Does anyone know what conditions does a potential EU player have to fulfill to get a work permit?

Class performance by Wales always good to see home nations do wrll except against England obviously! Was a great game, shame about the penalty but it didn't matter in the end. Play as a team, shows what can be done with the right mix.

Goggs- I believe its a points based system which takes into account things such as international Appereances (and how recent those are) along with points based on the quality of the league they are coming from. But essentially if you haven't been recognised nationally (at any level) then you will struggle to qualify. I remember when the system was first announced there was a long list of youngsters that would have never come to this country if it had been in place, the most prominent names were Fabregas and Pogba (first time round when they were kids obvs) . definitely going to make it harder to get youngsters in from Europe although the report did reflect on the fact that it would even the playing field for South American players. Guess we are seeing that with our latest signing 👍.

That's very interesting Bullysboy,

I'm thinking the club knowing this was coming into force and makes sense to me why we shelled out £35 million on Fabio Silva.

As it's been said Fosun aren't daft and there has to be a logical reason why we bought Silva last summer. 👍.

Goggs, it's very long winded so I've attached a link to the PL site

In short, it says that anyone not holding a British passport needs to hit certain criteria.

No European leagues have been upgraded so players can move easier.

Phil -Im not Silva's biggest fan but for me the "logical reason is that he has one "skill" that is virtually unique and of course truly priceless. It could mean that at £35m he is an absolute steal.
He seems to have the uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time. He obviouly reads the game ( or perhaps its just an unconcious thing) incredibly well so that he gets on the end of numerous chances.
Even last season when his overall play was disappointing and he only played infrequently and even then often not for the full 90mins he had ( but sadly missed) a hatful of chances.
If they start going in regularly he can sit on a stool on the centre spot for the rest of the game for all I care!
It would be great if he could get some confidence from some succesful game time but last year was v hard as due to injuries and other things when he played he was immediately under pressure to perform, / carry the team.
Perhaps with Jimenenz back he can play a less pressurised role and maybe he will then come good.
Hopefully we will take the early rounds of the league cup ( or what ever it is called next season) seriously and he can get some free minutes and hopefully a couple of goals!

Hi Thefutureisoldgold hope all is well mate.
I would love to be a fly on the wall in the board meetings when recruitment is on the agenda.
All we can do is guess to why we paid a massive amount for an 18 year old.
Would love like you for us take the league cup seriously.
Fingers crossed Silva becomes a superstar for us in the future.

2 weeks after monday till we back in for pre season monday July the 5th I believe.

FWAW.

Good post Thefutureisoldgold. At first I thought maybe a little light weight for the Prem but improved with every game. He needed someone to play off in the middle, not. Jose who tried his best. Or did he? Hopefully Jimenez when he's fit. Even one of the best strikers to pull on a Wolves shirt, John Richards, had the Doog and Bully had Mutch. I think we need somebody to play alongside Neves, a Hibbit or an Alex Rae. What do you think?

Need to cash in on Neves! I like Fabios' skill and attitude, people have to realise he will never have pace, it cannot be trained, it's a natural born thing. Doesn't stop him having a great career, think Teddy Sheringham! Interesting rumours, re Dani Mota. FWAW.

Looking at Fabios stats 4 goals, 3 assists and 4 good chances missed from 40% of time he could have been on the pitch shows promise. let's not forget he's only 18 and moved to a foreign country.

Again good posts gents and again Future I completely agree regarding Fabios 'best skill'. As I've said before I think that a) Phil is also correct in that I think that's why we signed Fabio when we did, cause they new it was the only chance to get a permit before he got national recognition (by which point its probs too late for us) and b) as I've said before Fosun learnt from our Euro jaunt! There's a reason we were down to bare bones in Europe (think it was a 21/ 25 man squad) and its because we don't have four first team players that are homegrown to the club. Fosun saw this and decided to try and remedy it, these days the easiest way to do that is cherry pick 18 year olds you think will make it into the first team and sign um then. By the time Fabio turns 21 (if we still have him) he will count as homegrown to the club and for a full Euro squad you need at least four of those! 👍.
