Come on Norwich!

15 May 2024 19:00:44
The Premier League will next month vote on a proposal to scrap VAR – but its chances of success have been described as ‘unlikely’.

A resolution to bin the highly controversial system, introduced in 2019, has been submitted by Wolves in what is a highly significant and potentially historic move.

15 May 2024 20:22:27
Hopefully it will gain significant backing and we can finally see it binned. Unfortunately it will probably continue in some form or other and only a nationwide protest by fans, the paying customer will force their hand. Empty grounds would send a significant financial message that could not be ignored.

16 May 2024 06:50:18
The headline is about scrapping VAR. However, the Wolves wording is well structured and very reasonably suggests after 5 years it should be reviewed.
If that is the way it will be debated, then I would hope for a few things:
1. Some better clarity on interpretation, ie "what defines
offside"
2. Like other sports, if there is a referral, to speed things up,
Backroom team make the call, not the nonsense of wasting time
with the Ref. going to the screen.
3. The biggest and most important for me. ALL Premiership
Officials to have to re-apply for their jobs via a new Exam.
They are the weakest link in this!
Will anything change?.not likely!

{Ed001's Note - no 3 is the only one that really matters. Get the PGMOL out of VAR and it might work. Even then I would prefer it gone as it ruins the moment of goal scoring waiting for VAR.}

16 May 2024 09:30:25
Perhaps Mike Deans comments made in August should be brought up in this meeting. Just to recall he was on var and decided not to make a call to his mate on the pitch to avoid him further grief! PGMOL are not fit for purpose. Fact!

16 May 2024 10:46:13
That is you and I in agreement Ed!
Let'd hope all Clubs and fans share the same and something changes regards Officials!

16 May 2024 14:11:56
With all the hype about AI surely that is the way forward in the long run. Human review only in the event of subjective or very rare calls.

16 May 2024 16:56:41
VAR will not be voted out, the so called big six will see to that. They are always the ones that benefit from dodgy decisions, Man City have been the beneficiary of many a dodgy call and yet no other team has broken the rules as much as them. No doubt due mainly to the Saudi money greasing a lot of palms.

16 May 2024 18:02:15
The only way I can see this is if a team can score goals VAR is only of minimum significance, a side scoring 3 goals has a 4th go against them well big deal. Sides that are scraping one goal wins or draws could potentially lose a lot of points. Similarly sides conceding 3 goals its not going to make much difference to.

16 May 2024 18:12:18
Apparently Liverpool have already said they don't want VAR scrapped and 'other' big clubs are expected to agree, reported by Sky news. Their poll is still 73% to scrap it though. Will supporters get what they want? and be able to enjoy the passion of the game without stop/start yes/no stoppages from stockly Park? Nah, no way will the rulers give way and admit they're wrong. They'll carry on sterilising our national game until we stop paying for an emotion free borefest with results being effectively decided by slow motion replays and freeze frame images that don't represent the true nature of the game, and decisions open to suspicion.
The paying fan dosnt matter to them, they don't give a toss, until, the income drops.

16 May 2024 18:24:27
Anyone read Sky's hatchet job? It basically reads like 'little old Wolves are having a moan but the decisions would have been the same anyway' then goes on to quote the match officials stat of 84% correct before 96% correct now! Whilst skating over the fact that a) correct is still FAR to subjective (all it really means is a different panel of refs from those who made the decision in match agree post match) and b) as we cited in our motion it's the supporters entertainment that's the price of it! In fact the entire article makes little mention of fans enjoyment of what is essentially supposed to be an entertainment sport (and exspensive entertainment at that). Like the Eds pointed out before it's not in Sky's interest to get rid as they love the breaks in play! So typical of them to write articles with an agenda to fuel their revenues, shameless 🤢

16 May 2024 19:46:49
Sky can say what they want but Howard Webb himself has come out admitted that we:

Should have had a penalty against Man Utd.

Incorrect penalty call against Sheff Utd.

2 incorrect penalty calls against Fulham as well as incorrect call not to send Tim Ream off.

Incorrect call in Newcastle game.

That's 6 confirmed incorrect decisions against us.

More recently the Haaland penalty decision against us was incorrect and the West Ham goal should have been given but was subjectively reviewed by VAR.

VAR is a joke but can be fixed, however the people operating VAR are a disgrace.

16 May 2024 20:24:05
Ofcourse SKY want it kept in it protects their big 6.

15 May 2024 18:35:52
I think Wolves will.be punished for daring to suggest that VAR is abolished but credit must be given to them for publicly voicing their concerns.

However what I think will happen is that clubs will vote 12 for and 8 against getting rid.

Premier League will say that Semi Automatic offsides will be introduced after the September international break so this will improve things.

But, I think the clubs that vote to get rid of it will demand that another vote takes place next year if no improvements are made and then I think the 14 votes needed will be obtained.

15 May 2024 18:55:01
It'd be a good time for football fans to have an online petition supporting our proposal and be represented. If the league then dosnt heed the all round dissatisfaction we'll know who they're putting first and what to expect for the future.
Jas they can't punish us directly for tabling the move, but again we'll see how our season plays out afterwards. It's being brought to attention officially tho and that's a start.

15 May 2024 19:21:29
So proud 🫶

15 May 2024 23:11:17
Think it's a great idea Abbey, get one started fella! I know there is a fair few on here that'll sign it, happy to be the second name on that list! 👍

16 May 2024 05:32:05
Hey, I'm not up with all the computer stuff Bullysboy or it've been done already. I hope someone will get one going, give the prem some adverse publicity alongside it and we get somewhere.

16 May 2024 11:46:02
Hooe it all works out in a favour Abbey and gents.
Even more so for all you guys.
I fortunate that my circumstances are different at present and haven't been able to watch tge wolvrs as much as I did be able to hence I'm not aa affected by VAR going agaisnt us this season.
I feel yours frustrations reading all your posts.
One thing never change our love and pride for the wolves and extra the pride that has become connecting with all on this site.
You're all golden.

Up the mighty wolves.

16 May 2024 14:21:41
A petition from all PL supporters, Wolves and other clubs raising a stink. Whatever is needed to show the level of dissatisfaction to those responsible. I don't think it will get scrapped though as too much money has been pumped into it and rather than cut their losses I suspect they'll just keep pouring more and more into it. There is an expression though about polishing a t**d. It's still a t**d. Some technology such as Hawkeye is great, changes to stop players wasting time great, quicker throws all great, but VAR or it's interpretation is so poor it's virtually killed football as a spectacle.

16 May 2024 18:44:58
That's the statement of all statements, that needs ramming down the fas throat. Var has totally ruined football for the paying supporters. As a watchable game
If that's not enough to finally get rid of var. Then nothing will
The fans are paramount, whichever club they support.
And at the end of the day.
If they don't scrap it.
You all know what needs to be done
For the love of our beautiful game

15 May 2024 18:28:53
At last. We have tabled a proposal to scrap VAR which will be discussed on June 6th after being 'facillitated' by the prem shareholders board, who are against the proposal. It'll be an interesting debate I'm sure but I think we all know the outcome.
Interestingly the current vote on sky sports is 71% for the abolishment.

15 May 2024 19:27:50
Ask the fans
The only way I will renew
The fans must have the vote.

15 May 2024 23:09:36
For once Realist I couldn't agree more fella! Interesting poll on Sky for it, currently at 76% in favour of getting rid! I doubt it'll make a difference mind, the only thing that will is gates/viewing figures dropping until that happens they won't care what the fans take is on it!
Still though very proud that we are the ones putting it forward, at least in the years to come once the games gone beyond all enjoyment and recognition we can stand tall and say 'we tried to warn you'! Not much of a consultation I grant you, but better than nothing 👍🐺

15 May 2024 08:05:51
I'll say it, congratulations to all genuine vile fans on making the champions league. It can only raise the profile of the Midlands and its a turn around from 17th a couple of seasons ago. That didn't hurt me one bit!

15 May 2024 09:31:09
Full credit to them! it's something to emulate, that's for sure.

15 May 2024 09:36:56
Well said Abbey.let'e hope next season we can the midlands another side in Europe!

15 May 2024 09:45:12
Fairplay to villadaz and whacksttack congrats.

15 May 2024 12:29:47
Yeah congrats to them, nice to see a Midlands team in the Champions league.

15 May 2024 15:46:21
As much as it pains me to say it, congratulations to Villa. Unai Emery should be Manager of the Season but no doubt it will go to either Arteta or Pep.

15 May 2024 17:29:14
Pop on to their rumours site and congrats to Villadaz and whackattack

Just looking at the list of players who will be free agents at the end of June:

Ben Johnson, Coufal and Brownhill would be decent shouts.

14 May 2024 11:14:27
There could be some wealing and dealing between us and west ham Jas in the summer.
Johnson I read turned down long contract with west ham so he's a tidy option for us.

14 May 2024 13:40:51
I’d take Antonio off their hands. He knows where the back of the net is, and I think our style of play would suit him. Wouldn’t mind at all seeing him with the Old Gold shirt on.

14 May 2024 14:40:21
I would have agreed with you two seasons ago Half but sadly Antonio is now 34 and struggles to run for more than 15 mins! It's why WHU mostly seem to use him as an impact player these days.

14 May 2024 14:49:05
How about David Moyes?

14 May 2024 15:11:50
Jez, I really do think we have the most fickle fans in the country! A month ago peeps on here were worried that GON was off to United or Pool and now peeps want to replace him with Dave Moyes?! Get a grip people, incidentally you ask a WHU fan which they think is better, cause I know a few of them and many wanted GON to take over from Moyes! Give me strength! 🙄

14 May 2024 16:29:12
No need to change the manager. What we need is a bigger squad so that we can cope better with injuries or rotate the squad to keep them fresh.

14 May 2024 16:54:56
Ray you joking right?
Well I thought you was when I read it and laughed my balls off.
Lol wicked sense of humour if I'm right.

14 May 2024 17:58:44
Not much chance of that has eh lol

14 May 2024 19:57:59
Brownhill a shoe in only Wolves can f@#* this up 😩🪖🤡

15 May 2024 12:38:15
Che Adams. No thanks.

15 May 2024 16:06:25
Of course I'm joking Phil, gets people talking though. Last thing we need is a new manager. Just some decent signings to give him a chance, just get the feeling money is still in short supply this summer.

15 May 2024 16:48:47
Sound Ray lol it sure did get peeps talking.

My gut tells me the same money is still I short supply this summer.

Read that the club wants to be self sufficient so who knows how long that will be before we can have funds.
Fosun never know might plough some money in for signings.
We live in hope bit that to me is what footballs fans always do.

15 May 2024 17:54:08
Phil I suspect new investors is the only way we're going to get new money into the club for signings or anything else.

15 May 2024 18:04:05
Nice one Arddunby 👍
Gives more hope the more options on the table.

13 May 2024 13:17:05
Abbey : Might just be coincidence but they did sell Grasshoppers to LAFC, as for Fosun, what’s wrong with Mr Guangchang or Jeff Shi actually telling the fans what’s going on, what’s stopping them investing in their investment, we don’t know if the Chinese Government are restricting them in any way, shape or form, Wolves fans can’t keep making excuses for the owners of our Club based on absolutely nothing at all, someone has to take responsibility for all the poor transfer dealings which left us with a squad so short of quality the main reason relegation was avoided was the three promoted Clubs couldn’t compete and a couple of others fell foul of FFP /P&S or whatever it’s called this week. Next season could a team or two starting on minus points so at least we won’t be bottom on the opening day.

13 May 2024 13:42:40
So you want Fosun to apologise year after year for the same mistakes?

Which poor signings do you want them to apologise for? Silva? Guedes? Miranda?.

None of the poor signings affected us this season as they didn't play (yes granted Silva played a few times).

Over the last 2 seasons, who are the poor signings other than Guedes that needs answering for?

Lemina? Gomes? Sarabia? Hwang? Or Cunha?

Do Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal owners come out and tell the club about how they intend to invest?

I get you're frustrated but to blame the owners is just the simple way out.

13 May 2024 14:01:04
Hi everan, didn't know about grasshoppers, interesting.
Re Shi, I had tried to add a post below stating shi keeps quiet and explained that before as him not being mis-read, but that silence gives rise to him being mis-read and hence being the whipping boy.
We talk of the 'poor dealings' whilst over looking the good ones, Jota neves MGW and Cody all bringing much needed cash. Other acquisitions like mouts boly seiss patricio giving us the best team we've had in decades.
Maybe we've become complacent in our expectations since Nunos rise and success and not accepting of the obvious unexpected events of covid FFP etc.
Fosun may not be allowed to be public regarding Chinese trading and investments, that's not my area of concern. But they sprang into action when Lage didn't work out and securing lopetegui offered hope, he jacked at the last minute and GONs arrival surprised many of us. What he's done as been amazing, and fair comment the bottom three struggled with forest and Everton also deducted points. But, we are still in the prem, and could have been higher towards Euro qualification but for VAR and injuries.
So where do Fosun want to go now?
Stabilise a mid table team?or push on? Or in the current financial position sell up?
As I said before Hobbs GON and Shi will be having some interesting talks. I think the summer will be a critical point for Wolverhampton wanderers.

13 May 2024 15:11:27
Hi all. I wasn't expecting anything at the beginning of the season when we got left in the lurch except a long struggle, but Gon worked wonders. I agree if it hadn't been for the sparse squad and VAR cock ups we would have been in a euro position. So, Fosun, who could spend a little cash this summer without selling out best players. I think the 'fair play' rules are not fair because Big clubs are getting away with murder and run rings around officials. Great as it is to be the best and richest league in the world, but the money is spoiling the game.

13 May 2024 17:59:08
I think people know about Premier League spending restrictions.

13 May 2024 18:24:55
Yep sarabia is garbage and hwang is back to his garbage norm after the asia cup.lemina has been good until the coventry game and garbage since along with every1else and gomes will be sold for a big profit.cunha is proving his worth tho. but can't see anyway fwd with this squad when every1 on the bench is either garbage or15-18yrs old. wer asking for trouble lingterm and if u can't see that.WAKE UP

13 May 2024 19:47:48
How about you wake up Bux and stop being so negative, it's not good for you mate.

13 May 2024 21:52:39
I really can't understand all this negativity. 5-6 weeks ago we were quarter finals FA cup and pushing for a European spot. Who would have said that at the start of the season? Well certainly none of the experts or pundits as we were strong relegation candidates and we passed that many weeks ago. We've been on a terrible run due in short to our squad size with the injury list it really is that simple. Players utilised out of position because we only have kids on the bench and even when our injured senior players come back it takes weeks for them to get match fit and pick up with they left off. Combine this with these Asia and African cups, we've actually done reasonably ok, the limited squad has just caught up with us. What Wolves did last summer releasing Raul, Moutinio, Neves, Nunes, Traore etc was great. Many of these were great, but either had lost form, didn't really want to be at Wolves, or their wage demands were too high. I exclude Neves in all of this, but we needed to sell to avoid FFP. We need 3-4 quality additions and we have a team capable of competing with the higher teams in this league and we are in a much better position than many teams for next season. Let's see what the summer brings but I'm optimistic Fosun will support GON to build and grow this squad.

13 May 2024 22:22:55
Bux you said pretty much the EXACT same thing in 2022, garbage team, going to struggle yada yada! I've asked before but yet to EVER get an answer, who do you actually rate that's played for our club in the last five years?! Feels like your going for a broken clock approach sooner or later you'll be right and we will struggle. At that point I imagine you'll be delighted to FINALLY be correct?! They call us 'supporters' for a reason ya know?! 🤣

15 May 2024 08:38:20
We have had an end to a season which has been hampered by injury, and players knackered by overperforming for anew manager to keep us clear of relegation, plus playing the top teams in our run in, and boy has that brought the whingers out. I would have given a lot for a mid table finish 3 days before the season. Well done all at Wolves, an overall great performance.

15 May 2024 17:34:12
Sorry Bux,
If I wake up my dream seeing wolves successful will be over.

Each to their own their outlooks.
