Let's look at it this way on how far we have come under Lope our mostly reserve team stood toe to toe with Liverpools first team and Liverpool needed bailing out by suspect officials.
Play our first team against that Liverpool team we will wallop them.

Good post Rated. I was a bit sceptical about Lope before he was appointed largely because he was taking so long to accept the job. Now we have seen what he can do I have gone from “we’ll be lucky to stay up” to “I’ll be surprised if we don’t stay up”. There must be three other teams worse than us.

I was really impressed by the performance overall. Wolves now look like a different side under JL. Collins with the deserved player of the match performance. Another player I’d like to mention is Guedes, I wasn’t convinced by him so far this season, but last night he looked like a different player. Not happy with the result (VAR and v. bad refereeing) but really happy with the performance. Looking forward to playing West Ham next week.

It was a good performance on the whole. I was also not a fan of Lopetegui before his appointment, but so far I've happily been proven wrong. He's tried different systems - including a 4-4-2 I've previously wanted to see tested and his substitutions are influencing games which is something not seen for a long time with Wolves.

The officiating was shambolic and I honestly think that if Tote had been a Liverpool player, then Sala's goal gets ruled out and Toti's gets allowed. Regardless of what the rules say on the second phase of the play, Sala was offside when the ball was played in phase one, so the flag should have already gone up before Toti heads it. That was a clear error from the linesman and Var should have picked it up and given a freekick to Wolves with no phase 2 or goal.

What intrigues me about that 3rd goal which the officials chalked off (and VAR felt it hadn’t got the tools to correct), was that the linesman didn’t immediately put his flag up at the end of the action. In fact you can see him (on the replay) turning around and walking (3 or 4 yards) towards the centre circle and he hasn’t raised his flag.
In fact there’s no footage showing when he did raise his flag. What was his thought process for considering some potential offside situation 15 to 20 seconds earlier that made him then decide there was a clear offside?

I support anybody in any given situation that is doing their best (especially pressure situations like this one).
However something doesn’t sit right with this incident.

To be honest still a NES nobody seemed to know or identify who was supposedly offside, then it turns out the 'corner taker' had come back from an offside position, but he'd played the ball back initially and can't go anywhere else but back and wasn't offside when he recieved it again. Who whispers in the earpieces of the officials I don't know and a champions league ground without the correct angle for VAR? There's a touch of suspicion created by it all, as in the old days 'we woz robbed'.

I tend to agree Still a NES, apparently the technology that was introduced to clarify situations like this suddenly can't, really!

This was 'home team refereeing' at best but I think we can legitimately have our suspicions beyond that. The problem is still there because VAR is run by referees, so still subjective. I predicted a VAR controversy that would not be in our favour, even I did not expect two.

I didn't realise Mike Dean was on VAR. According to transfermarkt Referee stats, his residence is the wirral!

Absolutely agree Abbey and Longmynd.

There was a stamp on Adama (shown clearly on some social media video images). Will this be looked at with a view to issue a retrospective red card?

Also the Salah goal was given on the basis of an offside rule that is not applied in all cases (per Danny Murphy).
In principle I agree with the use of VAR as it provides the tools to get key decisions right. However in practice, inconsistent applications of such tools and their use (along with the rules themselves ) is just muddying the waters. A couple of years ago, at Anfield, we had 2 incidents where VAR over-ruled onfield decisions with significantly less justification than either of last night’s incidents.

I have to admit that this is putting me off the sport when I can watch other sports where technology aids fairness and the true spirit of sport itself.

Can't disagree with the feed.
But NES would be a real shame that the inept use of VAR agaisnt us stops you enjoying your beloved Wolves.
I put it out my mind and only want to see the improvement of our club with a host of talent coming through our ranks.
Along with lopetegui masterminding our recovery from where we were when he took over I for one are more hopeful than I was before watching last night's match.
Ait nouri if he'd taken his one on one chance,Adama putting in a cross with 3 in the box to aim at instead of crossing and going into the crowd resulting in Liverpool going up the other end and scoring we may of won.
But that's football just how I see the VAR on another day we could of easily won so I take positives from that.
I thought jiminez was not 100% on his game making our performance even better as if jiminez was on top of his game our performance would of been even better.
All in all lots if positives to take a real shame the VAR and the ref overshadowing our excellent performance.

I'm not usually one to call foul and conspiracy theories but a lot of things didn't look right last night.

As has been said, no flag at all, linesman walking to the centre circle and then suddenly there's a flag, don't believe that earpieces didn't have anything to do with that

My thoughts are that aren't linesmen suppose to wait for var to tellthem to flag offsides now? We saw coady collide with patrichio due to this, so the liner last night must have recieved an instruction from VAR to flag. If they couldn't get an angle how could they have seen an offside? If that isn't the case then how does the linesman explain himself and change the refs mind? I didn't see them consulting one another. My suspicions grow Wombat77.
