Don't understand signing Cresswell when we have at least 4 or 5 players who can play there.

I know what you mean, I rate Cresswell but he's getting on and surely this can only mean that either RAN or Bueno is going?!

Jonny and RAN will be moved on and rightly so. Jonny has not been the same since his injury. RAN was full of potential but a defender he is not. He OK going forward but is he better than our other options there (Neto). Cresswell has experience at this level and is a better all round player than both Jonny and RAN.

It seems pretty apparent Dek that, Bueno apart, Lopetegui doesn't really rate his options in that position although of course Toti can fill in. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ait Nouri, Jonny and Giles all go.

I think your right Jas, interestingly the Express are saying it is a case of getting Cresswell in so as to allow RAN to go out on loan. But like you say I wouldn't be surprised if its a loan with a fee included. Cresswell is a better player than both but he also has quite a few issues with injuries and isn't getting younger. The club have said from the off that Jonny is off, so no surprises there. Seems a sensible signing overall but time will tell ?

I agree Jas, but we should of just offered Saiss a longer deal because I rated him highly and he had a couple of goals in him.

Don't get your point vb as Saiss was a left sided centre half (and originally a successful makeshift championship midfielder with us) but never was, and would never make, a decent left back.

Previously, I had reservations about our transfer policy of buying youth and kids for the future, when I felt we needed needed experience. Currently, I'm worried that we are letting youngsters go and focusing on experienced, older players. I conclude that I don't have a clue what I'm on about, and just need to trust in J-Lo and support the lads whatever! COYW

Old wulf, what I meant was he wasn’t given a longer deal due to his age being a factor and now we are giving older people a longer deal. Always liked having Saiss as he was very underrated but I meant it purely being the previous team letting him go when he wanted to stay.

I’m in favour of the Cresswell signing.
He has several assists to his name and great delivery and along with Doherty, we will have 2 progressive players in areas where we have had little or no offensive production over the last 2-3 seasons.
Even if they are not starting each game their experience and ability to support forward players will be invaluable.

It is worth noting here that we spent the last month of the season with Totti playing LB. That in itself suggests that Lope doesn't trust the defensive capabilities of our current options! I like Cresswell but I worry that we seem to be building and old/slow defence ?
