Ratings
Haven't seen the game on TV yet so might have to adjust ratings in the morning - game is on Sky on Sunday morning.
Also was behind the goal that Wolves attacked in the first half so didn't see the goals we scored too closely!
Sa 6 - had v v little to do and this time didn't save the one he shouldn't have done. Was booked, quite correctly for time wasting, due to Moutinho telling him to roll the ball out when it was a goal kick! Also involved in a v nasty incident when 2 Brentford players assaulted him to stop him launching a quick counter. The ref, who lost control of the game in the 2nd half mainly due to him being virtually absent in the first half, bottled it and merely booked one of them when it should surely have been 1 red at least.
Semedo 7 - Sensational going forwards especially in the 2nd half and good defensively but if I am being picky, he needs to work harder at getting back when we lose the ball - walking not acceptable
Kilman 6 - Struggled against their physical forwards and not as comfortable in possession as he normally is. Got blocked off, as Semedo did as well, for the goal meaning Toney knocked it in unmarked at the back post.
Coady 8 -Stood up well and was by far the best of a back 3 that for once looked pressurised.
Gomes 6 - Defended ok but struggled to keep the ball often resorting to launching hopeful balls - which Podence was rarely going to win against defenders a foot taller than him!
RAN 7 - Good on the ball and defended well staying on his feet when Brentford were looking for a challenge to go down to and win a pen.
Dendonker 7 - won the ball, closed people down and battled away but is limited. However, should have had an assist when he put the ball on a plate for Silva who must do better!
Moutinho 9 - fantastic performance, amazing energy. He did every thing we know he can, (well!), but also scored a really good goal as well
Neves 10 - even better than Moutinho - which is really a compliment. The pair plus Podence totally controlled the game - that we should have won far more easily than we did.
Podence 8 - excellent again. Superb close control and ball retention. As we improve our final 3rd play, he is going to a major asset. Great to watch!
Silva 6 - doesn't look like a little boy against men any more. Worked v hard but got little change from their big defenders. Needs to take his chances though! Maybe there is a player there?
Subs
Traore 7 - like Podence he holds the ball well and they resorted, as most teams do, to hacking him down several times as they simply couldn't deal with him. V unlucky to be an inch off side before a really good finish.
Trincao N/A

Future, watched the game though its never the same as being there! Brentford are clearly very physical but for me push the boundaries too far for the Premier League can't say they are a good watch tbh. Pretty much agree with your ratings.
VERY NICE TRY WITH THE DRONE THOUGH!

Ken how did you watch the game?
ps didn't mention it but the clash between the 2 Brentford defenders was scary - Jimenez and Luiz?!
pps wouldn't actually say Brentford were dirty though - footballing teams like Leicester and WHU use the foul more than Brentford - to be fair they are just a big team who use their muscles and we arent!

Yeah I felt sick when I saw that nasty collision between those 2 Brentford players, thankfully both were able to walk off the pitch though.
Brentford were more wind up merchants though Jansen should have had a red for grabbing Sa, I would love to see Jansen do that back in the day to Muscat he would of got decked lol.

Whilst the Brentford goal was quite clever in creating space but blocking our defenders by grabbing them quite blatantly I thought they were fouls. More like watching wrestling. I know they are an in face team with aggression but it comes across to me like a Sunday morning pub team. Just how they appear to me!

Just watched the TV showing.
2 issues I picked up on live were actually worse when seen on TV. As Rated says it was a clear Red for Jansen for two bad fouls in seconds on Sa and Silva 's miss from Dendonker's cross was even harder to fathom - he didn't seem to react at all to a ball rolled across him 4 yards out in the middle of the goal?
Next two league games are make or break. If we beat both Spurs and Arsenal we are well set for Europe. However lose both and the season will peter out.
Given the current depth of the squad and the shortcomings of some of the "bench" either zero experience or just not good enough selling Traore now is totally insane.
Note if we can persuade him to sign a £100k a week contract over 5 years he will cost us less than half what Silva is costing!
Plus if he continues to play as he is doing so at the moment he will not only be worth more in the summer but we will have finished several places higher in the league ( earning far more than any potential diminution of his value).
Taking £20m or even more and buying a far weaker player - Hwang or Trincao - not only weakens the team but after transfer fees, wages and performance related income are taken into account almost certainly hurts us financially.
More effort must be made to convince Traore that we can meet his ambitions and he doesn't need to move to a "bigger " club to get where he deserves to be. The stupidly incompetent summer of 2020 just keeps on giving!

Future- You summed up the Traore situation perfectly and I think most Wolves fans would agree with you, convince him to stay give him what he wants and start him more often, if they intend selling him why play him and risk injury. Glad you enjoyed you trip to Brentford!

Future I find it very hard to see how you gave Neves a 10 when he gave the ball away on numerous occasions.I totally agree with regards Traore ludicrous to sell him at the moment.
Yes I have criticised him many times and I agree he is playing
With more enthusiasm. fans will now jump on me. When the season started we were in the mist of the transfer window and I posted that Traore was playing really well, (yes he missed a few one on ones) I said he was showcasing himself for a move away, when that didn't happen his form dipped and then found himself in and out of the team, are we to having a similar scenario I hope not,I would like him to show his current form
and put pen to paper and become the top top player that at times he shows he could be.

Taff -tks
Norfolk - I gave Podence an 8 as well and he always loses the ball a lot.
But of course if you are playing attacking, inventive, positive, balls forward not all of them come off. I like players who take risks rather than passing backwards players who have flair and skill who make things happen. That means I am forgiving of errors - Traore obviouly doesn't score everytime or even keep the ball every time but he is brave and tries to make the team succesful.
But with regard to Neves it wasn't just his v impressive display in an attacking sense but he also did so much defensively winning tackles and breaking up play. Plus he - with Moutinho and Podence - totally controlled the pace and rhythm of the game allowing us to dominate.
Hope that explains my positivity for him?

Hi Future,
You say you gave Podence an 8 as WELL that's fine, but you gave Neves a 10. Not wishing to appear pedantic just slightly confused by your reasoning,Neves gave the ball away several times with short passes,I have no problem with trying to be inventive with passing that goes astray would rather that than the side side backwards we were becoming under Nuno. Anyway I love Neves don't want to lose him. Its obvious you are a big fan of Traore that's fine I was a real big fan of Jota miss him so much. When Traore joined the ranks our all round team play suffered as Traore was more of an individual than a team player, said it in previous posts buts that's just my opinion which you and I can differ on.At the end of the day we want the best for our team.Hope we keep all our players this window

I would not argue to much with your ratings future, its a point here or there and goes on personnel opinions.
Reference Traore; I think it must be because he's very much a marmite player.
I would argue why pay a guy what ever he wants and upset far better more consistent players when he can't even hold a starting place down.
For me he is so exciting to watch and a brilliant dribbler most the time, but a ratio of 1 in 10 end product?

He has a role to play but for me that role is bit part of the bench and shock the opposition team.

Pay him what he wants? not for me, I would not want to risk upsetting the dressing room.
