Rumours starting to circle about us being sold, any thoights

Kingswinford Wolf

1.) 27 Jul 2023 10:57:02
I read earlier that an American billionaire was looking to invest into a premier League club. Might be a good time to sell up to someone with an interest in the club.

2.) 27 Jul 2023 11:33:30
Reading between the lines, but the fact they spent heavy in January to stay in the Premiership, was this always the Plan to sell us this season?

3.) 27 Jul 2023 12:01:22
Can't see a deal getting over the line before before the start of the season (should the rumour (s) be true.

4.) 27 Jul 2023 12:17:33
If the rumours are true the why get 99mill to make sure your overseas investments we secure doesn't make sense. Fuson have always insisted there in for the long haul and only want to sell 20% or 30% as to get extra income

5.) 27 Jul 2023 12:25:25
I can't say I'm surprised to hear this, it has crossed my mind that they may be about to walk away.

6.) 27 Jul 2023 12:41:11
Dek, do you think other people than the Chinese would buy a part of the club as you say 20% 30%. As I’m not sure other people would like to go into business with the Chinese?

{Ed001's Note - Man City is part-owned by Chinese, there have been no issues there.}

7.) 27 Jul 2023 13:48:42
It's easy to speculate that fosun are about to sell out given their silence and the fire sale, but the actions of employing JL, spending out to purely keep us in the prem for business purposes just dosnt seem the honourable thing that fosun have promised us. Are they really giving up on the project? Well nobody knows because they tell us nothing. Although I wouldn't be surprised I'm not subscribing to a sale just yet. Beat the red mancs and the whole picture might change for us. All we can do is concentrate on the games and build up the confidence again.

8.) 27 Jul 2023 13:53:18
So if we got a new owner with even more money than Fosun do you think FFP just goes away?
Don’t know how to say this any other way, it’s because they have spent more money than we bring in, a richer owner won’t be able to get round that!

9.) 27 Jul 2023 15:10:45
I know they were looking to sell a % of the club to bring in extra money/investment. Maybe Madeley has over egged the pudding.

10.) 27 Jul 2023 15:19:42
Exactly Jas M why chase JL for 6 years finally get him spend 75 mill in Jan to save us from relegation.Then have a fire sale in the summertransfer window which could see us get relegated lose a lot of value and put up for sale does not make sense.

11.) 27 Jul 2023 15:28:44
Tommo regarding FFP imo it isn't fair why not allow each prem club a maximum 100mil to spend if they break the rules points deductin it seems the big clubs get round it somehow.
That should stop em

{Ed002's Note - FFP is not just related to transfers. This is hopeless.}

12.) 27 Jul 2023 15:56:42
Edoo2's I know it includes transfers and wages that's way Chelsea put all them players on 8 and 9 year contracts if you could explain how it works. Imo it favours the top 6 who get a lot more money two spend when a lot of teams now have owners who have the money but can't spend it.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and get in to explaining everything as it is clear you really don't get it.}

13.) 27 Jul 2023 15:58:19
Looks like we're in for another season of scrapping it out to stay up, if so then I can't see Julien staying, but who knows what will happen, like earlier post, imagine if we beat utd first game, ????
Coyw, fewaw,

14.) 27 Jul 2023 16:33:36
Ed002 - why don't you do a podcast about FFP?, that way we'd all be wiser to it, I don't fully understand it (I do to a degree).

{Ed002's Note - Maybe when the summer is over.}

15.) 27 Jul 2023 16:21:23
I suspect that Fosun may be looking for an investor. If the right offer came along they may well be open to selling the whole club.

My opinion only but anyone looking to run a football club in England as a profitable going business concern and competing as a top 6 club needs a superb football brain combined with exceptional business skills. Best of luck in finding that owner.

The alternative is the Newcastle Man City model, a cash cow dependent on public money from elsewhere.

16.) 27 Jul 2023 16:44:02
Some posters should really do some research!
Fosun have been working for a few years now to increase our income streams by expanding into music, fashion, motorsport, etc…
This is because it’s not about how many players you buy or how much you spend and is done a a rolling three years turnover.
It’s so frustrating seeing posters slagging off Fosun after spending so much money Wolves and clearly not understanding things.
I can only imagine the screaming in Ed 2s head everytime he has to put up another ridiculous nonesense post

17.) 27 Jul 2023 16:47:53
You don’t need to explain FFP to anybody Ed as clearly Wolves have done everything needed to comply (for this window / rolling 3-year period anyway) with FFP.
We can only guess at the Fosun business strategy, be the need to produce a short-term profit or ready the business for sale.
However, be it FFP or Profit and Sustainability, the rules are constantly being written to favour football businesses that have business models that already enjoy substantial income flows to the detriment of new businesses that wish to invest, join the fray and provide footballing alternatives for a substantial and lucrative market. In this country we have energy companies, water companies and banks that pretty much have driven the competition out and the top of the football tree basically wants the same.

{Ed002's Note - Ok I won’t explain then.}

18.) 27 Jul 2023 17:13:50
Newcastle will face their own issues with FFP. It's already got them a bit this summer despite qualifying for Champions League. Newcastle have more commercial revenue than Wolves do which helps with covering their expenses.

{Ed002's Note - You should start your post with , “Speaking from a position of complete ignorance…”

19.) 27 Jul 2023 17:20:42
Greyleg my money will be on us beating utd. I don't feel that we'll be a roll over under Jl and that we will surprise a few. Optimistic? Maybe, but if we start off expecting the worst, we'll what's the point? Get behind the lads, behind the club and ignore all the hookah. COYW

20.) 27 Jul 2023 17:26:13
Mr Guanchang and the other 2 Directors have committed 6/7 years to Wolves.
Their only failing is allowing Shi direct control from the end of 2019 when all our troubles started.
Before that, 3 great years under Dalrymple.

21.) 27 Jul 2023 17:52:46
Abbey, I'm totally behind us. No matter who are manager is, no matter who plays for us, or what league we are in, always will be,
There is a saying
The more a monkey climbs the tree
The more it shows its arse
Maybe fosun are thinking of cutting and running, but someone else will come in,

22.) 27 Jul 2023 17:59:42
Like it greyleg, never doubting you just trying to lift the gloom and doom.

23.) 27 Jul 2023 18:12:35
If that note was aimed at me Ed002 it seems a little harsh and completely uncalled for and it wasn't from a position of complete ignorance.

{Ed002's Note - Actually it was embarrassingly ignorant.}

24.) 27 Jul 2023 19:32:05
I’m sorry Ed, I wasn’t in any way being critical of your enduring efforts to explain FFP but trying to emphasise that there’s clearly more at play here.
Businesses are entitled to plan and budget in any way they wish and over whatever period they choose but Wolves should credit the fans (and their competitors) with some intelligence and stop gaslighting by blaming one industry regulatory constraint.
When we can’t negotiate a deal for Aaron Cresswell you have to conclude that all transfers in are being put on stop. This feels like it could get worse before it gets better but with our club, who knows?

{Ed002's Note - I said I would explain - that option has now gone because of you.}

25.) 27 Jul 2023 19:49:39
"Part owned" and "majority owned" are two different things.

26.) 27 Jul 2023 22:49:43
It was just a rumour that I had heard and agree, more research will be done before posting again, I do however think that under JL we will stay up this season even if we don't sign anybody. Hopefully fans who attend make every home game an even more raucous affair!

Because he kept a sub par Bournemouth team that Scott Parker said wasn't good enough, in the Premier league, that's why. There's no guarantee Bournemouths new manager will keep them up.

I have genuinely never seen some fans of a club, want that club to fail miserably so badly, you think a manager doing poorly will get rid of a board? Hasn't exactly worked that way with the glazers has it? The fans have wanted them out for years and many managers have failed there. Same fans that will say GON is the best thing since sliced bread if we are in the top half. Utterly embarrassing.

But he was good enough, the objective for Bournemouth with the squad he had, was survival, he achieved it.What planet are you on? We aren't a top 6 side, right now we are a lower to mid table side. For THIS season our aim will be to stay up and then NEXT season we can spend, it's that simple why are being finding this hard to comprehend? We paid an arm and a leg to get lop and now he's thrown his dummy out of the pram about something he knew about towards the end of last season which I presume has cost us more money in paying him off as lop didn't resign because he would not have recieved a penmy, why on earth would we when we are under incredible financial pressure go and over pay for a manager that could go and do exactly the same come January? It's for one season, suck it up and get behind the lads

Although JL has gone, I'm fairly content with the appointment, would of preferred Potter but we probably couldn't afford him, I think oneill was unfairly sacked from Bournemouth and I'm hopeful with a better 11 he could improve further, think the days of league 1 are easily forgotten! We don't have a divine right to be challenging for Europe, accept that staying up is our aim and I fully believe with O'Neil and our team, we will have the quality to do so. WAW

Hi wolfy, for me I'd like to see kilman stay as he's premier league proven, I think the aim is to add elvedi while keeping kilman, lozano would also come with massive wages which could further restrict us, his output wasn't great last year but maybe he just needs a change, but if money is added on top I agree we might feel its too good to turn down. I'm hoping we don't let anyone go and if we can get one player in its a bonus, if not then I think we will have enough, either way wolves ay we

Buxwolf, apart from neves, who have we actually sold that would be considered vital in our starting 11? Yes we lack a little depth but surely you can't think we are going to be that bad?

I'm struggling to understand why we are so doomed? Neves was the only nailed on starter we have lost so far, a lot of the players we have let go weren't even in JLs plans, Sasa hasn't had a chance up to yet, silva has been out and gained experience, gomes was getting as he settled into the team, lemina has been solid, nunes should have a big season and defensively we are the same minus Collins, Have a little faith people, yes we are a little light but I can't see us trying to have any cup runs, the focus will be the prem, we may flirt with relegation again but I think when all said is done we will be safe, just back the boys
