There is talk of late move for Babosa* (could be spelt wrong ) striker from Brazil . Never heard of him but I feel we are missing a poacher type the current crop just do not seem to be cutting it with our 12 goals

Linked with him in the summer.

Is this the Flamengo player that West Ham were linked to last year with a loan to buy offer?

Sorry it was a old rumour that has been re posted from the summer . Still we do need a forward . Sepe Wahi gesifute client 10 goals this season plays in France for Montpellier Is another rumour .

Thanks Graham. Captain Barbosa is now in Davy Jones locker last time I saw him.

The currect crop aren't cutting it, Graham, that's true but I hope that you are not including our January window acquisitions within that collective description because they've only just got off the plane (or motorway in Dawson's case). For the umpteenth time it needs to be stated that we are not scoring because we are not creating not because we haven't the players to put chances away. Cunha,Sarabia and Podence will all score when they have potential assists coming their way and Dawson may also weigh in given his decent set piece record. We don't therefore need a poacher type but that's not saying that more squad depth wouldn't be welcome. Hard to see it in this window though given the business that has already been done.

Old wolf . Sorry I disagree . A Chris wood would of suited us . Hanging out hats on Dawson to score is and will be mental . Cunha is a second striker like a Felix . Himinez and Costa are what they call spent . Himinez playing like a winger, hwang a winger, podence a winger . We just need that big target man in the middle . I'm sure we will target a forward in last days of this window hopefully we are more successful than in previous deadline days .

Regards Graham

29 Jan 2023 07:14:44
We've signed players but still some are happy to write us off before Dawson and Gomes have even played, Sarabia has been given 45 minutes and Lemina about the same. Cunha will come good. So to say we ain't scoring or looking likely to score cannot be based on fact as none of us have actually seen this team play. Wouldn't it be funny if all 6 of the new signings played next week and we won 6-0. What would you complain about then? Probably that the signings to be made in summer 2023 ain't good enough.

8.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 07:44:52
I agree Graham, we need that focus up front, a player who will give the others someone to get the ball to and form a partnership with Cunha.

Dougan/Richards and Jimenez/Jota sort of relationship. Without that it could just be a 'pass around the box fest' again with no one taking responsibility.

As some have pointed out we don't yet know how effective the new boys will be, so to rely purely on their stats from different leagues may be a risk. Having said that Cunhas assist stats were off the dial and so far he's lived up to those.

Like others I do believe/hope that JL's recruits are more suited to the Prem than some of our previous recruits. If a new striker doesn't happen I hope this 'new midfield' can keep Jimenez where he needs to be to rebuild his goal scoring form.

29 Jan 2023 08:03:20
No need to be sorry,Graham. It would be boring if we all thought the same. If you check back through recent posts you will see that the Cunha debate has been fully discussed and to my mind he is very much a principal not 'second 'striker. It would be mad to hang our hats out for any one person to score the goals that are required. My point about Dawson was that he will add much needed aerial threat at set pieces aswell as provide the experience needed in central defence. Given the squad Lopetegui is assembling it's difficult to see the sort of two up top formation that you seem to be suggesting. Mobility across what is likely to be a front three will be key.
Finally, well said Jas.

10.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 09:46:02
@Old Wulf - isn't Nate Collins 6' 4" and Kilman is the same height also. (Dawson is 6' 2") So there's always been height available in the box from set pieces. Maybe this is something that could be worked on?

11.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 09:57:10
I'm not getting involved in this debate.
We still don't have enough in a creative player and we still don't have a goal scorer.
Fingers crossed Sarabia and Cunha cut the mustard.

12.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 10:18:34
Barbosa plays for Flamengo valued at €20m played 3 and scored 3 team mate of you know who.
Dawson will bring experience and controlled aggression which is invaluable addition to go with our young guns in defence.
I think JL has said clean sheets are a priority this season. So a hunt for a striker is on but a good one is few and far between.
New goes need to show what they bring to the Pack but that 6-0 Jas mentioned would be most welcome next weekend! We owe them that much

13.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 10:25:51
Morning all, I am not writing off any player we have . I feel we have assembled a very creative squad so far . My own personal feeling is we lack a big target in the middle we often cross to no one as we all know . And like I said a Chris wood even a keifer moore, or a gykores would suit us at this time .
Dawson isn't added aerial threat being smaller that our other cbs. But I am sure he will help out with odd goal like boly always did .
We just need some one to score 10+ which we haven't had in a while

Regards Graham

29 Jan 2023 10:41:35
Thing is Graham you say it's 'mental' to expect Dawson to chip in with the odd goal then go on to suggest Woods would have fixed the problem! What's actually mental is that despite being CB Dawson has actually scored more goals (5) than Wood (4) has over the last two seasons YET still some believe Woods was the answer to our goals problem! Debs I'm afraid height isn't the only metric for being good in the air, Micheal Owen used to get loads of headers despite his size. Dawson is better in the air than all of our CBs, mostly because he's fearless with it! I think the average Wolves fan doesn't seem to realise how much most WHU fans didn't want him to leave! Had it not been for family reasons I really don't think Moyes would have allowed him to go to us, as I've said before he may not be world class but he's exactly the sort of experienced player our defence needs right now ?

15.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 10:52:10
Height isn't always the answer Debbie.Remember Mairhoffer (sp!) and Carl Cort? Both giants but almost useless in the air.Dawson generally weighs in with a few goals a season and also wins balls at attacking corners to keep the attack live. Nice of you Madman to join the debate and then say you are not getting involved in it! I'm still on tenterhooks waiting for your answer to my question about Ramos. Why have you gone silent on that?

16.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 11:03:38
I think it’s one of those moments when we have a split in the general consensus of how successful this January transfer window has been and it’s impossible to measure that until we see the team playing together- if Julen says we don’t need a out and out striker and we can make goals happen with Cuhna and Sarabia then I trust him but unfortunately we won’t know if this is the case until it’s too late to rectify it - I think of you had asked before the window what position we were most lacking in and therefore most likely to transfer into more midfielders probably wasn’t on the list in comparison to a RB and a Striker and although I think we all understand the impending situation that has lead to the midfielder injection I think everyone would have more piece of mind if we had signed a striker - even Antonio or a championship player like Gyökeres purely for the fact that Costa and Jimenez don’t seem to have the sharpness/hunger that they used to. I don’t think a striker will be the sole resolution to our goal scoring drought but with all the good transfers in other areas of the pitch it can’t hurt to have more squad depth and to give a little competition to our under performing forwards. Until then I think we can only agree to disagree on the how good the transfer window has been.

17.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 12:26:26
Since the World Cup we have scored 9 goals. That’s more or the same as roughly 8 teams in the premier league. Chelsea have scored 5 in the same time. Some posters on here are as bad as the commentators and pundits. Wolves struggled to score under Lage yes, but under Lop we are doing fine. Better than Chelsea and how many strikers do they have? Stop making drama where there is none.

18.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 15:39:51
@Goatmark1 Since the World Cup if we focus on the premier league since that’s what’s important to us now. We have scored 4 goals and we have won 2/5 games - I don’t think anyone is complaining about Lopetegui especially considering the situation he’s been left to fix since Lage but considering some of these games we could of won or drew with a single goal I think it’s still frustrating for some fans to swallow that pill especially when our midfielders often do an amazing job outworking the opposition. However for the longest while it has looked like no one except maybe podence has had the confidence to be a genuine goal threat for us and when he is showing up our strikers as the top goal scorer I think it’s a bit naive to say everything is fine. Yes we are the lowest scoring premier league team because of what happened before Lopetegui but unlike Chelsea we don’t have the luxury of dropping points due to not scoring enough because of our table position. I trust in Lopetegui 100% but you can’t deny that Costa and Jimenez could definitely be improved on and (insert a striker with more confidence/youth than them) we would probably have those extra goals here and there that will make the difference in a relegation battle. Things are looking up but let’s not become complacent ether in 17th place.

19.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 17:35:26
We've never really been that prolific scorers in the PL.

2019 - 47
2020 - 51
2021 - 36
2022 - 38

One current rate, 2023 - 32

20.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 18:06:27
Willain Jose was an old washed-up player when he played for Wolves and then started scoring for fun when he went to another team who could provide him with chances.
Nuno, Bruno and Julen couldn't get these midfielders to create chances because they were bought with the intention of playing counter-attacking football and Nuno didn't like any players who were creative, like Goncalves and Vitihna among others.
There is some reason these players (current window aside) just don't seem to have it in them and a wholesale change was necessary.

21.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 19:04:28
Your idea of fun is interesting, Handsome, because William Jose hasn't scored a single goal this season for Betis and his 8 goals last term can hardly be described as prolific either.

22.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 19:38:51
Jas M those stats just back up how important Jota was to our style of football. Traore popped in with a few in 2020.
Worst decision at the Wolves was to keep Traore and sell Jota. Who ever made that decision needs their eyes looking at.

23.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 20:03:28
Bully it would be mental to rely on Dawson to come to wolves to score goals . Granted it's a side of his game that will be attractive but it's not why we brought him .
Can't see why you would get the hump about someone saying we could do with a different option up front, when it's glaringly obvious we do .

Regards Graham

24.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 20:16:48
Since when was keeping and selling one of either Traore or Jota a decision that had to be made? Jota went because he wanted to go and Traore stayed because we'd not long bought him, we wanted to keep him and he wanted to stay. Whatever people may now think has no relevance to the situation in the summer of 2020.And the answer to my Ramos question is?

25.) 29 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 21:14:34
HandsomeLad, hindsight is wonderful. I mean when Goncalves was at Molineux, we was hardly pulling up trees. Vitinha I agree, wasn't given a chance but when he was used, he really didn't look the part. OK, he's went on to have a decent season after leaving us and has since joined PSG where he has looked average in a poor league.

But going back to our goalscoring issues, I seem to remember Nuno buying a player who hardly played for Atletico Madrid who Wolves fans were unsure of as he didn't really have a goalscoring pedigree. That player happened to be Diogo Jota. Maybe Matheus Cunha can emulate him. Let's at least give the new players a chance before writing them off.

26.) 30 Jan 2023
29 Jan 2023 23:59:27
Graham, I've not got the hump with anybody buddy this is just a forum so no need. What I do find increasingly exacerbating though is posters suggesting that the players we've bought in, at considerable exspense I might add (there will be some serious wages there for some), aren't up to the job ALREADY! Not a single one of those signings has even started to bed in yet and peeps are saying they/we won't score?! I would also point out that if it's so 'glaringly obvious' that we need 'a striker' then why hasn't our first class manager noticed when the rest of you have?! If he brings one in great, but do you not think that the very fact we signed Cunha BEFORE the window opened (unprecedented for this club) AND we committed to £43m for him doesn't maybe suggest that Lope thinks he could help in that regard?! Now who knows if they got it right, time will tell but both Hobbs and Lope seem happy with the business we've done.
Answer me this Graham (and it's a genuine question, cause I really do want to know what peeps think on this:) do you honestly see us committing more than £43m on another single player this window?! Cause unless the answer is yes then it's fair to say (as Lope himself highlighted our need for goals going into this window) then his faith is firmly in Cunha to get the goal scoring started (assits or goals, doesn't matter as they both mean we've scored).
Look, I'm not saying we might not do a last min striker dash but it's pretty clear even for Lope at that point they would just be an extra. Maybe a late loan from abroad or cheap statesman looking for a last contract (as I've said I'd be very happy with Antonio), but if I'm honest I still can't see it. They said six and I can't see any reason why the current six (Gomes obvs included) aren't PRECISELY what Lope and Hobbs wanted/agreed all along!
So if that's the case then maybe peeps should give them and Lope a chance to prove why they were selected? Personally I think our front line looks like it would give anyone trouble: Sarabia/Cunha-Raul/Podence-Traore. Not to mention RAN is currently looking like one of the most exciting young wingers in the League right now, even if Lope says he wants to push him back.
Everyone has an opinion and that's the whole point in these boards (they'd be boring if we all agreed:) so no hump here ?
But for me it boils down to this, either peeps trust Lope or they don't?! Its that simple really, if ya do then give him and his players a chance to actually show what they can do before telling them/us they haven't got the goals to keep us up? COYW ?

30 Jan 2023 07:15:58
Well said,Bullys.

28.) 30 Jan 2023
30 Jan 2023 10:08:11
I agree Bully’s and I think as fans it’s extremely important for us to have faith in Lopetegui and get behind him and the team. Would a RB and a striker be nice of course but if Lopetegui thinks he can get a tune out of the current underperforming players (like he seems to be doing recently with Semedo *touch wood*) then we have to trust the process and hope these new signings in other areas will help with the defence and attack through the CAM and CDM and CB signings - fingers crossed and hopefully we can get ourselves mid table this season ??

29.) 30 Jan 2023
30 Jan 2023 19:45:20
Bully, sorry for delay. No one is writing off the players we have signed although you seem to suggest posters are . Posters are just pointing out we still could do with another dynamic upfront as you agree with Antonio .

30.) 30 Jan 2023
30 Jan 2023 20:26:44
Graham name me a single club who's fans don't want another striker/more goals? I wouldn't mind Antonio but I also don't think that it's 'glaringly obvious' that we need him. Also please read some of the posts of both pages cause so far I've read that Cunha can't score, Sarabia is to small and that Dawson is no better than what we've got! Considering they've hardly kicked a ball for us is that not writing them off then? Behave ?

31.) 31 Jan 2023
30 Jan 2023 23:27:32
Oldwulf summer 2020 we were looking for £80m for Traore that's what everyone thought he was worth. But as a fan it was obvious Jota was the better player we should have kept Jota. He is unlike any forward we have had at the Molineux in 40 years.
Traore was always inconsistent.
With regards to Ramos I think it's poor planning by the club to consistently invest in midfield when we don't have a forward of the ilk of Jota, Ramos, Olmo, Viera to link play. None of our forwards can do that.
I also thought it was a mistake not to invest in Fernandes in the summer as its something we haven't had in a long time.
We have to pay the price to cut the gap on the top 6 if we continue to grow.
£25m on Fernandes and £55m on Ramos is cheap in hindsight.
I don't blame Hobbs on this I don't think Bruno could attract that calibre of player. He deceloped Ramos at Benfica and he still didn't want to come.
We need to think bigger. But the oddest thing about this season is we spent £45m on Nunes and he doesn't play in his preferred position in a middle pair in midfield.
He'd have so much more time and space to make an impact on games I think the obsession with 433 has really held us back.
I think it's because w ehave no confidence in our defence, controlling midfield or attacking. But sometimes you have to have faith in the players we have.

32.) 31 Jan 2023
31 Jan 2023 11:34:05
Well if the players would break their necks to get in the box when traore goes off on a run, instead of watching him like dummies, then they would get a lot more tap ins, the number of times I've seen him cross into the box, and nobody in sight.

33.) 03 Feb 2023
03 Feb 2023 16:33:54
You put blame on other players for Traore crossing to no one.
He knows there is no one in the box so why doesn't he cut inside and dribble past players like he can do shoot at goal win us penalties.
The answer is there. If he is this super player posters rave about why hasn't he done what you posters say?
80 million was fantasy as its been proven for fact.
