Completely unsure if there's anything at all to it, but hearing rumours around us making a bid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Interesting one, he's clearly a talented player, but is it worth the injury risk?

1.) 14 Sep 2020 10:10:44
Great player who plays a variety of positions so in theory really useful but not only is he v injury prone but I would imagine v expensive both in terms of transfer fee and wages?
Guess he could play RWB but more W than B?
Despite what I have said (v negatively and possibly harshly) previously think AMN might be abetter bet younger, more obvious RWB and cheaper both in fees and wages.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 10:28:32
I have to agree mate. AMN. Would be better option if we could get him.
Can't wait for tonight.
3-0 to us Jota, Jimenez, Neves

3.) 14 Sep 2020 13:32:47
I'm more and more in favour of AMN. I bet Coady put in a good word in with him during the England set-up. There's an awful lot to be said for a young capped English player with PL experience and ability. It's always more risky bringing in a player from the Continent or the championship and hoping he can make the step up to the PL.

Hearing talk of a move for Pepe, 23yr old Brazilian winger from Gremio. Unsure why we'd buy a winger unless we're due for departures or it really is the plan to move Adama to RWB.

1.) 04 Sep 2020 21:01:02
Sounds a good player though! Got lots of wingers at wolves. Been thinking callum Wilson would be a good signing for us and a decent back up striker. Villa had £15m bid rejected for him.

2.) 04 Sep 2020 21:56:31
I agree Bully but I think we would have the same problem trying to sign Wilson as we would most good/ established Prem strikers, they know the position is taken! Don't get me wrong he's a good player so would get game time but if he goes to Villa (or most other clubs looking at him) he knows he's there starting no. 9 (and get the shirt to boot) whereas at our place he knows that won't be the case. Well not unless a certain King Raul leaves us that is. Its the same reason Spurs find it hard to get quality back up for Kane, like them if our no 9 is fit he starts 👍.

3.) 04 Sep 2020 21:57:50
Unless Adama is being moved to RWB permanently then I can't see this happening. We're chock full of wingers as it is.

4.) 04 Sep 2020 22:52:51
Problem with Adama Traore playing as a winger, is that we struggle to get him in the game. He doesn’t help matters as he rarely receives the ball on the move. Playing deeper, as a wing back, makes it easier for us to get him involved. Number of touches our wing backs get is significantly higher than touches by our wingers. However, the deeper he plays, the more important his decision making: when to opt for a simple lay off and when to try to run the ball. Last season we saw examples of him trying to run when too deep, which presented opposition with ball in the final third.
Some of his best cameos when he played in a number 10 role. : goals against Man City being good examples. He had good success running at centre backs and skipping past them at ease. Centre backs tend to be less mobile than full backs and don’t often have to face players running directly at them.
Have to give credit where credit is due; he is always willing to learn and doesn’t complain when he is switched between the three roles outlined above.

Sorry folks, killjoy alert. Not posted for a few years but feel obliged because I think we need to be honest about what’s been promised and what we’re getting because there’s a massive gap to be fair. Now don’t get me wrong, Fosuns investment has been awesome but that being said they’ve waxed lyrical about their ambitions and we need to be truthful. Signings haven’t matched. You don’t become an ‘elite’ club by penny pinching on £15M players. You don’t become an elite club whilst dipping in to the same pond (money wise) as the likes of wba and villa whilst being outshone by Everton. I can’t knock Fosun for what they’ve done to date but it’s utter BS to suggest that they’re aiming for us to be a top end club. To do that every player needs to be 35-40M+. They may have had that in mind a couple of years ago but somethings changed. I see people saying this £10M player or this £7M player or this £15M player is great. Great for what? Premier league survival? Mid table safety? Certainly not European football. And definitely not an honours winning team. I’m happy with mid table safety I’d just prefer fosun to be honest within us rather than blowing smoke up our backsides. Hopefully they sign 4 or 5 £40M plus players and stick FFP up their backsides and live with the short term consequences but can’t see it happening.

6.) 05 Sep 2020 04:49:16
Thing is tho we brought Jimenez for 35m wasn’t it? If they believe it’s the right player they’ll do it. The problem we’ve got is mendes has got us plays for well cheaper than we should have. We signed Moutinho for 5m probably should of been closer to 10-15m neves for 15 again should of been a lot higher and others, we’ve kind of got that mindset of he can do that we don’t need to worry. We do need to start picking up players for a lot for more yes but this isn’t a 5 year project it’s 10/ 20 as Jeff said the other day so just have patience I know it’s hard and all but sometimes that’s the way football is.

7.) 05 Sep 2020 06:06:40
There is nothing wrong with buying a player unproven and moulding them to a style of football you want to play that is successful-surely?

I think the problem is not many players want to compete with such a settled first team, they have an attitude or personal problem that would unsettle the squad or they expect to much money for where they are in their career. Or a combination of the 3.

Think of all the young players that have the skill and talent but the incorrect application over the years. And the club have to scout and analysis as much information as possible to make the correct additions for the benefit of the club.

Also paying £40m+ for any player doesn't automatically mean they will be successful. Think how many players have been signed for mega money but not performed. Man Utd over the past 7 years have a Bible of players that haven't cut the mustard. But they have paid the Man Utd premium price for those catalogue of errors.

8.) 05 Sep 2020 07:48:07
Ecosse Wolf.
You have a great understanding of the situation regarding Adama at RWB. Those were my thoughts exactly. Adama does need to be more involved during 90 mins and RWB would certainly do that but like you said his decision making and his tendency to switch off momentarily would be a big concern defensively. Given all the circumstances I think we're in for a tough start but hope Nuno can keep morale up and by Xmas we'll be climbing the table.

9.) 05 Sep 2020 10:56:01
Sorry pressed that to early was supposed to say 'I can't think of a single one since we got to the Prem. Even Cutrone we broke even on'

10.) 05 Sep 2020 10:55:13
Captain- unfortunately fella your post is about 5-10 years to late! No one cane just stick FFP up their backsides these days, some have tried and generally failed! So remind me how would your Grand plan for us to be an elite club go if we get a transfer embargo like Chelsea for a couple of seasons?! Also Matts bang on the money here, what you are basically complaining about is good business?! Rui is COMFORTABLY a £30+m GK we got him for free (OK we paid around £15m as a token gesture after the fact but still)?! How much do you think Raul and Jimenez are now worth or Jonny for that matter?! How much you pay for players shouldn't be how you judge the quality of a signing, just ask Bale or Sanchez! Surely the value in a clubs transfer policy should in fact be almost the exact opposite to what your saying. Answer me this Captain how many players have gone down in value under Fosun and Nuno, how many have we made a loss on?! Cause I can't think of one, even Cutrone went.

11.) 05 Sep 2020 10:56:48
Good comments gentleman, no one getting paranoid because we have yet to buy! Pepe could be interesting, wouldn't that have a work permit issue? Rashica has not moved yet, we were linked with him a while back. I still think it's a pity we didn't sign Oliviera for 5m as back up for Raul. He's older and probably not have a problem with spending time on the bench. Mind let's face it with what's happened this year there are loads of players particularly those with a year left on contracts that clubs may want to move on to get something for them rather than lose them for nothing next year. Couple of weeks from now I'm sure we will have the players we'd like to have. There's never been times like these before, stay positive!

12.) 05 Sep 2020 11:07:45
Haha Raul and Jimenez! Sorry guys fat fingers pressed send before being able to proof read! 🙈🤣.

13.) 05 Sep 2020 11:38:13
Just seen the article on Todibo, now he's our sort of purchase. Talented but needs developed! Our sort of price as well! Fingers crossed, mind you once it's in the press it's often false cos' they need something to print.

14.) 05 Sep 2020 13:10:57
I agree Ken, on both accounts! Would be an excellent signing but sadly as its on news now it requires a truck load of salt to go with it! 👍.

30 Aug 2020 21:10:57
Diogo Dalot just followed Andy Pearce, a guy who finds a lot of players homes in the Midlands. Could be our Doc replacement. Not sure how much to take from this but worth a mention.

1.) 31 Aug 2020 09:08:09
Dalot isn't a bad shout actually ticks a lot of boxes.

2.) 31 Aug 2020 09:52:13
Yeah Portuguese.

3.) 31 Aug 2020 13:17:38
That'll be the main box then.

4.) 31 Aug 2020 16:19:35
Heard it was villa linked with him and a deal was being negotiated.

5.) 31 Aug 2020 16:36:25
I don't know why anyone would go to Aston Villa genuinely! Not trolling but Unless your a championship player. It's a literally roll of the dice with your career if you have premier league aspirations.

6.) 02 Sep 2020 15:30:47
Dalot would be a good signing but like everything else just rumor's M. D departure has taken us all by surprise and has left a massive void to fill. Another midfielder and a quality striker should also be brought in. Just hope its not ones for the future we need first team players now.

Think a lot of this Telles hype has been stirred up out of nowhere to be honest. His agent is traveling to the UK and people have put 2 and 2 together after all of our current deals with Porto. Would be an incredible signing, but I think we'll just get Esteves if we aren't beaten to it by Valencia.

1.) 08 Sep 2020 16:16:26
I have to agree with SQ on this one (jez that's twice in a week:)! Simply because the three we've signed none of us even mentioned! I've come to realise like others that if there names being kicked about before then we probs aren't getting um! Hope I'm wrong cause personally I still REALLY want AMN! 👍.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 16:49:53
Well it's getting close to 6pm, rabbit out of hat time!

I've heard that when Foden and Greenwood flew into Manchester Airport Kyle Walker had arranged for a few of his friends to meet them so they wouldn't be lonely when they go into isolation again! 😂.

3.) 08 Sep 2020 18:27:39
Ken joking aside I hope our team discipline is better than what we have seen at other clubs and England I think Nuno will be strict about this and ban them from all Compton night life 😁.

4.) 08 Sep 2020 19:05:05
WindowWolf let's hope so. The need to be aware of that den of iniquity! I'm sure Nuno will be on it! Some of the young don't seem to get it sadly. Delighted that Conor has a start tonight very much deserved. Hope it goes really well for him!

5.) 08 Sep 2020 19:40:59
I think that Greenwood and Foden need to be quarateened by their clubs. They have obviously gone outside of the "protective bubble" and hence England sent them home. Surely it's only sensible that until they have tested negative 2 or 3 times over a 2 week period then they should not put those who haven't been complete tw@ts, at risk. Maybe the FA should step in and ban them for two weeks.

06 Sep 2020 23:53:43
Purely speculation, but judging by Fabio Silva's instagram he's been given the number 17, which is MGWs number if I remember right. Probably nothing but makes me question If Morgan is part of the plan.

1.) 07 Sep 2020 08:36:19
He's out on loan for the season. Not sure how he feels about his old Wolves number being reallocated. Gives the signal he's not wanted I suppose.

03 Sep 2020 13:59:50
Uh oh. PL television rights revoked in China due to non payment. Let's hope someone gets In and buys them quickly.

1.) 03 Sep 2020 15:47:00
Let's face it we're sunk.

2.) 03 Sep 2020 16:36:41
Do you not read stuff before you post SQ? They've lost the rights because they didn't pay. The rights are for China only and it's very popular and valuable! The rights will be sold to another Chinese broadcaster who can pay! Got it?

3.) 03 Sep 2020 20:36:30
SQ must actually mean STUPID QUESTIONS as that's we seem to get from his/ her Posts.
Or Negativity
Or Doom and Gloom.

4.) 04 Sep 2020 08:09:44
Ha ha.

Funny SQ I get a completely different R word come to mind when I read your posts. Why come here just to spout endless negative, pessimistic crap? Seems pointless to me, unless you just like attention?

Think Spiers put up an update the other day that Boly's contract actually runs until 2023 👍.
