It would be Wonderful to win the FA cup. Since I started following Wolves, we have reached 5 semi finals and lost the lot. We have a good opportunity to get over this seasons first hurdle against Brentford, however, unless we field our strongest team it will be difficult. By fielding weaker teams, it seriously reduces our opportunity of ever lifting the cup .

We came so close against Watford, every year I hope, knowing I may never see us lift the trophy again, , mind you I never knew much of the last time. So every round I'd like our strongest team and the desire to get to Wembley in the final. But the FA cup, as with the league cup ( as I still think of it) seems to be losing its magic amongst the 'big' teams.

1960,
Norman Deeley scores 2 own goal the third 3 nil triumph.
Dave whelan the ex Wigan owner fractured his leg in collision with Deeley and left Blackburn down to 10 men as substitutes hadn't come onto the game.
When a kid my football team the manager had connections with wolves and Norman Deeley took training sessions.
Was one of my dad's hero's and a good memory for me as my dad chatted to him and got to know him and his tales.
One I remember my dad telling me was that he Deeley was caught in town on the lash and dropped so following him out the team there was injury crisis and he had to he recalled.
Coming out the tunnel to the pacers molineux still drunk threw up sick every where.

5'4" tall Deeley I guess a zola or Messi near comparisons.

Great memories phil, I've got the final on dvd. Don't think we'll get that type of player again, can't imagine anyone coming out hungover let alone still drunk. Ahh those were the days!.

Would love to go to the match with you Abbey.
Never know I may win the lottery jackpot and we go in executive box.

Lol I'd have enough for the whole site to go and watch in style.

Even the Eds when playing their respective teams ha ha.

I think our roster is too small to win a cup unless we ignore the league position and make the cup our focus. O guess we could do that now since we are solidly in mid table and shouldn't worry about relegation any more this season.

In reality Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have dominated since our name last appeared on the cup, Everton and Spurs have a few wins but very few others have lifted the cup. I'm not sure I would prioritise it over the league now that it doesn't provide entry to the cup winners cup.

With the European place likely going to the 6th place league team instead of the runners up should the winners qualify for the champions league then the league surely has to be a priority in the early rounds.

I'd love a cup, especially the FA. The Sherpa Van in '88 was the only one I've ever witnessed for myself. I was too young to remember the league cup in '74 and my mother wouldn't let an 8 year old me go with my brother to the final in '80 (though I did get a copy of the Beacon Radio cassette recording to make up for it and I can still recite Pat Foley's commentary leading up to the goal to this day). However, I also fear that some of our first team must be playing on empty now, and that makes them vulnerable to injury. Safe as we may feel, we are still only a very poor run, combined with improvements for other teams away from trouble. I'm therefore in the camp of being cautious for now, but throwing everything at it if fate sees fit to get us through the first few rounds.
