Evening everyone,

New poster so go easy on me. Obviously nothing concrete but, heard that we have matched Lyon's offer for Gomes (again whether this is true or not is not for me to say).

Hopefully looking at securing the player within the next two/three days, dependant on Flamengo's willingness to communicate!

*Long time reader and first time poster, lot of people have some really interesting views, many enjoyable reads*

Welcome to the site WOLVZY16, the more views on here, the better.

Apparently, having splashed out 203M euros this season Wolves are up there with the biggest spenders in World football behind Man Utd, West Ham and Chelsea the latter have spent a staggering 555M euros.

With presumably more to come in this window (6 days left) I doubt anyone can fault Fosun's commitment to the club now, so just up to JL now to make it all happen.

Interestingly, apparently Lyon have turned their attention to Tunisian international Ellyes Skhiri.

Long - Over the period of their ownership they have invested fairly solid sums so hard to disagree with your conclusions.
It has been inconsitently spent - which is proably not the way to go - though. The intial relatively substantial spend required to bring the squad upto premier league standard being v well spent. There was then a hiatus with zero net spend for a few of years before we spent like there is no tomorrow in a desperate attempt to re-establish ourselves after a period of mismanagement.
All in all though I have to agree we cannot complain about the quantum of Fosun's financial backing over the period of their ownership.
Watts - I m not sure however that the amount you spend is the only measure of management/club competence.
If we had paid £50m for Fabio would that make him a better player?
Indeed if we had spent £500m he would still be the same player and a bad signing.
So whilst I am delighted that Fosun have backed us with cash I would rather they had backed us with a quality management team that spent (perhaps even a smaller amount of) money well rather than simply wasted it on poor quality over priced and over paid players.
Oh wait they did and everything was more than fine tell Jeff got rid of them all and proceeded to waste the money Fosun provided to such an extent that we found ourselves bottom of the league.
Consequently I don't see anything wrong in moaning about the mismanagement of the club when it occurs?
Shoudn't all Wolves fans moan about things that damage the club?

Welcome aboard Wolvzy16 mate, most of us are a friendly bunch in here we get the odd WUM but if they go too far the Eds are very good at putting them in their place if need be.

I don't think many would disagree Tfiog, however, as non-football people Fosun probably believed Shi's BS about the management team he had assembled. The blind leading the blind, so to speak.

Personally, I separate the two entities, the owners and the club management, the latter in particular deserving of all the criticism they've received. Fosun although a bit slow to step in have done so and certainly rang the changes. I doubt Jeff will be allowed anywhere near transfer selections again.

Fosun have certainly honoured their commitment to the club and ploughed the cash in, irrespective of how poorly, or not, the club has spent it.

Long as usual a very good post and one that I totally agree with.
Indeed throughout my negative period, (Some may think it is still ongoing but really I am far more positive these days), I hope it was clear that I also drew that distinction.
I think it is also worth noting that Fosun have their own financial issues as well so their willingness to make those cash injection is even more praiseworthy.
Not quite the widow's mite but you get the idea.

Future, are you sure the period of little investment wasn't forced upon them by UEFA?

Handsome clearly FFP is an issue that no club should be able to avoid and again I clearly don't have the inside track on Wolves finances vis a vis FFP that Jeff has but as I have also consistently said the mismanagement wasn't about quantum of spend either pre Seville, post Seville or indeed this current splurge of spending over the 6-12 months.
It doesn't matter how constrained or otherwise you are by FFP you can not spend money you have (or don't have) so badly and expect any other result than the one we got.
Indeed with the amounts we are currently spending in wages and fees FFP is surely something we will have to have eyes upon this summer sadly meaning that it is perhaps possible that another consequence of the misamangement of the club over the past couple of years is that we will be forced, for non fooball reasons and even if he doesn't wish to leave, to sell Neves to balance the books - a v v bitter pill.
tks Jeff!
