We always play better sitting back and countering sides. Games like this and Burnley are always the same but at least we've picked up 4 points. It's a decent return. Might be jinxing us but apart from Liverpool and Brighton at the start of the season we've only ever lost by one goal in all our defeats in the prem so far. We've got to remember the mood at the start of the season, we're currently closer to Europe than relegation. I'm positive about the club again and think with a decent window or two O'Neil can take us further up the league.

You are correct. I always want to win and get three points but know this is unrealistic. We have been playing more disciplined and not taking too many risks when playing the teams at the bottom because we tend to usually get nothing from these games. I think when we play westham and Chelsea we will be more free flowing but will revert back to this against Everton trying to scrape points to ensure our safety. I think if we can amass another 10 points over the festive season we wil basically be safe and can have a go more during the next half of the season. GON is just trying to give us stability and hopefully as it’s been stated we are after a striker and winger in Jan. Just need to increase the speed and we will be moving along nicely.

Correct Ukrainewolf

3.) 10 Dec 2023 20:09:21
Yes Vbwolf at the moment it looks as if about 30 points will be enough to stay up.

I know we're not converting as many as we should but we're 13th in the league for goals scored, it's not as if we're bottom. You can win a game of football 1-0, plenty of top teams don't score that many goals. Our main problem is we don't seem to be able to control a game of football. Like today we spend too mush time chasing the opposition, too many turn overs, we simply don't have many ball players in the team anymore, we had coady as the ball playing centre back and neves and moutinho in the middle of the pitch who could control the tempo of a game. We have spells where we look in control but we can't see out a full 90, now add in the fact the keeper and defence looks shaky and you will struggle. When lop left I said let's hope there's three worse teams, I haven't changed my opinion.

We're all doom and gloom tonight, but I think we could mention what a wonderful individual goal neto scored. A bright light on a miserable day. His persistence to chase gomez pass and then waltz in and finish with such aplomb was the very top class. Had we had 'strikers available he most probably won't have done it. Makes me think?

2.) 24 Sep 2023 14:54:56
Too good for Wolves as we will probably find out in the January window.

03 Sep 2023 22:23:44
Honestly don't know why people are shocked at results so far, under Bruno we were rock bottom. What lopetegui did was a minor miracle, we now have Garry O'Neil, no Adama, no Raul, no Neves, no podence etc. People saying top half don't understand the game, I told my old man this is going to be a very tough season and we just need to hope there are three worse teams. Hopefully some of the fans who were happy to see lopetegui go are now starting to realise. On paper our team is better than the three that came up so I'm not exactly panicking yet but if this time next month we're still playing the same and not picking up points I will start!

GON says there is room for improvement no s**t Sherlock, 3 major issues 1) playing out from the back don't with Sa in goal that is just stupid 2) play the ball to feet, not slightly be hind or underhit 3) Take that number nine shirt off Silva it is an insult to previous centre forwards of which he most most most certainly is not

2.) 04 Sep 2023 09:12:39
So after 4 games, 3 of which have been played away, you want Silva dropped/sold.

I agree that Sasa and Cunha will prove to be our most productive partnership but as long as Silva is our player and Sasa is not 100% fit, we need to back him, not get on his back.

3.) 04 Sep 2023 10:19:55
Does make you wonder if there are any other number 9s in the league who have failed to score recently?
Leave Fabio to get on with his job, when he gets the service he will get the goals.

4.) 04 Sep 2023 10:22:10
Sadly Jas, it has been £35m, pus £8m in wages wasted by Shi. His incompetence over the last 3 years is the reason we have financial issues.
Not the kid's fault.but he is neither a Striker or Premership standard.

5.) 04 Sep 2023 10:27:42
Jas M you have chosen a team to play Liverpool in your earlier post and you have dropped Fabio.

6.) 04 Sep 2023 10:34:41
Couldn't get a ticket for the game and haven't seen it on the box so can't comment on the game itself but perhaps we need to remind ourselves of where we are.
Ukraine makes a valid point no need to panic at this stage. Man U and Brighton were highly unlikely to produce a point, we needed to win and did at Everton and whilst a point would have been nice at Palace it not essential to staying up.
Anything from Liverpool and City will be bunce and then we need to beat Luton.
We are not a good side - 3 years of total mismanagement ensure that - we don't have Nuno or JL anymore and so we need to temper expectations and get behind the team.
I think there are more than 3 teams worse than us but not a lot. We are rebuilding most of the squad is now young and very inexperienced.
If GO isn't the man to do the job - and be fair he has only had a few weeks so far and has inherited a squad in flux with pretty major changes occuring over those weeks - hopefully we can find someone to see us through.
Note this rebuild is not a 6 month job or even a 2 year job. The damage done to the club is root and branch and will take several years to recover but all we can do is get behind that recovery and hope we have enough to retain our Prem place through it - if we don't the recovery probably takes many many more years.
Tks Jeff!

7.) 04 Sep 2023 10:43:22
Time to face it Silva is not a premiere league player, he will do ok in these soft European leagues but he isn’t cut out for the prem, barn door and banjo springs to mind.

8.) 04 Sep 2023 11:14:29
Sadly, our best finisher was on the bench yesterday, And he's a defender.

Teenwolf? I've watched him a fair bit, not just for us but for PSV, for Portugal u21s, and while he clearly has 'talent' I just don't see a top striker in there- movement. anticipation, that 'strikers instinct'. I'd love to be proved wrong but I don't see it. Personally I'd rather have kept Costa- remember he'd not kicked a ball for months when we signed him and he was just getting up to speed towards the end. And he's got that match game smart that we saw from Edouard yesterday.

As some have mentioned below, I'd prefer us to back to a back three with wing-backs. OK, the names have changed but it's the format we had the most success with in the Prem- I think we've struggled since we moved away from it. And yeah, Doc should be in there.

I think the best we can aim for this season is mid-table obscurity.

9.) 04 Sep 2023 13:29:15
How many chances does Silva need Jas mate?
We cann't afford to carry him, he was poor last time around for us and he still is, maybe the Dutch and Belgium leagues are his level unfortuantly.

10.) 04 Sep 2023 15:30:36
E, if you read my earlier post in this thread, I've stated that I think Sasa and Cunha are our best front. I may have elected not to put Silva in my team but that doesn't mean I'm not going to support him. I've also left Neto out of my team. It doesn't mean I don't rate him.

11.) 04 Sep 2023 15:49:45
What was the alternative to Silva? Jimenez? Has he not gone 26 games without scoring.
Remember last season when a lot of fans thought Hwang wasn't good enough (myself included). Sometimes players need time. And please don't say Silva has been given a fair crack of the whip. He wasn't ready when Jimenez suffered the horrendous injury. When he left us on loan last season I admit he wasn't anywhere near good enough but he has played and improved.

Some of you may be ready to write him off but I seem to recall that last week, the same people were saying that he needed to be given a chance after his display against Blackpool.

If he ain't getting the service, he ain't going to score.

12.) 04 Sep 2023 16:25:24
I hope you're right Jas i'm willing to give him a bit more time.

01 Sep 2023 02:19:19
Che Adam's has averaged 6.5 goals a season over the past 4 in the premier league. That's with ward-prowse deliveries too. If he can get into double figures with us I'll be over the moon. Still think Sasa is our best bet for goals if he can stay injury free but time will tell.

Ukrainewolf

1.) 01 Sep 2023 09:49:00
Agree Ukraine I see Sasa as the focal point with Adams as an alternative, either of these to be partnered with Cunha or Fabio, assuming Hwang is out injured for a while.

Lop will be gone and that's our season up in the air. Anyone who blames him is crazy, why would he come here to leave after half a season? The board have mislead him, it's quite clear what has happened. The owners are trying their hardest to mess the whole thing up, if we do get Gary O'Niel then what? What if we're in a relegation scrap by Christmas, and we can't offer a top manager a contract because of ffp? They should be doing everything they can to keep him but I get the vibe the ego's are too big to admit fault. We need new owners not a new manager.

Ukrainewolf

1.) 08 Aug 2023 18:24:52
He is on a contract, let him leave it he is so determined and save the compensation payments.

2.) 08 Aug 2023 18:45:24
Why has this happened now? Who is at fault? Rumours are that JL wanted away when he knew he wouldn't have the money to buy. But to happen now is a disgrace and Wolves are a laughing bunch again. Just can't understand the mentality of Wolves owners!

3.) 08 Aug 2023 19:22:28
What a stupid comment!
Why on earth would these owners ‘do their best to mess it up’?
They’ve just spent the money he wanted in January and now have to abide by the same rules everyone else does!

4.) 08 Aug 2023 19:38:17
Dont want beale either!

5.) 08 Aug 2023 20:40:31
Tommo1970 it’s a figure of speech ? it means they are out of their depth and don’t know what they’re doing. I don’t actually think that a business would purposely ruin their own asset. The question is did they inform lop at the time that once he had spent that in jan, there would be nothing left for the summer and in-fact would have to sell players with out replacements….I highly doubt it.

6.) 08 Aug 2023 20:59:16
And what if they didn’t?
Everyone seems to say he is a world class coach but when he can’t spend lots of money on players he don’t want to play!

How about he gets on with his job that he is paid a fortune for and under contract to and sets his team up properly for the first game. How about he uses his extensive contacts to unearth some young talent from Spain or bring in a few loan players and gets us to mid table as surely a world class coach would. We have a better squad than the 3 coming up plus Bournemouth, Forest, Everton, Palace. A fee loan players and will do ok.

I personally think he has a Saudi team lined up and he has done his best to get sacked so he can get his wallet filled. If we had £15m to pay him and his staff to six off then we should have used it to buy a player!

Over the next 12 months you will see lots of clubs in trouble and we will thank our lucky stars we did things this properly at this point.

Alright lads, first time posting on here, Gibbs white is a tricky one. Knew first hand his driver when he was a youth player and apparently he was arrogant, maybe he thinks he’s too good for us?I don’t really care as long as he’s producing on the pitch. Which for us so far he rarely has. If he doesn’t want to be here then let him move on. Just a bit worried that the squad is getting thinner and thinner

Re Raul and Adama I noticed too neither have done anything since leaving, donk too can’t get a game for the vile, even Neves has only registered one assist in the Saudi pro league, I thought he’d be getting them for fun. I’d still have him back though

First time I actually think we’re down, hope I’m wrong but the performances are probably the worst out of the bottom 6/7 teams. Relied on our defence so much since we came up and now it’s no where near what it was, combine that with attacking players who can’t score (look at Cunha, hwang, podence, sarabia average goal tallies before they came to us) not exactly surprising now they’re in a more difficult league. It’s still in our hands to get out but we’ve just bought in the wrong players for a while now and they don’t have the bottle or ability to get us out. If we do scrape it then we need a serious rebuild in the summer, fingers crossed we make it

My mate is West Ham and he’s gutted he’s going, he said since they turned it around he’s been their best centre back by far, scores from set pieces as well. If he plays like he’s played for them the last two seasons then he is 100% good enough for us.

The best Costa has played is when he came on as a sub against West Ham, use him as an impact player for 20/30 mins at the end of a game if needed. Don’t think he can handle a full game or even 70/80 mins now
