I want to share my story of how and why I support my beloved Wolves.
My dad got made redundant and took on a taxi driving job to make ends meet. Whilst doing this job he ended up picking up Sir Jack Hayward. Sir Jack offered us a complementary trip to Molyneux to watch Portsmouth and a tour round

I got to meet Steve Bull and John DeWolf.
I was 16 and never really settled on a team to support, but that sold me. Forever offset of the wolf pack since then
Sorry my post got cut in two as I clicked submit early by accident.
Anyone care to share their experiences.
BTW I am from Derbyshire and no ties to Wolverhampton

From the motherland wolves born and bred.
My father took my brother and myself to the wolves molineux from when we were knee high.

First away game Newport County but it was called off due to water logged pitch 1988.
Was still at school.
My first away game that actually went ahead was Aldershot away the day of the Hillsborough disaster.
My memory is shot but we won 0-2 or 1-2.
Bully scored.

A month or so ago my rother and myself had went on stadium tour and John Richards was the ex player along with the tour guide.
We both loved it and an experience of a life time meeting talking to King John Richards.
Mt brother had a season ticket but I gave mine up.
Don't want to say why as it's too sad and depressing.
But all is good and always happy and appreciative of having a wonderful wolves mad father who blessed us with his love and passion for the wolves.
When feeling down I always have the wolves.

Great story!

Mine is:

I moved to Wolvo in my mid 20’s, my Dad came over to visit and suggested we go to a match (Burnley at home, won comfortably) the atmosphere was electric, the camaraderie in the pubs before / after was great. But when the crowd sang in unison “Hi-Ho Wolverhampton” that made the hair in the back of my neck stand up, and still does.

Good to read Deb?

I used to like when back in the old division 4 and 3 the song,

Everywhere we go oh
People want to know
Lol. Buy a market stall now,
Sell the super stretch jeans, one of the verses.

My brother and I were chatting tge other day and when we were young teenagers we were in the mosh on the southbank and one of our mates shouted,
GIVE ME A W
As per norm the southbank followed W
Then he went O
Then lol he shouted V missed out the L and everyone around him was slapping him on the head singing you so and so.
Our mate wasn't very clever but it was so so funny ha ha.

Hi. Born 100 yards from the Golen Palace 1935. My old dad took me to my first match May 1942, The Northern League Cup Final, Wolves v Sunderland, a two leg final,. Wolve won 6-3. During WW2 myself and my old pal's watched the wartime league matches in the 'Cowshead'now the Stan Cullis, as most players we in the forces then, guest players would play. I was present at most of the 'Golden Days' except absent due to National Service 1953-55, therefore I have seen all the great's play - Billy Wright etc, I never missed a home match in wolves 'dark day's when Chorley beat. I remember the poor wolves supporter attendance in those day's 3000 etc, where were the loud supporter's with their new strips of today then missing in action!
As far as the present team's performance, for god's sake it's a transitional period, give Bruno a chance, I might have been in 'Dads Army' but I wouldn't like to be in the trenches with most of the nervous poster's.
Keep Calm and Carry On

Wow Old Un that's a great story. I was brought up in East Kent in the 50s with no good football nearer than the London teams, a 3 hour drive.but father didn't have a car or the dosh to make a trip. I was keen on football and listened to games on the wireless, that's where I bumped into Wolves, then followed their results, got info from Charlie Buchan magazines, and followed Wolves ever since. Wolverhampton could have been on the moon living in Ramsgate.

As a youngster living in Germany with my forces family our next door neighbour was a Scotsman, Jock McCleish, who would talk to me about the great Wolves sides he adored. From that time on, with no local team to support I became a Wolves fan. So that's 65 years and counting.

Forgot to say, I still have letter and ticket. Signatures are on the back of the letter.
On another point, I don't get to go to often but the last time I did I took my kids and A Wolves steward knew it was their first game, came round with a little goodie bag. Needless to say they were sold too

My grandad used to get the local sat paper from Wolverhampton from the then bishop of Wolverhampton, who I can't remember his name, sent to his house as they were good friends at the time, great reading,

{Ed002's Note - In the late 60s Wolves played the summer of 1967 and 1969 as the Los Angeles Wolves and then the Kansas City Spurs. I saw one of teh games in 1967.}
