Yeah, Ghislain Konan.

Radical idea!
The James deal showed what could have been done and several equally good opportunities were lost to rivals - especially Boro, (Lankshear, Vitek, ACD and Phillips), who used their also limited finances, the Hayden and Rogers money, far, far better than Wolves.
With the benefit of hindsight - and many of you may think this is a totally unacceptable idea - should Wolves have targeted/spent the fees and wages on the young HG talents like James that were discussed at length on the Forum rather than Said and Jimenez?
It would have been a gamble not to take Raul when he was available, as the young HG talent may not have been obtainable in any case and Raul would have probably been gone by then.

However, as I say, with the benefit of hindsight and from an albeit very small sample size this looks like it might have been a better idea!
Thoughts?

I genuinely don't think clubs were interested in the players left at the club. Not an excuse, but all our CBs are awful in my opinion.

I think the players need to take responsibility for the view people have of them after last season, and fight and play for the Wolves.

This is the reason the squad overhaul never happened and the reason a more diplomatic and pragmatic coach was brought in. With a tactical shape and style. It's not the finished article by any means, and it's still in its early days. Last night reminded me quite a lot of the Cardiff defeat in Nuno's promotion season. Cesar's Wolves played far better last night, but anti football wasn't the tactic used against us like Warnock's Bluebirds. Last night we were punished for losing our shape, or not controlling the situation when defending. That's something, as a team, they need to take on board and learn quickly. But all 4 goals were avoidable, and two, the Mukasa ones, were very fortunate.

I think we lack pace at CB and wide forwards. But I do think the squad is pretty strong for the Championship. Yes, I wanted a squad that was like Nuno's pioneering Wolves of 2018 that all knew what they were doing.

But maybe the game has changed the last 5 years, from our counter-attack style to possession, to now pressing and being more fluid. While we are struggling to adjust to this style, many other clubs are as well. Pretty much all the bottom half of the prem can't play that style either.

Our issue was we sold pace and experience from our squad the past 18 months, with Cunha, Neto, RAN, Sarabia and Semedo leaving.

I think Raul and Trippier will be useful over the season. But we need to encourage the youngsters to keep their heads up and take players on. They are well thought of, the likes of Mane, R Gomes, Lopez, Chirewa and Neave, so we need to stick by them. There are a few games where our support may be tested before the international break. Plus we signed Said and Adriano; both look like exciting prospects, as well as they want to take players on and be a bit more exciting.

I think the team is more balanced than the last couple of years, without the sparkle of an exciting forward or a completely domineering CB with pace.

It's all about consistency. Can this squad be consistent?

Frustration and passion after a defeat is a good sign after last night.

Sean Neave, welcome to Wolves.
I am all for giving younger players a chance, but he is, in my opinion, not the build for a striker, but perhaps he will prove me wrong.
He will need to toughen up.
Let's wait & see.
Best of luck.

Was Vardy? He was non league material too.

According to Sky Sports News, Neave deal done and will be reported later today. As for the LB, he's a free agent and can sign any time.

Did we sign that Newcastle striker Neve?

So I'm sure Nathan Shi said that the club had 8 months (since November 2025) to prepare for the Championship and that players had been identified and talks were ongoing so that the Head Coach had the best chance to win promotion.

Now I know that Raul and Trippier are excellent players but where are the others that the club had 8 months to identify? If this is the best that the scouting and recruitment team can do - a Comoros international, a loan player and 2 keepers who are unlikely to play, then what the he'll are they doing? Where are the longervterm signings that will take this club forward and be the heartbeat of the squad?

Jorden James.

Jordan James is on a season-long loan with an option to buy, not an obligation to buy. Until that option is taken up, I wouldn't class him as a long-term investment, a bit like the Angel Gomes deal.

imo, JJ will impress and be signed. I expect him to start alongside Fer Lopez in the near future. It seemed he & Fer Lopez had a good connection in the 2nd half once he was subbed in.

Maybe I'm being cynical, but if Wolves do exercise the option to sign Jordan James for the agreed fee, no doubt that Fosun will sell him for a profit within the same or the very next transfer window.

They've proved this summer that any overhaul is to be done on the cheap. Anyone that can be sold for a decent profit will be. We can all see that we needed another striker in case Armstrong or Raul get injured.

So, what do the club do? Loan in an unproven 19 year old who they rate highly, but there is no option to purchase should he impress. So, if he does well, Newcastle are quids in. Surely there were strikers available with a proven track record at this level who we could have signed.

I think it's more because no club wanted to sign the Wolves players from last season, Goodwhileitlasted1.

I've said numerous times we should be aiming for two young cbs and two or three forwards with pace, along with technical ability.

But on paper our squad is very strong:

Sa
Trippier, S Bueno, Krejci, H Bueno
JJ, Andre
R Gomes, Lopez, Mane
Raul

I have my concerns over consistency, but the biggest bleeds on the squad have been moved on in Hwang, Tolu, Wolfe, Hoever and Johnstone.

We have arguably kept the better cbs from last season, and better forwards in Mane and R Gomes.

We have also brought in experience in Raul and Trippier, along with two exciting young players in JJ and Lopes.

We have to get behind them, although there will be big changes if we go up.

Wolves set to sign Ghislain Konan and Sean Neave as their two late additions.

Both players likely to be unveiled tomorrow if all goes well.

Liam Keen.

I thought the loan window closed at the same time as the transfer window.

Konan can be signed as he is a free agent.
Unless the paperwork was signed before the deadline, Neave isn't coming in. The transfer window, including loan moves between clubs, closed at 11pm yesterday.

I'll believe it when it's officially announced. No one else seems to be reporting it yet.

You were saying, Goodwhileitlasted?

I stand corrected. But, I still think Fosun are taking us fans for mugs. Just my opinion.

Wolves set to sign Ivory Coast international free agent Ghislain Konan.

Left-back worked with Cesar Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season & will be the replacement for David Moller Wolfe.

Rumours circulating that the Sean Neave loan deal was not completed in time. Anyone got any news on this?

0

01 Sep 2026 22:42:06
Nothing else happening today. Neave will join on loan, no option to buy.

Harry Amass staying at United. Wolves are looking at Ghislain Konan. Left back, knows Peixoto from last season at Gil Vicente, played at World Cup, and is a free agent.

When's the Amario Cozier-Duberry signing you were so confident about going to be announced?

In Middlesboro!

I can't believe that some fans actually thought Fosun were going to sign players.

Mean while Ballard scored his second for Bristol. This is what's so frustrating, they didn't need to spend silly money they just needed to be sensible. Ballard went for around £4m, he's an ex Arsenal academy player who has represented England throughout and couldn't have been needing a big wage as Bristol don't give those. In short he would have been the perfect back up for us up front, whilst being well within budget. Instead we sign a Newcastle academy player, with no real first team experience who is on loan and therefore just building his value for another club.

It's the complete stupidity that Fosun approach these windows with again and again which kills me! As for Nathan Shi/Matt Jackson how dare you sit there in the fans forum and openly lie to us? Your both a disgrace and if we fail this season trust me you will see how these fans truly feel. Just stop pissing on our legs whilst telling us it's raining! 🤬

Good while it last, calm down, buddy.

I'm calm, buddy. But you did spend a long time on this rumour.

Alright, my fault. I just think he's a great player, and we missed out on a bargain. My bad if I annoyed you. COYW!

There is a verbal agreement for Hwang to join Schalke.

Final negotiations between S04 and #Wolves are ongoing.
