Great win on Sunday Podence looking good. Sadly maybe time to let Traore go, preferably abroad. Silva looking better, Raul not back to his best yet but if there is one man who deserves to wear the Shirt it's him.
Anyway better late than never.a Happy New Year to all on here from the very snowy Austrian Alps

I understand we might be looking at Ivan Toney. To be honest I think Ivanhoe would be an improvement on what we have at the moment. What about Pukki, worth a punt? What happened to David Brookes, Bournemouth, could be a good addition at the right price.

I don’t understand why no players make it through the academy, every Club in the Prem (even Man City) have at least one home produced player appearing regularly. Every player in our team has been transferred in and are all full Internationals most who are under performing, any of them play well in a couple of games is worth 50 mill and linked with a move to one of the big six, how can you build a team that’s ever going to challenge at the top end of the table, or is that not the intention any longer. We all know it’s been difficult this season and some Clubs haven’t took it too serious but we can only hope our owners have plans for next season.

2.) 22 Mar 2021 11:05:17
I know they don't play regularly but Gibbs White and Otasowie have come through our ranks.

3.) 22 Mar 2021 15:05:46
Gibbs white ain't good enough and otasowie needs a spell out on loan.
We've spent some serious money on u23 and academy players and I think the juries out on the majority of them.

4.) 22 Mar 2021 17:14:02
It looks like the recruitment for younger players seems to be with a view of selling them on at a profit. One player I'd like to see getting a chance is Theo Corbeanu.

5.) 24 Mar 2021 16:45:02
The worrying thing about mgw is that it seems that nuno likes him. I personally think he's bad news and not a premier league player by a county mile.

6.) 25 Mar 2021 11:10:45
Have to agree Lexluna. When has he changed a game, introduced from the bench, in the PREM?

7.) 26 Mar 2021 21:27:30
Wolves will never produce talent homegrown unless they sign for Mendez aged 6! Everything comes via him and don't be surprised if Neto is moved on in June as the Mendez pension pot needs topping up!

8.) 27 Mar 2021 09:46:26
Great to see Wozza10 back trolling.

9.) 27 Mar 2021 16:35:55
I think we have some of the workds best kids on our books the future is promising I think.

10.) 27 Mar 2021 17:25:42
What I love about Wozza10 is how precise his facts are. As he says, everything goes through Jorge Mendes. Coady, Boly, Marcal, Kilman, Dendoncker, Otasowie, Hoever, Jonny, Saiss. None are represented by Mendes thereby proving his point that everything goes through him.

11.) 28 Mar 2021 08:34:52
I would love to see Corbeanu given a chance too.

12.) 03 Apr 2021 11:25:56
Academy players make it at clubs like City because they are given prolonged periods in the first team. Their team is good enough to carry a player who is learning how to play at this level. Unfortunately our team isn't.

{Ed077's Note - isn't Foden the only "academy" player to actually "make it" in the City squad. With the investment they've made into their youth setup, 1 is a very low number IMO. They've struggled to hold onto their promising youth players like Sancho, Diaz, etc..

13.) 04 Apr 2021 12:12:53
I'd take one as good as Foden to be fair.

13 Jul 2018 12:25:59
Anybody know the latest on the Zinchenko transfer? Phoned friends in Manchester and they said. a good solid player not unlike De Bruyna. City fans will be sad to see him go. Sounds good to me.

1.) 13 Jul 2018 15:34:34
Looks like Fulham and Newcastle are after him too, so well will see!
Would love Michael Antonio as well personally just as he adds more cover in lots of positions was good as a striker last season before his injury. Also counts towards English registered players.

Does anyone know where the team are staying in the Innsbruck area. I have details of the matches but wonder where they stay and train.

I am a little disappointed by the lack of new signings on deadline day but we have 4 New players. Two of which we have yet to see play.
On the last 3 games, there was a vast improvement on last season. Some people say Fosun are not interested in the Club but to refuse 30mil for Traore was a good move for me, as on Sunday he ripped the Utd. defence apart. OK he did miss the odd chance but so did some of the other players.
It is a shame there are a few negative comments on here and they never seem satisfied. If they won a round the world cruise they would want to go somewhere else.
Wolves Forever.

Re Sunday's game. As I live abroad I can not get to see live matches and rely on Sky news. On Sunday a so called reporter kept saying " let's go to the Spurs Wolves game" Should that have been the other way round or am I being picky? He also said " from Molineux, Harry Kane is on the bench" Should that not have been "Jimenez playing his first league game in front of the home fans. Was that too much to ask for after his life threatening injury. Seems to me that if you are not one of the top six in this league, you don't count. Two games, two losses but outplayed both teams. With a bit of luck we could have been six points better off. Keep it up Wolves we are all behind you.
Ps. Give Traore a rise and get him to put pen to paper.

alpinewolf

1.) 24 Aug 2021 16:53:47
You're so right alpinewolf. And it's the top six teams that get more than their fair share of penalties. Kane, Grealish, Sterling. Ali etc will be falling over in the box all season. So unsteady on their feet once they reach the penalty area!

2.) 24 Aug 2021 17:26:18
Having watched the game live I was flabbergasted by the pundits on BBC match of the day talking all about Spurs, Ali et el who according to them were brilliant?
If Wolves had put away half their chances they would have won 12 -1 the only person to mention their superiority was Lage in his interview who pointed out the 24 chances Wolves created! 45 chances intwo games and no goals!
Must put these away in future!

Nice to see some of the old players mentioned. Frank Monroe, great player. I think I he came from Scotland as a centre forward but Bill McGarry thought he would make a better centre half. Spot on Bill. Ernie Hunt, Peter Knowles and later Willie Carr and Alan Sunderland. My first visit to. the Mol. was when I was about 10 and living in Redditch. I went with a friend by train but the journey was a blank. I remember walking down a passage so we could have been on the South Bank. Remember we had a great either Peter Broadbent or NormanDeeley.

1.) 08 May 2021 14:08:22
We could talk all day about Wolves great players. I fondly remember some not-so-greats who were very effective when playing together. Chris Crowe and Alan Hinton come to mind. A newspaper headline after a West Ham match praised them as 'the cast-off and the kid'.

2.) 08 May 2021 17:34:29
Deep sadly there gave been far more of them - not greats - than greats over my time - since late 60s- particularly in the 80s when we had the 3 relegations in a row.
But you adjust - I remember "battles" with Colchester, Peterborough, Scarborough and the like in Div 4 as was and cheering on Floyd Streete (nobody's great) etc - just as passionately as I had John Richards and our Div 1 teams of the 70s and now Conor Coady and our Prem team of the 2020s.
Watching in crowds of a few thousand not the 30k + we had in the 70s or now days
I'm sure most of us older guys on here are the same - some of us may get mad - v mad - and moan - a lot - if we lose but the support continues.
Maybe its the pain that makes pleasure just so sweet and the slightest drop off - like this year - so hard to take.
But next year will be great because the future is old gold! (hopefully! )

3.) 08 May 2021 20:02:42
Wasn’t this history why fans rejected the Super League?
Every club down to those at grass roots level have their own history.
We are fortunate at Wolves to have gone through fantastic times and bad times! However that’s what makes the game what it is!
My first game was under the lights watching Honved play Wolves on the South Bank.

4.) 08 May 2021 20:29:03
Agree with earlier post about Chris Crowe and Alan Hinton, they did play well together. I was at the match at West Ham in 1962 when they played a big part in the 4-1 win. Could be the match the report referred to. Wolves got off to a great start that season.

5.) 08 May 2021 20:52:18
Anyone remember 1st of October 1980.

6.) 08 May 2021 22:32:39

Real Madrid under the lights.
Happy days.
From full house to 3000 under the Bhattis.

7.) 09 May 2021 10:15:28
My first memory very young a goal less draw either liverpool or man utd, also my dad running over the Stafford road back to the emerald club my brother in one hand me on the other hand as away fans were fighting everywhere, I must of been about 6 or 7 years old.

Seen a lot of posts about experimenting with the youngsters, I agree but not on monday. The last thing we want is to loose to the Tescos, it can't be as bad as last Sunday. The last time Nuno changed the team big-time was against Southampton in the cup. We got beaten and Nino got slated.
The only glimmer of hope from sunday was Fabio who got stuck in and contributed more in the time he was on the pitch than Jose did in his time. Fabio didn't say he was worth 35 million. somebody else did.

alpinewolf

1.) 28 Apr 2021 17:15:50
Very true alpine and great post. tesco lot are same as the vanilla they're going to keep playing for free kicks either to break our play up or so as they can hit box. need a good ref to see through that cus fat Sam will say slightest touch go down.

2.) 28 Apr 2021 17:51:01
As I posted other day play big sam at his own game 1 up front 10 behind the ball.
We have quality to come on off the bench Traore podence silva.
It's a must not lose game there too much pride at stack to experiment with the kids imo.
So I agree with you both.

3.) 28 Apr 2021 18:11:37
ps the wingbacks getting forward knowing that they're covered.
We need to be solid retain our shape and keep all avenues for west brom shut tight.
They are hanging on by their finger nails and will want to win we must win even it's a bore non event game.
We try with Traore podence Jose and Neto and too much of our games our attacking threat hasn't been there.
It's only because it's the derby and ramped up by Sunday's debacle a to why my feelings are so high.
It still hurts we lost to them at the mol monday we must have payback at all costs.

4.) 28 Apr 2021 19:45:13
I hate losing to the Baggies as much as anybody else on here does. But next season we’ll be playing in the Premier League and Baggies won’t be. So now is a priceless time for blooding players who must be hungry for their opportunity. We may even be pleasantly surprised and as long as they put in a shift (which most of the team didn’t against Burnley), then that’s good enough for me.
Hoever, Otasowie and Corbeanu, let’s see what they’ve got.

5.) 28 Apr 2021 23:00:40
Lexluna, we can't be hypocrites; we've a few Tom Daly's on our side as well who drop for nothing. Embarrassed with the antics of Podence agst Burnley. Not the only time he's done it either, nor the only one. Coady and Silva spring to mind. We should clean up our own act before criticising others.

6.) 29 Apr 2021 14:53:16
I think we have to be honest with ourselves Monday is not going to be easy and after sundays totally inept performance the tescos will be fancying it more than us. We have got to reassess ourselves get players in familiar places with familiar roles. Old heads will be needed to deal with big Sam's topples and pains and a tolerance therewith. My concerns are midfield and centre. Will moutininho play? A game in which we surely need him. We should be able to win this, but where will goals come from? Jose no. Fabio might be good for 1, adama who knows, boly seiss? This match could well epitomise our season.

7.) 29 Apr 2021 20:19:12
If I were manager, any player who fails to perform from the the first whistle on Monday would be top of the list to be shown the door. Injuries excepted.
The weeding out has to begin now. We can’t have the dross shown against Burnley who obviously played their socks off. Motivation now please Nuno. If they can’t give 100% plus now how will they be elevated for next year?

16 Mar 2021 14:56:41
Probably get slated for this but here goes. A lot of fans think Traore should score more goals or put in more crosses. If he's on the wing he can't score and if he's in the middle he can't cross the ball. When he does there is no bugger there anyway. One of Wolves best wingers, the late great Waggy, didn't score many goals but put in great crosses for the Doog or Richards to bang in the goals. What do I know, just an ex springmaker from Redditch.

alpinewolf

{Ed001's Note - Salah is the Prem's top scorer, he plays on the wing. Why can't Traore score goals from the wings? I mean other than he doesn't make forward runs to get into position to score, which is his fault.}

1.) 16 Mar 2021 15:52:49
I think everyone agrees he's an enigma and that's the joy in watching him. He's certainly hot to handle and his presence takes defenders away but we've no forward or real attacking midfielder to take up space and compliment him. He can only record assists if someone is there to put it in. As for goals himself its been solo runs away.

2.) 16 Mar 2021 16:33:42
Totally agree but and its a big but. he should be moving into space when he's not got the ball and if he does he could easily be through on goal. twice in last 15 mins last night he stood still so its easy to be marked. He's a very frustrating player and I think with his build and speed he could offer more.

3.) 16 Mar 2021 19:00:08
Liverpool tactics were spot on last night, there were always 3 or 4 players nearest to Traore when he was in an attacking position, they crowded him out. Why couldn’t we do the same number on Liverpool’s most effective players? Jota in space was always going to do a number on us. My thoughts are that we’re not getting enough forward play out of the wing backs and I still think Semedo is a total waste of money. He gambols forward ineffectually and gives the ball away, makes a foul or is usually out of position when a good team counters. Sell him.

4.) 17 Mar 2021 07:33:17
So are those who are slating Traore by saying he isn't setting anything up forgetting it was him who provided the cross from which Alisson fouled Semedo but we didn't get the penalty, or indeed Traore played the ball in for Semedo when he forced a save from Alisson?

5.) 17 Mar 2021 16:24:06
Apparently, he's made 40 chances with no assists. Not sure of the quality of the chances.
Does Moe Salah have three people on him all the time?
It's really Nuno's fault for not adjusting the formation or style of play to take into account all of the extra space elsewhere on the pitch.

I agree DAS loaning Afobe seems a bit strange. If he was not in plans why not send him back. Bonatini OK you don't get much for 10 mill these days. Personally I would have kept Douglas as back up. Why is Bathe still here?

Started to go to the Mol regularly in, 1971, the BIll McGary era, what a great team. I think my season ticket cost £8, please correct me if I'm wrong. Great times, went through the Dougan and Chapati brothers so it's not that bad at the moment. I think things will get better. fingers crossed.
pS still have my Wembly ticket for Wolves v Man City league cup final Entrance 80 p.

Good post Thefutureisoldgold. At first I thought maybe a little light weight for the Prem but improved with every game. He needed someone to play off in the middle, not. Jose who tried his best. Or did he? Hopefully Jimenez when he's fit. Even one of the best strikers to pull on a Wolves shirt, John Richards, had the Doog and Bully had Mutch. I think we need somebody to play alongside Neves, a Hibbit or an Alex Rae. What do you think?
