Word coming out including Liam Keen, that Sellars has been sacked/departing. Apparently offered a different role but refused so discussing pay off. COYW

According to Sports Witness (not Witless ?)

“Wolverhampton Wanderers appointment of Fran Garagarza to Julen Lopetegui’s backroom staff is an attempt to ‘have more freedom’ from Jorge Mendes in the transfer market.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the appointment of the Spanish coach to Lopetegui’s team today.

The new Wolves boss confirmed this week that Garagarza and his son, Daniel Lopetegui, would be a part of the scouting network at Molineux under his leadership.

Both are somewhat unknown entities given they’ve spent their careers in Spain thus far and Estadio provide a background on Garagarza today.

They label him as an ‘elite sporting director’, stating that he was one of the ‘most sought-after’ managers in Spanish football, where he is ‘highly-regarded’ for his work.

This comes from his ten-year spell in charge at Eibar, where they enjoyed the best period of their existence as a regular fixture in La Liga.

His work there earned him plenty of praise and suitors, with Real Zaragoza having been keen and Betis also considering him before deciding on Antonio Cordón instead.

Now he’s at Wolves, and that move is seen as an effort by Julen Lopetegui to ‘have more freedom’ in the transfer market and not be ‘constrained’ by Jorge Mended.

He is de facto sporting director at Wolves because their owners, Fosun, have a good relationship with him and his agency.

That’s seen a number of Portuguese players turn up at Molineux down the years, but Lopetegui wants to move beyond that and broaden the scope at the club.

Garagarza has been brought in to do so and Estadio say he is ‘undoubtedly’ an appointment that will help the club ‘turn around’ under their new manager.

Just when we thought things were looking great at our club again . it gets BETTER ??. This really is the news all Wolves fans wanted. Thanks for posting South Banker, and Debbie, a well informative post- thank you

3.) 19 Nov 2022 07:05:07
Oh, Happy Days!
The architect of our demise FINALLY out of the Club.
Since Sellars was appointed "Technical Director" after the sacking Dalrymple at the end of 2019, so many bad decisions relating to football were made. Starting with money being wasted on Semedo and Silva.
It is no coincidence the wonderful "Pack" culture and success both started to disappear. Santo let down in his final season, Lage not supported in his 2 first transfer windows, Coady allowed to leave, in the those 5 transfer windows, lack of goals not addressed, mismanagement of development players etc etc.
I know I have banged on about this since the waste of £65+ million on Semedo and Silva, but this news feels like the equivalent of us buying a £75 million striker!
You got there eventually Fosun, thank you.
ps
I guess Fosun now have to decide how to use Shi and his role going forward.if he is retained.

4.) 19 Nov 2022 12:37:57
I think Sellars was probably elevated out of his depth. In fairness at U23 and youth level recruitment hasn't been the disaster that first team level has and the u23's (sorry its u21 now) are now in the top division and seem to be holding there own. If he was offered another role it sounds like Sellars was not to keen on staying himself.

All of that said it might appear to some that Garagarza is being bought in to oversee Daniel Lopetegui's progression in the role. Long term I have doubts about that arrangement. Football management is a precarious occupation will we be looking for a whole new scouting network when time is eventually called on J Lo's tenure of the hot seat.

5.) 19 Nov 2022 12:45:48
I wonder was Sellars a type Director of Football? in an unofficial capacity - maybe he saw an opportunity when Laurie Dalrymple left? it’s very hard to say.

But as the article I copied and pasted above suggests that Wolves won’t be as reliant on Jorge Mendes clientele in terms of recruitment. I really do hope this is the case.

One thing did cross my mind (now this is a thought and thought only) was Sellars getting any cash from the buying of JM’s players? this isn’t uncommon in football, this rumour has followed Gary Monk from his managerial time at Swansea to Middlesbrough to B/ham City (though Monk heavily denies this). It is feasible that SS was in Jeff Shi’a ear about certain players that were very over valued. Ultimately I believe JS put too much stock in the advise given from SS.

What is clear is that Wolves / Fosun are rectifying the wrongs. Have a nice weekend all, Wolves ay we!

6.) 19 Nov 2022 15:28:54
Sellars didn't have the ability to do the same role as Darymple, his strength was working in the youth set up, being at the high table in premier league is a big gig, Shi has to foot some of the blame for allowing it to unravel so much.
As said a few weeks back, I had a good feeling that the tide was to turn, it seems we now have the correct structure in place, that seems to be all Loputegi's doing, here's a very smart and strong willed manager who wants the right people in the right places singing from the same hymn sheet.
I think we are in for a good second half of season

7.) 19 Nov 2022 16:38:15
Easy to criticize Sellars but have to ask yourself who gave him such an important position. Being involved with Academy football is light years away from the job he was given. Makes.e wonder if the thinking was to get rid of Dalrymple then promote replacement in house, takes a wage off the books and gives Shi more power. Director of Football is is much too important to trust a novice.

8.) 20 Nov 2022 20:36:52
Scott was a victim of the Peter principle simple as that .
Moving away from Jorge no chance . But Wolves have tried extending there scouting more widespread but have failed due to internal structure so naturally fall back to gestifute for signings . New structure to find more hidden gems . Most will end up in gestifute stable

Peter Bosz the latest to supposedly have had an interview. Ex Dortmund, Ajax and Lyon manager. Definitely feels like they're taking their time with this one, maybe because we didn't have a plan b ?

Not exactly filling me with confidence.just go all out for poch.coz at this rate wel be linked with mike bassett next!

2.) 18 Oct 2022 09:52:12
Listening to talk sport this morning there is a muttering that poch is wanted by villa if stevie g can’t turn the results, he has 2 games to do this and poch is the man they want. Only saying what talk sport reported this morning.

3.) 18 Oct 2022 10:47:07
I read that yday.so why aren't we interested in him instead of all these deadheads wer being linked with.?

4.) 18 Oct 2022 11:05:37
As all above, why can't we set our sights higher?
Simple theory, Sh and Sellars just don't have the right connections!

5.) 18 Oct 2022 11:40:28
A manager like Poch would not tolerate an incompetent like Sellars, and unfortunately Sellars knows that.

6.) 18 Oct 2022 12:01:16
Perhaps we are not interested in him. However, how do you know that we have not approached him? How would you know that he hasn't said no to us and instead wants to bide his time and wait for a big-hitting Champions League club to approach him. How do you know he would say yes to Villa? You are making some very sweeping assumptions based upon very dodgy "information".

7.) 18 Oct 2022 12:52:37
Wolves have spoken to Poch already.

8.) 18 Oct 2022 23:13:03
Lads were not getting a top manager in, they don’t want to pay, lage one of the lowest in the league, they’re trying to get someone in on the cheap as usual

Huge signing.

2.) 16 Aug 2022 09:11:47
Fabrizio Romano is the new Jorge Mendes of the rumour world! He isn't wrong very often, if at all!
'Huge signing for Wolves' - his words

15 Aug 2022 22:24:25
Sources in Portugal saying Nunes deal is done, 45m + 5m add ons.

Same news on Italian TV, Fabrizio Romano and he never commits unless it's right!

2.) 15 Aug 2022 23:21:22
Nunes and ajorque incoming that would take spending to over£100 million looks like we do mean business ps the same person told me about guedes.

3.) 15 Aug 2022 23:54:21
Brilliant if it actually gets over the line. Now a striker and happy days.

4.) 16 Aug 2022 00:32:05
If this does come off and we keep Neves then this is a game changer. Together they would give us one of the best midfied pairings in Europe. If the sale of Neves is the sting in the tail though then it will be one step forward, two steps back. We still need a centre forward but well done Fosun if this comes off.

5.) 16 Aug 2022 00:39:56
Yep we're in advanced talks.
I said at end of last season now ffp punishment is gone we will spend.

6.) 16 Aug 2022 03:13:00
Romano has only said that the clubs have agreed a fee. the talks with the player are ongoing. Given what we know from earlier in the summer (that he's holding out for Champions League football via an EPL team) I'd say we shouldn't get too excited just yet.

It would be absolutely massive if they did pull it off though!

7.) 16 Aug 2022 03:57:50
John Percy is reporting similar.

South Banker

1.) 20 Oct 2022 18:56:39
Shi and Sellers will still be there and are again proving thy do not have the experience or contacts to run a premier club, they have relied too heavily on Mendes for transfers and made a lot of bad decisions in getting rid of people who were doing a good job on and of the pitch, Sellers is interfering to much with the first team with only youth football on his cv. We need a clear out if we want to keep our premier league status.

2.) 20 Oct 2022 19:40:28
Once again Baza, spot on.

3.) 20 Oct 2022 20:21:57
And our highly paid players who don't score or assist when they should is that shi sellars fault?
Thankyou for ignoring my post looks like I'm posting crap to everyone.

Carry on enjoy the doom and gloom
Enjoy being peeved off every day every week as shi and sellars have bought players who are going to get us relegated.

4.) 20 Oct 2022 20:44:09
Good points phil and I for one fully agree. There maybe things amiss upstairs but it's the players on the pitch who do the job. Now things may settle down abit and the team will settle into their correct roles. Yhe only way to go is up, so onwards and upwards for me.COYW

5.) 20 Oct 2022 21:20:04
The problem at the top is causing disharmony at the club, right now the players need direction and focus, sacking Bruno without a plan has to have its affect on players and staff, maybe now there's a bit of stability till end of year it may help, not having a happy dressing room causes issues with players.
It's quite possible Martinez is on the radar after World Cup?

Work permit for Diego has been rejected. Verdict in next 48 hours

South Banker

1.) 06 Sep 2022 12:19:52
That's that then

2.) 06 Sep 2022 12:37:05
Apparently if the appeal is rejected we will explore the possibility of signing Andy Carroll

3.) 06 Sep 2022 12:56:33
Any other club -the deal would have been accepted. Now dead in the water. No thanks to Andy Carroll

4.) 06 Sep 2022 13:05:32
Put one I'd the under 23s in or under 18s

5.) 06 Sep 2022 15:25:06
I totally agree. Get Campbell in the squad now. Young, fit, speedy, knows where the net is. Why waste time, effort and money on a 'has-been' when we are supposedly 'investing' in our youth system.
If they don't do this, what does it say to our young guys?

6.) 06 Sep 2022 18:37:34
Campbell is worth giving a try against Liverpool and City as a short term fix, these aren't games we expect much out of. If the lad takes the chance let him have an extended run. The risk is his confidence gets damaged if it goes badly. We do need someone else with experience in though asap.

7.) 06 Sep 2022 22:02:34
Why are people forgetting guedes? As I understood it he can play centre, and he's got more experience than Campbell. There's a time and place but not anfield now. Tho I still think adamas the man if need be, his presence alone will take defenders away.

03 Sep 2022 18:22:22
Few things from today, good in patches again, when you move the ball quickly look what happens, great move for the goal. Nunes looks an absolute steal, makes it look so easy and what an athlete, box to box all game. Finally to the idiots who booed Hwang when he came on hang your heads in shame! Regardless of your opinion whether you rate him or not, he is one of the pack so get behind every player on the pitch. Fair play to the south bank starting his song. Anyway 3 points on the board so happy days COYW

South Banker

1.) 03 Sep 2022 18:44:32

2.) 04 Sep 2022 07:48:23
As I've said before I like Hwang, every Wolves fan were singing his praises when he first arrived and were adamant we had to sign him, he's going through a rough patch he will get through it just get behind him

Apparently we are in intensive negotiations with Stuttgart for Austrian international striker Kalajdzic, deal with player agreed in principle. They want €25m and we're looking to finalise in coming days

South Banker

1.) 22 Aug 2022 15:08:51
Fabrizio Ramano is saying "Wolves are in concrete talks with Stuttgart to sign Saša Kalajdžić as new striker, confirmed. Negotiation started during the weekend also on personal terms, as
@Plettigoal
has reported. ?? #Wolves

Five year deal offered, but fee still in talks between clubs."

2.) 22 Aug 2022 15:42:45
Just looking at his highlights, a bit Crouch like and at 6ft 7" good with his head. A bit surprised by this one as given the names linked I thought we would be looking for more pace and power. Unless, of course they're planning on signing another as well.

3.) 22 Aug 2022 16:31:37
Long-There were several references to our side lacking height during the commentary on Saturday-something I have gone on about for a while-amongst other things! We need some physical presence, so could be a welcome addition.

4.) 22 Aug 2022 17:28:20
It's fair comment SQ and actually Crouchy was a very useful player, no doubt. Because he's so different to the rest he fits perfectly into the need to give Lage options. But for that reason I think there may well be a Ramos or Ramos like signing to follow.
I'm not sure that they believe Jimenez will return to his former glory and after a season of goal shy performances I don't think they'll take that chance again.

5.) 22 Aug 2022 18:35:09
As a lot of our crosses into the box go over everyone's head someone taller could be very useful!

Tongue in cheek comment though as Bruno has said he needs different types of player up front this guy could be a useful addition to the squad imo.

6.) 22 Aug 2022 19:23:27
ah yes, ex spurs and Villa player Jenas. And tell me. How come we won most of the headers? And the one Kane scored was hardly him jumping great heights. Did his feet even leave the ground.

64% we won. Maybe don't listen to a player that hates us and has played for rivals and also supports the team we are playing.

Ive noticed this is common with the English. They remember what fits their narrative and agenda. So like that. we lack height yet the super tall Spuds only won 35.7%. I mean go check. It's on every website that reports stats. Even on Sky Sports.

Funny that. Kinda proves some of our fans really are negative nellies and are willing to spread misinformation to be right. This is as bad as that bloke on E&S constantly wanting us to lose so he can be right about Lage being a bad manager. Don't you English have the term cutting ones nose of to spite ones face? Wanting the club you "support" to fail just because you want to be right. Amazing.

7.) 22 Aug 2022 19:38:36
Agree.

8.) 22 Aug 2022 20:53:25
Agree with all not Frenchwolf.

Frenchwolf Lage has stated in the not to distance past he wants a target man striker hence tall.
Nothing wrong on anything in this feed.

Feels like the right time to leave, don't think he's been given a chance since going to world cup. Good price as one year left and not been same since injury but agree it's a surprise staying in prem. Podence training on his own at Compton so definitely freeing up more wages and clearing the decks. Expect few incoming very soon. People moaning about getting rid of players but yet they're the ones been moaning last couple of seasons saying we need an overhauling players not good enough. For me it's much needed and Jlo can get his squad assembled. Exciting season ahead I think COYW

Thing with assists is Adama could create 20 chances per game but if the ball doesn't end up in the net he doesn't get an assist. Don't get me wrong he is hit and miss for me but the stats don't always tell the full story. That season when he was unplayable he had about Raul on the end of things, the season after he actually created more chances but we had no-one capable of finishing them off. Obviously this supply's to any winger just using Adama as he's the scapegoat COYW

Hey all, not posted for a while. Glad you enjoyed the tour Phil, I did it couple of years ago with my daughter, wasn't ex players then but the guide was so knowledgeable and really knew the club and what he was talking about. Told us about Nunos way of dealing with half time talks was reverse psychology, if we were crap he'd put arms around the players but if we were playing well he would go on at them. Had photos in the press conference bit, the changing rooms, dugout etc. Is there still a pitch painted on the dressing room floor to discuss tactics or was that just for Nuno? It is a great experience to do for any fan

Agreed jas, there was never any need for a massive overhaul just better back up/ competition and we know nuno likes to bring players in 1 or 2 at a time so as not to disrupt what we have. Everyone keeps saying why haven't we signed an attacking midfielder but didn't we spend nearly 20m on 2 of them last week? And for all we know some of the younger signings may be on the bench as nuno will know about them and what he wants. Just because they're young and not household names doesn't mean they're not quality. After all fergie got Ronaldo at 17 didn't he? Let's just quit the negativity and look forward to another great season. Many fans forget how far we've come in a short space of time and remember fosun have a long term plans which we are ahead of schedule. COYW.
