Amortisation is a form of depreciation. The cost value of the asset is reduced for every year of a assets economic life. In the case of football players his contract. So if a player costs £10m and he initially signs a 4 year contract, his value on the books is reduced every year bt £2.5m and the reduced value is used against the sale value to calculate the profit. Also in the case of RAN, from what future appears to be saying, we would have to pay back 50% of the sales value, not the profit made. So if we sold for £30m we have to pay over £15m not £10m

Sorry Pikey Wolf, but RAN isn't worth £50m. He's OK going forward has the occasional deft touch and knows where the oppositions goal is, but out weighing this is his inadequacy in defence. He loses the ball with over-playing/poor passes around the half way line 2 or 3 times a game. In my opinion he's been pretty much responsible for at least 7 of the goals against so far this season.

Indeed Rugeley, there are some that seem to dismiss the positive rumours as rubbish, but believe everything they hear of the negatives is the gossbil truth.

Spot on Goat, all the negativity about Fosun, is a bit of a bore. Careful what you wish for people. I think Fosun are giving us more than you think. Look at the predicament of Everton and Newcastle under Ashley.
Do you all forget that without Fosun we would probably be a mid-table championship team at best. Also Fosun want to make money out of us? Well no s**t Sherlock, they're a business!

Future, yes your figures are absolutely correct both on profits and RAN.
Wandering, you clearly have no idea on accounts. I think you are confusing (or at least I hope it's confusion, or you'd best never take out a loan) interest with tax. Only the credit cards land pay day loans would attract anything like 20% and it wouldn't be attached to any profit figures only loans taken out for whatever reason.

As an accountant, I concur with your appraisal Blackfords ?

Shade and TFIOG, I think your are both missing a big point, it's not just what GON or wolves, or the likes of Arsenal want. There is also the player. If Arsenal or Liverpool make an offer for Cunha, don't you think Cunha may say, do you know what, they're offering more money, the chance to play regular European football, and a greater chance of honours, sorry Wolves but it's a chance I can't turn down. We saw the ugly side of it with Nunes, and I suspect that this was also the case with Neto. So it's not just about how much the club thinks we should get, or the buying clubs value. It's about the best deal available for a possibly unhappy, want away, player.

Mikeybayleaf1, if being accurate is being pedantic, then I'll be pedantic rather than spread an untruth to underline a problem, that frankly doesn't need this embellishment. We all know we're on a dismal and potentially devastating run of form without making stuff up!
