If this is the case, ie our deal for Gomes is being disrupted by Lyon or indeed anyone else, it would be a real shame but hardly surprising.
After a couple of years of obviously hugely overpaying both in terms of fees and wages for very modest players it seems that now that JL has arrived and assumedly taken charge we are buying players for what appears to be sensible if not modest fees.
To get Lemina, Sarabia and Gomes for under £30m or roughly what we paid for Guedes and a lot less than we paid for Fabio seems on the face of it to be very good business indeed.
Whilst short term it is likely that all 3 will be merely squad players, {I do not want to sell Neves [to fund these deals or for any other reason] but rather I would look to build the team on him and Nunes as a rock solid top quality 2 in a 4,2,3,1 system,) rather than first 11 they hugely improve our bench and offer realistic options, something we simply haven't had for a while now!

Seems pretty obvious to me what's he's saying - even if we don't agree with everything he's saying.
I still reckon we are crying out, as I've said on here a few times, that, as we have been for months, we obviously and desperately need a true CF .or two.but most on here seem to think no prob with what we have and these midfielders coming in!
Just don't see it myself,would love to be proved wrong.time will tell

I would love JL to explain why we only seem to sign midfielders! Before long we will have a 2 - 7 - 1 formation. Not one decent effort on goal tonight, when Rau! went side not one player attempted to go down the middle. Playing out from the back doesn't work without the right players, we have no one with that ability except perhaps Conor Coady!

Tonight was nowhere near our strongest 11. Toti, Jonny, Ait Nouri, Adama, Raul, Moutinho are now the back ups.

I think 433 will be the favoured formation with Sa, Semedo, Collins, Kilman, Bueno, Neves, Nunes, Lemina, Podence, Sarabia and Cunha being the strongest team at this present time.

Don't get me wrong Old Wolf, it's great that Lope has brought in the quality of Serbia, and other - to help to create more chances etc - but I disagree - we do get quite a lot of chances currently - but unless we have quality CF's / finishers, making runs, committing themselves to attacking the ball, we will still struggle to be other than lowest scorers in the Prem

What’s the chances of us getting Danny Ings - I think he would be a good short term solution and he proved he’s still a goal threat even as a sub against us. Antonio presses well but not sure if he’s what we need to start putting things in the back of the net

the players are not the problem its the formation that they are playing in it doesn't evolve in the game Liverpool press in almost a 4 1 5 allowing us no time on the ball which if they used there heads could have easily been beaten with a ball into the channels over the top but it never happened. wolves press with just the 2 players and play a game based on containment rather than winning the ball back aggressively I'm convinced that this is why lemina has been brought for some fight and mobility in the middle because Hodge and Moutinho are not the answer . and to top it all off the ref had a shocking game which is becoming quite the norm against us

Regarding Gones and Lyon, he can say he doesn't want to sign a contract with them. The team can't force him to go to the highest bidder. Let's see if he is morally honorable.
