Just watched the Lopetegui interview with Guillem Balague.

In short:

The squad was too big and needed culling.
He had a plan A but this had to change to plan B.

Plan B was shelved as the club has no money available to buy players.

The plan is for the youngster to be used but in his own words, these youngsters are not ready.

Sasa should not be put under too much pressure as he's recovering from a major injury and needs time to get back into the swing of things. In other words, he's not ready.

It looks like only free transfers or players available at very low prices are coming in.

Lopetegui said he ideally wanted new players in but this is not possible so he has challenged the players at the club to improve.

To be honest, the interview seemed to suggest that financially, the club is doomed.

Jas M if that's true then where did the 20 mill bid come from for Scott as sky even said something is not right.

Personally I didn't believe anything written or said by the media as they don't usually have close enough contacts to be 100% correct, however this interview took place earlier today and Lopetegui was asked outright if players were coming in and he's said no as there is no money. All he can do is train the players to be better.

I still have faith in Lopetegui as he has 18 quality players at the club but if Podence and Jonny go, as we haven't got the money to buy better players, have we got what we need in the U21s or U18s. Marques possibly but is the step up too big for Tipton, Kandola, Fraser and Griffiths etc.

Time will tell and hopefully the club will find the money for some experienced players.

If that's the case then Fosun need to crack on and develope the stadium to get more ticket revenue in.

In my opinion Lopetegui will walk soon after fixtures commence if early results are not positive, who could blame him.
He desperately needs support from the board as well as the fans, however the former is clearly not going happen.
Relegation looms as clearly the board is preparing for that eventuality.
The afore mentioned interview with Balague is a cry for help.

Doesnt help that we wasted over 100mil on players which now holds against us in ffp.silva guedes cunha sasa nunes.none of which have shone for us.j lop could possibly be the best manager wev ever had and now we can't back him.no matter how hood a coach you are if uv only got monkeys to work with thers only so many tricks you can teach them comparitively speaking ofcourse.i expect us to be this ssns leicester and j lop 2walk anytime soon!

I will not be surprised to hear the that Lopetegui will be leaving our club, I watched the interview and he sounded very despondent and it is now obvious that Fosun are no longer interested in Wolves. The squad we have at the mount will not keep us in the prem, let's hope we can get some decent free transfers in or Saudi Arabia come and buy or club.

Bit unfair on Sasa tbf that was down to our former medical staff clearing him to play when he wasn't ready.

What bothers me is Lopie seems to have very little say on who is bought and who is sold. And yet he's expected to form a team which can work as a team. You can't through any great or good player into a team and expect they'll play well together. The manager must be able to have some control on the players bought and sold.

Worrying indeed. I still can't believe that JL was sold a dummy on this, if he has been then the club will be trusted by no one. How could we function? Fosun maybe readying the business for departure, I can't see they'd want relegation and I can't see this group of players going that way. JL might be being open, he might be trying to force fosuns arm. Whatever going on its upsetting.

Something just isn't right at the club. I mean where has the money gone?

I am no expert in football finances but I do understand the basics and doing some simple maths, something is amiss.

Just for arguments sake:

The 3 year rolling FFP period covers: 20/21, 21/22 and 22/23 seasons. Wolves submit the accounts on 31st May each year so the latest period runs from 1st June 2020 until 31st May 2023.

Income: Prize/TV money over this period is approx £375m
Gate receipts approx £10m
Merchandise approx £3m
Sold players:£175m
Total: £563m

Outgoings: Transfers: £303m
Wages £210m
Travel etc: £30m
Total: £543m

Obviously there are other incomings and outgoings but how can we be so far in debt that we now cannot afford to buy players.

As I said, we don't know the full story.

I would also ask Jas who has been historically informing transfers. When we signed both Fabio and Guedes we did so with no other club chasing the yet we seem to pay about double there actual value was?! Who else would have paid £30+m for either of um and what was Gestufutes/Fosun kick back on the deals?! Like you say I am starting to wonder who has been benefiting from such deals cause it certainly isn't our club! ?

Also Jas M under the covid period 20/21 and part of 21/22 the rules were changed and you could write off a large chunk of losses (did here that Arsenal could of written off 60% of the loss). On the wages for the players etc one reliable site had our wage bill at circa £80 million for the season. Something is not right as you say, also didn't the club have a £99 million pound "loan" from the government to help with cash flow.

Fosun either need to put up or sell but for sure the value of the club will be a hell of a lot lower at Championship level so false economy trying to do it on the cheap because relegation will wipe off the last 6 years of being in prem league.

Lastly charging fans more for season tickets and match day entrance only to be served up a inferior product on show. The 2 home games fans need to get together to protest (we are the new Newcastle with owners who try it on the cheap). These games have no points on them so an ideal time to do it.

I watched most of the second half and was not impressed with our performance against a team that would do well to survive in the Championship.
We defended well as we did last season, Silva showed a few nice touches but generally we did nothing in their box.
If we play like that next season we are doomed.

Jas another income is sponsorship, what astropay pay? What was the keep the profits deal with castore on shirts etc. Or is that included in the merchandise figure?. Whatever nothing seems to add up.

I'm usually fairly relaxed during transfer windows - but I have to say I'm worried now. Concerned that JLo was brought in to keep us up at all costs, without out any real thought about what happened next. I think we are now in a "rob Peter to pat Paul" situation. There is little doubt that JLo has the ability to mold the talent in the squad we have into a team that can stay up.but I don't think that was the deal that was sold to him. I think we are at a cusp where we have to choose between being perennial survivors through clever movement in the transfer windows (in which case JLo will be replaced) or there is significant further investment. If it's the latter, great, but I'm guessing we will still lose JLo if he is not willing to hang around until this is possible.

I think fans we forget that the players value decreases each year and the financial stronghold that keeping players on European football wages has.
I don't think we are in a financial mess this is smart business management. We need to cull the expensive players that haven't gave us anything for two years.
I believe the club has a plan. I'd rather see Alex Scott link up with Silva and Neto this season than Adam Traore again giving me neck ache watching his crosses or Raul not be able to score.
Time waits for no one and the club are right to move with the times in a sensible manner.

Madman, just watch the interview. If you can figure out the plan, you're a better person than Lopetegui who is clear that there is no money available.

Iam not worried we just need striker which will come Adama will sign new contract .he would of gone by now . that's what I think let's just sit back and see if that striker comes Adama signs .but let's get behind our team they need our full surport .Everton man city will be punished their in worse position than us.yes their saying we got servere ffp problems.myself they should have some balls and say how bad were lying.we deserve at least that
