I've just read it longmynd and to my mind your biggest point was on pitch leadership, neves is captain he pleads with the refs and gesticulating but he's hardly coady or ruddy or seiss as you say. I thought Sa would be the character but he seems quiet now, costa maybe if he were able to play more, but there's no one who really leads is there? I'm sure nunes would be a different player with seiss barking behind him,

Thanks Phil, never even thought to look in there, my thoughts were about leadership, or lack of, within the club in general.

In theory Neves should be able to lead by example but this team needs a firm hand both on the pitch and in the dressing room, problem being we've lost all those firm hands. All Managers/Coach's need a strong Captain in the team to 'remind' the players of their responsibilities and ensure a positive attitude throughout.

Some are beginning to question JL's team selections but maybe he and his team get so animated because the players are not doing his bidding on the pitch, the ref's finally pushing them over the edge. Not an excuse, just a thought. Coady, while not in the same league as Neves as a footballer, constantly did 'remind' players throughout the game and as Abbey suggests players like Saiss would have insisted on more backbone from some.

Just trying to make sense out of this season I suppose.

First time I actually think we’re down, hope I’m wrong but the performances are probably the worst out of the bottom 6/7 teams. Relied on our defence so much since we came up and now it’s no where near what it was, combine that with attacking players who can’t score (look at Cunha, hwang, podence, sarabia average goal tallies before they came to us) not exactly surprising now they’re in a more difficult league. It’s still in our hands to get out but we’ve just bought in the wrong players for a while now and they don’t have the bottle or ability to get us out. If we do scrape it then we need a serious rebuild in the summer, fingers crossed we make it

Podence is literally our top scorer with 6 goals so what does that say about the others?
Cunha opened his goal account last week but he needs to play alonside a number 9 either Raul or Costa.
Hwang found his scoring boots before getting injured too.
Sarabia is not a goal scorer he is more a creator but has same issue Adama has no-one in the box to cross to.

Ive just read yours on the other stream Long.
I agree with just about all you say there.in fact I tend to agree with m if you Long, Arrund and Phil.
I am dispondent with where we are, how we are playing, the selections and formations, but I remain grimly hopeful and thinking we will just about survive.
We can't turn clocks back but what really riles, and has done for ages is lack of goals - as everyone here.
I can't get my head around when we have spent about £180m in the last 2 windows we have not bought a few, yes a few ok ish true strikers. We can't afford, or get obviously the Harry Kane's etc of this world, but there were lots of £20m men and with a couple of those we would surely be better than we are.
I know others here disagree and say we have them already,- oh yeah - just look at the stats!or we don't create. enough chances - we create a lot but no one there to do the biz!
£180m -and we are here ☹️

Oh no, not this striker thing again, Rollo. I don't think there's a single person on here that disagrees with the observation that we need more and much better strikers. However, those strikers need to be of the quality to succeed in the premier league and therein is the big, big problem. It is most unlikely that your '£20 million men', whoever they are, will be anywhere near good enough.Gyokeres, who you've mentioned before could be worth a punt but would cost more and the question is why hasn't any middle to lower order premier league club gone in for him? Virtually every big club is in the market for a striker so all the top ones who become available are going to be snapped up by the elite few and we are unfortunately not in that club.We therefore have to shop in the 'up and coming ' and 'having big potential' market and that's where it's gone wrong with the likes of Cutrone and Silva.Even the elite few have had massive problems in securing a quality striker: just look at the situation at Chelsea and Man Utd (the latter having to secure the services of a Burnley cast off as a temporary measure).Oh if it were only as easy as you seem to suggest. Maybe you should offer your services to Jeff!
