We seriously need a rethink re; the spine of the team. I can't believe so many people think captain Coady is such a good player. He has no pace so isn't good enough to sweep against good teams, and now seemingly poorer team. He's not strong enough to actually defend and gets muscled out way too easy, he can't win the ball in the air and isn't actually that great at reading the game. His diagonal passes are now waywards and he's been found out big time. Nowhere near good enough for me, and getting an England cap for a very poor national team is no marker I'm afraid. Just having a loud mouth is not enough so needs replacing. Moutinho hasn't the legs any longer so we need somebody with an engine who can pass, tackle and control the game. Vinagre is poor and needs moved on, I'd sell Traore in a shot, flatters to deceive and still nowhere near consistent enough. We are lacking in important areas, are far too nice to the opposition and don't seem to have the energy or fight to actually press the opposition. I get we are looking at a transition in the way we play but we need to do a hell of a lot better than we have in 3 games so far. Onwards and upwards I guess.

Have to agree about Coady and Vinagre. Both suspect. Also Boly not happy on the right side. Needs sorting.

MD 1281 : You make some great points, think Coady is lost without Doc ; always his out-ball. Vinaigre is third choice left-back, has no future. Also feel Neves/ Moutinho axis has run its course. Love Joao, but he slows the play too much for a so-called counter attacking team. Pretty sure West Ham narrowed the pitch to stifle our 'threat". Fair play to them, well deserved! COYW.

Think Moutinho's slowed a little bit and it shows. Donck should probably start over him since he has excellent stamina and can defend better. Issue is Saiss being a bit unreliable. Start Kilman there or swap Boly over to the left and bring in Hoever at RCB?

You’re right Prestonwolf we should give credit to West Ham who struggled to stay up last season. Credit to Moyes for improving them and beating Nuno when he was not even in stadium. Credit to Stoke for knocking us out of the league cup. Credit to Leeds and Bielsa who have lesser players than us but are above us. Credit to Brendon Rogers who is six points ahead of us and credit to Villa saying mind the gap to us. Nice guys win nothing and Nuno will be gone. Credit to Nuno.

Sorry Coady should be nowhere near the team. He was great in the championship but honestly since we’ve stepped up to the premiership he is nowhere near the standard we need. I don’t get this blind faith and love of Coady just because he sets a good professional example and is loud. It’s not about how loud you shout, it’s about ability, strength, power and dominating the attacking players if the opposition, which he just can’t do. A premier league centre back he ain’t. Can’t defend for toffee and by definition he is a defender.
