Something for the Coady debate. In past times the requirement of a CB was to tackle, head, intimidate and hoof. There were plenty of contenders. The modern game now requires you to distribute and intimidation has almost gone. This has reduced the experts to a handful even in the Premier League. Look at England- Maguire, Stones, Mings. Perhaps some of you would prefer Maguire to Coady but certainly not the other two. Coady is a leader, motivator and excellent distributor of the ball and agreed he has errors in him but so do most of the other CB's in the PL. He does need Boly to fill a few gaps, but Nuno agrees he is the first name on the teamsheet.

Agreed Bobs, I reckon like me you have also read this Sky article which showed if nothing else how others see our captain fantastic! 👍

Dendonker is always going to divide opinion. He is one of those players that managers love as they provide lots of options when injuries occur but does not appear to do much except pop up for the odd goal (hero) or give away a pen (villain) . Depending on your age Martin Peters, Gareth Barry or Fabian Delph come to mind. Ideally you want someone who is defensively sound can create stuff and can run eg Bryan Robson or Gerrard. Unfortunately they don't come along that often so managers settle for in between. If we get a Robson or Gerrard I would be happy but probably not going to happen.

If bookmakers are anything to go by we are safe. Nuno on the drift to 13/ 2 and the fav is Allegri. Let's hope so.

ok let's calm things down a bit. PT sees things as black or white. I have to say most of the time he is right it's just the way he says it that gets people upset. Bonatini-he is not a premier striker, but he does ok coming on as a link up midfielder if that's what Nuno wants, no point in sending him out on loan it won't improve him. Coady is an excellent sweeper but the jury's out on whether he is top quality in a back 4 we just don't know. Costa, Jota and Gibbs White are all young and therefore lack consistency-one game they will look great the next anonymous that's what you get with most youngsters. We do need another striker but in Nuno's team it will be to challenge Jimenez NOT replace him as he only ever plays one. Finally I am 100% certain that PT will be yelling the team on regardless as we all will.

I don't think Nuno really wants an out and out striker. It just doesn't fit his way of play. He prefers hold up guys who can link with midfield. Afobe was an afterthought under pressure to see us through to promotion. Even if he did want one there are only 2 in the premier league who scored 10 or more last season we could afford Murray and Wood. There are over a dozen who failed. The rest are £50m+. So does he gamble on an untried striker at that level or continue his way of playing? As a previous poster pointed out there are many midfielders in the PL who scored 10+. Let's hope we have some. I think we have.
