Fabrizio Romano saying a deal has been agreed for Fabio Silva to join Rangers on loan. No agreement in place to make it permanent.

HalfTimePie

1.) 28 Dec 2023 15:06:59
Looks definite HTP.
Other reports saying Rangers are paying his wages, paying a small fee, with no obligation to buy.
Hopefully it works for the lad. Not his fault the silly fee and wages agreed by Shi.

2.) 28 Dec 2023 15:37:53
Surely there's a no.9 coming in to replace him? I get the impression GON doesn't fancy Sasa much either.

{Ed002's Note - Wolves want to add a striker in January. Mo Amoura, Marcos Acuna and Boulaye Dia are among the options.}

3.) 28 Dec 2023 16:06:41
Interesting that they're exploring the Marcos Acuna option, I know RAN is off to the AFCON, but there's Bueno and Toti Gomes that can play at LWB.

4.) 28 Dec 2023 17:23:42
Hopefully Fabio will get some experience in a sort of tier 1.5 league as well as a little European football in the ko stages of the Europa league.

5.) 28 Dec 2023 18:05:58
Last chance saloon Fabio hope he comes back full of confidence and a success if he cannot score in Glasgow he never will

6.) 28 Dec 2023 18:40:20
I really hope he finds some form and confidence at Rangers and he comes back a better player.

7.) 29 Dec 2023 06:23:18
Firstly no blame should be attached to Silva, not his fault Shi has wasted £35million in fees and £4million each year on wages.
One of the main reasons why Shi created the FFP situation for the Club.
This loan is important for the lad, potentially help his confidence, as he should score a few at that level.
Also important for Wolves, if he does start scoring, hopefully we may get some money back on a reasonable transfer fee.
Intriguing, as strong speculation that Kalajdzic is also being moved on.
Suggests there are firm plans for replacements.

8.) 29 Dec 2023 13:10:43
I’ve said before, on here, and at games, Silva simply isn’t good enough. He will never make the grade as a premier number 9. I’ve actually concentrated on him when he’s played. His positioning in the box, for corners, his runs and movement, simply not up to par. I also watched some of his games out on loan, the first time he came up against decent defence, which happened to be West Ham in Europe, he was back to square one. No disrespect to Scottish football, but yes he will probably score up there. Hopefully he does and it ups his value, because even if he scores up there, he will still struggle back down here. We really do need to off load the lad.

9.) 29 Dec 2023 17:43:20
Not so sure he'll score in Scotland either. Refs allow a more physical game up there and Silva unfortunately looks a Sunday league player. Shame for him as he comes across as a really nice guy, but ruined by silly money amd huge expectations that can not be fulfilled.

10.) 29 Dec 2023 18:00:05
I just don't understand why everyone always has a go at Jeff Shi and blame him for the signings that haven't worked our for us. I don't think he scouted Fabio Silva personally. That would have been the job of the scouting team that Nuno put in place. They would have had to convince Shi that Silva was a worthwhile signing. All Jeff does is sign the cheques based on what the scouting team tell him is and isn't worthwhile.

11.) 29 Dec 2023 19:59:21
Let’s reserve judgement until after Rangers loan. Silva has always shown glimpses of potential. Brave decision to go to Rangers. Tough environment and massively under the microscope. If he comes through that he will have credit in the bank and can return to us or move on with a good transfer fee.
Rangers moveisa wi, win for us, Saar as I can see.

12.) 30 Dec 2023 07:02:20
Jas, sorry, Shi was responsible for agreeing the the ridiculous fee and the eye-watering wages for an 18-year old,
You don't need to understand any thing about football to realise it was an unrealistic financial risk.
100% his mistake.

13.) 30 Dec 2023 09:40:05
In that case Rugeley, Jeff Shi should be heralded as a genius. After all, he paid the high fees and wages for Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Moutinho, Jimenez and Cunha. Or does the recruitment team take the credit.

14.) 30 Dec 2023 09:57:14
Smart move to send him on loan again. If he can get a few goals he'll be a far more saleable asset than he is right now

15.) 30 Dec 2023 10:12:25
Jas, Neves, Jota, Moutinho and Jimenez all brought to the Club by Mendes at the time Dalrymple was still CEO.
Cunha was a Lopetequi and Hobbs signing.
When Shi kicked Dalrymple out and took direct control we had 6/7 bad transfer windows.
It is only the last 2 when we have stopped the freefall and money wasting.
Credit goes to Hobbs, Lopetequi and O'Neil for a steadying of the ship.

16.) 30 Dec 2023 12:37:36
Rugeley, Jeff Shi is the CEO and gas been ever since Fosun took over. You can't pick and choose who and when he gets the blame. The fact is the scouting team identify the players not the CEO.

Was Darylmple that good for us in comparison. Isn't he responsible for Cutrone, Miranda, Afobe (2nd time), Oniangue, Mir, Stevenson, Yang Yang, Marshall, Vinagre, Campana, Dadashov, Vallejo and Jordao.

Wasn't he also defrauding the club hence why he was placed on gardening leave.

17.) 30 Dec 2023 12:52:11
New information on Dalrymple for me.
Seems to be doing OK at Harlequins.

18.) 30 Dec 2023 16:29:21
Totally disagree Rugeley. Fabio has great instincts in terms of run and positioning. Where he has gotten grief is in taking advantage of said positioning.

Has any player gotten as open as he continuously does. He’s an A+ in terms of movement and instincts (strength has hurt him though). The finishing will hopefully catch up.

19.) 30 Dec 2023 17:52:21
I accept we have different opinions.
Whatever, he can't be blamed for the situation.
Wishing him, you and all associated with Wolves All Good Things in 2024.

20.) 30 Dec 2023 18:27:23
Agree Jas about Shi always seen it how I see it is.
Pointless posting what I see/think as always falls on deaf ears regarding Shi and fosun.
We winning of late, Neto back GON to sign his own players in January.

Silva good luck at Rangers.
Needs a run in the team to get his wish of playing and contributing to his team.

HNY.

You beat me to it HTP. Apparently, over failure to submit their accounts on time and having similar losses to Everton when they were last in the Prem.

That would mean starting the season with a negative points total if they get promoted and are found guilty, of course. On the upside Wolves wouldn't start that season in 20th, I suppose.

2.) 22 Mar 2024 06:27:59
Just a question of how many points?

3.) 22 Mar 2024 06:33:37
Lol longmynd Wycombe out of the running for premier league promotion this season.?
HALFTIMEPIE/longmynd for sure we'll be starting the season with an advantage over 1 promotes team points wise, BUTwe are going to be interested at the top half and hopefully further up than thinking about tge lower end of the league.

Re feed below about rest of the season.
My view is similar in that the wind was knocked out of my sails with coventry and result performance.
I said see all in 2 weeks but if I am a good man I fit the saying you can't keep a good man down for long.

Abbey its a whopper of a super fresh crisp morning tge birds are singing the weekend is nigh no work this weekend we've smashed the overload of work we've been under this last month.
Happy days.
I'm still in the process of selling my property waiting for solicitors and then can go ahead and by my dream pad.ive been working towards it seems like ages but getting closer.
My bro is sound but he gets confused a lot my sil and I will make sure again that his season ticket will be there for him but he thinks he got no money and may not want to renew.

Next season I believe recruitment is key ore so than could be and with hobbs our fanbase is more together as one on this issue of which makes my life with wolves loads better.

Come on you wolves.

4.) 22 Mar 2024 16:39:10
Good for you phil, was overcast down here but sun shining now and feels more upbeat.
Next year is going to see a few new faces I reckon, and the departure of some of our favourites. Can't be helped just hope we progress.
I can't really get into these international friendlies although I hope Gomez get a run against England. Shirts and crosses have taken over them game it seems.
Anyway can't wait until the vile next week, don't know what team we'll have but if Dawson back I think we'll take something.
Enjoy your off time Phil and best wishes to your bro.

5.) 24 Mar 2024 10:16:08
Thanks Abbey you take care pal and all of elder age.
Fingers crossed we can all celebrate something together.
But All else fails we can enjoy trying.

Re people slating Lemina today. Yes he had a poor game but surely that was down to GON’s tactics. What’s the point of playing one of our best players, wide in the left wing? Even worse was giving him no or very little service all match. I said at half time we needed to push Mario up front and more central, as he did against Fulham. He was, for a lot of the game today, a wasted bystander. Now for Fraser, yes he had a poor match but for so called fans to come on here and say he’s no good is either a disgrace or laughable. There’s a big big difference between being ‘not good enough’ and ‘not good enough Today’. Fraser was the latter- not good enough today. He will come good, he’s still learning his trade at this level. Stick with him, get behind him, not on his back. He may or may not turn in to a prolific scorer like Jimenez, but he’ll come good and be a big part of the squad

HalfTimePie

1.) 16 Mar 2024 19:58:53
Call me a disgrace all you want but I'm entitled to my opinion. I know what I saw.

Circumstances have dictated that he gets game time but he clearly needs time to develop.

Only absentee against Villa will be Neto so hopefully we can kick on.

2.) 16 Mar 2024 20:08:51
Halftimepie, agree completely on Lemina, but have to disagree on Fraser. Unfortunately he lacks speed and presence. We were put under pressure constantly as he failed to hold the ball up or reach easy passes. That is in all the games he's played not just today. Chiwome looked far more interested although like rabbit in headlights at times. The big issue is we lack quality outside the main 15-16 players and the drop in quality after them is vast. Players are needed in the summer. Coventry deserved their win today and we need to lick our wounds and hope some of our injured players return for Villa.

3.) 17 Mar 2024 00:52:39
Lemina has been incredible this season. He is up there for player of the season for me. This was unfortunately a game to far for us given our small squad and injuries. If we had the full squad we would have won today. The boys are trying, but sometimes you can’t always play amazing.

4.) 17 Mar 2024 06:24:40
My tuppence worth.
Lemina didn't make any more mistakes than others in the team but looked ineffective because he was played out of position instead of the position where he has excelled all season so let's not rip him. Gomes wasn't as effective without Lemina working beside him so the disruption to team efficiency was magnified as a result.

In regards to Fraser the occasions where he was fed a decent pass or a ball played into space were virtually nil and he was reduced to chasing around searching for scraps. Let's face it, a depleted squad, players out of position, few opportunities to make effective substitutions and a Coventry team that turned up for the match were always going to make it a tough day so let's not start slating individuals after all that they have done so far this season.

5.) 17 Mar 2024 06:58:46
Gotta be honest I think GON got his tactics wrong. Lemina looked uncomfortable he was getting the ball and visibly asking for players to recieve it as no one seemed to be in linking positions. He did what was asked of him bit couldn't perform as he'd want to.

Fraser, well he's a young lad thrown into a massive game. Nerves no doubt had a role but the lad was attempting to make the move but we dallied on trying to release him or Coventry were blocking any attempts which more often than not were coming from sarabia, who I thought was the only one showing genuine 'nous' and purpose in the first half. It was a bad day in the office mainly but I blame GON for it. That said, we came back and took the lead, at that point the players should have had the ability to hold the lead. Our ball boy seemed to recognise that and took the brunt of Robbins 'celebration' at the end, for which Robbins as now apologised.

However Coventry earned the win, we didn't deserve it and if it eernt for Sa and some awful finishing by the sky blues we'd have been slaughtered. Lemina has been a tower of strength for us and Frasers starting out on a promising career, please don't pin this defeat on them.

6.) 17 Mar 2024 07:06:12
Lemina was very poor for me yesterday. I know we're all perfect in hindsight but I couldn't understand why GON didn't put Traore on in the final 10 minutes. He has such energy and great at breaking up play. We allowed Coventry to come at us and got exactly what we deserved. Hopefully the players will regroup and put this right against Villa.

7.) 17 Mar 2024 12:06:16
I agree lemina. Is a super player, i'm not saying he isn't
But you can't get away from the fact
That he was very poor yesterday
I remember the legendary Roy walkers
Catchphrase, " say what you see"
And that's exactly what most saw
No one should be criticised for their view,
We all want success at this club
If I have upset anyone, I apologise
Not intended
Coyw

8.) 17 Mar 2024 12:17:34
Il tell you now.you can see if a player is going to come good and just like silva fraser wont.simple as that and as for lemina.hes a pro and should be able to adapt.he spent90mins getting in the way of his own players.that said the defence should be slated for all3goals. Poor positioning and defending all round. or maybe this is all just bitter dissapointment

9.) 17 Mar 2024 12:39:39
I agree Abbey and said it all along. Imo the tactics were off. Not necessarily the players' fault and it’s a bit harsh to jump on individual players backs when the whole team were poor. Gon almost says it himself after the game. He said we pushed defensive players up but then needed defensive players at the end but didn’t have any on the bench.

Why not move the defensive players back and have some faith in players actually playing their preferred position. Where did the game management go at the end, why didn’t we hold the ball up more the ball boy could see it so why couldn’t the profesional players and manager. It’s an opportunity missed, I think it will help us push on and hopefully gon learns from it too. Why are we signing players like lemina’s bro etc if they aren’t even good enough to come on against Coventry.

10.) 17 Mar 2024 13:10:52
Afternoon all, now the dusts settled a bit, yesterday was just a bad day at office, when you can't get the ball.to.stick with the forwards you're always going to be put under a bit of pressure, that said the defence was very poor, the continued runs by Coventry caused us all sort of problems, but the main issue of not picking up and closing down players in and around the penalty area cost us dearly, a win for us would have been harsh on Coventry.

On another day with a full team, it would have been another outcome, I'd say.
Would surprise me. Now that we go and take all 3 points at the Villa in 2 weeks, Bellgarde and Cuhna hopefully back in the side.

11.) 17 Mar 2024 14:37:29
I hope we do bounce back sydneywolf, my worries are that that may have burst our bubble this year and the lads energy and won't for a win will diminish. They'll have something to prove now tho I guess.

12.) 17 Mar 2024 16:12:01
I hear ya Abbey, I think the international break has come at a good time for a few to get over knocks etc, and hopefully a couple of players back, Dawson was a big miss yesterday

09 Mar 2024 19:50:12
Super Mario was immense today. Was there a single blade of grass he didn’t touch? First half, he did, what Mario does- blocked shots, tackled well, broke up any attacking play. Second half, having been pushed forward after the break, he was awesome. His running, passing, creating chances and openings was incredible. He’s a beast, and showed again today his quality. He loves playing for our club- we love watching him every week. After Mouts and Neves he is the easily our best signing.

3.) 22 Feb 2024 17:01:08
A great shame, very sorry to hear of his passing. A very good goalkeeper and from what I've heard one of the nice guys. Only 67 makes those of us of a certain age look over our shoulders. R.I.P Paul.

4.) 22 Feb 2024 17:21:26
Highlight has to Wembley, RIP Paul Bradshaw, condolences to friends and family. Thanks for the good times.

5.) 22 Feb 2024 22:08:25
Tragic indeed, at just 67 years makes it worse. A great 'keeper and all round nice guy, condolences to his family and friends RIP Paul.

6.) 22 Feb 2024 22:14:32
Unassuming bloke and top 'keeper. Often used to see him on train/at W'ton station in the early 80's.

Sad news, remember him, a great wolf. Such an early age too. Rip.

I see Michael Beale has been sacked again, by Sunderland. After only 9 weeks, and 12 games at the helm. Think it’s pretty fair to say we dodged a bullet with that one. And looking at GON, what he’s achieving, our results and quality of play, reckon we dodged the entire magazine not just a bullet.

One of them thought he was a superstar and didn’t want to be here. The other one knows he’s learning his trade still, and wants to be here- wants to be part of what GON is planning. Plus, less than £4.5 million for Doyler and a decent little profit on sulky Nunes, I think we’ve definitely done well.

The only problem with that though Rated, the clubs who have the ‘clout’ the power if you like, to stand up and make a difference, are the very same clubs who are, or appear to be, protected by the very same Premier League. The big boys won’t upset the men in charge, the men in charge don’t want to upset their star teams.

I think Ian Wright said it all on MOTD. firstly he ‘apologised’ to wolves, then as the conversation was ending, he said- gutted for ya, gutted for Wolves. No logical explanation at all why the Max goal was disallowed. As Abbeywolf rightly pointed out, not one West Ham player made any appeal. It stinks
