Lads in the U18's like Roman and Ennis will be better than most of those, anyway.

7.) 11 Nov 2016 16:25:29
I can't believe people are judging some of the new lads after a few games. We were all screaming for new players and now we've got them you want them out. Makes laugh nothing is instant and if we had a more solid defence and addressed that then we will be fine. A few of the new lads have only played one game typical Wolves foams though.

8.) 11 Nov 2016 19:32:49
May aswell include Ikeme, Doherty, Dicko in that list too then.
Seriously though judging the new players after just a few games get real give them until at least January our defence is the main issue and needs sorting asap.

9.) 11 Nov 2016 20:38:04
I agree about the new players. It's mainly Jackett's old rubbish which needs to go.

10.) 11 Nov 2016 21:10:51
You take Docherty (LB), Iorfa (RB), Williamson (CH), Saiss (MF), Edwards (MF), Costa/ Graham (LW), Cav/ Zyro (RW), Dicko/ Bod (S), and build from there.

We are only a very decent centre half and one driving midfielder away. I don't even think we need another striker, like people keep saying to make a very decent starting 11.

11.) 11 Nov 2016 22:42:49
Personally I think madon and dicko would be a devent pairing up front.

12.) 12 Nov 2016 09:13:28
The fact is we are in the same position as we were under solbakken. A number of overrated foreign players who are alien to this league and the rest are low on confidence and direction. Lambert will need at least 2 windows and a lot of patients to get it right. Hopefully he gets it and the usual suspects don't start calling for his head after a few months.

13.) 12 Nov 2016 17:14:06
Our driving midfielder is Dave Edwards and I don't think we need more strikers either just better game plan to use the ones we have

Those probably are our best players followed by Prince Coady, Mason and Price but will we really see Williamson again?

14.) 12 Nov 2016 23:20:23
We will definitely see Williamson again, and it could save the club a fortune. Him alongside a new fellow would be great. I agree that Dicko, Bodvarsson and Edwards just behind them is a great front line but something is still clearly missing in midfield.

15.) 14 Nov 2016 17:40:22
It's called jack price working alongside Saiss. With the option of either Edwards or Texiara playing at the attacking mid spot and Bod and another striker with Cav plus Dicko on the wings and costa on the bench for extra power?

I think there is definitely some dead wood at Wolves but it's up to the manager who goes. I do think we will say goodbye to Iorfa in the summer if were not promoted.

16.) 15 Nov 2016 18:01:03
We've all got opinions about deadwood, good, bad or indifferent. All I want is PL to get a winning side.
Iorfa, going? He'll be another nbench warmer in the prem but he's one of a few at wolves at the mo who we could actually get a fee for.
Said it before until the spine changes from the one we had 4 years ago we will not progress. Including Ikeme, Batth, Edwards and Dicko. At least 2 need to go as too much influence, simulator to the old bomb squad of Henry, Doyle et al.

10 Aug 2016 09:24:45
We've been linked with Benfica B left back Alexis Scholl, and on Twitter we've been linked with Obafemi Martins.

LancashireWolf

1.) 10 Aug 2016 09:40:54
Martins is 154 years old.
Fact.

2.) 10 Aug 2016 09:43:43
Martins was a really good player about 20 years ago lol

Must be Obafemi Martins Jnr

I'll take any LB right now, has he got 2 CB mates that he can bring with him too.

3.) 10 Aug 2016 09:56:58
Martin's is as old as god's dog now isn't he.!

4.) 10 Aug 2016 09:58:46
Who is this Talisca, and why is everybody so worried about him. I had never heard of him and I expect most of you hadnt either.
Are we just going to be a feeder club for Benfica and Mr Mendes.
I suggest they spend Fosun's money more wisely and buy a defence!

5.) 10 Aug 2016 10:12:55
It is obvious. Go for Balotelli on loan!

6.) 10 Aug 2016 11:16:29
Balotelli is rubbish he's lazy doesn't look interested and has a bad attitude.

7.) 10 Aug 2016 12:21:26
One day Balotelli will look back on his career and realise he might have made a lot of money but wasted his career. Remember when he played for Man City against us. He sulked while he was on the pitch then got himself sent off. Even his team mates and his manager were sick of him that day.

8.) 10 Aug 2016 12:24:55
Our Italian manager might get the best from him.
It would send out a great message of intent as well.

9.) 10 Aug 2016 15:20:36
Apprently martins is 31 years old!

10.) 10 Aug 2016 15:55:33
Yes but martins is a much better version of Dicko and Nartins had amazing form last season so why not.

11.) 10 Aug 2016 22:33:06
Would not want Balotelli he's the biggest plonker ever

Martins 131 not 31 lol fake passport.

03 Aug 2016 12:14:16
We've been linked with a move for Aiden McGeady.

LancashireWolf

1.) 03 Aug 2016 12:32:03
Is this because he hasn't been given a squad number?

2.) 03 Aug 2016 12:50:44
It was on Twitter, not sure if it's true or not.

3.) 03 Aug 2016 12:53:37
Can somebody answer what happened to Cavaleiro? Even his wife said he was coming to Wolves. I thought maybe it was because he maybe playing for Portugal in the Olympics? Would love to know, if anyone can help.

4.) 03 Aug 2016 13:25:38
I think we should put a bid in for Kodija from Bristol City and Charlie Taylor at Leeds.

5.) 03 Aug 2016 13:47:08
I would like to see us sign Kodjia he did very well for Bristol last season but I don't think we will bid for him.

6.) 03 Aug 2016 13:52:59
McGeady would be a decent signing not sure how his fitness is though been injured a lot over last few seasons.

7.) 03 Aug 2016 14:14:44
He has been getting game time at monaco wavid so I reckon he's decided to stay put, looking at his gf I wouldn't imagine swapping the monaco lifestyle for shopping in the mander centre as a good move ;)

8.) 03 Aug 2016 14:57:29
Like him I would have, him.

9.) 03 Aug 2016 14:46:07
Monaco isn'the what it's cracked up to be. Crap beer, hardly any grass etc. Ok the marina is quite smart but we have the cut!

10.) 03 Aug 2016 15:12:43
Mike, if there's no grass then you'll just have to smoke something else.

11.) 03 Aug 2016 15:24:42
Another winger.

12.) 03 Aug 2016 15:35:18
Benfica played lyon last sunday and talisca was not included in the squad, plannet benfica have reported that he will leave in the next couple of day's . article was from 30/ 7
Just wanted to say before takeover we had no ambitions and now anything is possible. not too sure on the new manger but with the new signings having true technical abilities we now have players to help our existing players to aim high and give 100% because now the door behind them is now half open!

2015 - 2016 season with no ambitions
2016 - 2017 season wolves fans with ambitions, dreams, envious baggie fans.

13.) 03 Aug 2016 15:42:06
Fair enough Doncaster!

14.) 03 Aug 2016 17:08:48
Salvio was omitted from the Benfica squad, too. Anything to do with Wolves you reckon?

15.) 03 Aug 2016 17:21:38
Shock horror, we haven't signed anyone today. Shi out! Fosun out! Zenga out!

Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

16.) 03 Aug 2016 17:23:14
What'smoke another winger!

17.) 03 Aug 2016 17:28:13
Envious baggie fans u say. you do know they are going to be taken over by richer chinese billionaires don't u.

18.) 03 Aug 2016 17:35:30
No British signings yet. the clocks ticking Thelwell!

19.) 03 Aug 2016 17:42:43
Demon fosun had the chance to buy tht shower of suite and realised it was a rip off kenyon said to buy us cus much better for the money.

20.) 03 Aug 2016 17:51:03
I don't care how much money you threw at the Baggies, they'd never have glamour, there's not a single cool thing about them, they are not a seed to another Man City. If the richest Chinese is looking to buy the Baggies, it will be for the Chinese market and because they are so naive of Western markets.

Seriously, stripy shirt like out of last century with a blue that's neither here nor there, a thrush as a logo, no stunning heritage, named after an insignificant English provincial area with nothing for people abroad to relate to, no counter culture roots to make them seem edgy, just nothing. They are painfully sensible.

Unlike us, if I was a Baggie I'd be worried about people from abroad buying and what they really intended. Maybe they'll buy them and ship their whole club to China, Sandwell and all?

21.) 03 Aug 2016 17:53:42
I wouldn't hold your breath on that demon my old China.

22.) 03 Aug 2016 17:58:13
Mike Bailey - why are you being rude about one of our best ever players?

23.) 03 Aug 2016 18:02:22
Ulf, I guess you're a marketing guy and know your stuff. Wolves, as a name, has glamour, history and potential. The Chinese know about reviving faded English brands, they can see the intrinsic value in Wolves. They love the name and the old gold and the history. The word on the street is that Fosun looked at WBA last year and rejected the deal.

24.) 03 Aug 2016 18:04:46
Any sane buyer of the baggies (is that a contradiction? ) would likely wait until the season starts before concluding a deal. If they make a poor start and become relegation candidates you can wipe £100m+ from their purchase price. I think they are a very risky £180m investment and Jeremy Peace might be thanking God for parachute payments this time next year!

25.) 03 Aug 2016 18:33:18
re Deep Throat that's ace, Fosun rejected the Baggies :-P I shall ask Jack the Hat about that if he ever resurfaces on E&S.

On the Baggies official forum they have a thread dedicated to us called Dingle Watch, that has been a bit obsessed with, paranoid and depressed about our Fosun take over recently. Maybe they need another thread, for all the people who looked to buy the Baggies and thought, naaa.

I suspect though they and Brum might get bought by Chinese, I suspect all these Chinese buyers are probably in cahoots together and on a Govt project, they'll maybe buy our regions 4 clubs and try and get a 4 way derby thing going like the Northwest have with the Liverpool and Manc clubs, as drama for their home audience.

But certainly the genuinely glamorous ones, Villa and us are now taken. Can't see Baggies as being the big hitter out of the 4, they have the weakest brand potential. Unless Thrushes are highly significant in China, maybe they'll build them a birds nest stadium? I hope they get bought by Chinese, who want them as their brand leader as they're also intending to buy Tesco's. And they'll ban bouncing in the ground as it's somehow anti-communist.

26.) 03 Aug 2016 19:14:12
I assume Jack that you are referring to me being rude about myself? I may be big headed but I agree that I'm one of our best ever players and, apart from Billy Wright, people also say I'm Wolves best ever captain as well as best ever on field motivator (that Danny Baath could learn a thing or two from me about captaincy) . I was known for my barrel chest when playing but, unfortunately, the barrel has moved further south in my more senior years! Hence my current nomenclature!

27.) 04 Aug 2016 10:03:34
Mike Bailey - Your comments do not fit the character.

Jackett has left according to the Birmingham Mail.

LancashireWolf

1.) 21 Jul 2016 12:45:16
That's what the headline says, but when you read the article is just says he's on borrowed time, which is what we all knew anyway. Regardless of what happens we still owe him a lot of thanks for turning us around after relegation, just a shame things stalled last season due to injuries and strange team selections.

2.) 21 Jul 2016 12:50:29
Kenny jackett still in Ireland so not going anywhere till there back from Ireland.

3.) 21 Jul 2016 12:51:18
actually says speculation intensifies not that he has left.

4.) 21 Jul 2016 12:52:56
Whatever Jacketts failures last season, we should thank him for turning us around after 2 relegations, he had to do it without backing from the board and with his hands tied. He did it with good grace and dignity, I wish him good luck in the future and thank him, he has been treated with contempt and abysmally in the last few weeks, Thanks Kenny and goodbye.

5.) 21 Jul 2016 12:53:36
That's a different article pompeywolf.

6.) 21 Jul 2016 12:59:14
Cant find the article saying he is sacked anywhere lancashirewolf, have you got a link to the article?

7.) 21 Jul 2016 13:00:29
The b. ham mail changed their headline after10mins, so which is true.

8.) 21 Jul 2016 13:04:29
The way he selected the team and his tactics last season he treated the fans with contempt. I won't miss him one little bit.

9.) 21 Jul 2016 13:37:21
E&s saying he has 48 hrs before he gets the bullet.

10.) 21 Jul 2016 13:47:13
Lipetegu apparently the new Spain boss although I can't find clarification.

11.) 21 Jul 2016 14:55:01
no they're not. the twitter headline is misleading the whole article

Anyone else heard about how we're the club that wants Forestieri?

LancashireWolf

1.) 14 Aug 2016 22:57:18
This just might be possible, don't forget, zenga is italian, and so is forestieri. could be a brilliant bit of business! we live in hope.

2.) 14 Aug 2016 23:14:20
Forestieri is from Argentina, he comes from the same town as Messi.

3.) 14 Aug 2016 23:54:58
A C, your right that he was born in Argentina but he has chosen to play for Italy.

4.) 15 Aug 2016 13:19:17
Let's set our sights higher.

Moxey denies takeover rumours.

LancashireWolf

1.) 29 Jun 2016 19:36:09
It's a Luke warm denial. Imo there is truth in this and remember the rumour has come from Spain so Moxey will be well annoyed.

2.) 29 Jun 2016 22:10:38
Agree Tamworth its all my Spanish friends are talking about which makes a nice change from Barcelona and Real. And why has Moxey come out so quickly to rebuff the rumour? Smoke and fire that's why.
