The Saudis in talks for their winner to be added to the champions league! Its not a fair and level playing field with them having no ffp rules to adhere to. Andcevery other team having rules to follow. They could effectively buy any players they want and put them in one single team to win the trophy.

I suspect that is precisely why they will get turned down, but money talks. On the flip side of the coin UEFA may see this as a way to ("try") to rein them in. Because if you take part in the Champs League then it has its own FFP rules (which are belive are 'technically' more aggressive than our own, just don't ask Barca:). Eitherway it'll be what it'll be, the Saudis have a way of getting/buying whatever they want right now just ask the PGA ?

Since when was Saudi Arabia part of Europe, isn't the champions league a European competition?

Champions League? So the boundaries of Europe have extended then? Hang on, haven't Australia competed in Eurovision?

Israel have played in the Euros comps for years so wouldn't surprise me if they were let in.

{Ed001's Note - Israel play in Europe in large part because of Saudi Arabia refusing to play them in Asian competitions. It was to keep them apart from Arab nations that they play in Europe.}

Cheers for reasoning Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

The way it's going they'll be asking European clubs to take part in their cups. Money money money talks.

If UEFA don't comply surely the Saudis will just buy UEFA. Similar happened in golf.

Hardly the same, Tim. How exactly do you buy a union of European football associations?
