So our current predicament is that we have a few days before the season starts and we have no manager. Although finance is not a problem we have no room to spend money to bring players in due to FFP.
So;
we are looking for someone who is available today or tomorrow in order to prepare the team for Monday.
We need someone who has recent knowledge of the premier league and won’t need time to settle in to a new country/league.
We need someone who has knowledge of our players and those of the other premier league teams having planned and prepared to play them already.
We need someone who has experience of taking on a team written off for relegation and with little or no money to spend.
Finally we need a coach (not a manager) and one who has proven he can get things out of young players that other couldn’t.

He may not be a Stella name or a sexy appointment but Gary O’Neil ticks every box on that list.

In our current situation he is the perfect choice however, he may not be in a years time when we can spend again while others are facing the same restrictions.
Whilst Potter is the more attractive name our current plight might not make us the most attractive to him!
However, if the rumoured list of candidates spoken to is anything to go by then G O’N should be welcomed with open arms as the alternatives of Beale, Lampard and Solskjear would surely have had us all seeing our own arses!

Dear god, please don't tell me Lampard was on a potential list of managers?

It's official, three year contract for O'Niel. A relegation battling manager for a relegation battling team, well done Jeff you've out done yourself. If this back fires I hope we hound you put of the city, the man's a joke! ?

Yes Debbie, Lampard was a candidate.
Apparently Nuno was muted but he is on a fortune in Saudi.
Like I say, O ‘Neil ticks the boxes for our current situation but I’m surprised he has a 3 yr contract.

I entirely agree with the view that O'Neil is a logical appointment under the circumstances. Also, despite everything being said in the media, I'm not even convinced it's a given that we are in for a relegation battle. If the new manager can get the players on board and coach a few goals into them, we may surprise some of the doubters.
