GON is too sensitive about being judged to be a truly top manager. Yes, he's done an amazing job with a paper-thin squad, but to moan about a lack of January signings right now invites the players to give up. Only a couple of weeks ago he was being pragmatic about using youngsters in the first team. Maybe we all need reminding that after too many years in the championship, we are still doing ok.

Where to start with such a comment?! Firstly he's 40 (two years younger than Arteta who was only just leaving Pep at this stage) and in his second full year of management, to judge his career now is frankly laughable! Secondly are you actually suggesting that the best managers aren't over the top when on the end of bad decisions, becuase if so you have been following a different league to me these last few years?! Clearly you've forgotten the time not that long ago Klopp actually suggested replaying an entire match becuase of a bad call?!?
Thirdly is it not entirely possible that back when GON said that he meant it but he has since seen (like everyone else has) that you can't compete in this league with just 15 outfield players (two of which are keepers the rest of which mostly defenders)!
I get that he needs to learn to ride these things better but let's cut the 'young' lad some slack eh?! We were second best for the whole second half and were still ONLY just robbed of a point! All this whilst having to play a full back in the hole and a winger up front because we literally have NO first team players left!
Saved Bournemouth last season after there manager bowed out. Saved us this season after OUR manager bowed our! 4th lowest wage bill in the league and still fighting for Europe, whilst having to play with less senior sqaud players than almost any other team across all the pro leagues!
And your judging his entire career after those 18 months and saying he ain't going places?!
C'mon fella, just pick up a paper cause LITERALLY everyone else is saying that he's knocking it out of the park! In GON we trust! COYW???

I dunno if he was moaning Otley, or offering explanation to silly questions. Of course he's got to use the youngsters, although why fraser as got out the pecking order I don't know, I dunno what interview you're referring to but if it's just after a game in which you've been cheated of a point, lost any momentum for a European spot, then he's going to be realistic in what he's had to play with. Can't knock him for that, he's only saying 'well what do you expect given the circumstances '. The ignorant media do ask stupid questions.

Agree Abbey and Bully.we have over-achieved this season thanks to Hobbs and O'Neil.
O'Neil was a risk, but has been a great appointment. Well done Hobbs!
Don'y forget, O'Neil has not signed a single player yet! He has been working with what he inherited.
The conversation reported he had with Shi is him just stating the facts. No forwards signed in Jan.a challenging situation will be created.and guess what?! All fans would have said the same to Shi.
In the summer, our Owners, Guo Guangchang, Wang Qunbin and Liang Xinjun need to show real support for Hobbs and O'Neil and find ways to fund investment in the squad, without risking FFP sanctions.

I understand why Everton and Forest will push hard against the creakiness of ffp regulations, but at the end of the day they have cheated. It may not be on the pitch but they have cheated and should get what they deserve, whatever that is and whenever the penalties are applied. Fosun took a different, but still huge gamble and played by the rules and it's worked out ok for us for footballing reasons. I'm sure all Wolves fans would feel different right now if we were in the bottom 3 with Forest and Evert

Thing is Ottleywolf, Everton now have the 'punishment' reduced to 6 points deduction, two 'defeats', the money spent on players to win other 'enough' points, will have been worth it. I know there are more charges to come but the prem will finish in chaos at this rate, two of the bottom teams won't know if they're relegated or not, and Everton forest won't know if they've accrued to survive, then if they are relegated they may well have the punishment reduced again and then reinstated. Its a total farce by the prem, and all the time the 'complicated' 100 odd charges against City continue to hang in the air. We complied and scraped through, ameasured gamble knowing we were offloading our assets maybe, but we complied. Everton should have gone down last year, now they're likely to avoid punishment this year. Which more or less sets a precedent for clubs to do what they want if they've a big TV audience in them.

We all complained that Everton's case should have been heard last season. It wasn't and they dodged relegation leaving everyone saying the punishment should apply in the affected 'season'. Now it is and if handled efficiently there's no reason, even with appeals, things can't be sorted by the end of the season. Forest will effectively be the first.

For me this is a better approach but with City being historical and more complex I suppose it will take longer. After they and Everton are dealt with further miscreants should be dealt with in that season. If accounts are submitted at the end of January they've got until May to deal with any issues.

I hope both NF and Everton get relegated this year, one way or another. And Man City should be stripped of titles won during their cheating period and now dropped 2 divisions.

4.) 28 Feb 2024 20:51:11
Everton and Forest breached FFP rules. Man City have been accused of Fraud that's why it's taking so much longer.

Last match on motd again, most complete Wolves performance of the season, yet post match pundits focused on how s***t Everton were. They gave us a 5 second post script on how well GON is doing. Wtf.

I've been saying this all season. The media hate us for some unknown reason.

Wolves never win. The opposition always lose.

We are given no credit whatsoever.

Yesterday on the way back from the game, one pundit stated that Everton were poor because this was their 3rd game in 7 days therefore they were always going to be leggy and tired.

The presenter quickly pointed out that we had just played our 3rd game in 6 days but and won all 3 but the pundit wasn't having it.

Dunno why, but I feel nervous when I hear GON on the telly box. He never sounds that confident, does he?

I won't be paying for E&S articles and I reckon they will lose a lot of readers. There's not enough value to justify the price tag. I like Liam Keen, but there are other sources of good, reliable, reflective commentary. Shame, it's another connection from my home town I won't have, but it will be one less obsessive grazing-page to have to suffer :)

I agree Ray389. I previously wrote that the owners don't care - that's obvs an emotional response from me. They obvs have a plan, but as you day, it may not involve staying in the Premier league.

Greetings all. This site has been my go-to for many a-while, for many-a-rumour, so thank you - thought I'd break cover and pitch in. With the mysteries of ffp and how much we have to sell to spend (and who goes to fund the rebuild), I'm relying on the fact that Lopetegui knows this is happening and is staying in spite of it - there must be hidden benefits that we aren't yet aware of. I can't see him putting up with another scrabble for survival.
