Three weeks to go to start of season. So far a bunch of outgoings headed by Neves, not one incoming who you could say has materially strengthened the squad. My finger that was hovering above the panic button is now resting gently on it. Surely we can have one impressive signing soon? Otherwise my head will explode!

Patience, patience NonComposMentis.
A bit more "dead-heading" to be done yet, before "incomings".
I have every confidence in Lopetegui and Hobbs.as long as Shi remains out of the picture and sticks to counting paperclips.

In all honesty my finger is nowhere near the panic button, yet. However, we've had quite an exodus of players, legends even, as well as admin and coaching staff, so as you say NonCompusMentis a few incomings of note would be appreciated.

The main reason I'm trying to stay out of it this window is to avoid being taken up a whole range of emotional blind alleys by the rumour mill in general. How many players are we told that we are on the brink of signing before it becomes obvious we're not?

I'll be going to a couple of the pre season friendlies to draw my own conclusions about what shape we'll start the season in and hope to see some promise. As you say just 3 weeks to the big kick off but, in truth, how many players are signed during the dying hours of the transfer window?

Let's hope for everyone's sanity things start to happen soon.

My fingers moved away from the 'button', I'm feeling more confident as the club quietly move along. I take it as alls well in JL's hands. The kilman situ may raise its head again which would be a worry tho. The fact that chinquinho as gone to Stoke surprised me a bit. But looking at the players we've still got, if they perform to their potential I think we'll be alright. We obviously need a couple of players and undoubtedly we'll lose some more but I'm OK in the faith with JL. If only we could wrap up the Scott deal, he had a wonder game for Bristol against Newport (not prem quality I know) scoring 2 and and 2-3 asst. in 8-0 win could pull extra interest and price us out if we dilly dally.

4.) 23 Jul 2023 10:10:48
I was also surprised Abbeywolf by the Chinquinho loan.
Then I read they can recall him in Jan.the plan may be to allow him regular football and if he looks good enough, bring him back

5.) 23 Jul 2023 10:25:24
Good point rugelywolf. Who covers the right until then tho?

6.) 23 Jul 2023 11:37:12
I am also not panicking yet
We do have players coming back from loan and injury who our manager can assess
I am sure they are looking to strengthen the squad but in all honesty we are not that sexy a club to join
Sad to say it but true

7.) 23 Jul 2023 13:44:29
Abbey we still have Sarabic, Podence who can cover the right plus if need be Doherty can play rw too.

8.) 23 Jul 2023 14:41:07
I'm genuinely sad that Himenez is going but also excited by the fact that Lopetegui is culling the squad. We fell off a cliff during the last 10 games of season 21/22. Last season we began poorly and were certainties to be relegated had Lopetegui not have taken over. He has obviously looked at the squad since arriving and realised that the last 18 months have not been the best and players need moving on.

We thank the likes of Neves, Coady, Moutinho, Jimenez etc but your time has been and gone.

Players will be coming in and we will look a different outfit to last season.

9.) 23 Jul 2023 14:59:15
This looks like the biggest squad shake up since that season we had to suffer Tommy Docherty as manager and we know how that ended!
Luckily JL is Premier League standard and the ‘Doc’ was non-League at best.

10.) 23 Jul 2023 15:01:35
I can see sarabia rated, Doherty possibly, podence (if he's still with us) dosnt do it for me in an out and out way. But again JL knows what he's looking for.

11.) 23 Jul 2023 15:06:39
Everything with players leaving has been expected from before the window opened.
The exception chiquinho on loan to Stoke.
Giles is/was maybe 50/50.
I can see podence going at 95% certainty.

Jiminez fair well thanks for the memories all the best if it goes through at Fulham.

12.) 23 Jul 2023 17:47:29
Podence not in friendly squad for Tuesday Phil. Apparently he's training on his own.

13.) 23 Jul 2023 18:21:20
Not massively surprised by that Abbey, he's had a bit of an attitude on him for a few seasons now and I suspect JL has no time for it. Get him gone, if he wants to go then he's no great loss

14.) 23 Jul 2023 21:00:52
Looks like it's happening then Abbey.
Makes perfect sense Bullysboy lopetegui doesn't want him then get rid.
I think he's top quality player but that means nothing if his heart isn't in the shirt.
Should get some half decent funds off him I imagine.

So many rumours about who is going. It’s easy to get despondent. In trying to sort it all out, look for the self interest. Fosun are an investment company. Their self interest will always be to increase the value of their investment. That means they will put in pretty much whatever it takes to stay in the Premier League. I expect Neves and Traore to go but we will get some good new players to work with the new manager.

Omg. Is the whole first team up for sale, is new man overhauling the squad, seems like no one's safe,
Who knows, it might be what's needed, I'm getting nervous now, need euros calm me down 😀.

Lage built his reputation on playing youth and doing well at Benfica, Wolves have 71 players on there books most are young players so I am not surprised we are selling some of our experienced players and being linked with almost every young u21 Portugal player.

Tell me it ain’t true, Mr Shi. Tell me it ain’t true! Surely no professional coach with a grain of integrity would walk out on his team a week before kick off. If he was going to walk he would have done it two months ago, wouldn’t he?

Kilman out, Scott and Elverdi in might balance the books? But I’d hate to lose Kilman.

Abbeywolf I’m with you 100%. Right now I just feel incredibly sad that our club has come to this. No man with a shred of integrity would walk out less than a week before our first game. Lop is just a mercenary. He has no loyalty. A chairman with any skill would never have let it happen. It would have been sorted in June.

Not for me - he fails the character test.

Given our lack of funds and need to strengthen depth of squad, I think we will be looking for loans from clubs trying to trim their squads towards end of the window eg Spurs and Chelsea

Hate to agree with you Ukrainewolf. One moment we are bidding $20 million for Scott, the next we are broke. It makes no sense. We need a cunning plan but seem to be confused like a one eyed dog running round trying to catch a frisbee in the dark. The only hope to strengthen the squad seems to picking up some loans at the window death knock.
