Wombourneron and others of similar age can you enlighten me on birmingham city and the fairs cup I googled and it says they were runners up but bluenoses at work saying they won and beat barcelona. this is all I hear at work off them 1st british side to win in europe. what was the feeling of the fairs cup back then?

1.) 18 Oct 2017 09:28:08
Chelsea didn't have that hi crowds till abrovich took over so your point is?
Go back to sandwell and support a really small club.

2.) 18 Oct 2017 09:45:35
Can't see your point of your post jet ski,?
I can't see anything to realise every fan there satd teatime were out of this world wolves ay we!

3.) 18 Oct 2017 09:49:22
Just googled it Philip, blues runners twice 60 and 61.

4.) 18 Oct 2017 09:51:21
They lost one final 4-1 to Barcelona.

5.) 18 Oct 2017 10:22:36
Blues lost second final 4-2 to Roma over two legs.

6.) 18 Oct 2017 12:03:25
they beat Espanyol 1-0 (Bertie Auld) but lost 5 -2 in Spain - December 61 I think. If you want to brag Wolves knocked Juventus out 10 years later - that was a big deal at the time.

7.) 18 Oct 2017 18:21:02
23 Oct 1957 Fairs Cup SF1 Birmingham 4 Barcelona 3.
13 Nov 1957 Fairs Cup SF2 Barcelona 1 Birmingham 0. (Agg 4-4)
26 Nov 1957 Fairs Cup SF Replay on neutral ground -
Barcelona 2 Birmingham 1. Birmingham eliminated.

To blues fans you also forget we got to UEFA final in 74.

9.) 19 Oct 2017 15:23:19
We got to the UEFA Cup Final in 1971-72.
1974 was the League Cup Final.

10.) 19 Oct 2017 21:01:35
Oh yea sorry.

17 Oct 2017 15:15:12
I grew up listening to my late father telling me story's of the great wolves team in the 50's heyday respect to all you old uns who are still here today to tell us young uns the tales of the great 50's team. hope I live longer than my father did so I can pass on tales of the sherpa van trophy win in 88 and steve bull lol bring on preston stuff the blues vile and the baggies. FWAW.

1.) 17 Oct 2017 18:10:03
So many memories Phillip. My first floodlit game was when we beat Real Madrid 3-2 with 55000 there. I was 12 then and went to the match on my own in the south bank. Always remember that if we lost I would run home (about 2 mile) crying all the way. Love `em as much now and only get emotional after a big win!

16 Oct 2017 09:33:51
No one talking to me again at work top of the league best goal difference best manager best owners best fansπŸ˜€πŸ˜€ even the pessimistic fans about not signing a out and out goal scoring striker are now optimistic. to bluenoses 15 points more than yow can't see us losing 5 games the rest of the season cus wim seriously better (richer harry enfeild) than yow! FWAW.

1.) 16 Oct 2017 10:16:02
Don't forget we have the division's top scorer too.

2.) 16 Oct 2017 11:39:13
Jota is joint top scorer with 7goals bonatini not far behind with 5 between the 2 they have scored 12 twice as many as dicko and bodvarsan managed all last season.

3.) 16 Oct 2017 12:48:13
Yes, calls for a 20-goal CF become less important when both these two are on course to do exactly that - and Wolves on course for just under 100 points!

(99.6 points - I just worked it out)

Bonatini has been a revelation. Watching his goal vs Villa again and again, his position play and his ball control outstanding.

4.) 16 Oct 2017 13:31:33
Agree 100% euroman bonatini could yet be the signing of the season i'm pretty sure he will cost less than jota that imo the reason he could be the signing of the season. he is always there in the box to knock the ball in the net. yes I have watched bonatini's goal over and over again too.
Lol the villa fan at work said there was a statute left at molyneux satd night it was john terry on the edge of the boxπŸ‘βš½.

5.) 16 Oct 2017 17:14:07
No complaints from me! Been going to the Mol` 60+ yrs. Great then, great now. Strikers are great. HOWEVER, I think a top striker in Jan would make sense as an "insurance" policy in case the unthinkable happened to one of them.

6.) 16 Oct 2017 16:51:14
Sky reporting Hugill to leave Preston in January Wolves bound.

7.) 16 Oct 2017 19:30:41
I love the way Bonatini plays he is a class act but he is unlikely to be able to play every game until the end of the season. Bright isn't up to it yet (loan him out) - get someone in for Jan. No to Hugill - yes to Nelson Olivera. Nuno could get the best out of him.

8.) 17 Oct 2017 08:55:39
Spot on wombourneron I think whoever we sign the striker will be a good signing if its hugill nuno would of seen something in him that fits him in exactly to how he wants a striker to play in his team. it doesn't bother me who we sign all I know is nuno and wolves will make the right signing. imo all we need is like you say cover for bonatini. I can't see where else we need cover. prince played for under 23's is he in shop window for january? or is in nuno's mind to comeback in the 1st team fold?

9.) 17 Oct 2017 14:17:57
Watching John Terry doing nothing while Wolves' front line was closing in then scoring was especially entertaining, Philip.

13 Oct 2017 08:25:00
Nuno pork&cheese as my bluenose boss calls him going agaisnt the grain I really really want cardiff to hit um for 6.1 good thing my boss given me satd morning off 2days yes 2whole days away from the dungeon of doom and gloom.

I like ings and agree on above comments if he is fit in january we could get him on loan for 2nd half of this season. I like that striker from porto we wete interested in in august excuse spelling abhkour. I think also we get promoted fosun will buy someone like ings and another stellar signing 30 40 million pound player.

Wolves011 he looks nifty very good looks like he knows where the back of the net is and has all round game. I would be v. happy 4us to sign him. a lot better than dicko and the bod. these type of players are the ones that get you on the edge of your seat something we have lacked for long time everything changed with fosun takeover.

Imo saiss last season was ruined by bad management I could see his heart was not in it destroyed by the woeful lambert he was great at making passes to the opposition. as soon as lanbert was out and nuno in I thought come on saiss show us what you're really made of and he has more than I could of ever of imagined. mcdonald good top championship player at best imo once his heart is not in wolves he's a at best average player.

Fairplay wolvescoast I get where you coming from nowπŸ‘i think time will tell whether we get promoted building a team for the top flight or a team to get promoted maybe a mixture of the two. one thing for sure we're up there to be shot at now bring on preston ay can't wait for satd πŸ‘πŸ˜€βš½.

Wolvescoast I agree with what you say when top strengthen but your comments about must get quality leftback attacking midfeilder came across as very negative to me douglas vinagre both have excelled and it imo disrespectfull to them to get in another left back. the squad is nearly perfect 1 striker for cover for bonatini is all we need. ffp has to be adherred to. after a great win your timing couldn't of been worse to voice your opinions about the weakness of our squad. also we have quality championship players out on loan everything is covered except for bonatini.
