According to Keen on X in January O'neil told Fosun about our small squad and the impact injuries could have on it.

For the first time you could see and hear the frustration from O Neil in his interview after the Burnley game, could he possibly walk if he is not backed in the summer, he has built up his reputation and would get another job no problem.

I think if Fosun don't back him and he walks there will be a lot of backlash from the fans.

Shi has been charged with generating €100 million for squad investment this season. So far, nothing!
Our 3 owners, Guo Guangchang, Wang Qunbin and Liang Xinjun, need to sort out a decent commercial CEO or their investment and our beloved Club will flounder!

Looks like its that time of year when Shi becomes the pantomime villian again.

Is this the same Jeff Shi who sanctioned the signings of:

Nunes, Cunha, Dawson, Bellegarde, Gomes, Lemina, Costa, Sarabia, Hwang etc for 177m euros since the summer of 2022.

The same Jeff Shi who was forced to sell players as we were very close to falling foul of FFP.

We could spend money like Nottingham Forest, Everton and Leicester and be sanctioned for breaching the rules.

Or we could be happy with being in the top half of the table and financially stable.

Jas I really don't understand?
This is the same CEO who wasted, with Sellars circa £50 million (including wages, so far) on Silva. Sactioned the signings of Guedes circa £27 million, Hoever (didn't work for us)
Kalajdzic, circa £20million etc etc.
The players you highlight:
Cunha, Dawson, Bellegarde, Gomes and Doyle.down to Hobbs and his team identifying
Lemina, Sarabia.Lopetequi sourced
ps how is getting on raising the €100million his bosses have tasked him with?!

Rugeley, true, but as CEO, who appointed Hobbs, and who did he answer to.

He may have authorised some dud signings but he does not scout and source the players himself. He has a team that does that on his behalf. Yes we have signed players that proved to be below value but then name me a club which hasn't made the odd, below quality player.

For example - Chelsea selling De Bruyne and Salah as they weren't deemed good enough.
Man Utd refusing to sign Haaland as they didn't rate him.

Mistakes happen but why is it that Silva and Guedes are the yardstick by which Shi is measured? Why do people not remember the likes of Patricio, Neves, Moutinho, Raul, Coady etc that he oversaw.

Sorry Jas, you make good points, but we do see this differently.
The players you highlight, were mainly brought in via Mendes at the beginning of the 'project'.
Then Shi sacked many of the senior team and was very public about him directly managing the Club. He appointed Sellars and for me it those 3 years after Santo left which have created the current situation.

I admit that things could have been better over the last 3 seasons but I'm happy with where we are now. 10th place, 3 points off 7th, game in hand against the team in 7th and a possible European place and on a sound financial footing. Surely Shi should get some credit for this season.

Haha, in fairness to Rugeley we had the exact same debate about two weeks ago! Like I said then Shi is FAR from perfect but we could certainly be a lot worse off! ??

We did Bully, we did.
I just hope after the recent good work done, we don't find ourselves back to square 1 in the summer.

On that Rugeley we can definitely agree buddy, we simply MUST have a good window! Else short term we won't progress but long term we likely could/would lose GON! ?

I think if he's not given financial backing he will walk, especially with the teams he's being linked too we need urgent investment as in my opinion although league position is great we seem to be taking steps back rather than pushing on

How are we taking steps backwards?

Fully agree with you Jas M. Of course Wolves have had some transfer mishaps along with most other clubs but overall I think Jeff Shi has done a very good job and should take a lot of credit. Let’s all be grateful for the drastic actions taken last summer when faced with FFP!

We made a positive impact when returning to premier league I understand with FFP and keeping it under control but why get us in that position in the first place we possibly now have one of the smallest groups in the league and it's starting to show with fatigue. I just think that if the finances were managed properly we would be taking that next step and pushing up the league.
Instead we fear losing players and a manager who is working wonders with the budget and squad he has at his disposal

Do you want a larger squad of less talented players?
The money would have to be spread out over more players.
We are in a reasonable position considering our revenue situation.
