Cutrone to Valencia then, even though Nuno virtually insisted only 2/ 3 days ago he was part of the team and in his plans and yet this evening we'll see what happens before Monday.
I can't keep up!

Italia Wolf

1.) 30 Jan 2021 13:30:28
I know I feel sorry for the lad, wish he would persevere with him might still need him for cover.

2.) 30 Jan 2021 13:33:25
Don't know about Valencia unless they have a dodgy recruitment team but Nuno has not stated that Cutrone is part of his plans and it's obvious to everyone, I'd have thought, that he doesn't rate him. He was called back just in case we didn't secure a proper striker in the window. Hopefully we have.

3.) 30 Jan 2021 19:48:57
I think you might have missed the reports and interviews on Monday/ Tuesday Old Wulf because that's exactly what Nuno came out and said.

4.) 01 Feb 2021 15:59:18
Even today Nuno is saying if Cutrone can start scoring, it will help us in the future.
Maybe it will help drive his price up so we can recoup part of the amount paid to AC Milan.

Douglas Costa link has resurfaced again this evening via The Daily Telegraph.
Currently on loan at Bayern from Juve.

Italia Wolf

1.) 21 Jan 2021 10:43:01
That would be a very pricey loan. can't see it.

Then again you can't doubt his quality.

2.) 21 Jan 2021 11:30:27
Fake news according to Fabrizio Romano. Wolves have never made an approach for him. Just paper talk.

3.) 21 Jan 2021 15:21:16
I'm all for the William Jose deal. This will give us the type of threat Jimenez provided and at the same time take the pressure of Silva. Silva was to be brought on gradually, but the injury to Raul changed all that. Silva took his first goal in open play against WBA very well. The raw ability is there. He needs a mentor on the field to learn the tricks from, and William Jose would fit the bill. They both speak Portuguese, so that helps.

4.) 21 Jan 2021 15:32:08
Think he may have called the Diego Costa one fake news not Douglas costa

Might have got you mixed up.

Although Douglas Costa move would be classic paper bait.

5.) 21 Jan 2021 16:40:23
I stand corrected.

6.) 21 Jan 2021 17:38:06
What I did find interesting is that the same paper carrying the Douglas Costa story also suggested that City and Pool were looking at Adama. Not sure I can see it but if he's holding out on contract talks then who knows?! A big sale seems to be the only way we'd afford another attacker especially someone Douglas Costas crazy wages so could be a link in the stories?! Who knows, I thought the Doherty story was nonsense when that first surfaced so I take nothing as a given these days 🤔.

7.) 22 Jan 2021 09:18:44
Bullys.
Can't see there being anything in the Douglas Costa thing, can you?
I did read somewhere that his wage was 100k per week (I know that can't be trusted) but if so, then that's the same as mouthino, apparently. So you never know, stranger things have happened. Seems to be linked with Adama moving to pool or city. Again, can't see that. Not yet anyway. But then if Adama pushes for a move who knows.

8.) 22 Jan 2021 14:58:08
I agree Shares, think it's probs just lazy reporting to be honest. But I suppose the point I was making is that (like you) the only way I see us getting a player like Costa is if we were to sell someone (like Adama) and ploughed the majority of the money into a large contract. Personally I think it would be bad business, luckily I very much doubt there's a shred of truth in any of it 👍.

Wednesday night I looked at our bench and I felt reassured that it looked quite strong.
Today I saw another 'new' name.
Rewind to the Chelsea home game I saw Otasowie on the bench and - as we all know - he came on second half and had a great game. MoM stuff they said.
His contribution since - the 'false number 9' farce at Burnley and the spooned header at Brighton. Since then he has vanished, as quickly as he appeared.
We've seen Corbeaneu and Shabani sat on the bench, another farce of Sondergaard sat on the bench - a second keeper.
Lonwijk included against Chelsea and today he was there again, along with another new name, Bueno.

Now, I've little idea why these any of these are getting a single minute - Sondergaard excluded - yet Silva is picking up 20/ 30 minutes at a time!
I know why! Jeff Shi insists he does and that is because he was a Fosun signing. Purely financial, pure speculation in the hope he would make it big behind Raul a d come through as the Heir apparent. It's not working/ worked.

I thought Chorley was the PERFECT game for Corbeaneu to get 10/ 15 minutes - a scrappy game on a poor pitch with the ball flying everywhere- u23 stuff and the ideal scene for him.

A bunch of players - Hoever, Vitinha, Otasowie are getting too little time to get into games. In one week out the next four is no good, whilst Moutinho our biggest offender for going sideways and slowing games down, is a constant.

The midfield needs some big changes and soon. Neves is a must but Moutinho needs dropping surely!? Neves needs to be employed further forward just behind Billy Joe. I cannot stand this passing back, side, back.

Injuries permitting we need a more settled side and shape - it's obvious to the fans.

Rui - needs dropping, not a rest. Way too many mistakes. Newcastle, Olbyern header, today to name a few.
Moutinho - see above.
Coady - an England curse? again needs dropping sorry.
The sooner Jonny is back the better for that left back spot.

Too many underperformers and Nuno is adding to that with changing players for no good reason.
Today was meant to be the game after a starting point. It's now the game before a starting point.

We are running out of games Nuno to get ourselves 100% safe and see a quality performance.

The last time I saw one of those was Spurs away almost a YEAR ago.

Italia Wolf

1.) 30 Jan 2021 20:23:55
What do you all think?
If we lose next two games.
Nuno will be sacked
Just can't help, thinking it.
Maybe the £250,000,gift was a leaving gift?!?

2.) 30 Jan 2021 22:31:04
Greyleg - clearly there is a major problem somewhere. We are not only losing but playing terribly as well. Bizarre summer transfers, weird and ever changing selections and tactics and no passion/ response from any one.
Is he the one to blame? Or is he frustrated with those - Jeff Shi? - who are but who are leaving him to carry the can
He has an awful lot of credit in the bank so I expect him to survive - if he wants to (? ) - until the reality hits ( the teams below us start closing the gap) but the pressure is mounting.
Italia - another v good post. If we can't get anyone in and can't get injured players back we don't have a lot of choices particularly in midfield- one of the things that Nuno was complaining about last summer and about which nothing was done - other than playing kids and frankly that not only won't work but also isn't fair on them.
Team now?
Possibly we have to target games we can pick up points from and walk away from others if we don't have the legs to play 17 plus the cup without a squad
Ruddy
Semedo
Boly
Coady
Kilman
Saiss

the latter 3 of these aren't ideal or in form but.

Neves
Dendonker (Owen might be better but its a big big ask - no matter how limited Dendonker is he has many positive attributes we just need to be aware of his talents and limitations and not expect him to do things he can't)

Neto
Jose
Traore

Podence v unlucky to lose out but we can't have 3 behind Jose and the other two are stronger and faster - if less creative/ imaginative. We aren't good enough for Podence this season. But he is a really good player who will be fine next year!
He is also an X factor for when we are chasing games (so he will get a lot of game time! )

19 Jan 2021 18:57:55
Not a rumour - not a quote
Someone in my opinion worthy of group discussion.
If we are to consider British based players, albeit he is Portuguese, Lucas Joao at Reading.
27 years old, 6' 4", 20 goals in 40 for Reading.
Been at Blackburn and Sheff Wed prior.

1.) 19 Jan 2021 20:07:58
Not a new poster, just keep having to re-register and change name. Anything with a Scottish prefix was me: Scottish, Ecosse and Caledonian. New username so will try to remember my password from here on in.
Uncanny Italia Wolf: was going to make the same suggestion. Liked him at Sheffield Wednesday and he thrived there when they had Carlos Carvalhal, a fellow Portuguese. 6’ 4” so should have a presence in the box. Only downside is that he is a bit injury prone. Would be a good stop gap and back up option moving forward.

2.) 20 Jan 2021 14:01:51
Welcome back Scot/ Alba/ Jock/ Wolf/ Wolfthistle,
Incredible we had the same thought.
Joao would know the English game too albeit at one level lower.
Still what do fans know about football/ players. 😀.

3.) 20 Jan 2021 15:28:22
It's got to be Origi for me. He knows the league and has everything to play for in trying to get in the Belgium squad for the Euros.

Did I read £20-25mil? Bargain. He's not just a short term solution he can play anywhere across the front line and strengthens our squad going forward.

4.) 20 Jan 2021 20:50:20
Couldn't disagree MattWolf - Origi would be decent enough although we have all heard the news this evening about Willian Jose.
Let's hope the boy can get us some goals.

17 Jan 2020 09:19:37
Jordan Graham
May not be teachers pet but we are getting short now with Vinagre struggling.

Has to be worth a thought.

Italia Wolf

1.) 17 Jan 2020 10:55:13
Yeh I thought about it? NO! Were suppose to be going forward not backwards! Come on Big Jeff get things sorted! You’ve give it the big un that Fosun want us to be this that and the other? Well that costs, so put up or shut up! Talks cheap!

2.) 17 Jan 2020 11:15:06
Blimey Paul. Give Fosun a chance. Nuno himself said yesterday that a number of meetings have been set up and a list of players drawn up and that the club are nearing bringing new players in. We need the right players not any player to come in and January is notorious for being a bad window to buy players.

3.) 17 Jan 2020 11:30:43
At the moment it’s comin across as all talk! Getting boring now, actions speak louder than words! Southampton and Liverpool comin up, GET THE DEALS DONE!

4.) 17 Jan 2020 11:41:54
The difference these days is that we are fishing in a smaller pool and in strong competition with other bigger clubs. No longer picking up players from the Championship or lower—thank heavens. Better players will negotiate more strongly as will their agents so these things will take longer to finalise.

5.) 17 Jan 2020 12:21:33
Well said Paul Tamworth.

6.) 17 Jan 2020 14:51:49
I know it's frustrating but I believe that the signings will come, there is still just under two weeks to go, and I know we have four tough games coming up, but no point buying a rubbish player just for the sake of it, I believe we will get two to three players in.

7.) 17 Jan 2020 16:53:31
I have a feeling Jordan Graham is still on our books, but out on loan. I wonder if Nuno could work any magic on him? I think he had prior PL experience with Villa.

8.) 17 Jan 2020 18:23:14
This time last season 29pts. This season 31pts and only liverpool left to go out of the "unbeatable" games (that's liverpool and man city) . Ok we need signings but it's not all doom and gloom. We need a proven goalscorer now, not a prospect, someone to challenge jimenez and the rest will be history! COYW!

9.) 17 Jan 2020 18:37:50
Can't find anything to see he's still out on loan Deep Throat, Mark Kennedy used him in a couple of U23 games recently so I'm guessing he's available to use. Squad number 76!

10.) 17 Jan 2020 19:06:37
No significant signings yet? i'm worried were not making any this window. i'm going bookies tomorrow to see what odds they will give me on nuno becoming next manager of man utd.

11.) 17 Jan 2020 22:10:42
Does SQ stand for Stupid Quotes as that's all that comes from Him.
Panic and be as Negative as you like, but l trust Fosun and Nuno more than l trust SQ B/ S.

12.) 17 Jan 2020 23:48:46
Winsford Wolf is No Wolves fan if he's Betting on Nuno becoming Man United Manager. OMFG.!

13.) 18 Jan 2020 09:06:27
Never said i'd put money on it. just intetested of the price. Fingers crossed we sign players soon .
To be honest your to eager to jump down my throat. I've supported wolves all my life just like my late father I got told of stories of billy wright etc

14 Jan 2020 20:00:44
Thoughts on Callum Wilson Bournemouth?

Appreciate he's not scored since late September but that is in a struggling side who might drop out the Premier League the way they are going

Personally I think he would score a hatful in our set up.

Italia Wolf

1.) 14 Jan 2020 20:23:54
I like him would be superb signing.
FWAW.

2.) 15 Jan 2020 07:27:51
Agreed.

3.) 15 Jan 2020 10:32:17
Class player when he's fully fit and firing. sadly he has had difficulty staying fully fit in the past! Other problem here is other clubs (Spurs and Chelsea) have been quoted crazy prices for him previously (£60m+ if rumours are to be believed) . Its one of those classic cases where the players value to the actual club is worth hugely more than the players ACTUAL value to everyone else! Palace have the same problem with Zaha ;)

4.) 15 Jan 2020 10:39:48
He would, but big value will be the problem as always with UK players.
If we do anything, I have all fingers crossed that we do, probably be unknown to like majority we're when they came in and as cost effective like loan to buy again.

5.) 15 Jan 2020 12:18:05
I remember when we had a chance of signing cullum Wilson from Coventry I think then they were asking 3mil but we couldn't afford it back I think it may have been the K. Jacket time or before think we missed one there.
But would probably be silly money now so better off buying abrourd
2-1 to the mighty wolves tonight.
🐺🧡🖤.

6.) 15 Jan 2020 12:29:26
Paul- we also triggered Maguires £3.5m release fee when he left Sheff Utd but Hull offered higher wages. despite being in the league below at the time! Sometimes just the way of these things. Always interesting looking at the 'ones that got away' I think the most famous for me is the now infamous Maradonna having his trial at Sheff Utd cut short cause he wasn't big enough. funny old world! ;)

A player I've been advocating for 2+ players would be a great signing.
Dzêko has had a falling out with Fonseca the manager but was recently talked of going to Juve - which never materialised.
Would be a food signing imho - experience and nous to the team.

Cheers Phil789
He could have been set for Chelsea but I think the hitch is him being Brazilian (Visa stuff)
Chelsea anticipate their new manager to be in the dugout - or maybe the stands at least - come Wednesday.

No quarantine, no wait other than the same paperwork as per usual.
No quarantine for pro sports people or else European games would be a nightmare with 10 days either side.
He should be ready for Palace.

No.
Nuno is trying to find the best way to tackle to the poor performances.
I think our luck will change in a few weeks and we will start picking up points again.
Back to basics of being hard to score against is the way to rebuild the confidence.
Sacking managers every 3/ 4/ 5 years is never the answer no matter how angry or upset we are as fans.

As a few above have said I think anger is the feeling at the moment. I've gone past frustration and onto anger now.
I want Nuno to stay and not the Nuno who speaks with forked tongue.
I have ever growing thoughts in my head about Ian Cathro's level of influence on the coaching side.
I've no proof, no evidence but it makes me wonder why a side that played the same lX for 11 games when we were promoted, attacked teams at will and scored great team goals now can't pass to another gold shirt unless it's sideways or backwards and can't score for toffee.
SOMETHING dramatic has changed and none of us know why.
I appreciate Nuno picks the team, the tactics or is meant to but lots of managers/ head coaches trust in their right hand man.
One thing is for sure is that things need changing again drastically.
I want the 'we remain humble' days back, the laughing smiling Nuno, not the frowning sad 'we search for solutions Nuno'

Welcome back South Banker.
Best post I've read in a good while!

I agree with you 100% and I'm sure most others will do to.

Especially the fans point - WH, Villa, Saints to a certain extent have benefited. Sheff Utd, Wolves, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool have more than likely suffered.

I said the same yesterday about the table. Only a few weeks ago Southampton celebrated being at the summit, now 11th and 6 points away from us.

As you say, keep that faith boys / _/.

Nuno is our manager and the man to take us forward.
It's a tough, tough period but we WILL get through it.
Only a few weeks Southampton were top of the table or thereabouts, now 11th and 6 points away.
Everything changes so, so quickly.

Totally agree and that's not because of any 'Italian brother' rubbish.
He's a young lad who was sold by his boyhood club, found it hard to break the Jota/ Jiminez duo and sulked a bit in true Italian style.
Nuno has disrespected at nearly every turn - saying one thing to the fans, then doing another.
When all is said and done he's a young lad who was trying very hard to please but it hasn't worked sadly.
