Hi Everyone- new poster here so looking forward to some banter and discussions.
Today I thought we were poor defensively so puts too much pressure on forwards to produce the goods and as we all know we are not prolific on that aspect

Cunha, sarabia, silva, gomes, ait nouri, all poor today and questionable wether any of em are good enough. Too slow and very sloppy at times. Only speeded up play after Palace got their 3rd. On the plus side, Neto is slowly getting back to something like his best, let's hope he can stay injury free cus he's our best hope going forward. Still baffled as to how someone thought we should spend 35 mil on fabio. Don't think his future lies in the prem, but hope I'm wrong.

I think it was actually other way around. The offense didn't get a goal to lead while we were dominant. CP had very little going forward until their 1st goal. If we take lead then I think the game goes to us because they had nothing going for them. Silva was slow out there today and you can't play him in behind due to that slow speed. He can't be a standalone striker so they need to change their strategy if he is up top. Probably go 3-5-2. Cunha needs to play either #9 or #10 role. He can't do both in the game. I would give Sasa a chance to start and with concentration for Neto, Sarabia, Semedo and Ait-Nouri feeding in crosses.

Very very poor today, up until today I actually felt we would finish top half, based on today I fear it’s a relegation battle. Too many poor performers, too sloppy and nothing happening in the final third of the pitch. I think there is a player in silva, but today he was bang average at best, should have come off for Sasa at half time. It’s not looking good so far.

Poor let's hope the new signings bring more of a threat, why docherty never came on is beyond me, silva not really a threat, sub's put on too late, palace do not really graft but still done us need a kick up the arse

Positive: we scored more than one goal.

There were 2 decent crosses put in, 2 goals! The rest of the crosses were either too deep or poor.

We are our ow n worst enemy. We try to play one too many passes when we have the ball in our defensive third. Trying to play our way out of the corners is the most alarming as both full backs have a tendency to turn inwards not their weaker foot. Palace forwards pinched the ball off them far too often and they were then caught on the wrong side of the player. Hwang is a liability when moving towards his own goal to receive a pass from a defender. He holds on to the ball and runs back and across the pitch showing his tracking opponent too much of the ball. Lost count of the number of 50/50 balls we lost.
Lack of precision in final third is resulting in us failing to create any clear cut chances. Not a lost cause but a lot of improvements, individually and collectively, needed.

I'm afraid giving a number 9 shirt to silva is am insult to bully etc.

He had to play Fabio. Sasa is not 100% yet and has said so himself. Being eased back into things. Hwang is great but is he better as an impact sub? I would give Enso a go as he can’t do any worse than Silva today. It’s a confidence thing for the team right now. Too negative but palace were there for the taking and we just needed to be more aggressive and clinical.

To be fair it was thought we had Che Adams in the bag but Saints pulled the plug.
However at the very least I think we should be considering a “free agent” striker during international break.

Che Adams wanted to come on loan with the option, but seemingly his contract extension at Southampton was taking time. He would be a free agent next summer otherwise. That striker from Italy, Boulaye Dia, also wanted to come, and his club created merry hell about our offer.
I guess they will both be in the frame for us come January.
